Ok, so… hi there, I'm Alptruam, and welcome to Snapshot in the dungeon, my first fanfiction that I've taken seriously. Now for those who are returning or are wondering why this looks different… well… as pointed out by Ashran31, who left reviews that brought to my attention that i have not touched this or the first 6-8 chapters since i have first started writing apart from a very minor rework. Which was several months ago and probably close to a year. If not more.
Now this is going to be a complete rewrite of the first few chapters because they are desperately needed. This was originally written when I first started and being a tiny bit more mature I believe it is needed to better fit the overall story. Plus I can get rid of some of the things I no longer wish to have included.
…actually at that point I might as well rewrite the entirety of this thing. Screw it, the first few chapters will be rewritten but beyond the 'redone' chapters I'll keep it as it does show my progress as a writer and how this story has gone. Hopefully this becomes better grammatically.
I don't own danmachi or anything else used in this.

"Ow… my head." I groaned as I slowly stirred, feeling my head pound as consciousness slowly returned to me. I blinked as the sunlight hit my eyes, taking a few seconds to remember whether or not I left the curtains open last night. Unfortunately a brisk breeze proved that wrong. "Ok? Why am I outside?"
Slowly I sat up, taking in my surroundings and the fact I was definitely not wearing my Pj's. looking around I realized i didn't have my glasses on and the environment wasn't a blur. Feeling more than a little creeped out I checked my body and felt my eyebrows shoot up.
"I definitely didn't have these last night." I said, fear and something else I couldn't tell rising inside me. "And these are not my clothes."
Protruding out of my chest, or would it be attached to my chest? Apart from my chest? I don't know, the point is I have breasts when I really shouldn't. Unless someone completed it, from my understanding, several years of work turned me into a girl. I should not have these attached to me. How I didn't notice my voice being different could probably be excused by the general confusion.
I took a closer look at my clothes, something about them being familiar. Like it was at the tip of my tongue. It took what felt like hours to figure it out.
For some odd, unexplained reason I was wearing a M40 field uniform used by Germany during WW2. Patting my body I felt the wool tunic along with feeling the very strange body that was now mine. I shivered as my hands touched the area near my… breasts, this was going to take a while to get used to, I can already tell. Or I could go the poor route and find something to drink and drown my fears.
"Ok, I know for a fact that I haven't ever taken drugs that could do this, not that I really know what drugs that could do that. My studies haven't really gone into hallucinogens, unless you count anesthesia." I said. This was really starting to creep me the fuck out. Taking a deep breath I closed my eyes and counted for ten seconds, trying to calm my quickly fraying nerves.
I got to 5 before I started screaming.
It took me probably 20 minutes to calm down enough to look around the clearing I woke up in. I held my head in my head in my hands as I slowly paced, trying to keep myself from either having a panic attack or a mental breakdown. I walked over to the bag I noticed sitting near a tree stump not far from where I woke up. Next to it was a familiar Mauser argentino modelo 1889 that I guess used to sit in a corner of my room and a C96 pistol that I know for a fact I didn't own. I'll figure out the little things about my body in a little bit, this was more important.
The bag was actually really neat looking, it looked like a medium to large fantasy-style backpack that was a dark purple with the sewing being black. The top flap had two bright orange buttons sewed on and a white jack o lantern grin underneath. Best of all, there were a lot of pockets, a lot of open space, and there were no manufacturer marks.
"This does not fit at all." I said looking between my clothing and the backpack.
Grabbing the bag I sat on the stump and dug through the bag to see if there was anything inside that would be able to tell me what was going on. Undoing the laces I stuck my hand into the bag and grabbed ahold of the first thing I felt and pulled out a roll of, hold on, Pea… soup? I don't know how I know what the clearly German text meant but I had a roll of easy transportable Erbswurst soup.
Feeling more than a little confused as to how i have a discontinued food product i reached back into the bag and started pulled out even more rolls of erbswurst, Krackebrot packages, over 2 dozen tins of meat, more rolls of liverwurst, a fuckload of WW2 era rations in pristine condition that if I was back home could probably earn me more than a few grand, a ton of other food stuff, more than enough medical stuff to supply a army field hospital, several pairs of clothing, and enough 8mm bullets to make a collector faint on the spot.
"Ok, so that is a lot of stuff." The amount of stuff that came out of the backpack made a small mountain taller than the stump I was sitting on and took me over half an hour to take out. A slowly ran my hands through my hair, feeling the still soft hair that now reached my neck. I was pissed that someone cut my previously back length hair but there was little I could do about it. "And nothing tells me where the heck I am or why I'm a completely different race."
It was really quite the shock to find a pair of pointed ears hanging beneath my hair in addition to the fact I was now a completely different gender.
Something tells me there will be quite a few panic attacks in my future.
"I am going to kick the teeth in whoever took me and threw me into this world." As if to spite me like it always did, my stomach decided to take the opportunity to growl like a lawnmower, that didn't make sense. "And apparently I'm hungry. Wonderful. Just freaking wonderful."
I quickly dug through the magic bag of holding and grabbed the first thing that I saw was edible. Which was a package of crisp bread. Sighing I opened the package and took out a piece before stuffing the rest into a package. shoving the piece of bread into my mouth I grabbed my new backpack and guns, before I started making my way into the forest. If need be, i'll eat one of the ration tins later but right now i wasn't sure if i could stomach it.
I didn't have a map, any idea where i fucking was, or anything that could help me. As far as I know this might be the best course of action.

The normally peaceful forest, full of wildlife and critters of all shapes and sizes, was broken by the cracks of a gun going off and the rapid breathing of our protagonist.
"Fuckfuckfuck." I breathed out as I jumped over an exposed root.
Speaking of critters of shapes and sizes, a trio of large as fuck scorpions were chasing me down like I was a particularly nice piece of meat. They were larger than a riding lawn mower with the pincers and singer to match.
I had found them while I was walking and came across what looked like an abandoned village, complete with broken walls and cobwebs, and when I had just passed the first building one of the big bastards came around the corner and spotted me. After staring at me for a second on account of me freezing it released a horrifying loud screech and started chasing me. I, scared shitless, pulled out the C96 I woke up with and after fumbling around with the unfamiliar gun managed to bring it to bear and score an eye shot after shooting it a few times. Thankfully the tough exoskeleton didn't extend to the insides so I guess the .45, and wasn't that a strange thing to find out, tore the insides apart and killed it.
Still, after I managed to kill the one scorpion looking thing, three more came from the village and started chasing me. Since I really didn't want to find out if they had poisonous barbs or how those pincers could kill me, I ran like a bitch.
Which led me to my current moment, of being chased through a forest.
'By mother Mary, these things are stubborn.' I thought as I ran around a tree. With no idea how to shoot these things without getting lucky again I stowed away my thoughts and continued running.
Tree after tree passed me as I tried to think of some way to either lose these things or kill them, since they obviously weren't trying to bring me to a tea party. Wiping my head back I fired the C96 again, this time hitting a scorpion near an eye and causing it to screech in pain and lag behind in the chase. The sight was a welcome one.
'If I can get in a tree I can shoot them from above without worrying about getting crushed by those pincers.' the C96 wasn't the best at penetrating hard materials but if I can get a bead on with the Mauser the powerful 8mm cartridge should be more than enough to crack their shells.
In the distance though the sparse trees I could see a clearing coming up which was a good thing as the scorpions would be in the open while I would have the high ground. I could feel a smile grow on my face at the thought and made myself run just the tiniest bit faster as I heard the Clicking of mandibles behind me.
A few minutes later that smile dropped off my face as I got closer to the 'clearing' and had to stop myself from crying out in despain from what I was actually running towards. Turns out what I had thought was a clearing was really a cliff edge that from a distance looked just right right that it looked like one. I skidded to a stop just before I hit the edge and peered over the edge, trying desperately to not faint from the situation.
"Ow fuck thats a big drop." I said aloud as I looked at the river below me, luckily there weren't any jagged rocks poking out of the water ready to skewer me like a kebab. "I'm going to have to jump, aren't I?"
Just as I was about to ask if I offended some god in a previous life, I heard the Scorpions burst out of the tree line. I paled even more at the pissed off looking visuals each of them were giving off, the clacking of pinsors and angry clicks of their mandibles were both very good indicators of how they felt about me shooting them. Cursing, I shoved the C96 back into the holster and unslung My mauser before taking aim. Aiming right at the eyes of one of the Scorpions, I took a deep breath and squeezed the trigger.
I blinked a split second later as instead of hearing the roar of an 8mm I felt the trigger refuse to budge. Looking at the receiver I Cursed, I had forgotten to turn off the safety and I had no idea if I actually loaded rounds into it.
"Oh sonofabitch, I'm actually going to have to jump." I mentally cried at the thought of jumping off the cliff but it looked like it was my only option. Pulling out my C96, its mine now, i fired a few more shots at the scorpions as a final 'Fuck you' before I started running towards the cliff edge.
Just as I jumped I started screaming for my life.
"This is a horrible idea!" I couldn't stop if I wanted to, so instead I tried to remember the few tips I heard divers talk about when they jumped from heights. I had to angle my body when I jumped into the water right?
I was still cursing in my mind when I hit the water. I felt the water encase me nearly immediately as I sank like a rock. I flailed in the water as I tried to right myself but I had forgotten to take into account the water current when I jumped. The current swept me up and quickly dragged me away, uncaring for me trying to get out. I was already panicking from the chase but unable to get out was making it far worse. Any second now I would lose my breath and have to force myself out of the water but I could feel my backpack trying to pull me down with it.
I felt my boots hit the bottom of the river and Launched myself back to the surface desperately sucking in air in the split second of me being out of the water before I fell back in. For some odd reason it felt like I had managed to get more oxygen into my lungs than I should have.
Forcing myself to calm down I struggled to swim to the river bank just far enough to clench the ground and force myself out of the water. I greedily took deep breaths of oxygen as I slumped against the river bank. Strangely enough I didn't feel my lungs burning like I expected from taking an impromptu swim. Still I could feel my backpack digging into me so with a strained groan I reached an arm across my chest to grab the strap, briefly coughing.
I stopped when I felt something on my neck.
"There better not be a leach on my neck." I growled, already done with today. Slowly I brought my hand up higher and felt the… these better not be fucking gills, I swear on john moses browning's grave if I've been into some Aquatic race I was going to be pissed. "This water better be clear enough for a reflection."
All but throwing myself back towards the water I threw my backpack onto dry ground along with my guns. My breath hitched as I finally saw my reflection staring at me. I already knew I was a different gender but the sheer difference between the me I remembered and the one staring back at me was… large, to say the least.
My long dark black hair was gone and in its place was short fluffy blue hair that barely reached my shoulder blades. My hazel eyes were a darker shade of blue and sitting just below them were two black lines that went beneath my chin, both were fading slightly for some odd reason. My face was unrecognizable and it scared me, but I pushed forward. Sitting on both sides of my neck were gills that twitched as I poked them.
"What the fuck happened to me."
END.
So this came out far better than I thought it would, and it only took me a week to rewrite. Don't expect that to happen again.
If you've read this before I'm sure you noticed I removed a lot of the unneeded things and added a lot more detail. I also got rid of the comment at the end because it made no sense.
I don't know what else to put here. OH, if you have been reading this series for a while and read the authors not i normally put you will notice i left a comment in a later chapter about me wanting to make a youtube channel to have a hobby that isn't just writing and reading. Well I did, went through several name changes, and ended up with Lousie HeartFeather. I'm not going to be posting often as I'm doing a let's play of Warhammer Dawn of War and I have to edit that as I don't want to be like some channels where I only release raw footage. I watched a series be done like that. I spent 20 minutes watching a guy struggle to choose his squad's loadout on the same screen. It was incredibly boring.
Anyway if you want to support me on youtube like on this story go to my channel and subscribe if you would so please.
