End of July Before Training Camp

A deflated All Might opens the door to the teacher's office, coughs, and says, "Morning."

Cementoss and Midnight are in there. Cementoss turning to look at him says, "Perfect timing."

Midnight points and looks at All Might saying, "You're on TV right now. Some kind of retrospective."

All Might asks, "About me?"

The TV narrator says, "So, just how did All Might, the Symbol of Peace, become the number-one hero in the world? Let's take a look back on his time studying abroad in America."

The young All Might on TV turns and says, "You're safe because I am here."

The deflated All Might watching says, "That takes me back."

Midnight asks, "How many decades?"

All Might starts coughing.

Midnight mutters, "Real subtle way of sidestepping the question."

Cementoss looking at the screen blushing a little and says, "I know that costume. It's from your Young Age!"

All Might steps back a little and says, "Heh. Yep."

Midnight says, "Well spotted."

Cementoss says, "Oh, well, thanks. I've been a fan of All Might's since I was just a little kid."

Midnight turns to All Might and says, "Well, aren't you an inspiration."

All Might poofs making both heroes look at him as he emerges in his hero form. All Might poses and says, "No, not at all!"

Midnight mutters, "Could he look more smug?"

The TV narrator says, "All Might wasn't acting alone while abroad. The sidekick who supported him was none other than a young David Shield."

Midnight asks, "Wait, does he mean that David Shield?"

Cementoss says nodding, "Birds of a feather, and all that. It's no surprise these elties found each other."

All Might mutters, "Dave. It's been far too long, my friend."

A computer behind All Might says in All Might's voice, "An email is here! An email is here!"

Dad and I walk in the room and Dad says, "It's about time to begin the special class."

Midnight says turning to us, "I have a few notes about my costume."

Cementoss says, "Not to worry. Everything is ready."

All Might says, "Let's teach those wannabe pros a thing or two about hero-ing."

UA High holds special classes for those wanting to train during summer vacation. Today's the first one this break, and we have no idea what's in store.

Dad stands in front of the class with only me, Tenya, Ochaco, Tsu, Shoto, Izuku, and Bakugo and says, "We'll be running this course multiple times with small groups from your class. Today it will be the seven of you. Cara will be in every group though. Just so you know, this will be harder than a regular class. Prepare yourselves."

Tsu mutters, "I wonder what they'll have us do."

Izuku mutters, "Is this gonna be one of those times he threatens to expel us if we fail?"

Dad says, "In this master class, you'll be tasked with saving innocent bystanders. And capturing a villain."

Bakugo says, "Huh?"

Both Ochaco and Izuku say together, "We're not just studying - we're playing heroes!"

Dad glares forcing them to quiet down. Dad says, "This should be obvious. But villains commit many different types of crime. You seven will be dispatched to a scene and will need to determine what happened there. Whether or not a villain was actually at fault. Whether or not you should fight. We will be judging your ability to assess the situation as well as how well you diffuse it. Welcome your instructors."

The door slams open behind us and All Might comes in saying, "I am here, sneaking in through the back door!"

Izuku says, "All Might's teaching us?"

Ochaco says, "You're looking extra muscly today! Yowza!"

All Might laughs.

Cementoss, Midnight, and Present Mic join Dad up front and Dad says, "He's not the only one today. Cementoss, Midnight, and Present Mic will be assisting. They'll be acting as special trainers. Let's get started. Head to Ground Beta and we'll begin."

We all had gotten into our costumes and are now in Ground Beta. Shoto and I are on one side with Tsu, while Bakugo and Ochaco are on the other, with Izuku and Tenya being in the front.

Izuku peeks around the corner with Tsu, Ochaco, and Tenya appearing above him. Izuku says, "I see cardboard police cutouts."

Tenya says, "This must be where the crime is taking place."

Dad appears behind us and says, "I'll brief you on the situation." Bakugo, Shoto, and I had already looked at Dad but Izuku, Tenya, Ochaco, and Tsu all look at him once he spoke. Dad continues, "There's been an attack in this jewelry store. The employees and customers have been taken hostage and are barricaded inside. The number of villains and bystanders is unknown. As pro heroes, you have been asked by the police to intervene and resolve this incident to the best of your abilities."

Tenya's hand shoots up and he asks, "Excuse me, Mr. Aizawa! Our teachers are they playing the roles of hostages or villains-"

Dad interrupts saying, "I won't be answering questions. Verify the situation yourself and act accordingly."

We all say, "Yes, sir!"

Dad says, "With that, let the capture training begin."

A buzzer blares.

Looking around the corner again, Tenya says, "Okay. What's our first move?"

Izuku says, "That's easy. First we need to figure out how many villains and hostages there are inside."

Bakugo scratches his head and says, "Uraraka. You go."

Everyone turned to him. Ochaco asks, "Me by myself?"

Bakugo says, "If we all run in, the villains'll notice us. But you can float up to the top window and not get caught."

Ochaco nods and says, "Yeah. You're right! I'm on it."

I say, "I'll go with you as stealth is a thing of mine. I've done this many times with Dad. Unfortunately, I'll take a little longer but I'll come to the top of this building and use my scope to see what's going on inside while you see what you can see, Ochaco."

She nods at me.

Tsu looks at us and asks, "Isn't that dangerous?"

Shoto says, "It is. But we can distract the villains."

I start climbing the building as a phone starts ringing from Shoto calling.

On the phone I hear All Might's voice say, "Who is this? The fuzz?"

Shoto whispers to the others while covering the mic, "All Might's pretending to be the criminal." Shoto puts the phone to his ear and says, "I'm a pro hero. And you are?"

All Might's voice says, "Pro shmo. I'm not impressed."

Izuku says to Ochaco, "Tell us how many villains on your right hand, and how many hostages on your left."

Ochaco nods and says, "Yeah. 'Kay."

I finally get to the top and pull a scope out of my belt.

Ochaco turns to the building.

Shoto says into the phone as he had continued talking to All Might, "Release the innocents, and we'll consider your demands."

Ochaco starts making herself float as I look in the building with the scope.

All Might says, "I only have one demand. I want the cops and heroes to get the hell out of here. If you don't leave, I guarantee I'll slice up these hostages."

I see All Might on the phone. Midnight looks like she's tied up as well as Present Mic behind another jewelry stand, and so is Cementoss.

I hear Shoto say, "Very well. But first I need information on how you've got inside. Is anyone hurt?"

All Might says, "Someone will be if you don't stop taking your sweet time. Hurry up and get lost, dammit!"

I see Ochaco turn to the others and hold up 3 fingers on her left hand indicating 3 hostages and 1 finger on her right indicating 1 villain.

Izuku says under me as I put my scope back on my belt, "One villain. Three hostages."

Tenya whispers, "Nice, Uraraka! Stay there. Wait for us!"

Ochaco puts a circle above her head to signal okay.

I jump down landing easily behind Bakugo and I say, "Remember just because they look like hostages doesn't mean that they are. On a couple cases the villains have made one of them act like a hostage so a surprise attack can be ready. All three hostages are not together either."

Izuku gasps and says, "Quick, hide!"

Tsu says, "Ribbit!"

They all pull back from the alleyway.

Izuku peeks around the corner slightly and says, "It's All Mi - I mean, the bad guy."

Shoto says, "He's checking to make sure that everyone's gone."

I hear Bakugo tapping his finger impatiently while growling.

Tsu says, "In that case, we need to stay hidden. We can't put those hostages in danger."

Tenya asks, "How do we help them? Think there could be a back way inside?"

I hear Dad mutter quietly behind us, "Here's the first big decision they must make. Should they contact the villain again and attempt to persuade him? Or..."

Bakugo yells and says loudly, "This is stupid."

Izuku gasps and says, "Kacchan?!"

Tenya says, "Bakugo. Calm down!"

Shoto says, "You're planning to charge straight in?"

Bakugo says, "Obviously. I'll fire off a bunch of explosions and take down that villain. You guys can save the hostages or whatever, I don't care."

Tsu steps forward and says, "You're being way too irresponsible."

Bakugo says, "What are you talking about? He's right there in the window." Bakugo charges forward with an explosion saying, "This is our chance!"

I hear Dad say, "Of course. I knew it'd go like this."

Tenya runs forward saying, "We have to move now, too!" Shoto, Izuku, and Tsu follow behind quickly. I quickly shoot to the top of the building from where we were hiding and jump to the jewelry building that is being attacked.

Izuku says, "Yeah. Let's go!"

Dad says, "Unfortunately for you, this isn't a problem you can fight your way out of."

Izuku gasps and says, "The villain's disappeared inside."

Bakugo coming from the sky says, "Damn it, I won't let you have those hostages!" Bakugo blasts through the doors.

Tenya and Shoto are quickly getting to the building. Tenya says, "Oh, no! Hurry!"

Using a special tool in my belt I start working on a window to make a hole to crawl through. While I work I watch Bakugo, Izuku, Tenya, Shoto, and Tsu get inside. I also see Dad outside watching having followed to where the police cutouts were. I see a bloodied knife on the floor with All Might laying there like he'd been stabbed.

Izuku says, "Wait. Is that...?"

Dad says, "Now you get it. This is the moment when the special class really begins."

I finally get through the top window and setting the piece of glass that I had cut out on the roof top so no one could figure out I'm there by glass breaking. I climb through the hole and stay on the ceiling to wait for the right time to make my move.

Dad says, "Today's training is not what you expected it to be. I'm interested to see how you deal with this development."

Izuku says, "The villain was...killed?"

Tsu walks over to the 'villain's' corpse and starts tickling with her hair, All Might chuckles and coughs. Tsu says pulling back, "Okay, All Might's still alive. He's playing. But we're supposed to think he's dead."

Ochaco jumps to the ground beside Izuku and asks, "Is it because of Bakugo's blast?"

Bakugo says, "No way - it wasn't even that strong. Weren't you watching? You were supposed to be our eyes."

Ochaco says having turned to Bakugo, "Yeah, but, I couldn't see anything because of all the smoke."

Bakugo turns away growling.

Shoto looks at the knife and says, "The murder weapon is a knife covered in blood."

Tenya says, "The building was surrounded by police, so we know no one went in or out. That means whoever killed the villain must still be inside!"

I focus on looking at each of the 'hostages' in turn.

Izuku says, "Hold on. Maybe...But it's too soon to know that for sure. We should listen to what they have to say first."

Tsu says, "He's right. We need to know how events unfolded."

They look at Cementoss first and he says, "I'm but a humble employee of this store. A villain suddenly appeared and threatened me. I handed over the jewels, and then he tied me up."

They look at Midnight next who says, "I dropped by to pick up a few new pieces, and the villain was already here. He caught me while I was too surprised to resist him."

Looking at Present Mic next as he says, "Yo, yo, my pros. What it do? I came to find a bomb-ass piece of frosting for my hottie GF. Then that villain laid me out flat. It was so not dope!"

Shoto asks, "When the villain first arrived, was this man already in the store?"

Cementoss says, "Yes, he was browsing. That beast knocked him unconscious, and he was asleep for quite a long time."

Shoto says, "And when you first came into the shop, ma'am. Did you see both of these men?"

Midnight says, "I didn't get a good look when I walked in. But when he was tying me up...I noticed these two men had been in different parts of the store."

Shoto sighs and says, "Hm. So far their stories all seem to fit."

Izuku steps forward and says, "Excuse me. We need to take a quick look through your wallets and bags."

They look through their things.

Izuku asks, "See anything of interest in there?"

Ochaco says, "She's got a bunch of credit cards and cash."

Izuku says, "Present Mic's is the same way. They both had enough money on them to buy jewelry."

Ochaco says, "Yeah."

Bakugo says stepping forward, "One of you killed this stupid villain. Just come on and tell us, or else."

Shoto asks, "What's the motive?"

Bakugo turning to him walks to him and says, "What?! The stolen jewelry, you moron! Plus, they're just bad guys."

Tsu says, "Even if that were the case, isn't it a little too reckless to kill the villain when you're locked in a store? You'd definitely be a suspect."

Shoto turns back to Bakugo having looked at Tsu and says, "Besides, the criminal dropped the jewelry. Yet no one took the bag."

Tsu says looking at Izuku, "If the theft wasn't the motive, then maybe..."

Ochaco looking at Tsu says, "Another conflict?"

Izuku looks at Ochaco and says, "Yeah, if there were two villains in here, and during the attack, they argued about how to split up the loot, that could be the motive."

Tsu says, "If that's the case, then the hostages would have heard their conversations."

They all turn back to the 'hostages'.

Present Mic says doing weird dance moves, "Nah, girl, I didn't hear anything like that."

Cementoss says moving from behind Present Mic, "Nor did I."

Midnight doing the same says, "Me neither."

Shoto says, "Then you think the villain was working alone?"

Cementoss says, "Yes."

Tenya comes from a door and says, "I've inspected every corner of the store. There's no back exit, and all the windows are sealed. It's impossible that anyone escaped."

Ochaco turning back to the hostages says, "Then, the person at fault has to be one of these three."

Midnight stepping forward says, "I didn't do it."

Cementoss stepping forward also says, "I'm innocent!"

Present Mic says, "I'm not goin' down for this. It wasn't me, yo!"

Dad says, "They haven't been able to find definite evidence of who the killer is yet. It's time for their second big choice."

Tsu says, "Wouldn't it be best to call the police? The investigators can get to the bottom of this case."

Tenya says, "Perhaps that would be wise, yes."

Ochaco says, "This is so frustrating. We know the culpret has to be one of these people!"

Bakugo starts setting off explosions in his hand and says, "Simple."

Present Mic yelps and they all step back.

Bakugo continues yelling, "We'll just force them to start talking!"

I jump down landing easily next to Shoto as Shoto yells, "Bakugo!"

Tenya says, "Be a hero."

Present Mic says seeing me appear, "Where did she come from?!"

Tsu says, "If you torture them, then the police will arrest you along with the perpetrator."

Bakugo says, "I didn't say anything about torture!" Bakugo stops all the sudden and looks at Izuku who is obviously thinking. Bakugo says, "Hey, you damn nerd. You've got a new idea, haven't you?"

Both Izuku and I look at Bakugo both of us used to Bakugo calling us nerds. Izuku gasps and says, "Uh-! Well. Something's bothering me here."

Shoto asks, "What is it?"

Izuku says, "Why did the villain barricade himself inside the store? You know?" Izuku turns to Tenya and says, "'Cause, if he wanted to, he could have just escaped with the goods earlier. So then, why did he stay?"

Cementoss says, "Timing wise, the authorities arrived just as I was putting the jewelry in a bag for him. He had no opportunity to flee."

Ochaco asks, "Did you call the police?"

Cementoss says shaking his head, "I never had the chance."

Tenya says, "Someone outside the store must've seen what was happening. They're the ones who calle the police."

Izuku and I looking hard at Midnight and Izuku says, "If that's the case, then it has to mean...Midnight, it was you."

Midnight gasps and she says, "What? Me?"

Izuku says, "You were the only one who came into the jewelry store after the villain was already here."

Tenya says, "Don't be hasty, Midoriya."

Bakugo says, "Don't you make us look like a buncha idiots. Why would somebody who called the police come inside to face the villain and allow themselves to be taken as a hostage?"

I say as I step beside Izuku ready to use my Capture Weapon if needed, "I'd hear him out as Midnight sounded more suspicious than the others at least for calling the police though I don't think she murdered him but I have an idea on who and I think Izuku and I are on the same page."

Izuku says, "Yeah. Hear me out."

Midnight whines slightly.

Izuku says, "I think she's the reason the villain barricaded himself in here to begin with."

Shoto sighs.

Izuku continues, "Midnight. You knew the man on the floor before this incident, didn't you?"

Midnight breathes heavy.

Izuku continues, "And not just as an acquaintance - you knew he committed crimes. You saw him and knew he was going to rob the jewelry store, so you called the police the moment he went inside so they would stop him. And then, before they could arrive...You decided to go in yourself. He must've been shaken to see you. But he also understood your true intentions. Why you were there. Even so, the villain continued the robbery and tied you up like the others. While he was doing that, the police arrived, and he was forced to barricade himself in the store."

Midnight calls, "No! Why would I willingly put myself in danger like that?"

Izuku answers, "Because you wanted him to change his life."

Midnight gasps.

Izuku asks, "Didn't you?" Midnight looks down as Izuku continues, "No matter how many times you tried to convince him to step away from crime, he wouldn't. So you made sure that, this time, he'd be forced to change his ways."

Ochaco gasps and says, "Wait, Deku. Even if things happened the way you just said they did...Why would she kill the villain?"

Shoto says, "All she wanted to do was get him arrested."

Tenya says, "Yeah, that's right. She has no motive to kill him."

Izuku says, "True. There's no motive. That's why the murderer..." Izuku turns to the others and continues, "isn't one of these three."

Tenya asks confused, "What are you talking about?"

Ochaco says, "Seriously, Deku, hold on!"

Tsu says thinking, "Could it have been..."

Shoto says looking at the ground, "Suicide. Right?"

Izuku looks back at the hostages and says, "Probably. Once he figured out what Midnight's intentions must be, it's likely he still expected to escape as planned. But then we pro heroes showed up on the scene."

Tenya says thinking, "He refused to be taken alive."

Izuku says, "Not quite. I think he was worried about something else. If he was caught by the police, his relationship with Midnight might have been exposed, putting her in all sorts of trouble. If that had happened, a dark shadow would've fallen over the rest of her life."

Midnight starts crying.

Izuku continues, "That's why this villain silenced himself with his own weapon. Midnight didn't say anything because she realized what he was thinking when he took his own life, the sacrifice he was making so that she could live."

Midnight starts making a spectacle while 'crying'.

Izuku says, "Out of respect, she couldn't say anything."

Ochaco turns to Izuku and asks, "You think Midnight and the villain were that in love?"

Izuku nods and says, "Mm-hm."

Tsu looking at the ground crying says, "That's so sad. Midnight was only trying to help the criminal because she cared so much about him."

Tenya says, "And the robber was trying to save Midnight, because deep in his villainous heart, he loved her, as well."

Shoto looks at me and says, "They were both just trying to look out for each other." He looks down at the ground as he continues, "That's ironic, isn't it?"

Izuku says, "I believe that this is the truth behind the attack in the jewelry store."

Tsu says sadly, "Ribbit."

Bakugo looks to the side mad and mutters to himself, "This was actually some kinda love story?!"

Dad in the doorway says, "Okay, that's enough."

Midnight gets up screaming, "Ooh! This was so fun!"

Ochaco, Izuku, Tenya, and Tsu all say together, "What a 180!"

I just sigh used to her antics.

Dad says looking at them, "Thanks, you three. You're all done here. Save your strength for the next group?"

They start walking out and Present Mic asks, "What'd you think of my acting?"

Cementoss says, "I'd reel it in a bit."

Dad turns to us and says, "Midoriya. Cara."

Izuku says, "Sir!" while I nod.

Dad says, "Your deductions were exactly what we had scripted for this scenario. The villain did stab himself with his own knife. It was smart work getting to that conclusion by asking a logical series of questions."

Ochaco says, "Wow! Praise from Mr. Aizawa!"

Tenya says, "Extremely well done, Midoriya! Cara!"

Izuku chuckles.

Dad says, "But you weren't perfect. You six overlooked one major thing."

They all gasped.

Dad says, "Therefore, you earned...zero points."

The group yelps.

Bakugo yells, "You've gotta be kidding!"

Dad says, "Observe."

Everyone looks down at the spot the villain was and yelps.

Izuku says, "The villain's body is gone!"

Dad says, "The only one who noticed was Cara that's why she jumped down from her hiding spot but she was too late."

I hear All Might running down the street cackling.

Izuku, Ochaco, and Tenya all say, "He's alive!"

All Might calls, "I am fleeing the scene and running toward freedom!"

I run out and put ice out making All Might's path slick and grab him with my Capture Weapon.

All Might says, "Aw! Darn it! Should have known you'd get me, Young Aizawa!" I growl tightening the Capture Weapon and he yelps saying, "Sorry, Young Cara!"

Dad says, "You were all under the assumption that the villain was a corpse, so you didn't tie him up. And that's why you all fail, except for Cara."

They all look back at Dad.

Bakugo asks, "Is that even allowed?"

Dad says, "Didn't you realize that All Might gave you a hint about the truth? He tried to help you. When Asui tickled his nose."

Tsu says, "Ribbit!"

Dad says, "He reacted, didn't he? You thought it was a mistake. But he was alive." Dad turns around walking and says, "That's it for your special class. You're dismissed. Cara, release All Might. You are excused from the others lessons though I want you with me to watch. Actually next ones you'll be participating with All Might, Cementoss, Midnight, and Present Mic."

I release All Might and sigh going after Dad not actually wanting to participate in all the special classes.

Izuku behind me says, "Aw, man."

Bakugo says, "That's a dirty trick!"

Tenya says, "Uh - Wait a second. If the villain is alive, then...He pretended to kill himself, but looked for a chance to escape the whole time! He didn't stay there for Midnight!"

Tsu says, "Midnight misunderstood and thought he did everything because he wanted to protect her name and honor."

Ochaco says, "But their love story!"

Izuku says, "It was...!"

Shoto says watching me leave, "...never real."

Bakugo growls and says, "I hate this test. And this love stuff!" Bakugo's scream starts cracking the windows.

Ochaco calls, "The window!"

The students scream as they are swept off their feet from the windows breaking.

A deflated All Might gets to the office and says, "Staying in my muscle form for so long is excruciating." All Might walks forward to his computer and says, "Oh, that's right. I had an email." He gasps and says, "It's from Melissa?"

He clicks a few things and reads, "'Dear Uncle Might. It's been such a long time! Melissa Shield here. I bet you're surprised to get a message from me. I'm writing you because I-Expo will be held on I-Island soon. Where Papa and I live! Schools in Japan are on summer vacation right now, right? You should come see Papa! I'll send you a formal invitation to the Expo later. A Japanese hero who fought villains while studying abroad reunites with his American friend after so many years. Don't you think it sounds dramatic? P.S. This is a surprise. He'll be so shocked if you show up out of the blue! Can you imagine the look on his face when he sees you again?"

All Might sits back in his chair sighing and remembers when David said, "'The Symbol of Peace'?"

All Might had said, "I wanna see a society where everyone can smile without worry. I will become a Symbol of Peace - a beacon of hope in this world."

All Might mutters, "Dave."

All Might asked me to come with him to Izuku's apartment to see about him joining us at I-Expo. All Might says, "I am here! Waiting to ambush Young Midoriya on his walk home from UA!" We stop in front of Izuku and All Might says, "Hi!"

Izuku gasps and asks, "Huh? What are you two doing here?"

All Might goes into his deflated form coughing and says, "Young Midoriya. There's a place called I-Island. You ever hear of it?"

Izuku says, "Oh, yeah, for sure. I-Island is amazing! Every company in the world that's involved in the hero business invest money to create a technological paradise for the research and development of Quirks and support items! The result was an artifical, mobile island where almost 10,000 scientists now live. It's incredible! It's security system..."

All Might interrupts saying, "Do you wanna go there with me and Cara?"

Izuku gasps and says, "Really? You want us to go together?"

All Might says, "I don't mean we'll just be goofin' off. Now that you've officially become my successor, and Cara's basically a trainer of yours, there are lots of tricks of the trade you two need to learn about."

Izuku says, "You're doing it for me and Cara? Are you sure about this?"

All Might nods.

Izuku smiles and nods and says, "Let's go!"

All Might says, "Then you'd better run up to your room and pack your bags right away so we can jet. Cara's next though her bag is already packed due to her always being ready. Can't keep the plane waiting."

Izuku shocked screams, "We're going now?!"

All Might says, "Yes! Hurry up! Go!"

Izuku says, "Ah, yeah, yeah, I'm going! Don't leave without me!"
