Several days later Narumi walked into the office to find me standing in front of his desk and he watched on with a raised eyebrow as I punched the air with my fists alternating between the two. After a few seconds I paused finally noticing Narumi who grinned at me.

"What are you doing?" He asked me and I let out a breath still breathing hard for my exercise.

"Just getting some exercise, Narumi." I answered once I caught my breath and he continued to stare until I just shrugged. "Continuing my training as a summoner if you really want to know." I finally admitted and he nodded, crossing the room and I blinked as he grasped my arm.

"If that's the case you should have asked me for help. You're not holding your arm out straight enough for that punch plus you need to curl your fist like this." Narumi explained showing me a punch before he helped get my arm and fist in the right position. When I managed to throw a punch I grinned following up with a kick only to stumble backwards and he caught me in his arms giving me a tiny smile when I let out a breath. "Not exactly like that, Jean."

"I was really trying that time." I sighed and he smiled at me helping me stand though when he didn't remove his arms from around my waist I raised an eyebrow at him. "Narumi, no offense but I can stand on my own. Just got a lot overzealous with the high kicks." I added and he just smiled hugging me to his chest when I tried to move.

"Jean, you're still worked up about Raidou going after Haruki aren't you?" Narumi asked and I turned my head giving the detective two narrowed eyes. "You still need to rest that wound remember?" Lightly tapping my hip produced a grimace from me and he sighed raising his eyebrow at me.

"So it still aches but it's nothing I can't handle. Besides Haruki attacked me and I need to finish this. I am a summoner after all." I pointed out with a frown on my face and he just shook his head planting a kiss on the top of my head.

"I understand you're frustrated but Raidou's been a summoner for years and he has more experience than you do." Narumi answered immediately regretting it when I lowered my head and he sighed once he heard me sniffing. "Jean, I wasn't trying to upset you." Narumi told me but I didn't lift my head and once he saw my shoulders shaking he hugged me resting his head on top of mine. "Hey don't cry. It's going to be okay."

"No one thinks I can handle myself." I mumbled through my tears and after Narumi lifted his head I lifted mine my eyes wet with tears. "My demons know I'm strong and if you won't admit it I'll just have to prove it to you."

"Jean, just calm down will you?" Narumi said when I tried to pull away from him. Once I realized I couldn't escape I managed to reach into my pocket and he paled as soon as he saw me holding one of my summoning tubes. "Jean, you wouldn't...not after last time."

"If you don't let go of me I'll set one of my demons loose and you know how loyal they are to me, Narumi." I growled at him and he relaxed his grip stepping back as I pushed away from him whirling around with my summoning tube aimed at his chest.

"Jean, take a deep breath." Narumi soothed having seen how badly I was sweating and when I took a deep shaky breath he saw me wince. "The headaches are back aren't they?" He asked, reaching out and I didn't react as he placed his hand over mine taking the tube from my fingers when I relaxed my grip. "Is that why you're so upset with me?"

"I'm not upset with you, Narumi. My side hurts and my head won't stop aching and I can't think straight." I groaned, pacing as Narumi stared at me. "I don't think I can handle feeling like this forever."

"Jean, we'll stop him even if I have to go out there and beat him up myself." Narumi answered and I let out a tired laugh not even reacting when he set his hand down on my shoulder. "Knew I could cheer you up. How about you have a lie down and...?" Narumi trailed off when I turned around burying my face in his chest. "Or I could just give you a hug." He finished with a tiny laugh hugging me until my tears finally stopped.

"You know I appreciate you, Narumi I'm just feeling pretty lousy at the moment." I muttered as he rubbed my back one arm still draped around my waist.

"No need to apologize, Jean but next time please don't set one of your demons on me. Not the best way to thank your boyfriend for all he's done." Narumi teased and I bit back a laugh trying not to notice when he stopped rubbing my back his hand still pressed to my back.

"I promise if I get annoyed with you about anything I won't send one of my demons after you." I replied and he snorted raising both of his eyebrows at me when I lifted my head to stare directly at his face. "Narumi, I'm just kidding." I sighed and his lips curled into a smile before he leaned down and my eyes widened as he kissed me full on the mouth.

Despite my numerous aches I melted into the kiss, draping my arms around his neck as I kissed him back. We would have stayed wrapped up in each others arms had I not heard a noise and I turned my head slightly listening as Narumi slowly kissed my neck and throat.

"Something wrong, Jean?" He asked once he noticed I wasn't responding to his expert kissing. Once he saw me looking towards the window with a slight frown he smiled at me. "If you wanted some fresh air I could have just opened a window." He chuckled trying to untangle himself from my arms but I held onto him and he raised his eyebrows at me finally noticing how pale my face was. "Jean, what is it?"

"There's something watching us." I managed to tell him just as whatever had spying on us slammed into the window and I yelped as I caught sight of a demon, its laughter grating on my nerves as it struck the window with enough force this time to shatter it. Seeing the window shatter but not what caused it Narumi blinked until some of the shards shot towards us and he finally reacted pulling us towards the floor. As he shielded me with his body I heard laughing and I managed to raise my head in time to see the same Tengu as it hovered above Narumi's desk.

"What do you want?" I growled reaching for one of my summoning tubes until it shook its head still grinning and I paused as Narumi kept an arm wrapped around my waist, his other arm resting near his hip. Once I saw the blood seeping through the right side of his shirt I lifted it slightly to reveal several small pieces of broken glass embedded in his side and I grimaced looking back at Tengu with my eyes narrowed at him. Once he saw the anger in my eyes and a summoning tube in my hand Tengu's smile disappeared as Fenrir appeared immediately leaping up onto the desk before his jaws snapped at the demon.

Tengu just managed to keep clear of my demon's jaws and the giant wolf snarled putting himself between us and the demon. "Don't you dare touch my summoner!" Fenrir roared, snapping at Tengu and the flying demon shot towards the broken window just barely escaping before Fenrir caught him.

"Thanks, Fenrir." I whispered as he climbed down, nuzzling my face and I gave him a tiny nod gently stroking his head until Narumi groaned trying to stand before I set a hand on his shoulder. "Just stay put, Narumi." I told him, wondering how I was going to remove his shirt to see just how badly he was injured from the flying glass.

"Jean, it's nothing." Narumi insisted as he carefully unbuttoned his shirt though as soon as he tried to remove it he grimaced realizing that the broken glass pinned it to him.

"I could get Lilim to remove them but without a healing demon I'm not sure how to help." I whispered, trembling slightly as I removed Lilim's tube from my pocket.

"I can walk you through it, Jean. Get some bandages, a clean cloth and a bucket of water." Narumi told me and I cracked a smile leaving his side long enough to grab what he asked before I returned. "I guess I'm losing this shirt." Narumi sighed and with a nod I helped tear it open, revealing the extent of his wounds.

"I don't know how I'm going to pull the rest of the shirt free without pulling the shards of glass out first." I whispered and Narumi leaned forward giving my cheek a brush with his lips.

"Just do it, Jean. I've been hurt worse than this before." Narumi said and I nodded, grasping one of the shards and after he braced himself I pulled it free. Despite his reassurances he couldn't help a cry of pain as I finished pulling each one free, immediately cleaning the blood away so I could see his side better using the shreds of his shirt to mop up the blood.

"J...just take your time. I'm not going anywhere." He muttered, watching on as I cleaned the blood-splattered cloth keeping his hip clean before I started wrapping his wounds. By the time I'd finished most of his waist had layers of bandages covering it and he gave me a weak smile as I dropped the cloth in the water, leaning back with a sigh.

"You did an amazing job, Jean." Narumi told me as I sat beside him and once I rested my head against his he noticed that I'd dropped the bloodied glass shards in the bucket. "Jean, you alright there?" He asked and I let out a breath my shoulders trembling as I buried my face in his hair.

"N...not really. I just pulled glass out of your body, Narumi." I pointed out trying not to shift when he leaned against me his breathing faster. "Stupid Haruki and his dumb demons. Next time you can eat him, Fenrir." I growled and Narumi cracked a grin, lifting one hand before he stroked my chin. I didn't move when he kissed me though after a few seconds I draped my arm around his neck keeping clear of his bandages.

Shaking his head Fenrir lay on the floor beside us, watching on with some amusement as Narumi nuzzled my neck. "You were perfect, Jean." Narumi whispered into my throat, his lips brushing along the base of my neck until I shuddered and he grinned to himself. "Protecting us and then patching me up." He added, brushing his lips over my own. I reached around and when I gripped his back he smiled down at me.

"I just followed what you told me, Narumi. Besides you stopped me from getting hit by flying glass." I mumbled with my head buried in his now bare chest and he chuckled, ignoring the pain in his side in favor of hugging me. After a few minutes I lifted my head with a faint smile and two red cheeks. "Not that I'm not enjoying this but we should probably sit on the couch."

"Good idea, Jean. My legs are going to sleep." Narumi agreed and I let out a laugh draping an arm around his shoulders before I helped him to his feet. Despite a slight wobble Narumi managed the short distance to the couch and once he carefully sat I gave his shoulder a pat. "Could you get me some painkillers from the kitchen?" He asked and I nodded leaving his side and as I walked away he sighed, wincing as he shifted to his left trying not to put any weight on his right side.

I returned with a box of pills and a glass filled with water and he looked up as I sat at his left side, handing both over. "Thanks, Jean. You should take some yourself." Narumi offered and I blinked at him until he smiled at me. "Don't you have a headache?"

"In all the confusion I forgot about it." I muttered and Narumi raised an eyebrow at me, handing me a pill before he swallowed his own. With a shrug I took my own pill as Narumi swallowed some of the water handing the glass to me once he saw the face I pulled. Finishing the last of the water I set the glass on the table leaning back on the couch and Narumi grinned at me leaning on my shoulder.

"Hope that helps because these cuts sting." Narumi muttered after a pause and I turned my head slightly with a confused look. "Never had glass in me before."

"I've never seen a demon smash into a window before." I added and Narumi chuckled as I rested my head on his shoulder. "Why bust the window and attack us like that just to run away?"

"Not too sure, doll-face but I'll ask Raidou when he gets back. Right now I think I've earned a nap." Narumi muttered and I just sighed as the adrenaline from the sudden attack wore leaving me exhausted and in desperate need of a nap. Once I yawned Narumi just smiled to himself as I lay my head on his lap. "You too, doll-face."

"Mmm...could use a nap myself." I mumbled losing the fight to stay awake as soon as my eyes closed.

Once Raidou and Gouto returned finding their boss and his girlfriend lying on the couch together still asleep they decided not to wake them, despite being curious as to why Narumi was shirtless and sporting bandages. Before Raidou and Gouto left for the Nameless Shrine they left a blanket draped over their friends and Gouto just rolled his eyes at Narumi who had a faint smile on his lips.
