Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, let's just say things got crazy. Blaze and company received word that Wonder Woman was about to attempt to break out Superman, and then got more bad news in the fact that the Enchantress had started to mobilize. Needless to say, this was enough to essentially throw her into a full on breakdown. And that's where we left her. So will things get any better? Read on to discover...
(Our story picks up exactly where we left it, with Blaze breaking down in her quarters, the wood cut of her and Dragnarok in her hands, now wet with tears. At this point, the door to the room cracks open, and Blaze immediately reacts to who she thinks it is)
Blaze: I'm not interested in talking right now, Barry.
(But as Blaze says that, we see it's not Flash, but rather Spyro and Cynder)
Spyro: Good thing it's not Barry.
(At this point, Blaze actually looks at who her company is, and then immediately goes back to looking at the wood cut as Spyro and Cynder sit down on either side of her)
Blaze: What was I thinking doing all of this?
Cynder: What do you mean by "this"?
Blaze: All of this! Taking over the Element Guard, starting this faction, going back into the whole Regime vs Insurgency battle. I've barely been able to grieve Drago's loss with all we've been doing.
Spyro: (Sighs) Yeah, in retrospect we pushed the Guard too hard in all of this.
Cynder: And now we see we pushed you too hard as well. We gave our daughters plenty of time to grieve, but never thought about you. (Places a reassuring paw on Blaze's) That's admittedly our biggest regret.
Spyro: I don't know how we didn't realize this. You've been like a daughter to us all these years.
Blaze: (Dries her eyes) You were grieving yourselves as well. I don't blame you.
Cynder: Still, the regret is ours.
Blaze: (Sighs) I understand what you two are trying to do, but it's really not helping. There's just so much on my plate right now.
Spyro: And you've handled it before.
Blaze: (Kind of confused) What are you talking about?
Cynder: Remember when Dragnarok was just pulled into this world? The Regime captured him and held him at Stryker's Island. You planned the entire mission to rescue him.
(In that moment, Blaze remembers exactly what they're talking about)
Blaze: How did I forget that? That was honestly the greatest moment of my career!
Spyro: You've been under a lot of stress since Dragnarok died. It's no surprise you blocked that memory out.
Blaze: (Looks back at the wood cut) I've got to get out of my own head. That's what you would've wanted. (Holding the wood cut to her heart) Let's do this.
(And with that, Spyro and Cynder accompany Blaze back to the rest of the Legion, all seeing she's back in better spirits)
Blaze: (Seeing the group is staring at her) What're you all staring at me for?
Catwoman: You kind of left in a bit of a state.
Blaze: (Holding the wood cut where she can see it) Let's just say I'm doing better. Now let's get into the game, we've got a breakout to stop.
Flash: She's back alright.
Blaze: So, what do we know about Superman's containment sight.
Flash: Looks like you're going to get a bit lucky, it's basically Stryker's Island.
Blaze: Wait, seriously? They just put Superman on Stryker's Island?
Green Arrow: Well, if what Bruce has told me is true, it's a specially designed containment cell in the center of the prison.
Blaze: So it looks like our general plan from last time works out.
(With that, we flash back to the first Injustice War, and see a much younger Blaze and a few members of the Element Guard preparing to break into Stryker's Island.)
Blaze: Alright guys, remember the plan. We've got to get in, get Dragnarok, and get out before the High Councilor realizes we're here.
(And now we see exactly what's going on, Blaze and co have hijacked a Regime submarine and have used it to get close to Stryker's Island as they can. And with that, they exit through a torpedo chute, not being shot out obviously, and swim straight into the underbelly of the prison, the maintenance tunnels. As they exit the water, Blaze pulls up a communication line)
Blaze: Hydrar, hope you're ready. You're on.
Hydrar: (Via the communication line) Ready for anything, Blaze.
Blaze: Then get on it.
(Within seconds of her giving the order, something can be heard rising from the waters, though we don't see what it is, followed by the sound of rushing troops)
Blaze: That's our cue, let's go!
(With that, Blaze and her team sneak their way through the tunnels and eventually up a ladder, where they exit into the prison courtyard where the remnants of a Regime camp can be found)
Blaze: Looks like Hydrar's distraction is working. I think we're going to be able to get out of here Scott Free!
(Of course just as she says that, the past version of Catwoman rolls up onto the scene)
Blaze: Me and my big mouth.
Catwoman: Did you really think we'd leave this place completely unguarded?
Blaze: Well, kind of.
(With that, Blaze and Catwoman start to fight, but it's pretty clear that by this point Catwoman is fully back on Batman's side and is faking the fight, which Blaze takes advantage of and has her on the mat in no time. After Catwoman is taken care of, Blaze and company move on through the maze of passages before ultimately ending up in the main cell block, where Dragnarok is being held in the center of the stage. Within minutes, the group has Dragnarok freed and are helping him out of there)
Blaze: Can you walk, Drago?
Dragnarok: Barely. But I've been through worse than this. (Sarcastically) What took you so long?
Blaze: Strategizing. This place is a fortress.
(As Dragnarok chuckles to that response, the group moves out just as Hydrar's distraction sinks back into the depths, ending our tale for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for today. Yes the ending was unusual, but I did say there would be stories from the first Injustice War, and that's why the story was called The Injustice Wars. Well, this was the first of them. I know there's not a lot of detail, but it should work out pretty well for the basic idea. So, next time, Blaze takes on Stryker's Island again. So how's that going to go? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
