Once upon a time, he was known as Nedley Lostmore. But that was a long time ago. These days, he was known as Shrunken Ned.
And he wasn't a colonel any more. He was now a shrunken… head.
Despite his obvious handicap, Ned enjoyed his life. Dispensing wisdom, welling fortunes, giving witch doctor advice for jungle maladies.
Sure, that advice was largely questionable most of the time, according to the Jungle Cruise skipper up and comers, but nobody could say Ned didn't enjoy dispensing that wisdom.
But he certainly was an interesting guy to train under, that much was true.
Shrunken Ned is one of the three fortune tellers of Disneyland along with Esmeralda, and Fortune Red. Though Shrunken Ned's affiliation with the Jungle Cruise training up and coming skippers means he pops up a lot in the Magic Kingdom on the East Coast as well. In fact, there was even a whole attraction named after him there: Shrunken Ned's Junior Jungle Boats (you just piloted a remote control boat). And he was even a main character in the Tales from Adventureland books.
Whereas Esmeralda and Fortune Red do not pop up anywhere else at all. That's a lie. Fortune Red does also appear in the Kinect Disneyland Adventures game while Esmeralda and Shrunken Ned do not. So there we go.
