Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, Blaze had just taken command of the Element Guard, regardless of how begrudgingly it was. But just as things appeared to be going calmly, the team of Flash, Catwoman, and Supergirl called the entire group of dragons back to the world of Injustice Gods Among Us. As confusion abounds, Flash promises an explanation to Blaze and company. Today, we get that explanation. So what is going on here? Read on to discover...
(Our tale resumes almost immediately after we left off, with a bunch of dragons confused as to why they're back in a familiar world, with Blaze having just almost clawed out Supergirl's throat, only to be separated by Flash.)
Blaze: You said the reason we're back here is a long story, so you'd better get telling it.
Flash: Alright. It all started about a year after you guys left. From what I understand, it began on Themyscira.
Cynder: Themyscira? (Putting it together) Don't tell me.
Flash: Yeah, Diana escaped. With the help of the only Regime supporter we hadn't rounded up, Black Adam.
Spyro: I knew I should've left him frozen in the arctic.
Supergirl: He wasn't alone though. I will admit, I was with him.
Blaze: You know you're not helping my ability to trust you with talk like that.
Supergirl: Black Adam found my pod when it crash landed near Kahndaq. I'd only heard the Regime's side of the story before I was stopped on another mission from Black Adam.
Flash: A mission to liberate Superman. Which I did manage to stop. Broke parole to do it, but it was worth it to save Kara here from being corrupted by the Regime.
Catwoman: Needless to say, I had my eyes on this situation and attempted to warn Bruce that there was another Kryptonian loose on Earth.
Blaze: I'm going to take a wild guess and say he didn't listen.
Catwoman: Well let's just say I was kind of out of what he considered my "operation".
Spyro: Operation?
Catwoman: Well that's the thing, Bruce already had me on a separate mission, infiltrating a new emergent group of supervillains under the eye of a mysterious benefactor, calling themselves the Society.
Flash: Needless to say, Selina and I didn't take to well to Bruce not taking our concerns seriously, so the three of us started a secret splinter faction. Realizing Batman wasn't going to help us, we tried to put the world hopping machine back together again and call over the ones who helped us end the war against the Regime.
Cynder: So that's why we're here? We spent FIVE YEARS cleaning up this world after locking away Superman, and now it's all in chaos again?!
Flash: There's a lot going on, and Bruce is being no help, focusing too much on that little computer project of his. What'd he call it? Brother Eye or something like that?
Catwoman: Something like that.
Blaze: So I'm going to get this straight. In the last year since we left, you couldn't keep this world together to save your lives, and now need us to come back and clean up the mess we spent five years trying to clean up the first time.
Flash: Believe me, we debated bringing you back here for literal days before agreeing it was for the best. We knew you didn't have the best of memories in this place.
Spyro: That's kind of an understatement, since our son died here.
Flash: Believe me, we kept Dragnarok in mind when considering this.
Blaze: Doesn't sound like it.
Flash: Please, we need your help. If we don't work together on this, we're going to get nowhere and this world's going to be destroyed.
Blaze: (Thinking about it, then with a sigh) Fine. But once this is over, you've got to prove to us you'll be able to keep this world together. We're not going to be responsible for a third war in this world.
Supergirl: You have no idea how grateful we are for this.
Blaze: Just to be clear, this doesn't make us all buddy-buddy. I still have problems with the last Kryptonian we encountered.
Supergirl: I can only hope that will change at some point.
Blaze: We'll see. (To Flash) So where do we start?
Flash: Our first mission is to keep our eyes on this Secret Society of Supervillains and discover the identity of their benefactor. But aside from that, we've got to find a way into Kahndaq to recapture Wonder Woman, and finally capture Black Adam.
Catwoman: As well, it would be wise to keep an eye on Superman's containment to make sure nobody breaks him or any of his remaining supporters out.
Blaze: Sounds like we've got a lot to do. We start operations first thing in the morning. Just to make sure everyone gets over any teleportation lag.
(And just as Blaze mentions teleportation lag, it appears to set in with Leroy, who immediately vomits on the floor.)
Blaze: Definitely starting in the morning.
Flash: Agreed.
(With that, the group breaks to establish some sort of barracks for this new faction. As soon as sleeping quarters are arranged, we see Blaze in hers, writing another entry in her journal, which somehow got transported here as well.)
"I can't honestly believe this. This place is still in shambles, even after we spent five years cleaning it up. Let me just make it clear, I am not thrilled with this arrangement. But... I trust that Barry took our feelings into account. Selina and the new girl though? I can't be too sure. Especially since the new girl's got some kind of connection to the former High Councilor, Superman. But if Barry trusts her, that's a start. Needless to say, I'm just conflicted about this whole thing. Maybe a good night's sleep will clear my mind about this whole thing."
(With that, Blaze puts her pen down, ending our story for today)
And that looks like a good place to wrap up for now. So, the missions are set, and the foundations of half the factions are set. Blaze's as of yet unnamed team, the still going strong Insurgency, and the weakened but not yet defeated Regime. There will be more on them as time goes on, as well as the origins of the other half of the six factions. Trust me, I'm looking forward to introducing some of them.
