One of the last things Laxus remembered from his father wasn't the talk they had after the man was banished from the guild. Despite how emotions were highly-charged during that time, the memory that resurfaced first was the one when Laxus first got his Lightning Dragon Lacrima. He remembered feeling at his weakest when he was young. And he vaguely recalled his father standing over his bed carrying what looked to be a shinning orb. His memory is pretty hazy around that period, but Laxus clearly remembered how much stronger he became after that. He never became weak again, nor did he ever want to return to being weak. Now that Laxus looked back, that was why he looked up to his old man so much. He wasn't weak anymore. He had power, he had strength, but all it took was a powerless nobody to show him how wrong he was with a few simple words.
Sobering was a word to describe it. It also changed Laxus' view of his father. Being weak or strong doesn't translate to how much magic power and skill one has. Laxus pursuit of power almost killed them all. Laxus had a lot of time to reflect on his priority and his family, even up to now. Laxus never expected to come face to face with his internal problems by meeting a supposedly different version of his father.
Fairy Tail followed after Lisanna as she led them deeper down the sewers. Natsu and Happy had so many questions for her, but she revealed that after her brother went wild, she was knocked into an Anima Portal by luck! She survived and found herself under the care of a man named Ivan Redray. Ivan Redray explained many things to Lisanna: where she was, how she got there, and who he and his group of freedom fighters were.
That was another story: a group of society rejects banding together against an oppressive government? The lawyer supposed he was glad to have a slower and more mundane life than if ended up landing in Edolas.
"Wait, if you were here all this time, why didn't you try to go back?" Happy asked.
"I wanted to, Happy. I really did," Lisanna frowned. "But Anima only worked through one direction: pulling magical things from Earthland to Edolas. I was lucky that Commander Redray personally patched up the hole I came from, or else I'd be a chunk of crystal. The only way I could get home is with Anima, but it's been too heavily defended and well hidden by The Edolas Kingdom."
"That Bluelazer fellow," Kain wondered how Natsu's brain worked sometimes. "He's the guild master of Fairy Tail here?"
"Technically, he's The Commander of the Resistance, but he's basically a guild master." Lisanna gave a small smile. "He's just as kind as Master Makarov, so he helped and made sure I felt at home even here."
"Resistance?" Wendy tilted her head. "I don't understand. What does that mean?"
"Hmmm, the best way to describe it in our rules to be like this: imagine if our kingdom suddenly turned evil. Then they banned all guilds because they were contributing to the lack-of-magic problem."
"There's no way they can do that!" Natsu shouted.
Lisanna nodded. "Not everyone would want to disband their guild, and so, they became dark guilds. For a time, dark guilds were hunted and destroyed until The Commander appeared out of nowhere and created Fairy Tail. He collected everyone and fights against the kingdom for their strict and hypocritical use of magic." Natsu noticed the unusual scowl on his lost friend's face before her smile returned. "You should see how he works with lacrima tech! He's a genius!"
For some reason, Kain found himself focusing on the word, genius. A genius inventor fighting against a dystopian government? Why did that premise sound familiar to Kain? He couldn't think of a specific movie or story he heard it from. While he was annoyed at his own inability to recognize this situation, Kain asked, "Ivan Redray seems very knowledgeable. Are we going to meet him?"
"I think so! Before I left for a mission, he asked me to keep an eye out for more people from Earthland. I wasn't expecting you guys of all people!"
Kain wasn't as excited. The fact that they were expected didn't sit well with him. When the lawyer looked over to Laxus, he found a rare sight: Laxus was spacing out.
"Sir? Sir?" Kain recalled that both Wendy and Natsu could hear his whispers. Instead, he opted to elbow the 4th master.
Laxus blinked before he looked back to Kain.
"It's not like you to space out." The brunette noted.
"I'm fine, brat. Strauss, how long till we get there? The smell is horrible for dragon slayers."
Lisanna smiled and gave a soft laugh. "Yeah, the smell is bad for me, so I can't imagine how bad you guys are smelling it." Natsu made a gag motion as if his brain just recognized the pungent scent around them. "But don't worry! We're almost there!"
"We better be," Laxus huffed. "We have no idea what Eisenwald is doing to catch us."
As soon as she heard the call from Eisenwald's captain, she was off. However, as she made her way out of the doors of her office, she spotted the familiar man in sleek, full-plated, high-tech armor walking down the hallway to meet her.
She didn't stop for him. He simply walked after her. "It seems I caught you at a bad time, Kinghtwalker."
Under normal circumstances, Knightwalker would be glad to see her friend. However, the fact her friend was there only meant one thing that she had no time to deal with right now. "Arcadios, please tell me that you're here for a friendly visit."
"I am here for a friendly visit."
Knightwalker put a hand on her head and sighed. She already felt the migraine coming in. "At least sound convincing when you lie."
"I was under the impression my honest nature is what made us friends in the first place." The filtered voice joked before his tone became more serious. "But if you're mobilizing your squad like so, she will force herself to join."
The two were almost at the end of the hallway. Knightwalker and her headache knew what was behind those sets of doors. "Can you convince her not to come?" She knew better than to desperately hope, but she did so anyway.
"Not any more than you can. I have never heard of a Captain General outranking the future queen of Edolas."
The doors opened. The first thing that greeted the two was a shrill scream. "Army Captain! Bodyguard! Fairy Tail has been spotted! Make haste to the Dreadnaught Ship, and we can clip the wings of these flies once and for all!" She was young, dainty even, but her eyes were blinded by hate and pain. It was an ill sign to see for someone who would be the future ruler of Edolas.
Some of the soldiers stationed in the room looked nervously to Knightwalker after the girl said that.
"Are you disobeying the word of the Princess?! If she wasn't giving that order, I would be! We have Fairies to catch!" With a wave of her arm, the men under her started to move.
Knightwalker could only hope that they could catch Fairy Tail with little trouble.
Fairy Tail of Earthland came to what looked to be a dead-end. However, Lisanna stepped forward. When she did, a green light came from the ceiling and scanned her.
After it did so, the walls slid open. When they did, Lisanna walked through the wall. Everyone else followed after and were surprised to see their guildhall and the same people they left behind.
"Elfman, quit crying! Be careful with that booster!"
"Jet, Droy! Quit being so hard on the guy! We're behind schedule as is! Just pick up his slack!"
"Cana, would you give us a hand?!"
"Apologies, a lady such as myself can't do physical labor. However, I will make tea if anyone so wishes."
"WHOOOOOAAAA!"
"Well, at least we can count on Nab to pick up the software pieces. Hey, Nab! We need you to go to our Weapon Cache! See if you can check any tampering with our new equipment!"
But everyone they knew was acting strangely. Kain and Laxus were the only ones to adapt to the situation as they figured out that they were like Eisenwald: same faces, different characters.
"Guys, I'm back!" Lisanna moved forward with a happy wave.
Many of Fairy Tail Edolas looked back and smiled. "Lisanna's back!"
For a second, there was no difference between Edolas and Earthland as everyone welcomed the girl as 'normally' as they would. (With lots of screams and thrown punches)
"Hey! It looks like Natsu's back too!"
"Natsu!?" Out of the crowd, Lucy, or Edolas Lucy, pushed the crowd away and came up to hug the fire dragonslayer.
"Lucy?" Natsu seemed surprised. Perhaps he was also surprised by her leather attire. Granted, it didn't look different from her usual stripper-like attire.
However, whatever tender moment was interrupted when Edolas Lucy grabbed Natsu into a choke-hold.
Someone who Kain assumed was Edolas max shouted out, "Ooh! There it is! One of Lucy Ashley's 48 Methods of Torture!"
(Huh, I wonder what the other 47 methods are.) Kain wondered for a second before Lucy started cycling through a few of them. He noticed Lisanna walking up to Edolas Juvia.
"Are we teleporting?"
"Yes, Louen is under lockdown. We're following protocol and getting out of here. However..." Juvia was interrupted by the sound of a musical jingle.
"Hey, there's a news broadcast on ENN!" Everyone turned to a wall with several dozen screens. Kain was surprised to see what looked to be a TV set. The screen snapped open, and Kain felt a mix of relief and confusion when he saw a stylish logo fly with the letters ENN. It went over to what looked to be news anchors in a news show.
"For those tunning in, this is the channel 713 Edolas News Network. I'm Valerie Martin." A dark-skinned female began.
"And I'm Chip N. Yale."
Kain never thought there would be a day that he missed news network, but here he was almost tearing up at the fact. However, he looked to Laxus, Wendy, and the cats. Considering their level of technology, they were culture-shocked to see the same face on multiple screens.
"I'll explain how they did that later," He whispered to them before the lawyer focused back on the screens.
"This morning, we've received word that the City of Louen is in lockdown: there has been a Fairy Tail sighting." After Valerie said this, Martin gasped. In the meantime, Fairy Tail of Earthland started to look nervous.
"Has anything been destroyed?" The co-anchor asked.
"Thankfully, nothing but a library wall has been damaged. The city is on lockdown while their police force is evacuating all civilians. The Kingdom's Anti-Fairy Unit is making its way there this instant."
"Oh, no!" "Not her!" "Where's Mira when ya need her!?" "Sis!" People cried out. Some of them started to move faster with whatever work they had.
Kain quietly took in those exclamations. He started to realize that besides Mirajane, who was technically accounted for when Edolas Elfman cried out for her, no one from Edolas Fairy Tail mentioned Erza. Then the lawyer started to realize something: Eodlas people were the opposite of Earthland people in personality despite their similar looks. Edolas Lucy was violent and tomboyish, while Edolas Erigor commanded genuine fear and respect that his Earthland Version always tried to demand of others. Erza was one of the most loyal Fairy Tail members in Earthland... did that mean?
"Ha!" Chip's voice showed a tone of victory. "Those Flies better beware! Our famous Erza Knightwalker is sure to capture them this time!"
"W-Wait! Di-Did they say, Erza!?" Happy looked up at Kain before he put a finger up to his mouth.
"Alright, I want those teleporters up by yesterday, people! Move!" Edolas Lucy screamed as all of Fairy Tail began to mobilize around the base.
"Teleporters?" Natsu asked as he looked to Lisanna.
"Our Guild uses mass teleporters to escape Edolas Forces. But give me a second," Lisana went up to Lucy. "Lucy, where's the Commander?"
"He left yesterday in a hurry after you went on patrol to the next city over. He seemed worried before he left on a secret mission of his own. We haven't seen him since."
Laxus heard this, and he found himself relaxing at the thought of not meeting Ivan Redray. The last time he saw his father—his real father—it was under circumstances Laxus preferred not to recall. But his thoughts were interrupted when he heard a very loud and harsh beep, along with what he thought sounded like Levy's voice.
"Fu—" The 4th guild master figured that Edolas Levy was far more vulgar. "G—mn it! What a f—ng," Before the blue-haired girl went into a storm of cruses that even dark mages would blush at, she was interrupted by many convenient beeps. The source of the beeping came from a machine that had over a dozen screens from varying levels and sides. However, Kain noticed the flashing red screens with exclamation points in all of them.
Lucy Ashley didn't hesitate to walk up with an angry voice. "What are you doing, Le' Fleur!? Get us out of here already!?" Le' Fleur must have been Levy's Edolas name.
"Shut it, Ashley! I'm trying, but Eisenwald's Forcefield is different from all the ones from other outer cities! These assholes put in the work to upgrade their Lacrima Domes!"
"What!? The Commander made sure that our teleport station can pierce through any Lacrima Dome the Kingdom can make!" Ashley screamed back before she walked up to Levy.
Le Fleur glared back at Ashley before they butted heads like Gray and Natsu do in Earthland. "Whoever's working with security tech in Eisenwald is genius! The Dome can't stop us, but they're emitting signals that are messing with our targeting systems! If we teleport now, our heads might end up in the Kaldor Mountains while our torsos might appear on the d—n moon!" Levy glared back at the machine for interrupting her. She looked back at Ashley. "And that's our best-case scenario!"
"Well, do something! Knightwalker and the Anti-Fairy Force are on their way here!"
"What do you think I've been doing!? I can't jam their jammer from here!"
The two girls banged heads with each other before they grappled arms together.
"It's weird to see Lucy and Levy act like Natsu and Gray." Wendy held her hands together before she noticed the rare sight of a thick-clothed Gray, happily leading away Natsu.
"Man, Lucy laid on ya pretty hard back there, buddy. You want a drink?" To most of those from Earthland, seeing Gray trying to soothe Natsu was also a jarring experience.
"Gray, take your clothes off."
Laxus started to look around as people started screaming. He then looked back at the screens that showed what looked to be Louen City seen from a bird's eye view. It was only a matter of time before Edolas Erza came in with an army to crush these guys. If enemy Erza was even half as competent in battle as her Earthland counterpart, there was no way these people could take on Erza with these circumstances. Their leader was gone, and these Edolas folk were just as wild and untrained as Earthland Fairy Tail.
The fourth guild master sighed and stepped forward.
"SHUT UP!" He yelled as the entire guild looked over to him after he shouted.
Laxus pointed over to Levy. "You. You said that Eisenwald isn't stopping the teleportation, but messing with the ability to teleport to a proper location?"
"What's it to you!?" Levy and Lucy of Edolas were ticked off and returned a glare that could freeze water towards Laxus. They didn't like some tough guy thinking he can take charge.
However, Laxus did not want to deal with bullshit from another world. "I'm going to take that as a yes. Then all we need to do is infiltrate the Eisenwald Police building and destroy that jam-thing. You'll be able to teleport out here properly, right?"
Levy pointed a finger up and scowled. "That's easier said than done! Eisenwald is the only Police Force that never rests on their laurels! Even if by some chance that the famed Crime Reaper isn't there," Laxus and Kain recognized that must be Edolas Erigor's nickname. "Or didn't leave competent men to guard their base, it's laced with high-tech security that is custom made! In other words, our usual software will work slower since they don't use the same standard gear the other Police Forces do!"
To be honest, Laxus did not understand half of those words, but he got the main message. "I'm not asking if it was easy. I'm asking if it can be done." Laxus folded his arms. "Can it be done?"
That seemed to make the blue-haired loudmouth flinch, "Well, yes,"
Before Levy could speak more, Laxus turned to Lisanna. "Lisanna, get a map and give it to the red brat over there so he can figure out where the Eisenwald HQ is. We're going to break whatever machine that needs to be."
"Hey!" Laxus turned to see Jet and Droy of Edolas swaggering over to him. Usually, Laxus didn't so much as notice when those two were in the guild, but in Edolas, their presence and skill were easy to see in the way they carried themselves.
Jet and Droy of Edolas were battle-hardened. "Listen here, punk!" And quick-tempered. "We don't care how much of a hot-shot you think you are! No meathead like you can just boss Fairy Tail and get away with it!"
The two gave off an impressive glare that their Earthland counterparts could never match. However, Laxus met them head-on and then pointed to one of the screens that showed the city.
"In an hour or even less, your enemies are going to come here in full force. They are going to do everything in their power to arrest or even destroy everyone you care about. I may be new here, but I sure as hell know you don't have the manpower or the leadership to fight your enemies right now." Laxus stepped forward to the two. While Jet and Droy were tougher in Edolas, Laxus was still taller than both of them. "I'm going to make sure you all don't end up in a six-by-six-inch cell or six feet under. And you're stopping me just because I didn't show the respect that you never earned? If so, now it comes down to this: which is more important to you? Your pride? Or the safety of your guildmates?"
Kain noticed the shocked look on everyone's faces when Jet and Droy back downed. "No way!" "That guy stood up to Droy and Jet!" "They're like the biggest powerhouses in Fairy Tail!" "Who is that guy?" "What's with that old-looking robot?" "Didn't Lisanna say the commander was waiting for them?" "Who are these guys?"
Laxus pointed to Edolas Jet. "You're a speedster, right?"
Jet scowled, but he obviously suppressed his pride when he answered, "Yeah, Commander tailor-made me the best speed boots and gear in the entire continent. I can hit Mach 5 with these babies!"
"Good, we'll need you along as well. It's going to be a hit and run quest." Laxus put his hand down. "A speedster is perfect for this situation."
"Hey!" They all spotted Edolas Droy walking up with his club slung over his shoulder. "Where Jet goes, I go."
Laxus said nothing, but he nodded once.
"Whoa, doesn't that guy sound like the commander?" "Yeah, he reminds me a lot like him."
The electric dragon slayer paused for only a second before he shook his head and left the guild. He was too focused on trying to not think about his father that he wasn't able to tell Natsu to not follow them because he had no magic. However, Kain did tell Wendy and the cats to stay there for a while. However, that did mean that Pla was going to stay behind as well. Too bad, the Lawyer wanted a laser robot to be a part of the team but protecting Wendy was more important.
The team consisting of Laxus, Natsu, Kain, Lisanna, Jet, and Droy were on their way to raid Eisenwald.
The makeshift team got out of the sewers. Lisanna moved the team through some abandoned and condemned buildings that were going to be torn down.
"Okay," Lisanna pointed to an official white building with a gold-plated tree symbol that could be seen towards the center of the city. "That's the Police Station."
"Tch!" Edolas Droy made a sound before he spat on the floor. "I hate the Edolas Kingdom, but the Eisenwald Police force has some of the best architecture I've seen."
"Alright, let's go down and bust them down!" Natsu slammed his fists together.
"Natsu, you can't use magic!" Kain quickly said, "Why did you even come with us!?"
"Yeah, now that you mention it," Edolas Droy pointed over to Natsu. "It's not like you to be so brave without a vehicle, Natsu. To be honest, this is the first time that I've seen you this long away from Fireball. Where is it?"
Natsu lurched at the mention of a Vehicle.
"Fireball?" Kain repeated the name he recalled that Erigor also said.
"W-We should focus!" Lisanna came between them before she gasped and pointed to the sky.
Everyone looked up, and Kain's jaw dropped. (What the hell!? They've got spaceships?!)
Kain had been on the Blue Pegasus' pride, Christina. However, he learned that it was a one-of-a-kind ship. It was the second magic-powered flying ship he saw, but it had absolutely none of the personality of the Blue Pegasus vehicle. It looked more like a stealth plane from his world with its V-shape design. Yet he never saw a stealth plane the size of a football field.
"They brought a Dreadnaught Ship! Shit, she's already here!" Droy cursed and readied his weapon.
"Wait," Kain motioned the tougher Droy to slow down. "This might work in our favor."
Natsu smiled as he realized how Kain's tone got like this before he came up with an equally brilliant and stupid plan. He slapped Kain's back. "Oh, yeah! I know that look! This next part is going to be fun!"
"What are you suggesting, brat?" Laxus looked over to their lawyer.
Kain looked to the small team. "We attack them head-on, right now."
"Are you some kind of idiot!?"
Knightwalker was currently hating her life at this moment as the Princess walked beside her and insulted Captain Erigor's plan of attack.
"I..." The Royal Army Captain was thankful that the Chief of Eisenwald remained composed. "Beg your pardon, Princess?"
"This plan is foolish!" No, Knightwalker had to admit it was a sound battle strategy. One of the best she's ever heard! "Why are we resorting to such back-handed schemes as those flies!? We have them cornered, so we destroy them once and for all! No! Crush them like ants, as they so deserve!"
"Princess Hisui," Arcadios was known as the Hero of Edolas, Knightwalker prayed to whatever gods out there that he could also pull a miracle here. "You didn't let the Chief finish his briefing. Perhaps he has more to say."
The green-haired girl glared at her bodyguard. However, she relented and simply folded her arms in silence. Knightwalker considered going to a local church or temple after this.
Erigor motioned his hand to open his collar slightly. "Forgive me if I offended you, Princess. But I lost my train of thought. I will start from the top," The Chief of Police activated the table that showed a holographic version of the city. "Our City Barrier is still up even though Fairy Tail is known for breaking such barriers with ease."
Knightwalker and Arcadios nodded. Yet the Princess grew impatient as the words went on. "One of my tech specialists figured there was no way for a small Police Force to match the technical genius of Redray. Instead of trying to stop them from potential escape, the Barrier has a Jamming transmission designed to mess with targetting and communications outside of our own. If—When they break our lockdown barrier, they won't end up in the location they wish." Erigor changed the hologram to show a device the size of a couch standing on its length with a computer screen attached to its side. "If I were in their shoes, they will try to attack and aim for this device. That is why we are going to move the device to a more unpopulated area and set a trap with a decoy machine." The hologram on the table showed a copy of the machine. "My men have already hidden the real machine. As of right now, the decoy is relaying the original's signal. Fairy Tail will believe the Decoy here is the real jammer. All we need to do is make a show, even using the news as bait to lure them out to a favorable battle."
Erza Knightwalker had to admit that this was without a doubt, the best plan she ever heard. It was utter relief to be working with competent Police forces in capturing Fairy Tail. Most of the time, she had to do all the work.
"We do not need this scheme at all!" Fate must be sadistic to finally give Knightwalker the help she so wished, only for her Princess to vehemently reject it. "Fairy Tail has evaded our forces long enough, and now? They are trapped with no way to escape! They can no longer escape the justice they so deserve!"
"Princess," Erigor began carefully. "Even Fairy Tail knows it stands no chance in direct conflict with a platoon of the Kingdom's best. That is why they have evaded us for so long. We need to lure them out with a trap." He seemed to be making progress—the Princess seemed to be relaxing her hands.
Erigor spoke in his most respectful and surest voice. "They won't attack us head-on right now."
And then the building shook at the same time everyone heard a powerful explosion.
Even though the ringing alarms, they heard a familiar voice roar out, "IT'S GREAT TO HAVE MAGIC AGAIN!"
"Natsu, you can't come. You don't have magic." Kain whispered. Edolas Droy and Jet were contacting Edolas Levy about what machine they were hunting looked like. With the Edolas Natives momentarily distracted, the lawyer tried to convince Natsu not to join the attack.
"Like hell! I'm not sitting out a fight! No matter what, I'm going to fight for Fairy Tail!" Their lawyer found that truly admirable. A shame that it wasn't helping them at this moment.
"Wait," Lisanna walked up to the two as she took out what looked to be a pill bottle filled with red medicine in the shape of marbles. She popped four out and gave one to Natsu, gave one to Kain, and tossed another to Laxus before keeping the last one to herself. "These are called X-Balls. Commander Redray made them for me when I couldn't use my natural magic in Edolas. Crush the pills in your mouth, and swallow the pieces. It'll let you use magic again."
"Really!?" Natsu quickly did what his old childhood friend told him.
"But it only lasts 30 minutes. And I have only a limited amount." While Lisanna said this, Laxus also did the same. Instantly, he found his strength coming back to him.
Laxus saw Edolas Droy and Jet finishing up their call. "30 minutes is more than enough. Alright, Natsu, are you ready now?"
The 4th guild master got his answer when Natsu's fist reignited.
"What the hell!? Natsu, your fist is on fire!?" Droy pointed.
"Sorry, guys!" Kain pointed to the police department. "We need to hit hard and fast!"
Natsu punched an Eisenwald policeman with enough force to send him flying. However, the policeman slid on the ground before taking out magical based Tonfas for both his hands. He raced at Natsu while the tonfas spun around his hand. The Dragonslayer responded in kind, and he punched the incoming guard. However, the policeman blocked the punch with one tonfa and punched Natsu with the other. Natsu was about to kick him away until a hand popped out of the rubble he was standing on and vice-gripped his ankle. Natsu looked down briefly to see an Eisenwald Policeman buried under the rubble. But then Natsu saw his ally was coming in to attack him again. Exerting more strength than he needed, Natsu kicked with the caught leg. What ended up happening was the buried man ended up being pulled out of the ground and thrown into the other policeman.
Natsu let one gasp escape him. Eisenwald was stupid tough in Edolas if even their lackeys took more than one hit to take down.
The fire dragon's senses blared when he heard and felt something coming at him with the same power of a charging rhino. Edolas Karacka, who seemed to be taking the form of pure stone, rushed for Natsu. The dragon slayer was caught off guard and was uppercut by the muscular rock man.
"Gah!" Natsu flipped and landed on one knee. "He hits even harder than Gaje—" Karacka didn't waste time and rushed to attack the downed dragon slayer.
However, a magic beam flew from behind Natsu and shocked Karacka. However, it didn't look like it stopped him at all. A second after the attack hit, plants started to grow out of Karacka's skin then suddenly wrap and ensnare the large stone man.
"What the hell, Natsu!? Since when were you this reckless? And since when can ya do Pyrokenisis?!" Edolas Droy came in with his club.
"You Fairies have a lot of nerve coming here!" Beyond Karacka, a series of whips pinpointed and destroyed the vines growing around Karacka's stone skin. The whips flew back to Edolas Rayule. Then Natsu noticed that the whips were actually the man's sleeves? "It'll save us the trouble of hunting you in the sewers ourselves!"
"Come and get it, you kingdom dogs!" Droy swung his club over his shoulder and motioned the others to come at him.
As fighting broke out, Erigor looked at the screen of his men fighting Natsu and Droy.
"Send everyone!" The Princess barked. "I want them destroyed!"
"Wait, something isn't right," Erza shouted before looking back at the screen. "They've done nothing but run this entire time. Why are they attacking now?"
It was then they heard another explosion, but it didn't come from the fight between the four.
It came from above.
The screen changed to show the flying ship above the police station. It was now on fire.
(Well, this is new. I'm invading a flying, magi-tech ship in another world, for another world while I came from another another world. Dammit, Magic. I thought we reached a peak with fallen gods! Why are you getting weirder!?) Kain elbowed a man in his neck before kicking him into a metal door.
Laxus unleashed a shock of electrical blasts that could make even a Sith Lord jealous. The number of people dropping to the ground was... unsettling to Kain.
"They are still alive, right?" Kain looked over to Laxus.
"What do you take me for? I'm just testing how my strength is returning. My magic isn't being sapped as much as before." Laxus gripped his fist.
Kain and Laxus walked into the command room. "Lisanna was surprised to learn you could still use magic. When she came here, she couldn't use an ounce of her magic, but you could despite being drained by even the smallest of spells?"
"I have a working theory, but hurry up brat! You're the only one from Earthland that seems to understand this stuff!"
"Yes, sir, Mr. Commander Junior." Kain joked, but he noticed Laxus flinch at the call. "Sorry, I wasn't expecting it to be a sore subject." The Lawyer apologized before heading towards the main console. Kain looked at it for a second before he touched the screen and placed a small device into an equally small hole.
"What did the younger Strauss give you?"
"It looks like a USB Device," Kain said as he saw screens pop up about downloads. He clicked 'Yes', and the data started to get transferred over. "Long story short, it's a device that can store a library's worth of information. But it needs to be physically connected to this to start the download. Luckily for us, this device also doubles as a hacking device and... I pretty much lost you with my jargon, didn't I?"
"Just hurry up with what you need to do brat." Laxus tensed as he looked down. "Something is on its way here. Coming in fast!"
And then, the dragon slayer and the wyvern rider saw something on the window screen of the cockpit.
Although they were expecting anything, they didn't expect to see two people flying in what Kain would call "Iron-Man-looking, magic-powered, and Anime Armor".
"Pathetic flies!" A filter, female, but furious voice screamed from the smaller robotic suit. She pointed both hands forward, and they turned into canons that gathered light faster than the two expected.
The taller flying armored man turned to his companion. "Princess, wait!"
She either couldn't or didn't hear the voice over the roar of two laser beams firing at the Earthland newcomers.
Thinking fast, Laxus inhaled and then unleashed... "Lightning, Dragon's Roar!"
However, his fast-thinking ended up catching the wrong attention.
Inside a long, winding, and elaborate room, a man sat down on a throne. Despite all the grandiose architecture, it was surprisingly quiet.
However, the man on the chair started to writhe.
"Magic! We need more magic!" He gasped and hunched over with heavy breaths. "No! Magic! No! Magic! We need more! No, we do not! It's not enough! It's gone far too much!" With each sentence, the man on the throne jerked to different sides around him like a wasp trapped in a glass jar.
He suddenly stopped. He moved his neck with the speed of a predator about to pounce.
"I hear dragons."
Author Notes: Happy Later Halloween/Day of the Dead/Whatever late Fall holiday you celebrated.
Sorry for the delays, I'm still trying hard to balance my schedule, but it's a little hard. Anyway, I don't have much to say for this chapter, except for the fact that I'm going in a different direction for this Edolas Arc. Fairy Tail here is going to play a somewhat different role. Oh, and I wanted to put Ivan Redray in this chapter, but my notes and his character had me do something different with him.
Overall though, times are getting worse. Be safe out there guys, and try to be kind to others, even if you don't like them.
