After arriving at my cabin, i decided to dump all of my stats into Str as that's the only viable thing at the moment. I sure as hell cannot beat someone like Qrow in a swordfight so having incredible raw strength will hopefully even the odds.
Barry is now sitting in a plain wooden chair absolutely devouring stick after stick of shashliks like a starved lion. I had spent 18 Lien buying various spices and the beowolfs brought back random small games that I proceed to make shashliks out of, simple but delicious.
"Man, were you a chef before all of this or something?" Barry asks me with his mouth full.
"College life with an abysmal balance tends to make you resourceful, you should've seen how baffled my roommate was when I survived 5 weeks with only 60 dollars" I answer him eating my own stick of shashlik.
"So, what do we do after this?" Barry asks reaching for another stick.
"Well I know that it's late night and all but none of us are relatively tired plus there would be increased Grimm activity so I'd say we go hunting. Well…you are going hunting." I answer wiping my hands with some tissues.
"Pardon? You are not helping me?" Barry asks with some of his initial excitement dying.
"Well unless a real big one comes out then no, you need to learn how to fight by yourself before we even consider team attacks. That and me helping would probably split the EXP making the process way longer than what it needs to be." I explain to Barry standing up.
"That's reasonable I suppose, let's go then." Barry said halfway through the door.
{30 minutes later}
After quickly searching the area around my cabin we were able to spot a small amount of beowolfs in the area. Barry of course chooses to start with one at a time so I pointed him to an isolated one. The beowolf here is significantly older/stronger than the ones I met in the tutorial.

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" I ask Barry one last time.
"Yea yea, it's just one beowolf right? What's the worst thing that could happen." Barry tells me, oblivious to what he has done.
"*Face palm* you absolute moron you just jinxed yourself." I groan to Barry who just shrug and engage the beowolf. First, he draws its attention by firing a pistol shot direct impacting the beowolf's skull.
Successful hit (114-22)= 92 DMG
Clearly pissed at Barry's attack the beowolf attempts a wild haymaker which Barry manages to dodge with ease. As he was rolling away, Barry uses his momentum to slide himself back underneath the beowolf's belly for a quick jab with his axe.
Successful hit (61-22)= 39 DMG
The Grimm roars in pain before bending back on its hind legs with its eyes narrowed at Barry. Not even a second later and the beowolf has lunged towards him. However, in its blind rage, it didn't see the boulder directly behind Barry and crashes straight into it as he simply ducks. With the beowolf now staggered, Barry pulls out his pistol and reload before finishing it off with a another shot to the cracked part of its mask and this time comepletely tearing through its skull.

Huh, maybe I am being too cautious. Looking beneath the disintegrating corpse I notice that the beowolf also dropped 20 Lien and quickly pocketing the money. Barry wears a bright cocky smile on his face as he approaches me.
"See, I told you it wasn't that hard" Barry proudly claims only for the nearby bushes to rustle in challenge.
"You were saying?" I say back pointing Lunar Fang to the incoming threat.
And from within the bushes came the angry oinking followed by the sounds of tiny hooves on the dirt. That Grimm was none other than the boarbatusk.

"Oh neat fresh bacon, this is going to be easy." Barry claims, dashing into the fray.
"Barry wait!" My words fell on deaf ears as he was already 10 feet from the Grimm. The boar hisses at Barry as it curl into and roll at breakneck speed much like a certain blue hedgehog. Barry who decides to be a smartass thought that he could jump over the attack which is exactly what he attempted. Unfortunately, God has other plan for him.
The boulder which the beowolf has smashed into earlier has left decently sized chunks of stones on the ground. The same chunks that the boarbatusk proceeds to hit like a ramp as it joins Barry in the air. Realization dawns upon Barry as his expressions turn into one of sheer terror. *BAM*
…The attack…has landed directly on…his balls…Yikes.( the lion sleeps tonight starts playing)
Barry lands on the ground with his face scrunched up like a prune, calmly holsters his pistol and lays down his axe before *AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*
Welp shit, that scream has probably attracted all the other Grimms in the area like a moth to flames. And as if on cue, 12 more beowolfs followed by 2 ursa and 3 boarbatusk charge into the area. Welp it's show time, I call all of my beowolfs to my side for the battle ahead.
Somehow even in excruciating pain, Barry has managed to limp his way back to me before the Grimms could attack and I let 4 beowolfs guard him while he recover. The first to attack was the hostile beowolfs with 6 of them coming from left and right for a pincer attack. 3 seconds of fumes and the half of the left flank is paralyzed as my beowolfs finish the job and unloading Lunar Fang was able to take 3 more down on the right flank.
The boarbatusks see it fit to charge in at this moment as the 4 of them simultaneously curl into a ball and begin speeding towards Barry. I intercepted 2 of them with explosives by using the temporary beowolfs as roadblocks tossing them off-track. Another was within arm reach as it passes me and I rewarded it with a feral slash flinging it back like a beach volleyball.
Leaving 4 beowolfs to guard Barry was a great idea as one of them takes the charge head on flipping it over as the rest starts tearing its exposed guts out. Barry now recovered, vengefully stomps over to the last boarbatusk and straight up butcher it, slamming his axe down like a pissed off barbarian.
Wait, am I missing something? *GROOOAARGH* ah right, the yogi bears. Using their lack of speed and maneuverability to my advantage, two quick dark energy beam to their heads and they were already near death. Barry seeing the opportunity in front of him, grabs a Molotov off his belt and torches the 2 ursa.

"Yes…please" Barry rasps out, holding onto a beowolf to stand.
"I think that's enough grinding for the day, come on I'll patch that up and we're going to visit 2 lovely girls." I say helping Barry onto a beowolf to carry him back.
{Back at the cabin}
"Ooohhh that feels sooo good" Barry says clutching an ice pack between his legs.
"You know that would sound extremely weird taken out of context." I point out, sipping on a fresh mug of hot chocolate I recently bought for 3 Lien.
"What did I ever do to deserve this?" Barry asks no one in particular.
"I don't know, maybe it has something to with you tempting fate and jinxing yourself." I suggest taking another sip.
"touché, anyway you mentioned something about visiting 2 girls, who are they?" Barry asks.
"Take a guess, who could it possibly be?" I deadpan at him.
"Wait…Ruby and Yang?" Barry asks back.
"Well yes but actually no." I answer confusing him further.
"Man you're starting to sound cryptic like Ozpin." Barry frowns at me.
"It's best that you see for yourself, come on." I point towards the door.
{A while later}
"OH…MY…GOD!" Barry says slack jawed staring at Ruby and Yang who are now hiding behind me.
"THEY'RE SO SMOL I JUST WANT TO HUG THEM TO DEATH!" He screams in a high-pitched tone rushing to the girls.
"Woah easy there mr pedophile, you're scaring them" I motion to the shaking Ruby clinging on my leg for dear life and Yang who looks like she's on the verge of running away to call the police.
"Oh um I mean uhh…hi there kids I'm Barry Blue a…friend of Onyx over there." Barry says this time walking slowly instead of dashing to the sisters. Ruby and Yang of course still didn't trust him as they scooch even further away and I swear that I could hear the sound of Barry's heart shattering.
Not wanting to make this anymore awkward, I pry Ruby off my shin and place her onto Barry's shoulder. Ruby suddenly finds herself separated from her safe haven that was my leg and curls into a ball at the sight of Barry, trying to disappear. Seeing how scared the little petal was, Barry gently brushes her hair with his hand until Ruby eventually stops quivering.
She looks at Barry again with eyes now filled with curiosity instead of fear. "F-friend?" Ruby shyly asks.
"Of course dear, I'm a friend." Barry replies hugging Ruby with her happily returning it. Though quiet as this moment may be, the inner aura of joy radiating off of Barry is fucking blinding me with its intensity.
"Aren't you forgetting about someone Barry?" I ask while nudging Yang closer.
Yang having have seen her sister hugged Barry ease up with him and joins in on the group hug which I soon partake in too because why not?
"Wait…he has a name?" Yang asks pointing at me.
"Well everything has a name kid, you just have to get to know them better." Barry shrugs putting Ruby back down.
"Ooh ooh can you take us to the park?" Ruby asks with star in her eyes hopping excitedly in place.
"I don't see why not, though shouldn't Summer and Tai be doing that?" I prompt Barry to ask them.
"Sure but aren't your parents supposed to take you there." Barry questions.
"Mom and dad has been busy, we rarely see them other than at the weekends. Mom said something about a bad monster running around." Yang says looking down.
"Huh, I didn't think Ozpin would push them to pursue me this much." I muse.
"Well don't you worry your little heads about it, ole Barry and Onyx here will give you a great time! TO THE PARK!" Barry exclaims already dashing away.
"Park's the other way." I point out to Barry as he trips over and sheepishly follows me.
{With Summer and Tai}
"Ozpin I know that this new player is dangerous and all but don't you think you're being a little too paranoid?" Tai asks as he checks over every hidden camera he just installed in the woods.
"Better safe than sorry Tai, I KNOW for a fact that there shouldn't be something on par with Salem herself." Ozpin's voice rings out from Tai's scroll.
*Ring Ring* "Oh hey, Qrow is calling" Summer says as she picks up.
"Hey Summer, I'm back for a little break from the Atlas trip." Came Qrow's voice.
"Oh how did you enjoy your time there?" Summer asks.
"Eh, the place is nice but everybody and by that I mean EVERYBODY even the ladies act like they all got a stick up their ass." Qrow complains.
"Hehe, that sounds about right." Summer chuckles.
"I didn't know you guys are off-duty, if so then I would have called ahead so we can go see some movies or something." Qrow says.
"Uh what? We're not off-duty Qrow." Summer says.
"Wait…if you guys are still working…who took short-stack and firecracker?" What follows Qrow's voice was pure silence as Summer processes what she just heard.
"Um Summer? What happened? Are you ok?" Tai asks walking over after finishing his call with Ozpin. Summer still didn't respond.
"Hello? Remnant to Summer?" Tai was about to wave his hand in front of Summer only for her to forcefully grabs it and starts making a mad dash back home with her semblance. "WHOA! Slow-*Gets hit by a branch* down *Gets hit by a bird* pleaseeeee" Tai pleads but Summer was having none of it.
"Um Summer are you still there?" Qrow asks through the scroll only to hear Tai's screams and a sudden gust of wind as the front door was slammed open to reveal Summer with her eyes blaring. She drops Tai who was now a crumpled heap of leaves and branches on the floor and starts scanning the front yard like the terminator before turning to look in the direction of the park.
{With Onyx and Barry}
Barry was playing tag with Yang around the trees and I was pushing a gleeful Ruby back and forth on the swing before I get this feeling that I'm about to die.
"Hey Barry, is it me or was there an extremely unsettling chill just now?" I ask Barry.
"Yea, what could have caused that though?" He asks back clearly not expecting an answer.
*FWOOOSH* *Achoo* Ruby sneezes as something rubs again her nose. I look closer to see that the offending object was a white rose petal…Oh Fuck me sideway. I freeze up completely barely having the courage to look behind me as I already know that there's going to be a pissed off silver eyes warrior standing there. Wait…I look back to Barry seeing that he hasn't noticed her yet and is still playing with Yang like nothing has happened.
Summer must have seen him as I begin to hear her footsteps going further away from me and towards his direction. UH OH! "BARRY STOP!" I scream for his sake but unfortunately he was too busy play-tickling with Yang to hear my mental shout. "HIT THE BRAKES BARRY!" This time he has indeed heard me but it was already too late for Summer's shadow was already looming over him.
"Mom!" And Yang's cheerful voice has confirmed for Barry that his days are now over.
"Cover your eyes sweetie." Summer's calm voice contradicted the immense hatred I can sense boiling within her. Yang did so and seeing how Summer's hand was balled into a fist and raised, I swiftly cover Ruby's eyes as well. *BOOOM!* The punch if that could even be considered one, hit Barry like a train directly in his nuts. To Barry's credit he didn't even so much as flinch …but that's because he has fainted from the shock of the pain and falls face first into the dirt.
Summer then performs the famous motor mouth Ruby is known for as she asks Yang multiple questions at a speed that would even make Oobleck dizzy. Taking this chance, I silently drag the near dead Barry away from the park, clear of the dangerous woman.
"God…is that you?" Barry mumbles groggily reaching to sky with his hand.
"Shhh…sleep it off Barry" I soothe him, already ordering medical supplies through the store.
"Are you going to visit us again mr Onyx?' Ruby asks from her swing to which I just nod and give a so-so gesture, I doubt Barry would want to be anywhere within 10km of Summer after this.
"Do you have any idea how worried I was for the both of you?" Summer shouts at Yang.
"B-but we just w-wanted to go to the park. Did mr Barry do something wrong?" Yang asks back.
"Barry? *looks back to find him gone* We'll talk more about this later, I'm sure your uncle is also worried about you. " Summer says dragging Yang and Ruby back home.
{at the cabin}
"ooohhh, what happened." Barry mumbles waking up on the cot.
"Well I had to spend another100 Lien buying medical supplies to fix you up" I answer pointing to the table filled with rubbing alcohol, bandages, medkits and bottles of painkillers.
"Okayyy? What exactly happened?" Barry asks still trying to recall.
"Ah well with you being a great one hybrid I wasn't sure that you can even have kids but after seeing Summer Rose herself sends a haymaker to your jimmy, I'm pretty sure that you are now infertile." I reply. And at this moment, the painkillers wear off as Barry hisses in pain falling back down onto the cot.
"Summer-GAH-Rose? As in Ruby's mother?" He asks me.
"Yup, To be fair you did look kinda fishy. The whole masked stranger must have really made her saw you as a pedophile." Barry looks at himself again and just sighs sadly.
"At least I got to spend quality time with mini Ruby and Yang." He mutters before suddenly looking out the window.
"Hey do you hear that?" He asks me. Now that Barry mentions it, I notice how unusually windy it is today as if there's a storm approaching Patch. I walk outside and looks up for signs of storm clouds only to find something much much worse. Atlesian airships.
"Sweet mother of god!" I say in shock.
"What is it Onyx?" Barry asks from inside.
"Something extremely bad." I say running back in.
"Umm extremely bad as in cliché horror movies ominous omens bad?" Barry guesses.
"As in we need to move to another continent bad, the fucking Atlesian military is here!" "WAIT WHAT! Oof!" Barry falls down onto the floor and crawls to the window to take a look at it himself."
"WHAT THE HELL!" Barry frantically looks at me for an answer.
"My guesses are that I underestimated tin man's paranoia, I'm getting pack the medical supplies in a pouch or something and I'll carry the furniture in my inventory." My answer clearly didn't help Barry understand in the situation in the slightest, if anything his eyebrows just rose further at the mention of "tin man". Ah right, he hasn't watched volume 2 yet.
"Ok but how exactly are we going to escape Patch?" Barry asks me.
"Don't worry, I have the perfect plan." I inwardly snicker at the chance to try something so stupid it might just work.
{Patch's dock}
The dock of Patch was busy as ever with workers shuffling back and forth loading various cargo on boats. A certain group of workers however was struggling to lift their share of work being a massive coffin.
"Gah what even is in this damn thing!" A worker complains.
"Oi! Don't act rude like that, this here is a Mistralian coffin, do you want to get haunted by disrespecting the dead?" Another worker snaps back accidentally causing the others to drop the coffin.
"Hey, did you guys hear something? It sounded like it came from within the coffin." A worker points out as he swears he heard a faint grunt when the coffin hit the ground.
"Oh shut your paranoid ass up Jeremy, for all we know that might be the fucking spirit itself, the sooner we get this over with the better."
After another 20 minutes of careful navigation and sheer will, they were finally able to load the coffin onto a small ship headed for Mistral. Soon enough, all of the workers leave to resume with their other heavy lifting. Unbeknownst to them, after the storage door was closed, the coffin begins rocking back and forth before tipping over as Onyx, Barry and 13 beowolfs tumble out from the cramped space inside.
"How in God's name did that work?" Barry asks, dumbfounded at the stupidity of the plan.
"Hey, if a blonde vampire fuckboy can pull it off then so can i. And besides, this is Rwby, do you really think normal logic applies to everything?" I say dusting myself off.
"So now we're going to stay in Mistral?" Barry asks making himself comfortable on a pile of sacks.
"For the time being yes, there's a lot of shit we need to do before canon and we have yet to touch Menagerie, Atlas or even Vale for that matter. I guess we can kill time with me catching you up with the events of volume 2." I say taking a seat on a barrel as I begin to give Barry a basic run down of volume 2.
Author's note: Sorry for the delay guys, a new season of league came out and I had to help a lot of my buddies grind their rank. This chapter is mainly meant for the transition to Mistral where Barry and Onyx will encounter and help team JNPR, yes including Jaune too. I'm thinking of them helping Jaune train to be a decent enough fighter to be on par with Cardin (which is still kinda shitty) so that he won't need to forge his transcripts so I can do my own spin of Jaunedice when the time comes. Raven's tribe was mentioned to be around Anima so who knows, maybe our 2 bumbling idiots will run into her as well.
