Snow, nothing but snow everywhere in sight.
This is what Sapphire awoke to. she got up and shook off the snow that covered her. As she got up, she noticed a figure walking Away. He was tall, had pale skin, dark grey hair, a navy blue shirt and gloves, white, baggy pants with golden markings, bandages around his forelegs, and from what she could see, a large, tan fur collar around his neck, and fur cuffs around his wrists. She couldn't see the rest of him due to him being further away, the only things that were visible to her were his body above his feet. She walked over to him he noticed, but looked away after a second. Now she could see him in full, which meant that she saw that his grey hair covered one of his eyes, and that his feet where housed in white sandals. The snow seemed to be all around them, as if he was surrounded by it.
Sapphire thought for a moment before looking back at him "Excuse me! Who are you? And where am I?" No answer. Sapphire just continued her walk over to him until she stopped in front of him, he seemed surprised.
He turned and stared at her. Sapphire could see that his mouth was covered by a white bandana. "What?" He said finally in his deep yet audible voice.
"Who are you?" Sapphire asked again.
"That's for me to know, and you to leave me alone." He responded, still not moving from the spot.
"Well what are you doing in the middle of a snowstorm? Are you lost? Do you have anywhere to go?"
"Lost? In the snow? Good Grief. You don't seem too accustomed to the cold." The stranger stated, starting to walk again. "I'll have you know that I'm pretty well accustomed to the cold." The man stopped again. "You aren't from around these parts are you?" "I don't even know what "These parts" are unfortunately." He sighed, this time turning around and facing Sapphire. He sighed again. "Mata Nui. This is not what I expected, nor wanted to happen today." He continued his trek, with Sapphire close behind. "So, where are you going?" No answer. This was fine. Sapphire herself was used to being cold and aloof at times. But something about this stranger's silence made her… Uncomfortable. She kept quiet. Suddenly he stopped. He turned his head towards a random spot slowly, and thrust his hand forward. A small humanoid slid out of the snow. A Sapphire gem! But, male? a white parka with a tan fur hood, and cyan pockets and gloves adorned his upper body, while white pants, and cyan boots with tan fur cuffs adorned his lower. his skin was the same color as Sapphire's and his hair was nearly the exact same covering a singular eye, but much, much shorter. Sapphire and the tall stranger stared at him blankly as he got up, only for the tall stranger to point a large sword at the male Sapphire's neck. "Who are you? Why are you watching us? Speak now, while you still have a voice." The male Sapphire shivered in fear. "Last chance." "That's enough." Sapphire said, walking in front of her male counterpart. "He isn't a threat to us. You can see the fear in his eye. And if he was a threat, he probably would have done something by now." The tall stranger de-summoned his sword and sighed. "Sound enough logic. But if not to threaten us, why is he here?" "I-I didn't m-mean any harm." The male Sapphire says in a meek manner. "Then why follow us?" The taller stranger asks firmly. "I-I came for you. Toa Kopaka." The taller stranger raises his one visible eyebrow. Was that his name? Toa Kopaka? Yes. He remembers now, that is his name! "And what of you? What is your name?" Kopaka asks the male Sapphire. "I am Matoro. I-I was sent by Turaga Nuju to find you and bring you to Ko-Koro, our village." "Turaga… Nuju?" "Yes, our elder. He wishes to see you soon." "Soon? Why does he want to see me?" Kopaka asks. "Because he has something to say to you. It is of utmost urgency. The fate of our land depends on it!" Matoro explains. Kopaka groans in thought. "Fine. Take us to your village little one." "Very well. Follow me." The two follow Matoro as he leads them through the snowy terrain, avoiding the drifts that block their path. They arrived at an entrance to a village with snow surrounding it and several houses surrounding it in a circle. As they walked closer, they heard voices.
"Wow, he's so tall." "Is he a Toa?" "I don't know, but he's really scary." Kopaka sighed again. He never wanted to scare the Matoran. Sapphire noticed this and looked up towards him. He simply looked away. Sapphire redirected her attention towards Matoro. "Where are you taking us?" "To the great temple home of Turaga Nuju." As they approached the doors of the great Temple, Kopaka knocked and waited. After a few moments, someone opened the door. It was a pearl. Only a little taller than Matoro and Sapphire. "Welcome Toa Kopaka. You are expected." The pearl said bowing to the group. Kopaka bowed back then stepped inside the building, the other three following suit. They were led into a hall filled with pillars. There wasn't anything in it except a small pedestal in the center. On top of the pedestal sat Turaga Nuju with his arms crossed, the light emitting from within illuminating his face. He was a Larimar gem, which meant he had a prism shaped head with 5 spikes in the shape of a crown, as well as two permanently closed eyes, and a jagged mouth. He wore a silky white robe with Gold accents and cyan lettering, a peach fur collar, and fur cuffs. On his lower body were white pants, and cyan sandals. "(Click, Whir, Whistle, Click)" …."What?" Matoro ran to Nuju's side sheepishly. "Apologies! Nuju said that he is glad to see you awake Toa Kopaka!"
Kopaka's one visble eye narrowed. "I see, so you're a translator." Matoro Nods. "(Click, Whir, Click, Whistle)" "Nuju said that formalites will come later. Right now, we must discuss more important matters." Matoro translated.
Kopaka and Sapphire have started their journey to find the 5 legendary Kanohi masks.
As told by Nuju, Kopaka expected the other 5 Toa to have begun their journey as well. However, the aforementioned Toa were nowhere in sight. Good. As much as it went against this "grand plan" to defeat the evil Makuta, Kopaka preferred to work alone. In fact, the only reason he allowed Sapphire to tag along was because he pitied the smaller gem's plight (also because he may, or may not see her as a friend. But he won't tell her that).
But as they continued walking, no signs of life were seen.
They had been wandering the icy canyon for some time, hoping to find an mask glimmering among the overwhelming white of Ko-Wahi, but they still hadn't found it. Suddenly, as if on cue, a voice cried out from above! "Watch out!!!" Both of the travelers jumped at the sudden warning and looked up towards the source, spotting a multitude of huge rocks heading straight towards them. Without thinking twice Kopaka tossed Sapphire out of the way. The rocks hit the ground, burying him. "Oh Mata Nui! I am so sorry! I didn't mean to do that!!" The "assailant" apologized quickly. He looked down at the pile of rocks he was standing on and shouted. "Are You Alright?!!!?" "I would be… if you weren't standing on rock that was pushed into my chest." The gem jumped off the rock, and Sapphire sighed a breath of slight relief. She hadn't been worried for the Toa that much. She knew how capable he was. But a small part of her, a part that worried for everyone, still held some doubts in his abilities. Little did she know that those doubts would be silenced in the next seconds. "D-Do you need any help?" The new gem asked, stuttering slightly. "I'm fine." The Ko-Matoran Toa answered flatly. "A-Are you sure? I-I can-"
SLASH*
"I said I'm fine." A clean cut between the rock silenced the new gem almost immediately. Any doubts Sapphire had previously were now silenced. Kopaka was capable. Very. Or at least, she thought he was before she looked at his abdomen and gasped. The other gem must have saw it too, because he let a soundless scream. Kopaka's one visible eyebrow rose. "What?" He looked down and saw it. A large, sharp-edged stone was stuck in his abdominal area. "Huh… I guess I've been impaled." Kopaka said flatly before taking the bottom of the stone, and YANKING IT OUT! The hole in his physical projection's "abdomen" closed up silently, and he continued to walk, not acknowledging the shocked look on the faces of the other two gems. But then, he did. He turned around and looked towards the two, Sapphire had a mildly shocked expression, (though he couldn't really tell because of her hidden eye) and the new guy's jaw was practically on the floor!
"What?" He repeated. No answer. He opted to continue walking. And he would have, if Sapphire hadn't yelled before he could take a full step. "You Were Impaled!!!" Kopaka turned his head slightly. "And?" "Gems don't just heal from that!!!!" "Yeah!!! What she said!!! Wait, can we just heal from that? I don't really know." "Changing the subject for a second, Who are you?" Kopaka asked the stranger. "Oh, I'm Toa Pohatu! Toa of Stone!!!" Pohatu introduced. "I see. You're another one of the Toa." Kopaka said. "That's what I said!" "Can we please get back on subject?!" Sapphire said. "How did you yank a stone out without your form dissipating?" Kopaka shrugged. Sapphire sighed. That wasn't a satisfactory answer. But, she would just have to take it. After all, he didn't know who he was before arriving on Ko-Wahi. They finally got a good look at Pohatu. He had bandages around his arms and Tattoos on his exposed Pale brown skin, and long Black hair in a singular, tight braid. Around his forehead is a simple white Bandage. On his torso is a brown tabard with golden embroidery and sandy orange matoran lettering. He wore brown pants on his legs and tied black bands around the knees. finally, he wore simplistic sandals on his feet.
"Quick question." "Shoot." "How did you find us? And why did you drop stones on us?" Kopaka inquired. "Those are 2 questions, but ok. I found you as I was searching for one of my Kanohi." "Really? We're searching for his Kanohi as well!" "Really? Well maybe I could-" "No." Kopaka said bluntly. "Well why not? we're here for the same reason! It'd make things a lot easier!" "I prefer to work alone." "Well what about me?" Sapphire asked. "I pitied you." Sapphire sighed. He's one of those types, the ones who just won't admit when they need help. "Well fine then. If you're so intent on working alone, then go. Go to Mount. Ihu, and get your mask." Pohatu knew exactly what Sapphire was doing. Without another word, Kopaka turned and walked away. After a while, he was completely out of sight. "So, is he coming back?" "No. He's actually devoted to this "Lone Wolf" thing. And he will be for quite a while."… "So what now?" "We find him. I have a hunch that you're one of the only ones who can get him out of that antisocial shell of his." "And where are you getting that from?" Sapphire smiled. "Not telling."
Notes
1. To those in the reviews about to call me racist for making Nuju speak this way, I say, It's canon. It's known as the "Language of the Birds" in the Bionicle canon, and he was taught it by Toa Rahaga Kaulus. How, and Why? I won't tell. YET.
2. Sorry about giving a whole chapter to Sapphire, but only chunk to Ruby. To make up for it, Ruby gets a whole next chapter! How she deals with the Hot headed Fire Toa once arriving in Ta-Wahi...
Well, that's gonna have to be saved for another time.
Until then, Let Unity, Duty, and Destiny be your guiding Light. Until we meet again.
