Calderoneric758: You can, also I don't think they ever really did a version of Choke with Biotics since most biotic abilities are stupidly complex since they bend the forces of the universe themselves.

Chapter 1: Familia, Party, or Solo?

The world of Eslo was divided into two different adventuring groups. The Towers of Babal where many adventurers and Gods decided to make their home. It was considered the easiest place for adventurers to level up however their leveling system worked very differently from the rest of the world's leveling system. That was mainly because several gods called The Labyrinth City of Orario home. Any adventurer who took residence in the city and more importantly joined a Familia gained a Falna.

The Falna system was favored by the various gods of those lands. To them, it made perfect sense, but the problem was that Unless a God or Goddess upgraded a person's Falna they couldn't advance in strength. However, they were pretty much closed off from the rest of the world and lived on an Island nation that saw the rise of their own unique brand of adventuring and guilds.

The rest of the world worked off a Class leveling system where you could choose a class and branch off to subclasses. Even some jobs could be used to increase those. Of course, because of this system they didn't need a Familia, but large groups or Guilds were created around the Adventurers guild. These People didn't have the same protection of the gods and goddesses.

Switching between the two systems could be done, but it was a lot of time and effort. So once people accepted one of the systems and stuck with it. That wasn't to say that people didn't switch from time to time.

Location: Sovial Kingdom

Place: Road to Festiva

Time: Late Afternoon

A small caravan was travailing between several cities. It was a wondering trader and his band of adventurers as guards. The only thing they had to really worry about were the Highwaymen as well as the odd Goblin attack party. This was a pretty ordinary mission for the trader. Of course, he also had a few passengers in the back of his third cart.

One of the figures in the back of the cart had a brown tattered cloak with a hood up. Several of the people onboard looked at him, but he was minding his own business, reading a book. It was a book on metalworking. Of course, the old leather, bent spine, and yellowed pages told a tale of its own. It was a well-read book. Not something that sat in some noble's bookcase as a decoration.

The man looked up as the kids looked at him. He smiled and removed a bookmark from his cloak revealing his hands were dawned in black gloves with the outer fingers and thumb missing the fingers.

"Can I help you kids?" asked the man, his voice not so deep that it was scary, but it did carry some authority behind it if he forced it.

The Kids hid in their mother's blouse making the woman smile. "I'm sorry for my kids staring sir," said the mother bowing her head.

The man chuckled. "That's fine. Kids are curious little things. Always learning and trying to figure out the world," said the man as he reached into his pocket and pulled out some wrapped candy and handed it to the kids.

The kids smiled as they say down and began to eat the small candy with the mother smiling at them.

"Aye that they are. So, tell me sir what are ye travailing to Festiva for?" asked the woman.

"I'm going there to register as an adventurer. I heard it's one of the best cities to be an adventurer in. Aside from that, I want to avoid Axel City as well as others for a while," said the cloaked man.

"Why is that lad? It's one of the best cities for beginner adventures. My own daughter is an adventurer there," said an elder man.

The man snorted. "That city is basically designed to put adventuresses in debt to the guild there. They have an active Succubus Den in the city, overpriced shops, and the quests are laughable at best. The highest ranked adventurers there are Platinum ranked. Not even the strongest of the mid-ranked adventurers," said the cloaked man.

Several people looked at him. While it was well established that the plate ranks didn't match a person's level, disrespecting, an adventurer was highly frowned upon. Before anything else could be said the carts were called to a halt. Yelling could be heard. The Man jumped out of the cart and looked. In front of the carts was an Earth Dragon. A Gold Class Threat according to most Guilds. The adventurous looked at the dragon in fear.

The young man opened his cloak and drew two pistols from the holsters on his side. Both were modals after Beretta 92S. He took aim at the earth dragon and opened fire. The two bullets that left the barrels were covered in bluish-purple energy that slammed into the dragon, making it roar in pain as it turned its attention to the man. The man jumped into the air and fired four more bullets at the dragon's head. The large lizard roared again at the pain it was feeling and swiped at the man.

The Man crossed his arms creating a glowing barrier around himself as he was sent to the ground. The man rolled with the crash but managed to skid to a halt in a crouched position. The mage girl raised her staff.

"Firebolt!" yelled the girl firing off a large ball of flames.

It crashed into the dragon barely managing to agro the dragon to her, making her go wide-eyed. The dragon turned around and whipped its tail at the girl. She crossed her arms attempting to soften the blow but was sent flying into her comrades all the same. Glaring from under his cloak he put away both pistols and drew a short sword. Focusing some of his energy on the blade he jumped into the air and stabbed the blade into the head of the Dragon.

"Flare!" yelled the man pushing the energy into the sword

An explosion could be heard, but not seen from The dragon's head as it swayed before falling over dead. The Adventurers and Caravan Master looked at the man in shock. All of the adventurers were on copper plates with two silver plates as the leaders. They had a rookie mage on their team, but none of them had the skill or ability to kill an Earth Dragon, even as a team.

"Thank you for saving us lad," said the man

"Who the hell are you to jump on our job?" asked the leader of the group.

The figure drew his sword out of the dragon and sheathed it behind his back. Looking at his almost destroyed and blood-soaked cloak he removed it revealing himself to the group. Mocha skin, white hair that reached his shoulders, eyes the color of human blood. He wore a sleeveless black shirt revealing the tattoos on his arms, particularly the Oroboras tattoo on his left arm, fitted blue jean pants a rarity in the empire, a gun belt, and combat boots, His armaments considered of his sword and two pistols. Considering that most of his armaments were stored in his main travel bag, he was still well armed.

"Sorry about that sir, but it looked like you needed help. I'm Lockon. Friends call me Lok," said Lockon.

"Thank you for the help young man. As we are still a day away from Festiva. It will take us a few hours to harvest the earth dragon," said the man.

"Okay. Seeing as how you're harvesting it for me, I'll give you 20 percent of the take," said Lockon.

The Caravan head shuck his head. "40 percent. An Earth Dragon's hide is difficult to cut into unless you know what you're doing," said The Leader.

Lockon put a hand on his chin. "Split the difference. 30 percent and if there's a Dragon Peral, you can keep it," said Lockon sticking out his hand.

The Caravan head smiled. "Deal," said the man as they shuck hands.

The caravan head as well as his group took the wagons and took them off to the side of the road as the group got to work cutting up the dragon. The other passengers and Adventures took this time to leave the caravan and stretch. The kids decided that they wanted to play while the mother smiled at them

"What! We deserve those profits!" growled the Leader as he walked up to Lockon.

"Law of the last hit," said Lockon quoting the Adventurers guild Loot Laws.

The sole Silver-ranked adventurer growled. "You're cutting into my profits boy. Return to being a passenger and don't get in my way again said the man walking away.

As he walked away a girl came closer to Lockon. He noticed that she was about the same age as him if not a year or so younger, she stood at about 5'4" C-cup breasts, and was quite slender, had rust-colored hair, and green eyes that seemed to be slightly narrowed in arrogance more than malice. She seemed to have a case of resting bitch face, wearing a green knee-length dress shoulder-less dress with a yellow sash, a brown cloak, with a red gem keeping it classed, a witch's hat black elbow-length gloves, heeled boots, and in her left hand was a staff that was edged like a mace with a gem on the top. (1)

"That was ballsy of you to annoy the man," said the girl.

Lockon gave a small laugh. "He's just mad that he wasn't strong enough kill the dragon himself," said Lockon.

"Maybe, but you're not a licensed adventurer," said the girl, pulling out a small crystal type card from her pouch.

Lockon looked at the name and class only, seeing as how her level, abilities, and other such stats were hidden. Fidelia Norwood, a mage.

"So, I'm not, but then again you don't need to be an adventurer to do things to help people," said Lockon.

Fidelia gave a small smile. "That's an interesting way to look at things. I hope you consider joining the Adventurers guild. I think you'd make an interesting party member," said Fidelia walking away.

As she did Lockon was actually disappointed that her backside was covered by her cloak. He was sure that she had a pretty nice ass.

Location: Festiva

Place: Adventures Guild Hall
Time: Midday the following day

The city of Festiva was the 4th largest border city that sat on the intersecting border of the Sovial Kingdom, The Vatran Empire, and the Beast-men/OrcTribal Lands. While both the Empire and the Kingdom had Nobles and Court Officials representing them, the Tribes each had their own individual personal there A lot of work could be found inside of the walls. You were as likely to wind up a slave or left dead in an ally. The politics of several faction, criminal element, and various factions made for an interesting and quite a volitional mixture. All of it is coordinated by the Adventurers Guild. The highest of authorities within the city. The Guild Master was given honorary titles by both the Empire and Kingdom, while the Tribes would often work with the Guild.

The large building in the center of town served as the Guild Hall. It could be considered the standard affair of a Guildhall, only larger. Once within the City the Caravan was lead to the Guild where they collected the reward for completing the quest and the people who were passengers got off and began to disperse. Each member of the party that had defended the Caravan put their cards on a panel that allowed them to update the states on their cards.

After retrieving his bag which had a 357. Level action Rifle attached to it as well as his portion of goods and materials from the earth dragon, Lockon made his way into the Guildhall. He looked around for a bit and noticed that the Guildhall had a large trading and harvesting area on the upper floors. Probably to reduce the traffic that the Adventures made in the streets of the city itself. However, with the 3rd largest Adventurer Population across the Continent, it was pretty hard to not had traffic out in the streets. Lockon smiled as he walked up to the counter of the guild. The woman working the counter was a run-of-the-mill plain Jane.

"Hey," said Lockon.

"Hello, Sir. What can I do for you?" asked 'Jane'.

"Well ma'am I'd like to register as an adventurer," said the Lockon.

The woman nodded as she walked around the counter. "Please follow me, sir," said Jane.

The duo walked into the backroom where she led him to a small panel with a blue screen. She walked to the other side of the screen. As Lockon took a seat in the chair. She then began asking questions such as where he was from, Family history, and Criminal background. After 30 or so minutes she completes her task on the screen before Lockon put his hand on the screen. It scanned his hand before a small crystal Adventurers Guild ID card dropped into the slot as well as a copper plate that was about an inch in length as well.

"That is your official introduction to the Guild. With that card, you can take any quest befitting of your rank. You may also do a quest for a grade higher than yours, but the Guild has the option to dismiss this request. The Copperplate is a formality from the days before our time switching to the crystal cards, but as is a tradition all adventurers must carry it on their person. Your ID allows you to operate as a free agent within all territories that the Guilds operate in, and you are not bound to a specific country. That being said if your Home Region enforces a draft for the war then your status can be temporarily removed. citing Adventurers Guild War Bylaws as of the Treaty of Five Kings. You are also authorized to access the Guild sleeping quarters- for a modest fee of 20 silver a night-, the trading floor, and the tavern. In the event that you lose your ID A fee of 1 gold piece is needed to create another one. Do you have any questions at this time?" asked Jane. (2) (3)

Lockon shuck his head as the girl handed him his ID, plate, and a book on the Adventurers Guild Laws and regulations.

Walking out of the backroom Lockon looked at his ID.

Lockon frowned. Now that he was part of this system he would need to work hard to level up as well as create new skills and abilities. Pocketing his ID, he to see what quests were available to him. Looking at the messenger board nothing really stuck out to him. Sure a few Silver Class

"Hey Gunslinger," said A voice that he recognized.

Turning he looked to see Fidelia sitting at a table drinking a mug of something. Lockon walked over and took a seat, before ordering something to eat.

"How's it going Fidelia," said Lockon.

"I see you got registered as an adventurer. Also, it's Ms. Norwood to you," said Fidelia sipping on her drink.

"You get right to the point, don't ya lady?" said Lockon as his food arrived and he handed over 5 silver.

"Well time is money and my masters at the academy always imposed on us how serious wasting time is Mr. Farglade.

"What did you call me over for Fidelia?" asked Lockon other than to waste my time

"Call me Ms. Norwood as we are not friends. I was only hired onto that last quest to gain experience. It's my 3rd one, but I still haven't gotten anything more than escort missions," said Fidelia frowning deeply into her mug.

"What does that have to do with me?" asked Lockon cutting into his lamb.

"Rumor has it that a Goblin tribe has moved into Empire territory. I want to take it on," said Fidelia.

1: That is the Wizard from the first ep of Goblin Slayer. I didn't miswrite that. Her name was Wizard. I just gave her the name Fidelia Norwood to make it easier on me. Oh obligatory I do not own Goblin Slayer.

2: You would think that with how adventurer's guild work they would be connected and their own neutral entity that had nothing to do with wars and politics.

3: My standard conversion applies. 100 Copper = 1 Silver, 50 silver = 1 gold, 10 gold = 1 platinum
