Zero's Lady

Prologue

Unknown's POV

It was dark, but I could hear it.

The shooting, the explosions and...the sound of innocent civilians crying out before they were silenced.

Men, women, elderly and not even children.

No one was spared.

I felt a familiar whimper and I immediately realised my little cousin was going to cry again.

"Don't cry, Kaguya."I instructed. "I'm right here. I'll never leave your side."

All the sudden the noises coming from outside suddenly stopped and there was utter silence.

Did the war end or what is it some kind of trick that the Britannian soldiers were playing just for more innocent civilians to come out and kill them all?

That's when we heard it.

The sound of footsteps approaching to the place where we were hiding.

Me and Kaguya shut our eyes and embraced each other more as we waited for the worst.

The door slowly opened causing the setting sun's light to shun on us and we saw-

"Lord Kirihara!"A soldier called out. "We found them!"

Rin and Kaguya slowly opened eyes and saw soldiers gathered outside the ruins that was once their home.

Rin was a ten year old girl with chestnut brown hair tied in a ponytail, sapphire blue eyes and pale skin. She wore a white, thigh-length dress with a sailor collar that has black lining, as well as a bright emerald bow to complete the classic sailor look. She also wore knee-high white socks and white Mary Jane-style shoes with emerald bows on top of the straps.

Kaguya was a seven year old girl with long black hair, green eyes and pale skin. She wore a traditional hakama that was white at the top and the bottom was bright red. She wore a pair of black combat boots on her feet.

Rin stood up before helping Kaguya up her feet and held hands with her as they approached Lord Kirihara.

"Lord Kirihara, is the fighting finished?"Rin asked. "Did we win?"

Lord Kirihara bowed his head down with his eyes closed while gripping his walking stick with his hands.

"No, Lady Rin."Lord Kirihara declared. "The Britannians have defeated us. We have lost the war. And your parents…they are no more."

A shocked look appeared on Rin's face.

Her parents were gone.

They were never coming back.

Kaguya became worried as she stood close to Rin.

"If Uncle Istvan and Aunt Mika are gone."Kaguya said as she began to sob. "Does that papa is-"

"I regret to your father hasn't survived either, Lady Kaguya."Kirihara replied.

Tears came out from Kaguya's face as Rin wiped away the ones coming out of her eyes.

"So what does this mean for us, Lord Kirihara?"Kaguya asked. "The leaders of Kyoto?"

"Neither of your parents have survived, Lady Kaguya."Kirihara stated. "You are now the young head mistress of the Kyōto House."

"Me?"Kaguya said in surprise. "But what about Rin? She's older than me."

Rin shook her head.

"You are the rightful successor of the Sumeragi Clan, little sister."Rin stated, smiling softly at her cousin. "I maybe your cousin, but I am half-Britannian."

"Okay."Kaguya answered with a nod.

"Let us leave now."Kirihara instructed and frowned. "The Empire is going to bring more soldiers soon to continue their massacre."

Rin and Kaguya held hands together as they followed Kirihara and the soldiers away from the damaged area to go to their new home.

Rin later went to meet up with her friends; Lelouch, Nunnally and Suzaku at one of the deserted damaged areas of the battlefields.

Lelouch was a ten year old boy with raven black hair, purple eyes and fair skin. He wore a pale blue sailor shirt with a black sailor kerchief on it, short blue trousers, grey socks and black shoes.

Nunnally was a six year old with sandy brown tied in two little pigtails that had two red ribbons on them and pale skin. She wore a pale pink shirt with orange overalls, short white socks and orange flats. Her eyes were shut and she sat on a wheelchair due to her disability.

Suzaku was a ten year old with dark brown hair, forest green eyes and olive coloured skin. He wore a grey t-shirt, dark grey trousers and black shoes.

"What do you mean you and Nunnally are going to be dead?"Suzaku asked.

"Only on paper."Lelouch replied. "We'll change our names too. It's a perfect chance to fool Britannia. If they think we're dead, they can't use us as our tools or pawns anymore."

"But Lelouch what about Cornelia and Euphemia?"Rin suggested. "Can't you and Nunna live in their villa?"

Lelouch shook her head.

"No, Rin."Lelouch replied with a small frown. "We may get protection from Cornelia, but it won't change anything. The Emperor will still find a way to use us."

"So you'll live on your own?"Suzaku asked and looked at Nunnally. "What about you, Nunnally?"

"All I want is to be with my brother."Nunnally said with a gentle smile. "We'll be okay."

"We've got some good news we can make."Lelouch remarked. "The Ashfords landed with the occupation forces."

"Alright."Suzaku said. "You said they were at your side and all. Still…"

"Milly's mother may want to her off to some grand nobleman for their family to return back to nobility."Rin exclaimed. "I doubt she will try to make her marry off to you since you are a former Prince of Britannia, Lelouch."

"Your right."Lelouch agreed. "Guess they probably want us as insurance in case things go wrong."

"Insurance?"Suzaku said in confusion.

"Things are pretty complicated back home right now."Lelouch stated.

"Well, at least you know it can work out for you."Suzaku commented.

"Yeah."Lelouch replied. "I'm going to make sure it does."

Nunnally looked at Suzaku.

"Suzaku, what about you?"Nunnally asked. "What are you going to do?"

"There's our teacher Mr Tohdoh?"Rin suggested. "You can stay with him."

"I tried, but I haven't been able to reach him."Suzaku admitted. "Mr Kirihara said I should go to the Army General's Headquarters."

This caused Lelouch and Rin to become stunned.

"You mean the Britannian army?"Lelouch said.

"It's my only choice."Suzaku answered. "The Kyoto Group is now cooperating with Britannia now."

Rin looked down with a bothered expression.

"They didn't tell me that."Rin retorted and looked at Suzaku. "Suzaku, why don't you stay with me and Kaguya? You are Kaguya's relative as I am."

"I maybe Kaguya's cousin, but I am not a Sumergai like you and her."Suzaku reminded and gave a small smile. "I'll be okay."

"Suzaku…"Nunnally started.

"Look if things are so dangerous right now, it's better if I have someone to take care of me."Suzaku suggested. "I mean I'm the Kururugi heir. So…"

"Yeah."Lelouch replied. "Yeah. You're right."

"Well good luck and be very careful."Rin instructed. "I doubt Japan will never be the same after this war."

Suzaku nodded. "I will, Rin."

"Suzaku, give me your hand."Nunnally instructed and Suzaku places his hand onto hers. "Please don't forget. My mother told it to me a long time ago. As long as theirs a hand reaching out to you, things will be okay."

"Thank you, Nunnally."Suzaku thanked.

"I hope we'll see you again, Suzaku."Nunnally remarked.

"Stay safe until you do, Nunnally."Suzaku stated.

Rin gives a short smile as she looked at her friends.

"I better go now."Rin admitted. "I'll see you guys all later then?"

"See you later, Rin."Lelouch commented.

"Bye, Rin."Suzaku said.

"You and Kaguya be careful."Nunnally instructed.

Rin nodded before walking away as Suzaku handed to the direction behind him while Lelouch departed with Nunnally to head to their new destination.
