Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the Legion finalized their plans to move on Stryker's Island and stop the Regime from rescuing Superman. After a reveal that the group was meeting on the Justice League's old conference table, the team headed out. Setting out from Black Manta's submarine, the group splits into three parts off the shore. So what awaits them on the inside? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens on the shore of Stryker's Island, where the three rafts the Legion set up have hit the beach. Straightaway we see the teams in each raft and spot the direction in which they're heading. Shade, Blitz, Hydrar, Bloodtar, Twirl, Tundra, Green Arrow, Red Hood, and Black Lightning head into a side tunnel towards the generator room. Blaze, Spyro, Cynder, Ember, Flame, Flash, and Supergirl head up the side towards the main entrance, while Sizzle, Rokko, Leroy, Zatanna, Vixen, Mr. Freeze, Atom, Catwoman, Batgirl, and Deathstroke start scaling the walls of the prison. In the distance, we can see Black Manta's submarine sink below the waves, as it starts scouting around the island. Within minutes, we focus in on Shade's team, heading deep into the bowels of the prison, and before long we see them enter the generator room, where currently nobody appears to be on guard)
Shade: So much for the Bat's preparedness. There's nobody here! This place is wide open for electrical assault by Black Adam.
Black Lightning: I wouldn't be too sure about that. If I know Batman, he's got them hiding in the shadows.
Blitz: Good point. But even then, it's not like they've got some unknown heavy hitter or anything.
(And just like that the entire group is bathed in a green light from behind)
Twirl: You just had to say something, didn't you love?
(And just as they say that, the green light takes on the form of chains binding everyone and hanging them upside down by their ankles as Green Lantern makes himself known, accompanied by Black Canary)
Green Arrow: Wait a second. Hal? You're part of the Insurgency?
Shade: Moreover, the Guardians let you wear green again?!
Green Lantern: Nice to see you too.
Black Canary: Never expected you to bring the dragon's team here, Ollie.
Green Arrow: Relax, pretty bird, I can tell you we're just here to help.
Green Lantern: (Looks back at the rest of the group, especially Red Hood) And how do any of these guys help?
Tundra: As crazy as it sounds, the Regime is probably on their way here any second.
Green Lantern: Trust me, we've noticed that Diana's been active again.
Hydrar: Oh, so the Bat only cares after we noticed the problem.
Green Lantern: The problem you guys made worse by losing Aquaman to them?
Bloodtar: Watch your sarcasm you yellow coward!
(Needless to say this does not sit well with Green Lantern, who slams Bloodtar on his head using the chain construct holding everyone up before moving right into his face)
Green Lantern: Don't. You. Ever. Call Me. A Coward. The Guardians put me through hell to get this ring back.
Red Hood: Given your track record, I'd say that's a questionable decision at best.
Green Lantern: Watch it, kid. I'm not afraid to smack you around a bit.
Shade: I see not much has changed since the last time we met, Hal Jordan. You've still got that violent streak the Regime allowed in you.
Green Lantern: (Sees Shade is here) Oh great. You again.
Black Lightning: Guys, now's really not the time to be fighting. Hydrar's right. Diana and Black Adam have already busted out Damian and Cyborg, as well as recruited Arthur. They're on their way here to break Clark out as we speak. Now if you would, let us down so we can help you out. I can seriously hear the blood rushing to my head.
(With that, and a little encouragement from Black Canary, Green Lantern lets up and drops everyone, admittedly on their heads, but he does let them go.)
Shade: Not cool, Hal Jordan.
Black Canary: Guessing you came down here for the same reason we did.
Green Arrow: Protect the generators from Black Adam? Yeah, pretty much. Blaze and her team went up to guard Superman personally, and the rest are manning the walls.
Black Canary: Well then, looks like Blaze is going to meet the new kids.
Green Arrow: You're kidding, right? Bruce has the kids up there?!
Shade: I can only imagine how Blaze is going to react to that.
(With that statement, we transfer up to the main containment area, where Blaze and her team are strutting in, right up to Superman's containment cell, where the former High Councilor sits on his cot, reading a book, when he sees the dragons and company approaching, stepping up to the glass)
Superman: Well, well, well. I had heard you were back.
Blaze: And this is a reunion I never expected to have.
Superman: You're still looking quite lovely, compared to how distraught you were last time I saw you.
Blaze: Don't even go there. (Looks at the book he's reading) Machiavelli? Why am I not surprised?
Superman: I didn't quite appreciate the advice he gave the first time I read The Prince. I thought he was crazy. Then I learned he was right. It is better to be feared than loved.
Blaze: And that's the thing you forgot in the aftermath. Machiavelli wrote that book to show people the way to Hell so that they may flee it. You kept right on that path. Good intentions or otherwise.
(Just as the stare down between Blaze and Superman begins, the sound of a mechanical implement activating can be heard, alongside the flaring of fire. Hearing this, the entire group turns around, revealing Blue Beetle and Firestorm)
Blue Beetle: (Trying to sound badass) That's about as close as you're going to get.
Blaze: I take it these are Blue Beetle and Firestorm, Barry?
Flash: You got it.
Blaze: What is it with Bruce and recruiting kids!?
Firestorm: If you're here to free Superman, then forget it.
Flash: Jaime, Jason, we're here to help you.
Blue Beetle: You'll forgive me for not being sure.
Blaze: I'd listen to Barry if I were you.
Firestorm: Then tell us why you're here.
Blaze: Believe me, we're here to help keep him contained.
Blue Beetle: You believe them, Jason?
Firestorm: I've heard stories of these dragons helping out during the end of the Regime, Professor Stein's told me a lot in that regard. But I really don't know.
(Just as it looks like there's about to be another standoff, a voice calls out from the background)
Harley Quinn: Stand down, kids.
(And just like that, Harley Quinn enters, armed with her signature mallet.
Harley Quinn: They're on the level.
Blaze: (With a sigh of relief) Good to see you again, Harley.
Harley Quinn: Hey, after everything we've gone through with Ivy recently, it's nice to see a familiar face. (Embraces Blaze briefly) Sorry about the kids, they're a bit jumpy, looking for a chance to prove themselves as big leaguers.
Blaze: Hey, I don't blame them. I was the same way when I was younger.
Harley Quinn: (To Blue Beetle and Firestorm) You needn't worry about this bunch, they're on the level. (Notices Supergirl) Though you might want to have some Kryptonite ready.
Blue Beetle: (Dematerializing his weapon back into his suit) Well, in that case, it's a pleasure to meet all of you.
Firestorm: Feeling's mutual.
Blaze: I'll be honest, I'm still not sure about putting two kids on the front lines.
Blue Beetle: On the frontlines? We're on guard duty!
Blaze: I'd guess Bruce has told you about Brainiac by this point. Having both an alien collector of worlds and the former High Councilor on the loose would be apocalyptic.
Firestorm: That's exactly what Professor Stein told me when we talked about this. (To Blue Beetle) Looks like you owe me five bucks.
Blue Beetle: I'll pay up once this is over.
Blaze: So you three will accept our help?
Harley Quinn: You know it, girlfriend!
Blaze: Alright then, let's get to work.
(As the group starts talking with Superman listening on in the background, having returned to his book by this point, the scene ends)
And that looks like a good spot to end for today. So, we've got our teams in place on Stryker's Island. If I had to guess, things are going to go pear-shaped any minute now. But just how badly is this going to turn out? Tune in next time to find out. Same time... same channel!
