Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the assault on Stryker's Island came to a head, and ended in what is arguably the worst case scenario. Superman escaped, and nearly killed Blaze while he was at it, and Batman, for some reason, just let him escape, much to Blaze's dismay. But I will say this, Batman and Blaze's big blow up will have to really wait for another day to really get underway, because today, there's one thing I want to do above all today. Something I set up a while ago story wise, and something I've personally been waiting to do since I started this, and finally found a way to integrate into the story. So let's not waste a second. Yami, I have a feeling you're going to like this...
(Our story resumes back at Legion HQ, where specifically we see everyone from both the Insurgency and Legion is recovering from their disastrous defeat at the hands of the Regime. To specify even further, we focus in on Ember and Flame tending to Blaze, bandages across her head to keep her obviously fractured skull together. As she lays there, Batman approaches, causing her to scowl at him in anger and attempt to get up and fight him, but her parents manage to restrain her as Spyro and Cynder step to her defense)
Batman: Care to explain what you were doing interfering in my operation?
Spyro: In case you haven't noticed, Blaze is kind of suffering from a fractured skull. It's advised she rest until further notice.
Cynder: So in short, step off Bruce.
Batman: Or what?
Cynder: Or we'll make you.
Ember: Be grateful we're letting you and your fellow Insurgents use our base for a recovery point.
Flame: It's more than you deserve.
Batman: We didn't ask for this.
Green Arrow: Well you got it anyway, Bats. So don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
(Batman just brushes off Green Arrow's comments, and continues to try and speak with Blaze.)
Batman: Your help is appreciated, but it doesn't explain what you were doing meddling in my operation.
(At this point, the generation before the Element Guard is clearly annoyed that Batman has continued to press the point despite it being irrelevant to the situation, but Blaze is incredibly sick of it by this point, and actually pipes up)
Blaze: (Weakly) I'll explain myself... once you explain why you let Superman go...
(At this point, all eyes are on Batman, but we immediately transition away, to focus back on the scene of Superman's breakout, which has the news swarming the place, followed by mobs of Regime supporters, but notably one figure sneaks through the crowd, a figure clad in what looks like a blue denim jacket and jeans with a crescent moon necklace. This is June Moone, a freelance artist. But something seems... off... about her. And immediately we see what's going on, she's heading straight for the spot where Superman escaped, still marked with Blaze's blood, which she picks up with a handkerchief. But as she does we see something in her eyes, something evil, something that is clearly not June Moone. Her disappearing in a cloud of shadows proves that much. Soon we follow that cloud of shadows back to the same barn where the Enchantress led her followers in their ritual earlier on. And soon after arriving, June Moone ceases to be, emerging from the cloud of shadows as the Enchantress.)
Enchantress: (Shaking something off) I hate limiting my powers in June's body. (Chuckles) May she rest in peace.
(Now it's clear what's happened, June Moone is no more, the Enchantress has fully consumed her at this point. And as she laughs over June's death, Enchantress pulls out the handkerchief soaked in Blaze's blood, approaching the violet flame she has maintained since her appearance initially.)
Enchantress: Now we have everything we need. (With a dark smile on her face) Let's see if this Dark Master is all he's cracked up to be.
(And with that, Enchantress throws the blood soaked handkerchief into the violet flame, causing it to erupt into a screaming flash of chaos. For a moment, a familiar visage appears, that of the first Purple Dragon, Malefor. But as the flame continues to flare up, the visage of Malefor disappears, replaced by another, one more familiar if all the more unexpected. And as the flame does down, burning the Aethercrest into the floor, a dark violet and black dragon stands where the flame once was. Coursing with what looks like violet electricity, the figure rises, revealing blood red eyes. Enchantress curtsies to this figure, but is ultimately confused by his appearance)
Enchantress: Strange, this isn't what I was told Malefor looked like at all...
(Now the dark dragon speaks up, with a voice that should be familiar, if distorted)
?: No... I'm... not Malefor. I'm... someone else...
Enchantress: The dark forces didn't tell of another dark Purple Dragon.
?: (As the full sinister-ness takes over) Oh, believe me, every Purple Dragon has the darkness within them. Marked from the moment they're born.
Enchantress: (Confused for a second, then puts it together) Oh, you're him, aren't you?
?: No. I am not who you think I am. I am an entirely separate entity. Your ritual put the darkness in command. The one you think I am languishes in the arms of Morpheus, unable to do anything to stop me.
Enchantress: No matter who you are, I was promised a powerful dark lord.
?: And that is what you have found. (Stepping down from the altar) I am unlike anything the forces of good have ever seen. I will make the old Dark Master look like a whelp, and claim his title as my own. (Shooting a glare at her) And you had best tone down that attitude unless you want to face that might first hand.
Enchantress: (Now surprisingly... turned on) I'll admit, I like a man who takes command of the room. (With a slight bow) In that case, consider me, at your service
?: (Examines Enchantress head to toe after her inflection of desire) Hmm... you seem a suitable mate. Very well then. Together, we will bring this world to it's knees, and subjugate it under my dark bloodline. (Thinks about it) Yes... I like the sound of that...
Enchantress: Every dark lord needs a name that strikes terror into the hearts of their enemies.
?: And I have found mine. Soon, this world will tremble before the name... of DARKBLOOD!
(And as the newly revealed Darkblood cackles away into the night, our tale ends for today)
It has happened, the ultimate antagonist of the Nullverse has arrived. Darkblood is at last here. You have no idea how long I've waited for a chance to introduce this character to The Injustice Wars. In truth, Darkblood is probably my favorite of Yami's original characters for the Nullverse. He's a blast to write. I guess it kind of helps that I was partially involved in his creation. Ask Yami if you want more information. But at last, he is here. Meaning his faction should follow very soon, in fact, we already have the roots of it here. Darkblood and Enchantress are the beginning of one of the six factions in this war. The members of which are some of the most infamous in the entirety of the Nullverse. More on them as they come up. So, he's here, and things are about to get a lot darker.. Next time, we resume our discussion with Blaze and Batman. So be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
