Summary: A Darkus bakugan was send to Tokyo instead going to Vestroia with the other bakugan where he meets Mimete and team up to catch pure hearts. Can the Sailor Scouts defeat this new foe, or will the Battle Brawlers have to step up to help them out?

-Raye's Shrine-

"I'm finished!"

Dan looked up to see Serena finishing up her practice exam with her best time. The brunette smiled softly before getting hit on the head from Runo.

"Dan! Pay attention!"

Dan gritted his teeth, "I am Runo! And you didn't have to hit me!"

"Come on you two, stop it," said Shun as he looked over at Dan's homework. "You got problem five wrong. Just go back to the second step and subtract negative two."

"Oh," murmured Dan as he redid the problem. "So, any leads on finding that missing bakugan?"

Marucho sighed, "Preyas and I have been looking, but so far nothing. Amy has been helping me."

Julie pouted, "The same with me. Gorem and I have been like looking everywhere with Mina's help. I think I know this city inside and out by now."

Alice and Shun sigh, "Same with us."

"Same," said Runo before narrowing her eyes, "But since we're attending school, we can't forget about our studies just for one missing bakugan – or be dozing off!"

Dan frowned, "Hey, I'm studying. But math and science aren't my best subjects."

Runo was about to argue back when they overheard Raye snap at Serena about comparing not passing a simple test to getting her heart snatched once again. The brawlers peeked inside in Raye's room as they were studying at the porch since there wasn't much room for everyone.

"Raye does have a point, Serena. Just keep at it and you'll get better," assured Amy.

"Want to give it another shot?" Lita asked, softly.

"Ok, but not for time," replied Serena before taking a deep breath, "And maybe get a snack."

The girls laughed a bit when they heard a small cough. They turned to see the brawlers peeking their heads from the sliding door.

"What's going on over here?" Dan asked.

"Oh, it's nothing," replied Lita.

"Serena just got a bit upset that she didn't get her answer right, that's all. The six of you should go back to your own studies," explained Amy.

"We're almost done," said Alice.

"Yea, just curious on what Raye said," Shun frowned, "Did a heart snatcher really try to get Serena's pure heart?"

Luna sighed, "Not just Serena, but Amy, Lita and Raye's as well."

"Seriously?" Dan said before noticing Mina's aura, "Is there something wrong, Mina?"

"Mm – oh, ah! It's nothing Dan! It's fine, I'm totally fine! Don't worry about me," said Mina.

Dan frowned, "If you say so."

"Hey, how about a little break? What you say, Raye?" Amy suggested.

"That sounds like a great idea. Care to join us, little warriors?" said Raye, smiling.

"Oh yea! I'm starving!" said Julie, happily.

While Lita and Alice brought in the food, Dan looked over at Mina who was looking rather down for some odd reason.

"Dan…you don't think," whispered Drago.

"Yea, crazy as it sounds, but I think she's upset that her pure heart hasn't been snatched, but…why?" said Dan, softly.

Before Drago could say anything, Julie grabbed Dan's arm and pulled him over to her. "Oh Danny, you have to try this. It's totally delicious," she said.

"Hey!" Runo snapped, pulling Dan's left arm, "He was sitting with me, Julie!"

Julie gritted her teeth, "Back off sister!"

Raye sighed, "There they go again."

Everyone nodded minus Mina who was looking down at her hands with a sad look on her face. After an hour, it was getting dark, and everyone was getting ready to go home, but Runo and Julie were still insulting at each other.

"All you want is my Danny!" Julie snapped then smirked, "Guess what – he doesn't want you!"

"Oh yea, well, I don't think Dan would want a spoiled brat who thinks highly of herself and is self-centered!" countered Runo.

"Self…centered," Julie started to tear up, "That was mean Runo…I – I'll show you! I'll show you that you're wrong! You'll see!"

Runo crossed her arms, "Yea, right. You with a pure heart? Is when pigs fly!"

Julie gritted her teeth angrily before leaving the shrine in tears. With widen eyes, Mina ran after her while the rest of the brawlers shook their heads.

"Man, Runo. I know you can be snappy, but that was low even for you," said Dan.

Runo stuttered a bit, then pouted, "She'll be fine by tomorrow like always."

Serena leaned to Raye, "I think we found someone with harsher words than you."

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but you're right Serena," whispered Raye before narrowing her eyes, "But I'm going to fix that very soon."

"Good luck," the brawlers murmured.

Meanwhile, at the park, Julie was cleaning herself in the restroom while Mina was waiting for her at the swing set.

Mina sighed, sadly and looked down at her hands, "The heart snatchers have gone after the others…except me. I guess my heart isn't pure enough for them to snatch."

Artemis was about to reply when Julie appeared in front of Mina, pointing her finger at her face. "Like no way! Mina, you totally have a pure heart – a fabulous one at that!"

"Julie's right, Mina," then Artemis made a face, "Well, minus the fabulous part."

Mina and Julie glared at the white cat, "What did you say?!"

"Ah! N-Nothing!" Artemis said, quickly.

Mina sighed, looking at the night sky, "Maybe…I'm neglecting volleyball and they think my heart is out of shape or something."

Julie sat down next to her, "How would that show you have a pure heart, Mina?"

"I don't know," replied Mina, sadly.

Artemis widened his eyes, "Wait! Are you saying you want your heart snatched?! Do you think it will show your heart's worthy enough?"

"I have no idea," murmured Mina then looked over at Julie, "Are you feeling any better?"

"Mm, oh? I'm totally fine and over it," replied Julie before gritting her teeth, "But, I am going to show Runo that I'm not spoiled or self-centered! Let's see who gets the last laugh!"

Mina nodded before jumping out of the swing, "We'll show them! Come on, it's getting late, and we don't want to be late for school."

Julie smiled, jumping off from the swing before placing her hands on her cheeks with a panic look. "I totally forgot to ask Marucho to fix my grammar on my French report! I'm so busted!"

"Not to worry. I may not be as smart as Amy or Marucho, but I did pass French 1 with a B+ so I can help you there," said Mina.

Julie's eyes brightened before the two headed back to Mina's and worked on their assignments.

The next day, classes went by as normal and afterschool, Mina and Julie were at the gym. While Mina was practicing her volleyball strikes, Julie was at the stands doing her homework before joining Mina.

They played a few rounds but stopped when they heard Dan shouting. The two girls turned around to see Serena on the floor with volleyball markings on her face while Dan was hiding behind the doors.

Mina and Julie gasp before running to their fallen friend.

"Serena, are you alright?" Mina asked before looking over at Dan, "Did she get hit by any of the volleyballs we hit?"

Drago popped out from Dan's pocket, "Is she seriously asking that?"

"Easy Drago," said Dan.

Serena slowly got up, smiling, "Oh, I'm fine. Let's just say I wasn't fast enough to get out of the way. Not to worry, I'll be fine once the ringing in my ears stops."

"So, like what are you guys doing here?" Julie asked then slowly smiled, "Wait! Did you come to see me, Danny?" She wrapped her arms around Dan's neck.

The brunette sighed, "Yea, you can say that."

Serena stood up and dusted herself, "We came to help you two to cheer up."

"Oh, we're fine. Honest!" Mina laughed, "I mean sure we were feeling a bit down yesterday, but we're fine now, right Julie?"

"Totally fine," said Julie, happily, still holding Dan's arm dearly. "Aw, you're so sweet Dan. You were worried about me!"

Drago and Gorem jumped out from their partner's pockets, going over to Luna and Artemis.

"Humans are so strange," murmured Gorem while Drago nodded.

"See? Everything is fine," said Mina, walking to where the volleyballs were at, "All we needed is to hit a few balls, nothing more."

Serena and Dan looked at each other, sensing negative energy coming from Mina.

"Like I'm letting a silly jealousy take up my time. I'm totally over this heart thing, honest."

The two leaders sigh dramatically before Serena walked over to Mina and placed her hand on her shoulder. "Let's go to the arcade for a bit. Maybe that will take your mind off some things."

Mina frowned a bit before nodding and headed to the girl's locker room while the others put away the volleyballs.

Soon, they were at the arcade. Mina went straight to the claw machine and started playing while Serena was holding Mina's school bag. Dan and Julie were standing nearby.

Serena leaned to Mina, "So, are you sure you're not upset?"

Mina nodded, "Positive."

"And you Julie?" Dan asked.

"Most definitely," replied Julie, continuing to hold Dan's arm.

Serena and Dan looked at each other before looking back at their friends.

"You know Julie, you're not self-centered. You're one of the most supportive person I know," Dan smiled, "Don't let Runo's words get to you, ok?"

"Aw! Thanks, Dan!" Julie said, happily and hugged the brunette dearly.

"And Mina, you don't want to get your heart snatched anymore?" Serena asked.

"Nope, not at all," replied Mina, frowning a bit. She slowly turned her head to her friend, "Who told you that?"

"Oh, a little white birdie told us," Luna answered, lying on Dan's shoulder as Artemis looked down sheepishly while lying on Serena's shoulder.

"See? Nobody wants their hearts snatched," said Serena.

"Unless that nobody has a pure heart that was overlooked. A heart that the negative forces will love to have because it's totally dedicated, pure and good," said Mina with a zombie look on her face.

Serena widened her eyes, then walked over to Mina and waved her hand in front of her face. "Wait! Mina, blink! You're freaking us out here!"

Mina snapped out of her zombie state before looking at her friends.

"You're obsessing," said the leaders with a look on their faces.

"You're not going to make the heart snatchers believe you have the pure heart crystal they have been looking for," said Luna in disbelief.

Mina stepped back, "Well…"

Serena widened her eyes more before dropping their bags on the floor and grabbed Mina's shoulders. "Why would you want to do that? Heart snatchers wouldn't give it back!"

Dan quickly grabbed Artemis who had fallen from Serena's shoulders while Julie had a concern look on her face.

"Mina…don't do that! There're many ways to show you have a pure heart," begged Julie.

"Don't worry, guys. I'll get my heart back, promise," assured Mina.

Serena shook her head then shook Mina's shoulders, "You wouldn't have to get it back if they have to take it in the first place!"

Dan and Julie watch the girls argue back and forth, not knowing that Mina was pressing the buttons of the claw machine. Unknown to her, she was grabbing a few prizes.

"You don't know how I feel. You've been heart snatched," stated Mina.

"Yea and it's no picnic! Trust me, you don't want to go through it," argued Serena.

"Um, guys," Dan pointed at the claw machine, "You're going to leave that machine with no prizes if you keep this up."

Mina and Serena stopped, turned around to see how much prizes the claw got. "Jackpot!"

Dan sighed, "I'll…go ask for a bag for your prizes."

"Thanks," said Mina before making a face, "So, to win a prize, I need to play backwards – why didn't I think this before?!"

After bagging the prizes, the four set out and started walking around for a bit.

"You know Mina, the heart snatchers have one thing going for them and that's to see the purity of many different people, like Serena for example," said Luna. Artemis was walking beside her with a worried look while Drago and Gorem where traveling on their partner's shoulders.

"Her purity is being a goof off, she simply adores to eat, oversleep and make those dreamy eyes over Darien, but she's not a pure brain, or purely unselfish, or purely uncoordinated," finished Luna.

Serena blushed from embarrassment, "That's cruel, Luna."

"Mm, that's sort of like how Dan is," stated Drago.

"Don't you dare, Drago," warned Dan, but it was too late.

"Dan has a bit of a temper, a hot head, quite impulsive, a slight selfish when he wants to be and has one mind of brawling," stated Drago.

Dan crossed his arms, "Thanks a lot, Drago."

"So, just because the heart snatchers haven't targeted you, it doesn't mean you're not worthy," stated Artemis.

"I…I really don't care if they come or not," said Mina.

"Really? Do you mean that?" Artemis asked with doubt.

"Of course," said Mina then looked over to her friend, "Serena, can I ask you for a favor?"

"Sure," replied Serena.

"Can you take half of these toys?" Mina asked.

"Are you kidding me?! My mom would just make me dust them every Saturday with the rest of my room," replied Serena, giggling.

"But, given is a pure unselfishness," said Mina, offering the bag with the winning prizes. Dan, Julie and Serena had a shock look on their faces while Luna and Artemis shook their heads.

"Um, no, but thanks for asking," replied Serena, nervously.

"What about you Dan? I bet your mom would love some," said Mina.

Dan shook his head, "N-No, it's cool. My mom doesn't like those kind of toys."

Mina sighed, "Right – Oh! I'll be right back! I need to check something out! Julie, go with Serena! I'll meet you guys back at Serena's place."

"Um – Okay!" Julie said, happily, still holding Dan's arm.

"I think I've lost feeling on my arm," murmured Dan then looked over at Serena, "Should we follow her?"

"Mm, you know what…I think we should – let's go guys," said Serena.

The two nodded and carefully they followed Mina to a bookstore that was a few blocks away. The threesome watched as Mina entered the store and was looking at some books.

"What is she looking for?" Dan wondered.

"I'm not sure. Should…we keep spying on her?" Serena asked.

"I believe it would be best to leave her be for a while. She really needs to think things through on her own," replied Luna.

"Agreed," said Artemis and Drago. The threesome left the store and headed to Serena's place, but unknown to them, Shun was at the bookstore as well.

The Ventus warrior was just purchasing the books he needs when he spots Mina talking to Michelle and Amara. He quickly bought the books before carefully went over to them and listened to their conversation.

"I want to know how true pure heart people should behave. Do you think they are different?" Mina asked.

"Well, yea. Why are they targets?" Amara replied before getting a slight hit from Michelle.

"What Amara meant is that they target people who help. Pure hearts like to give," said Michelle.

"They help people, and they give," murmured Mina with determine eyes.

That's when a car with a sign that says 'Donate for those who need' passed by the bookstore. The diver was shouting, "Please come over to the blood doner drive! Give the gift of life! Please give blood to those…"

"Did we help?" Amara asked.

"Tons! See yea!" Mina said before dashing out of the store.

"Might be coincidence, do you think she knows?" Amara asked, placing the book she was looking at back in the shelf.

Michelle smiled, "I'm sure it has something to do with boys again."

"Right," Amara smiled a bit, "But, if she wants to know what a pure heart is like, she needs to look inside herself."

"I know. She's so sweet and caring," said Michelle.

"Wait! Excuse me, Michelle, Amara!" Mina shouted as she dashed back to them. The two outer scouts turned around to see Mina was handing them a toy each. "Have a prize! From my heart," she said before leaving the story again.

Shun watched the two girls leave, accepting the gifts before he too left the store and headed over to Serena's place. 'I get this feeling that Michell and Amara knows something that we don't, but if they do, does that mean they – I have to discuss this with Dan and Serena,' he thought.

-Break Line-

Well, Shun feels suspicious about Amara and Michelle. What are they talking about?

Meanwhile, Serena and Dan must make sure to keep an eye on Mina and Julie…mostly Mina, just in case the heart snatchers get the idea on snatching their hearts…oh boy.

Find out in part 2! Ciao for now!
