The light drizzle of rain water could be heard tapping upon the roof. Small streams of moonlight shined through the light grey drapes.
Aria rolled around in the linen sheets, her unusually tall frame was dressed in light pajamas.
The misty night air lingered through the crack of her slightly opened window— a quaint smell replacing the once stale scent.
The nightly air was a bliss, quite the contrary to her current mental state.
She hates the comfortability of her bed— having the effect opposite of what was originally desired.
This bed was too damn soft.
It was like sleeping on a fluffy cloud, one of which was not her own.
Not her own.
She doesn't have a bed of her own.
She was nowhere to go at night— no place to call her home.
Just these empty & lifeless 5-star hotel rooms that bare no real meaning.
No house.
No parents.
No family.
Just a whole bunch of money and nothing to live for.
She tossed and turned but the outcome was still the same- Sleep would fail to come and she would remain up through the night.
Sighting softly, she pet her already sound asleep fennekin, its well groomed and manicured fur allowed Aria's slender fingers to run through with grace.
She was flipped over on her back, staring at the ceiling..
Despite the way she felt, her mind was still ever curious.
Questions raced through her head a mile a minute.
The Majority of those being about the boy she met earlier that night.
Ash Ketchum.
He didn't even hesitate to jump.
His partner Pokémon fell and there wasn't even a millisecond where he pondered about it.
One step; then two.
How deep did their bond go, if he didn't even need to think about it?
And more importantly; Would she do the same for fennekin?
She would like to think so; that the hesitation would fail to be there.
But that just wasn't the case.
If fennekin was falling- would she risk her life for it?
Answer still pending.
Does that make her a bad person..
..Or does it make him exceptional?
"You should name her Satoshi"
Ash was currently speaking with the Alolan professor's via video call. He had originally called to show off his newly caught Kalosian Pokemon- Froakie. But then the conversation had evolved into talking about how the professor's would be getting a new addition too the family soon.
Apparently they weren't planning on naming it after him.
Damn.
Kukui laughed from the other end of the line- "Sorry Ash, But we already have a name picked out"
"Aright, Alright I get that—- but, just hear me out, how about ... Ash Jr?"
There was a moment of silence
"Did you just pause for dramatic effect?"
"Uh, Well- ..did it help?"
"No, that was even worst then the first one"
"Then I have no idea what you're talking about"
The professor let out another small laugh and then sighed
"You're something else Ash. Also, you do realize she is a girl, right?"
Ash scratched the back of his neck and smiled sheepishly 'Isn't the name 'Ash' unisex?'
'It was still worth a shot tho..'
"So ... how's the league?" he asked awkwardly, changing the subject, wanting to stray as far away from this conversation as possible. Even if he was the one responsible for starting it.
Kukui gave a weary smile "It's good, all things considered—although the higher ups were not too happy about the champion up & outing but, Goodshow got word of it and pardoned you"
—
Somewhere, In a undisclosed location, Charles Goodshow sneezed. He was sitting at a desk with his tiny legs up, downing a bottle of bourbon that was labeled 'Open when Ash Ketchum finally becomes a champion'
—
Ash quirked a brow "Goodshow knows about your league?"
Kukui sighed "That man practically runs it. He has a higher position of power then I do and it's my league"
"Oh, that sounds rough, I mean, I don't really understand the corporate side of things because my brain gets fried at even simple math problems—but I know Charles is a ... nice man, so it shouldn't be that bad"
"I guess so"
"Hehe"
Silence. The only thing to be heard where soft murmurers of people and faint calls of pokemon from the background.
"So, what was the real reason you called me?"
Suddenly, the unmistakable sounds of an angry pregnant woman rang out
"Oi! Kukui, I think you meant to say US"
The regional professor of Alola turned ghost white— a deadly sense of fear consuming him
"T-t-that's right dear! I meant Us! Us I tell you!"
The white haired woman suddenly appeared behind him and gave Kukui gentle hug
"I know, Baby, I know"
She was now coaxing while he looked ready to pass out from fear
He mouthed the words 'Send help'
Ash resisted the urge to laugh. Burnet was such a sweet person and a kind soul. It was very fitting that she of all people would be subjected to a ton of mood swings during pregnancy.
"S-s-so Ash... w-what was the real reason that you called m— Us?"
Kukui shot a subtle look up towards the love of his life— making sure she wasn't ready to snap his neck.
She was still cooing and looked overly relaxed.
That only served to scare the poor man even more, she was like a ticking time bomb
"How'd you know I wanted to ask about something else?"
He pointed towards the camera and opened his mouth— but was beat out by his dearest
"It's written all over you face, hun"
Kukui nodded in agreement, albeit very slowly. His pregnant wife was still hanging off him like an aipom and he knew better then too disturb her.
It was like treading on ice, very, very, very thin ice.
"Well, I had an encounter a couple hours ago... with a girl—"
The woman on the other end of the line shot up and cheered, hands in the air "Haha! Finally! He shows interest! It's about damn time!"
Ash folded his arms and tilted his head to the side, confused "Huh? What do you mean?"
The hormonal woman dropped the floor out of surprise and began crying in an over dramatic fashion "Awww... I thought we were finally going to be able to give our little boy some advice about girls~
Ash flushed "L-little boy?"
The male professor shrugged "Don't ask me— she's been like this for a month now. Far too long if you ask me"
"I heard that!"
"Oh Shi—"
Ash smiled at their antics for a second before coughing
"Anyway, I wanted to ask you what you thought about.."
"SHAUNA!" A young honey blonde girl screeched from inside her room
The aforementioned darker skinned girl covered her ears and threw herself over the bed. Flopping down and rolling in the sheets.
"Sorry! But it's true! You can't just ogle the TV all day! Pretty soon it's going to become a obsession"
Serena crossed her arms and pouted "I think it's justified!"
Shauna rolled over onto her belly, using her arms and hand to prop up her head "Yeah, Yeah— you keep telling yourself that~"
Ignoring her best friend's antics, Serena hit the replay button once again. Watching the footage recorded only hours prior.
"I really do think it's him"
"I know. You haven't shut up about it for like the last 5 freaking hours!"
"I wonder if he'll recognize me..."
Shauna let her head fall "Oh Arceus, Sere, if you wanna fuck him so bad just go to lumiose city and flash him your tits. Those baby's of yours are Guaran-fuckin-teed to garner his attention, y'know, with you being plumper then a pecha berry and all"
Serena flushed and whirled around "W-w-w-what?!"
Shauna then rolled over laughing, the girl holding her stomach as she did so
"Oh my goodness! You should see the look on your face right now! You look like a darmanitan! LOL"
Serena huffed, crossed her arms and turned away "Don't joke like that Shauna"
"My bad— it's just, seeing others all flushed and embarrassed brings me an unparalleled amount of joy"
Shauna then got up from the bed "Unfortunately, for you—I wasn't joking. Get your crusty ass dressed we're going too lumiose!"
"Wait What—"
"Fairytales don't write themselves, Serena! Cmon up we're going to get you pegged!"
"...that doesn't sound very fairytale-ish"
Shauna waved her off "Potato-patato & ripe fucking tomatoes— who gives a shit. Get your ass up"
Serena sighed "Oh boy"
Aria's hands gripped the sides of the bed. The shadow on her ceiling had shifted.
She was still thinking about Ash Ketchum.
She couldn't get him out of her head. Memories from hours ago running through her mind on an indefinite repeat.
His appearance,
His actions,
And his interactions with her.
She noted that he was short. Like short.
Or was she just tall?
Either way, it didn't take away from anything.
But besides that, there was another thing that happened— one of which still had her mind racing
8 hours ago
The moon shone ever so brilliantly— But was unfortunately drown out by the lights of the city. With Nightfall in full effect, being in the core of lumiose had failed to disappoint.
Artificial light still shown ever so brilliantly, illuminating the would've been dark streets.
Ash was looking up to meet her gaze, Pikachu doing the same. The woman in question, Aria, towers over him.
But of course, this was of little hindrance for the young man. It wouldn't be the first time he was the shortest around.
But as of now, Ash had no time to quarrel, because things were getting a little awkward.
"It was an honor to meet you Aria, but I—"
"You! Boy!"
Ash jumped back in surprise when an Officer Jenny approached him. "Huh? Me?"
The green haired cop stared intensely for a second. Her arms were crossed, showing off her sizable bust.
Ash felt like she was starting a hole into his soul.
'Holy crap, she's so intense! Nothing like the Jenny's from Alola. She kinda reminds me of her cousin from-"
"Just what exactly do you think your doing? Jumping off the top of tower like that?! Are you seriously brave or are you just-that stupid?"
Ash waved her off wearily "Uhm... maybe a little bit of both?"
"Well, what you did was dumb and reckless, especially considering it was broadcast nation wide. Im gonna need you to file an incident report and give an official statement to the-"
Ash waved his hand in the air frantically "Hold on a sec— What are you talking about? This is definitely not the stupidest thing I've ever done and I've never had to file a ... incideawhat-now?"
"Incident report. You'll need to come with me to the police office" She pointed towards a helicopter in the sky "or you can answer to the press— and with your 'taboo' status, it probably wouldn't be the best idea"
Ash gave her a weird look "How do you know about that?"
Her arms remained crossed as her gaze refused to soften "My cousin from Melemele, Jenny, said you'd be coming to Kalos"
Ash then flashed with understanding "Oh...Wow." Ash scratched the back of his neck embarrassed "That woman really doesn't trust me does she?"
"Especially not after that stunt you pulled on Exeggutor island"
Ash raised his hands up in defense "Hey now— that wasn't entirely my fault. Me and boys just wanted to have a good time, y'know"
A sigh escaped his lips before he turned and bowed towards the pink haired performer who had remained silent throughout the entirety of the encounter.
"Sorry about this Aria, but.." he pointed towards the police officer "..I gotta do ... something? I'll See ya again later, K"
Aria could only watch as he moved towards the officer
"Alright Officer Jenny, lets go!"
"One More Thing, before we go" The green haired authoritative figure said while she suddenly began shifting in her spot, ankles clocking tight her nervously. A light blush dusted her cheeks, as she fidgeted in her place. "c-can I get a a-autograph? I'm a f-fan"
"Woah! Talk about a 180!"
The words played over in over in her head, so much so, she blocked out the rest. It was as if her mind into a hyper focus overdrive where she only thought about a single line, one that pierced through her walls as if a high caliber bullet.
"I'll See ya again later, K"
He wanted to see her again?
'Does that mean— it's couldn't be'
'It was probably just a friendly mannerism'
"But maybe ..."
She'll never be able to know for sure. But she can only hope that what he said wasn't a statement, but a promise.
