Hopes Peak Academy. You've definitely heard of it right? The school where only the best of the best will ever have a shred of hope getting into. It originated in Japan many years ago, and since then every student who ever graduates is basically destined to achieve great things in their life. I thought it would never be an opportunity I'd get to experience, but then it happened. five years ago six more Hope's Peak branches would be opened up to aid Japan's relations with other countries. And the countries they would be placed in would be Argentina, England, South Africa, America, Australia, and Canada. And even more to my surprise, I, Michael Stevens, but you can just call me Mike by the way, received an invitation to be part of the 6th class of Canada's Hope's Peak Academy branch, as the Ultimate

I'm sorry, my head just started going fuzzy there. But anyway, flash forward to today, standing outside the gates, I knew that today would be the first day of my new life. If only I knew that new life would be that of complete and utter despair.

PROLOGUE - WELCOME TO THE CAMPING TRIP OF DESPAIR

"My head..." Mike stammered to myself as his eyes slowly began to open. Mike suddenly shot up and looked at my surroundings, seeming as though he was in a cabin of sorts. "Where the hell am I...is this my room?

Mike got up off the bed and confirmed his suspicions. "How on earth did I get here..." Mike mumbled to himself. As he turned his head, he noticed a monitor in the corner of the cabin, the screen was pitch black but on it, all it contained was the writing 'All Students are to meet at the campfire pit by the dock'

"Camp centre...?" Mike said to himself. Suddenly, he flinched as he heard a loud screeching noise.

"Hello? Hello? Is this thing on!?" An adorable sounding voice said over the intercom in his room. "Attention all Hopes Peak Academy students, you are to meet at the camp centre just outside the mess hall, now get a move on your asses!" And with that it shut off.

"To think such language is allowed from a Hopes Peak official..." Mike muttered as he approached the door, opening it. He came out onto a wooden boardwalk type of thing, noticing the many other cabins around him. He noticed on the side of his door was an eight bit sprite version of Mike's face, presumably to assume it was his cabin.

"Now...where to find the mess hall..." Mike said to himself.

"Need help?" A voice next to him suddenly said.

Mike flinched as he looked to the side to see a small blonde girl in a great sweater by his side.

"Where did you come from!?" He exclaimed at her, looking to his left and right.

"Oh, I came from the cabin next door." She said, glancing over, "I heard a voice outside and came out to see who else was here." She added.

"Oh...fair enough I guess." Mike reasoned. "Just don't sneak up on me like that." He added with a frown.

"I'll try and refrain." The girl said with a giggle. "So I take it you're also a Hopes Peak freshman?" She added with a curious stare.

"Oh? Yeah..." Mike said, rubbing the back of his shoulder. "I'm Mike, nice to meet you."

Mike Jones - Ultimate ?

"Are you not going to tell me your talent?"

"Oh the thing is...I don't know what my talent is." He chuckled awkwardly.

"Interesting, do you think you're having amnesia?" The girl said in surprise.

"I mean, I guess that's a possibility." He shrugged. "In the mean time, what's your name?"

"Dawn, pleasure to meet you." She said sticking a hand out.

Dawn Dawson - Ultimate Fortune Teller

"Oh forgive me for asking, but what is that?"

"Well to put it short, since I was a child I've loved nature, and mother earth. And I guess my love and devotion for the planet caught the attention of the Canadian branch." Dawn summarised.

"Well, that's fairly impressive I suppose." Mike added with an awkward smile. "Do you know where the we're meant to be headed anyway?" He added looking around.

"Oh yes the mess hall, I told the others I'd wait here and direct any late comers, you're the last one so I shall escort you personally." She said with a warm smile.

"Well, lead the way then." Mike said, stepping to the side and following behind Dawn. As she led him he began to properly take in his surroundings and the situation. If this really is Hope's Peak Academy, then something strange sure is going on here...

After some time, Dawn finally led Mike to what was the campfire pit, where he saw them. The rest of the Ultimates, the twenty three other students.

"Finally Dawn, took you long enough." A red headed boy in a dirty tank top scoffed.

"Apologies for my lateness, but he took longer than I expected to wake up." The Fortune Teller responded calmly.

"Well that being said, this is everyone right?" A taller girl in a ponytail asked.

"Well the map by the cabins only had twenty five of them if you counted it." A short black boy with glasses and a red hoodie said, readjusting them.

"Well in that case, all the pressure seems to be on you to introduce yourself." A gentleman in a red shirt revealing his abs chuckled.

As he said this, all the eyes of his fellow Ultimate's turned to Mike, as he stood there awkwardly. "Well, um...my name is Mike..." He stated.

"And your talent is...?" The dirty tank top boy from before said, matter-of-factly.

"Well...um..." Mike stuttered, taking a step back.

"He doesn't know his talent." Dawn said, stepping in.

"What, that's crazy?" He snorted. "How are you a Hope's Peak student who doesn't know his own talent?"

"I mean considering our current predicament, it's not exactly the most wild thing now is it?" Dawn said stepping in.

"The hell are you talking about creepy girl?" He retorted.

"Well we are currently stranded on an island, with nobody having any memory of how we got here or what this is for." The gentleman in the red shirt said again. "At the very least we should introduce ourselves to him before doing anything else, no?" The red headed boy in the tank top stuttered a bit before scoffing and walking back to his place.

"I apologise for him, he's one of our more...interesting classmates." He added with a chuckle as he put out his hand. "I'm Alejandro, pleased to meet you." He said with a warm smile.

Alejandro Burromuerto - Ultimate Politician

"Pleased to meet you..." Mike said awkwardly, shaking his hand.

"Well I look forward to being your classmate." He responded. "Now I'll leave you to get to know all our other classmates."

As Alejandro walked away, Mike made his way to the one closest to him, who happened to be sitting on one of the many tree stumps reading a book.

"Hey, nice to meet you." Mike said, trying his best to look kind.

The boy just put a finger in front of him, as he continued reading.

"Um...I'm Mike..." He continued, as he just kept ignoring him. Eventually the boy closed the book after placing his book mark and finally looking up.

"And I'm...finally finished with this chapter, how can I help you?" He said in a very monotone voice.

"Oh, sorry." Mike said with an awkward chuckle.

"Yeah sure...well I'm Noah, nice to meet you too I guess." He said with an eyeroll.

Noah Patel - Ultimate Author

"Any more questions or can I go back to reading now?"

"No, all good." Mike reassured him, before he nodded and kept going back to it.

"I see you've met Noah huh." Mike turned to where the voice came from but saw no one.

"Yeah, down here big guy." The voice said again, as Mike looked down to see a scrawny Caucasian white boy.

"Jeez is the height difference this much?" He said, chuckling to himself.

"Well my dad was a giant, sorry buddy." Mike said with a smile and a shrug.

"Well mine was too...so I don't know what my excuse is..." He replied with another laugh. "Anyway, I'm Cody, nice to meet you!" He energetically added.

Cody Anderson - Ultimate Hacker

"Jeez Cody way to be as awkward as always." A taller blonde girl in a blue hoodie said, walking up to us and giggling to herself.

"Gee, thanks Bridgette." The Hacker responded with a frown.

Bridgette Miller - Ultimate Surfer

"Oh a potential Bridgette and Cody relationship!?" A tall girl with purple hair said clapping her hands enthusiastically said from the side. "I can't wait to put this on my Hope's Peak blog!"

Sierra Smith - Ultimate Blogger

"Do we really have to endure four more years of this?" Noah whined from the sideline.

"Cheer up Noah, it's not like you're going to be put together with anybody." A lightskinned girl with brown hair and freckles said rolling her eyes.

Courtney Powers - Ultimate Defence Attorney

"Ah Courtney, as nice as always." The Author added in a sarcastic tone.

"Hmm I dunno about that one, Noah and his books will probably win prom king and queen when we're seniors." A guy with a green shirt that had camo sleeves said with a chuckle.

Trent Reed - Ultimate Guitar Player

"I told you, they're not real!" Everyone in our little circle immediately flinched and turned to where the yell was coming from. An Indian boy was seeming to screech this at a boy in a beanie.

"And I keep telling you they are! That's just what the government wants you to believe man!" The boy in the beanie hissed back.

Dave Qureshi - Ultimate Lucky Student

Shawn Davis - Ultimate Survival Expert

"Oh great, they're going at it again." A girl with dyed hair said with a sigh.

Gwen Samuels - Ultimate Artist

"Nothing new anyway." Trent said with a smirk and a small chuckle, causing the girl with dyed hair to blush and look away.

"Now now, if I may step in to end the madness." A ginger girl with glasses said stepping in between Dave and Shawn. "Despite the high unlikelihood, we technically cannot say for certain that zombies do not exist can we?" She reasoned.

"You see! Listen to Scarlett!" Shawn proudly said as Dave pouted.

Scarlett Marshall - Ultimate Scientist

"Oh cheer up Dave, she didn't exactly say your wrong." A girl with short black hair and earrings said in an attempt to cheer him up.

Dave gave a fat blush and turned to the side.

"I can't believe I'm spending the next four years with you people..." A girl in jogging bottoms and a matching hoodie scoffed.

"We're not exactly pleased to be spending it with you sunshine." A boy in a mohawk said, carving into a log with a pocket knife.

Sky Cooper - Ultimate Gymnast

Joanna (Jo) Briarwood - Ultimate Sprinter

Duncan Peters - Ultimate Delinquent

"I am however very excited to be spending it with you gorgeous." Duncan said sending a wink towards a blonde girl in a cheerleading uniform with a mole.

"Ew." She said making a grossed out face, before turning to the girl next to her. "Samey, swap places with me."

The similar looking girl sighed, before swapping places.

Amy Jones - Ultimate Cheerleader

Sammy Jones - Ultimate Reporter

"Damn that's sad..." A tall black man with a D on his shirt said, rubbing the back of his head.

Devon-Joseph Johnson - Ultimate Animal Caretaker

"What is? The mean twin or the pig?" A tall girl with her black hair in a ponytail scoffed.

Heather Chang - Ultimate Prosecutor

"A pig? Does that mean he can fly?" A blonde girl innocently added.

Lindsay Aldrin - Ultimate Fashionista

"Lindsay, she was speaking figuratively, and pigs can't actually fly." A short black boy said with a frown

Cameron Brown - Ultimate Honour Student

"Oh...are you sure because my dad used to say it a lot." She innocently said again, causing Heather and Cameron to facepalm.

"ninety nine...one hundred!" A boy with a crew cut said as he finally stood up. "Finally, all done."

"Jeez, you really had nothing better to do?" The red headed boy from earlier snorted.

Brick MacArthur - Ultimate Cadet

Scott Harvey - Ultimate Farmer

"Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned workout." Brick responded.

"If you say so, crew cut." Scott smirked back, as the two began to step closer to each other a girl dressed in pink stepped between the two.

"Excuse me, do you think I could clear the tension with a song?" She said hopefully.

"Yeah...I'm gonna say no." Scott said before walking away.

"Thank you for the suggestion Ella, just not now." Brick said giving her a reassuring shoulder.

Ella Sweeney - Ultimate Singer

"Well seems like that's everybody..." Mike muttered to himself.

"Now that we've all met the new guy, can we actually talk about our situation again?" Cameron asked, getting everyone's attention.

"What's there to add? Nobody knows how we got here, nobody remembers anything after heading to the academy, or what's going on right now." Duncan summarised. "Unless you got anything to add toothpick?" He then turned to Mike, as did the others.

"Um, you basically covered it. Except I don't even remember my own talent..." Mike sighed.

"I'm sure it'll come back to you, with the lack of memory we all seem to be having it's not a completely surprising occurrence." Scarlett spoke up, repositioning her glasses.

"Who the hell even called us here?" Gwen said, finally getting agitated.

As Mike watched everyone argue and bicker over each others voices, he noticed something by the barrel at the front of the campfire pit. "Hey guys...do you see that?" He said, as he pointed over to the barrel that was now shaking.

"Is the barrel...shaking?" Bridgette said getting a closer look.

"Attention, attention, is this thing on?" A voice said over the intercom, as it began to screech. "Well, now that all the students have gathered it's time to begin the orientation!" The sweet voice added.

As the barrel began to shake even harder, the top finally opened, and what appeared in front of it was a small black and white bear. "Pleased to meet ya students! I'm Monokuma, your new head master!"

There was a complete silence, as nobody knew exactly what to say

"You're telling me, you a stuffed animal is our new headmaster?" Cody finally said, breaking the silence.

"Jeez, for the best and brightest this country has to offer you guys are pretty slow." Monokuma frowned. "Yes, I'm your new headmaster, any more stupid questions? Like why is the sky blue? How babies are born?"

"Oh yes, the second one!" Lindsay said raising her hand.

"Shut up Lindsay." Heather hissed at her. "Now you, bear, what the hell is going on here?"

"Yeah, why the hell are we on this island rather than the academy?" Jo added

"Well let's just say we decided you guys could use a field trip." Monokuma chuckled to himself.

"And when exactly does this field trip end?" Dave said, raising an eyebrow.

"Well who knows, it's meant to be indefinite." The bear shrugged.

"What!? You mean forever!?" Cameron said, hyperventaliting.

"Well that is what indefinite means...seriously you people are useless." The bear scoffed.

"There's no way we're staying on this crappy island forever, the joke's over now." Duncan said getting very close to the bear.

"Woah tough guy, I'd be very careful there." The bear said jumping up on the barrel to try and be more intimidating. "Violence against the headmaster is prohibited." As Monokuma said this, Mike noticed his red eye lighting up slightly.

"Umm Duncan..." Mike chimed in

"Quiet toothpick, now what you gonna do!?" Duncan hissed at Mike, before lifting the bear up by its neck into the air.

"Violence detected, initiating defence protocol 32..." The bear said as it's eye began to glow repeatedly.

"The hell are you chickening out for now?" Duncan sneered.

"Drop it!" Dawn yelled from the other side.

"What?" Duncan said turning back. As he didn't listen, Dawn grabbed the bear and threw it towards the water as far as she could, before it exploded.

"Did the bear just...explode..." Gwen said with her hands on her mouth.

"I'm not a bear, I'm a Monokuma, let's just clear that up now." Monokuma said, appearing right by the barrel as if nothing happened.

"Where did you just come from!?" Shawn yelled, taking a step back.

"Well I hope now you guys actually understand your situation." Monokuma started. "I'm untouchable." He simply said, but with that simple line a shiver went down almost everyone's spine realising he meant business.

"Now, are you guys actually ready to listen to me?" As he said this, he was met with silence. "Much better ya bastards. Now, there is a way out of the field trip if you really want to leave."

"And that way out is...?" Noah said, actually looking up from his book.

"Simple, you have to murder one of your classmates." The bear said, as he was met with another silence.

"Murder? The hell are you talking about?" Jo yelled.

"Yeah, why should we have to kill each other to leave?" Sky added in an attempt to reason.

"Who says I have to explain my reasons to you? Choke, gas, stab, poison, torture, decapitate, I don't care how you do it! Just murder one of your fellow classmates and get away with it!"

"What is this..." Trent said to himself, looking down in fear.

"Well, I'll let that sit with you guys for now." Monokuma said as he turned his back and began to walk away. "Oh, and welcome to the Camping Trip of Despair." Monokuma said with a chuckle, before disappearing.

As he left everyone turned to look at each other, without saying a word, but everyone knew was thinking the same thing that Mike was. What the hell is this, and how are they going to get out of it? Because one things for sure, Hope's Peak certainly wasn't living up to it's name right now.

And that's the opening chapter done and finally finished! Man twenty five students this is going to be soooo long, but I hope your happy with the cast and their talents, I'll be seeing you guys in the next part!
