Though the Lagoona Gator had long been forgotten, he still existed in Typhoon Lagoon, as there were remnants of his past '90s popularity. Back when everything was "extreme" and "to the max".
While his counterpart at Blizzard Beach, the Ice Gator, loved to ski… the Lagoona Gator preferred to surf. So surfing's what he did.
When guests went home at the end of the day, he'd grab his surfboard and head into the wave pool for some surfing fun.
He didn't need popularity to feel good about himself. Especially when he could get that feeling from a well executed cutback.
Oh man. The Lagoona Gator.
He was brought into Typhoon Lagoon in the 90s because of the popularity of the Ice Gator over at Blizzard Beach as a mascot. Let's face it, Ice Gator is just… it's a top notch pun. That's why he stayed around and the Lagoona Gator did not.
That and the Ice Gator mascot was natural, while the Lagoona Gator was forced.
Back in the 90s, there was all kinds of Lagoona Gator stuff - merch, branding, statues, even a meet and greet.
All that's left is the statue, and a few other remnants like a painting here, a pin there. If you know the right places to look, of course.
