Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the newly formed Legion began recruiting new members, recruiting Deathstroke, Vixen, Zatanna, Mr Freeze, Red Hood, the Atom, and Batgirl. While all of this is going on, Blaze, Flash, and Green Arrow have been rushing through a city looking for Black Lightning. Today, we see how that goes. So will Black Lightning join the Legion? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes with Blaze, Flash, and Green Arrow traversing the streets of the city they were in at the start of the last chapter, but at the moment, they're stopped and taking a call from base)

Blaze: So we've got Atom and Batgirl?

Blitz: (Over the phone) Well, we've got Batgirl and the new Atom. We're going to have to train him a bit.

Blaze: Ray Palmer wasn't able to do it?

Blitz: (Over the phone) Ray Palmer disappeared. His TA is taking over.

Flash: Ryan? I think we can make that work.

Green Arrow: I can make a superhero out of him. If my old bones can keep up with this youthful generation.

Blaze: Looks like good news all around

Blitz: (Over the phone) How goes it with Black Lightning?

Blaze: We should be at his place any minute now. We'll call back once we get this worked out. (Hangs up) You're sure Black Lightning's residence is around this corner?

Flash: Yep.

Green Arrow: And you're going to be surprised. He's really moved up in the world.

(With that, the trio rounds the corner, and finally, the city we're in is revealed. This is Washington DC, the capital of the United States. And the building now listed as Black Lightning's residence is the White House.)

Blaze: The White House? (Puts it together) You're serious?

Flash: Yep. Jefferson Jackson is now the President of the United States.

Blaze: Not bad for a kid from the South Side of Metropolis.

Green Arrow: Well, don't get me wrong he was kind of forced into this position after Aqualad kind of killed every other single person in the line of succession.

Blaze: So Aquaman's still up to trouble it sounds like.

Flash: That was a pretty isolated incident, actually. Arthur's been pretty quiet recently. And truth be told, he wasn't as Regime committal as people like Diana or Vic.

Blaze: As far as we know. (Sighs) Let's just focus on the mission. Does he know we're coming?

Flash: I let him know we needed to talk in advance. Doesn't mean he'll see us, but he knows we'll be coming by.

Blaze: (Then let's do this)

(With that, the group steps up to the steps of the White House, where security stops them)

Security Officer: You got an appointment?

Flash: I called ahead to let the President know we were coming by.

Security Officer: You're going to need a lot more proof than hearsay to get in, buddy.

Blaze: Look, this is a matter of urgency. We need to speak with President Jackson.

Security Officer: (Recognizing Blaze) Hey, I remember you from the fall of the Regime!

Blaze: Then you know I wouldn't be here if it weren't serious.

Security Officer: Even still, I can't just let you in.

?: Don't worry about them.

(At this point, the door to the White House opens, and there stands Black Lightning in a full business suit.)

Black Lightning: I was informed Flash would be coming, but I wasn't aware he was bringing guests. (Recognizing Blaze) Let alone someone of such importance as you, young lady.

Blaze: Please, I'm not that important. But the information we have is.

Black Lightning: So I've heard. Step into my office.

(With that, we transition to the Oval Office a few minutes later, where Blaze has just finished informing Black Lightning of the situation.)

Black Lightning: So let me get this straight: There's an alien invader hovering above the planet as we speak, preparing to collect it, whatever the heck that means, with a group of supervillains at his side. And based on the word of Superman's cousin that he's incredibly dangerous, you've been gathering a force to fight off both it and the potentially returning Regime forces.

Flash: Jeff, you know as well as I do that the threat of the Regime coming back is real, and has been ever since Diana escaped Themyscira.

Black Lightning: Believe me, there's nothing I want more than to round up both her and Black Adam and finally put an end to this Regime nonsense.

Blaze: Do you not trust the validity of our information?

Black Lightning: As unnerving as it is that it came from Superman's cousin, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on that front. It's not even that unbelievable. We've known about the existence of extraterrestrials ever since I met J'onn.

Blaze: Then why do I sense hesitancy?

Black Lightning: Because look at where you're standing. I'm the President, I can't just abandon my responsibilities to this country to go back to running around in a costume and mask.

Flash: Look, I know we're asking a lot.

Black Lightning: You can say that again.

Blaze: If you can't, we understand. All we ask is that you be ready to stand and fight once the threat comes.

Black Lightning: You can rest assured I'd still fight if things go screwy. But I can't just go back into the cape and cowl life quite yet.

(Blaze is about to say something, but then the phone they've been using starts ringing)

Blaze: You'll forgive me, I'm pretty sure I've got to take this.

Black Lightning: Go ahead.

Blaze: (Answering the phone) Hello?

Hydrar: (Over the phone) Blaze, we've got an issue!

Blaze: Settle down Hydrar. I'm putting you on speaker. What's going on?

Hydrar: (Over the phone) Black Adam's been sighted near you, attacking a prisoner convoy consisting of former Regime members

Blaze: What is this, a breakout?

Hydrar: (Over the phone) That's what it looks like.

Blaze: Great.

Black Lightning: (Hearing this) This is Black Lightning. Who're we dealing with here?

Hydrar: (Over the phone) You're not going to like this. But it looks like this convoy was transporting Cyborg and Damian Wayne. If the police reports are to be believed, they're heading straight for your location.

Green Arrow: They must be trying to recruit Black Lightning too!

Blaze: Or more likely, to kill him.

Flash: Keep us updated.

Hydrar: (Over the phone) You know I will.

(And with that, Hydrar hangs up and Black Lightning stands up from his desk before walking over to a display case, containing his old Black Lightning suit. And just as he starts looking at it, the back wall explodes revelaing Cyborg, Robin, and Black Adam)

Cyborg: (Seeing Blaze) Well, well, looks like the Bat decided to pull the dragons back.

Blaze: I'm not with the Bat, Victor Stone.

Robin: Then it looks like you're alone. Just like after your lover fell.

(Needless to say, this ticks Blaze off)

Black Adam: We do not seek conflict with you, dragon. We simply wish to speak to your President.

Black Lightning: You certainly know how to get attention. What do you want, Adam?

Black Adam: We offer you a place on the winning side of this war. Rejoin the Regime and you will survive the battle to come against Brainiac.

Blaze: So Kara did tell you about him.

Black Adam: So, what do you say?

Black Lightning: (Thinking about it a moment) Joining the Regime was one of the greatest mistakes of my life. I've worked harder than I ever had to get the public to trust me again afterwards. Like hell I'm making that mistake again.

Black Adam: A pity. (To Cyborg and Robin) Dispose of the rest. I will handle him.

(And with that, Black Lightning and Black Adam begin a battle of electric currents while Flash, Green Arrow, and Blaze start fighting with Cyborg and Robin. Flash's speed gives him an edge over Cyborg's sonic weaponry, and Green Arrow deploys EMP arrows to try and short out Cyborg's cybernetics while Blaze battles Robin. And at this point, she's pissed off that the Wayne brat would dare disrespect her beloved Dragnarok's memory, so she's fighting like the devil himself is after her. And needless to say, it works, as she manages to kick Robin into the current flow between Black Adam and Black Lightning, but specifically on Black Adam's side, disrupting his charge and giving Black Lightning the distraction he needs to win the battle. And as he falls, we see Cyborg getting punched backwards by Flash)

Blaze: Word of advice, you disgrace to the name Nightwing, stay down.

(Robin is clearly pissed off at his defeat, and he clearly wants to get back up and keep fighting, but Black Adam stops him)

Black Adam: Fall back. We cannot let them defeat us now, we have bigger plans.

(Begrudgingly, Robin obliges, with Cyborg getting the memo and opening a portal back to Kahndaq, which the trio fall back through before Blaze can get at them. As the Regime trio leaves, Blaze looks back over to Black Lightning, looking at his old suit after realizing everything that just happened)

Black Lightning: Looks like I can't ignore the call to duty.

Blaze: You're sure?

Black Lightning: (Opens the display case and puts on his old mask) I'm sure.

Blaze: Then welcome to the Legion. We've got a lot of work to do.

(And as the four look out the hole in the wall, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, looks like Black Lightning's part of the Legion now. All eight recruiting attempts have now been successful. And it looks like it couldn't have come at a better time. Because now the Regime is starting to get active, what with busting Cyborg and Robin out of custody. Yes, I know that Damian Wayne is still going by Nightwing in this reality, but since he's listed as Robin in the Injustice 2 character roster, he'll be called Robin in the dialogue. Trust me, I don't like calling Damian Wayne by the title of Robin either. He's really not worthy of it in this timeline. But anyways, what awaits the Legion next? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
