"Name's Axel. Got it memorized?" Roxas expected his hand to be as searing as his personality, but the handshake was light and cool. Almost as if sensing the boy's confusion, he gave a wide, reckless grin (Axel's special grin) and brought a sudden heat into his fingers.

Roxas didn't understand this man's charade; he couldn't feel, Saix couldn't feel. Nobodies did not have hearts. Sometimes they pretended, but it was pointless to keep up the act in front of each other.

But Axel always acted like he cared.

Perhaps this was why Roxas chose to spend so much time with the fiery-haired Nobody. They were only halves of people, but together, they were almost whole.

When Axel lay dying, Sora had a sudden urge to reach out, to run his fingers across his cheek, or maybe to take his hand. He somehow knew that his skin would be hot with (emotion?), almost too hot to touch, though he couldn't say how.

The feeling scared him, and he purposefully kept his hands away from him, and Roxas nearly cried.
