Chapter 63: After Aftershock
It was just a few days after the events of Slade's take over of Jump City and Terra's betrayal and eventual redemption.
And the one taking it the hardest was, of course, Beast Boy.
He was barely his chipper self days after his first love had betrayed them all, and then saved them all. The whole thing weighed heavily on him.
We see the green Titan sitting on the couch in the living room, flipping channels as the others stand watching in the kitchen area.
Rose, "I've never seen him this down before."
Vic, "I know. Even that small stink bomb I threw at him yesterday didn't cheer him up."
Jack, "that is NOT a good sign."
Bryan, "we gotta remember, what happened with Slade and Terra affected him more than any of us. Slade may be gone, but his actions are gonna stick for awhile….", Bryan looks down at his robotic arm, "... some more than others…."
The others all nodded in agreement.
Rose, "even though he's gone, it still feels like my father will one day pop back up again…."
She touched her patch lightly.
Bryan and Rose hugged one another close.
Blackfire, "maybe we should try to cheer him up?"
Dick, "anyone got any ideas?"
The others all looked down in thought.
….
Cheer up attempt 1: Dick
Dick walked over to BB and said, "hey, Beast Boy, wanna go train for a bit?"
BB, "sigh, no thanks. I think I'm just gonna, ya know, watch TV…."
Dick looked down and walked away.
….
Cheer up attempt 2: Starfire
Starfire flew over and said, "joyous greeting friend! What say we go out and buy the tofu you love so much?"
BB, "already got some in the fridge."
Starfire, "oh…. Sorry to disturb you…."
She floated away.
….
Cheer up attempt 3: Victor
Vic, "yo dude, you wanna play some video games?"
BB, "no thanks."
Vic sighed and walked away.
….
Cheer up attempt 4: Blackfire
Blackfire, "wanna see me with my top off?"
The others all face-palmed.
BB, "no."
Blackfire, "what?! But my breasts are incredible! You don't wanna see how amazing they look?!"
BB shook his head.
Blackfire nearly flashed BB if it weren't for Starfire quickly stopping her sister.
BB stayed silent as Blackfire walked away, muttering, "dang, he really is out of it…. Who WOULDN'T wanna see ny breasts!?"
….
Cheer up attempt 5: Bryan
Bryan, "want me to buy you a moped?"
BB, "eh."
Bryan walked away, saying, "dang, thought that would work!"
….
Cheer up attempt 6: Rose
Rose, "want me to finally show you what's under the eyepatch?"
BB, "meh."
Rose shrugged and walked away.
….
Cheer up attempt 7: Jack
Jack, "I just got the newest issue of anime monthly, wanna read it?"
BB, "later."
Jack sighed and walked away.
….
Cheer up attempt 8: Raven
Raven, "are you ever gonna cheer up?"
BB, "no."
Raven floated away, saying, "well, I tried…."
….
The others all stood together once again, watching BB.
Bryan, "he really is in a bad place. He ain't even watching anything anymore. He's just watching a test pattern like a zombie!"
Dick, "we need someone who can cheer anyone up!"
The others tried to think of who that could be.
Jack suddenly snapped his fingers and said, "I've got it!"
….
Cheer up attempt 9: ….
BB was still sitting slumped over on the couch.
That's when he heard….
"Meow."
BB looked to the side to see Percy looking right up at him.
BB, "hey Percy."
Percy crawled over to BB and started purring as he rubbed his head against BB's pants.
BB, "Percy, not right now, I'm not in the mood."
Percy kept purring and trying to get BB's attention.
This FINALLY managed to get a small smile from BB as he picked Percy up into his lap.
The others were all watching from the hall as Jack whispered, "I knew that Percy could get him to smile."
Rose, "hopefully Beast Boy will mostly go back to his old self soon."
The others nodded in agreement.
….
Some time later, each of the Titans were doing their own things around the tower.
….
Victor was checking in with STAR Labs to see how Fixit was doing.
The fellow cyborg was doing much better, slowly regaining his humanity as he worked at the labs. And Victor was happy to hear that Spike had gotten a job there as well.
….
Rose was looking through pictures she had of her and her family.
Her real family.
The memories she has shared with her brother, and with the Titans.
She had so many pictures of her and Bryan spending time together.
And speak of the devil, Bryan knocked on her door.
She said, "it's open."
The door opened to show Bryan, who walked into the room and sat next to her.
He asked, "you okay?"
Rose nodded and said, "it's just weird…. He's really gone…."
Bryan hugged her close and said, "he can't hurt any of us anymore. And even if he is somehow still out there, I'll make sure he never hurts you again. I promise."
Rose smiled and hugged Bryan close.
Rose, "I'm just happy to have you here with me still."
Bryan, "I could say the same thing about you."
They both smiled warmly before giving each other a kiss.
….
Starfire was busy redecorating her room, trying to find a perfect place for everything she owned.
….
Blackfire was in her room, trying on some new outfits she got.
And pretty much every outfit she put on was meant to hug her curves.
Tights tops and booty shorts making up most of the outfits.
Leather jackets were honestly her favorite item to wear.
She was also trying to think of a nickname for her friends to call her.
Her sister had Star as a shortened version of her name to use, but it was harder to shorten Blackfire to something else.
She hoped she could think of something soon….
….
Jack and Raven were cuddling in his room.
Raven had her eyes closed and a small smile on her face as she snuggled into Jack's chest, sitting in his lap.
Raven, "I love having these quiet moments between us."
Jack, "me too. It's nice to relax away from all the crime fighting we usually do."
Raven nodded and said, "we definitely need more of these moments."
Jack, "couldn't agree more."
And so, the two continued to cuddle.
….
Dick was calling Bruce, the two catching up after all of this time.
Dick, "and now he's gone. At least, we're pretty sure he is."
Batman, "well, I'll have to update the League's database with this information. With Deathstroke seemingly gone, that's one less threat to worry about."
Dick, "speaking of which, how are the League members doing?"
Batman, "all of them are doing fine. Clark finally showed Lois that he's Superman."
Dick, "about time, considering how long they've known each other. Not to mention how she kept getting into trouble even before she knew he was Superman."
Batman, "speaking of Clark, he and Lois have also begun dating."
Dick, "again, about time."
Batman, "Dinah and Ollie are still doing well."
Dick, "well, I'm glad I got to attend their wedding."
Batman, "Shayera and John have resumed a relationship."
Dick, "is Vixen dating someone new?"
Batman, "a new team member named B'wana-Beast."
Dick snickered at the name.
Batman, "a few heroes have recently joined the League."
Dick, "like who?"
Batman, "Helena recently rejoined with some convincing from Question. Billy Batson forgave Clark and rejoined the League. J'onn finally came back. Kara helped him come back."
Dick, "I'm glad she decided not to stay in the future with the Legion of Superheroes."
Batman nodded and said, "a few villains have actually reformed and joined the League."
Dick, "like who?"
Batman, "well first off, there's Giganta."
Dick, "really? Who got her to join?"
Batman, "Barry did."
Dick chuckled and said, "I wonder how…."
Batman, "a few others like Killer Frost and Cheetah joined as well."
Dick, "neat. Good to see more villains turning to the right side. So, anything you need to talk about?"
Batman, "well, after you and your team saved Jump City from Deathstroke, it caught our attention. We'd like to offer a visit to the Hall of Justice…."
….
BB was finally smiling again as he sat on the couch with Percy in his lap, enjoying the quiet around him.
He was still hurt over the events of what happened days ago, but he has realized that, with the help of his friends…. His family…. He could get through this. He would work past everything.
….
Later, the Titans were all gathered in the living room as Dick told them what he discussed with Batman.
Dick, "and so, all of us have been invited to visit the Hall of Justice and meet the Justice League."
Jack, "awesome!"
Blackfire, "I've been curious about this Justice League I've heard so much about."
Rose, "I hear a lot of stories about the League over the years."
Starfire, "what is this Justice League?"
Bryan, "a team of a bunch of Earth's greatest heroes, helping to protect the world from evil doers."
Jack, "name a hero, they're probably a member of the team."
Victor, "Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Green Lantern, Plastic Man, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Vixen, the Question, the list goes on and on and on."
Starfire, "very interesting. I did not know that members of the Green Lantern corp and one of the Martians joined this Justice League."
Raven, "I didn't even know there was more than one Green Lantern."
Starfire, "oh yes, there are many. Tamaran has peaceful relations with them and the Martians."
Bryan, "well, you learn something new every day."
Dick, "regardless, Batman has offered us a visit. Everyone up for it?"
Bryan, "count me in."
Jack, "sure, sounds fun."
Rose, "absolutely."
Starfire, "oh, most definitely."
Blackfire, "you bet."
Victor, "boo-yah."
BB, "YES!"
Raven, "sure."
Dick, "alright then. Next week, we will visit the Hall of Justice…."

Only one chapter this weekend.
I decided to do one or two chapters between season 2 and 3 to show the effects of what happened with Terra and Slade.
Sorry this chapter is so short.
The next chapter, we'll get to see more of the Justice League.
