Summary: Dying sucked. No name learned that the hard way, however being reborn can suck just as much, especially if you're reborn in a Fantasy world without all the comforts. Now thrown into a world where he is just a talented kid with no political or God connections. All he has is elbow grease and maximum effort.

Chapter 0: Gods Grand Designs.

Location: The Plains of Reincarnation

Place: Soul Alter

Time: infinity

Looking around the soul could barely grasp the fact that everything seemed dark. The soul barely remembered anything. Or at the Soul couldn't remember it's name. It had memories like those that were pertained to its mother, father, and siblings. It remembered it's former job, hobbies, and the like, but not its name. The soul tried to rise, but it was hard to figure out how to move.

"Wow I don't remember the last time I saw a soul here," came a voice.

The soul spun around and looked at the figure who spoke. He saw a woman sitting there and he had to admit that she was quite attractive. Light blue hair and eyes, a slim figure with ample breasts, long legs, wide hips, and blue waist-long hair that is partially tied into a loop with a spherical clip a sleeveless dark-blue feather dress with white trimmings, an extremely short dark blue miniskirt, a green bow around her chest with a blue gem in the middle, a translucent purple underskirt, and detached white sleeves with blue and golden trimmings. She wears thigh-high blue heeled boots over white stockings with blue trimmings.

"Who are you?" the soul said? Thought? It was confusing as hell

"Oh me. I'm Aqua. Goddess in charge of Resurrection, the Cycle of life, and the gates to the afterlife," said Aqua.

"Afterlife? Guess I am dead," said The Soul.

Aqua summoned a book, before opening it. "Yeah. You died of Old Age. Pretty boring stuff. You were married and had a few kids. Had a few different jobs. Factory worker, Security guard, Nothing too major in my opinion. You studied a few forms of combat, but you became quite familiar with knives as well as swords and... Bats? That's interesting. Personally, I don't even understand how this warrants you a chance at rebirth, but it does," said Aqua closing the book and tossing it away as it vanished.

"What's that?" asked The Soul.

Aqua sighed. "The higher-ups decided that one out of every hundred souls will get a chance to be reincarnated in one of the worlds. You wouldn't believe the number of worlds that exist and how much of a pain it is to manage them all," complained the Goddess.

The soul sweat dropped. "Your personality is kinda shit," said the Soul.

Aqua didn't even pay attention ranting a raving about nonsensical things. After nearly 15 minutes of ranting about someone named Eris and her flat chest, Loli big-boobs, and a slut goddess she turned back to the soul.

"First things first what do you want? Do you want to go to heaven or be put back into the cycle of Reincarnation? Although both are kinda lame if you ask me. In the cycle of Reincarnation, your memories are locked away, while if you go to heaven you stuck with a bunch of squares who don't know how to have fun,"

"What about the thing you mentioned earlier. Reborn into another world?" said the Soul.

"Oh that. Honestly it is a stupid balancing act. You see Demon Lords often escape hell and create a power base to do some pretty nasty stuff. Other times they influence humans to do evil things that start wars and the like. One Demon Lord caused a Zombie apocalypse. I looked in on it and a bunch of teenagers in Japan has been kicking ass for the 5 days that it's been happening," said Aqua (1)

The soul narrowed its eyes. "Is that the God's Grand design?"

Aqua shrugged her shoulders. "No clue. I've never been too big into the Politics the that the other gods delve into," said Aqua.

The Soul sighed. "If I'm going to this 'new world' then I need a new body," said the soul.

Aqua nodded. "Alright then," said Aqua as she pointed at a circle. "That right there is how you get your new body. I became quite well-versed in... RPGs not that long ago. I figured that this interface would work well for you humans from... Modern worlds.

The soul floated over to the circle and jumped right into it. Having played hundreds of hours of RPGs the creation process was pretty simple. The soul rolled through the creation Process in a matter of minutes.

Out of the circle came a young man about 17 or 18, standing at about 6'2, with toned physic with little fat on his body, mocha-colored skin, dark red eyes, and white hair that reached the nape of his neck. He was wearing a white tunic, pants, and no shoes.

Aqua looked at him and whistled. "Can't say you not easy on the eyes," said Aqua.

"Can you give me any information on the world I'm going to?" asked the man.

"Alright, Alright, geez. Don't get your panties in a twist," said Aqua as she summoned a book and allowed the information to filer into the man's head.

The man fell to his knees as his mind tried to filter out the useless knowledge. It would probably take a while to figure it out. Raising to his feet. The man glared at her.

"That hurt," said the man.

"Well if I had explained it to you, we'd be here all day. Oh, by the way. A standard with all these reincarnations is that you are allowed to take something into the world with you. A weapon, a power, so OP anime bullshit. Anything," said Aqua as she began to eat some chips.

The man took a seat and began to go over everything he knew about Anime, comic books, and video games to help him come up with what he wanted. Several things came and went from his mind in a flash. Things Like the Sharingan, Super saiyan transformation, One Punch man level of power, and The Power of Destruction. Not because they weren't cool abilities, but because they were too OP and done to death. Because he was taking a lot of knowledge into the world, he could figure out how to replicate some of them by designs and what he assumed was magic alone. And that's when it hit him.

His favorite game series of All Time was the Mass Effect Franchise. While he normally power-played an Infiltrator his secondary main was an Adapt. Adapts while they didn't have the ability to really use Rifles until the third game or a perk in the second, were increasingly powerful but were quite frail in the physical abilities department. While it was somewhat similar to the Power of Destruction, it didn't have the raw destructive power but was way more versatile. (2)

"Give me the abilities of an L5 Biotic from the Mass Effect series," said the man.

Aqua looked at him and tilted her head. "That lame-ass ability. I didn't think anyone would choose it. I figured a sword from BLEACH or Haki from One Piece. Hell I would have taken Chakra from Naruto.

"Trust me, just send me down and allow me to live my best life," said the man.

"Okay, Okay, but before I do. What's your name?" asked Aqua.

"My name?" asked the man.

"Yeah, your name. You died of old age and during your trip here you forgot it. I'm curious what your name is going to be?" asked Aqua.

The man opened his mouth but stopped himself from giving his true name. That name belonged to someone who died. Someone who no longer existed.

"Lockon. Lockon Farglade," said the newly named Lockon.

Aqua smiled. "Well, I hope you enjoy your new life Lockon. And I hope you can defeat one of the Lords of the Deep," said Aqua.

Lockon opened his mouth to ask what she meant, but he was teleported away before anything else could be said

It would be 18 long years before Lockon would meet Aqua again.
