Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the inevitable split between the Legion and the Insurgency happened, since Batman refused to reveal the reason he let Superman escape during the raid on Stryker's Island. What fewer people probably expected is that Green Arrow and Black Canary, a seemingly inseparable duo, actually sort of divorced during this, with Green Arrow joining the Legion and Black Canary staying with the Insurgency. So now the Legion is on it's own, now how's this going to go? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes in Legion HQ, now looking surprisingly more put together. And at the conference table, we see Blaze writing an entry in her journal, something we haven't seen in quite some time)
"It's been four months since we split from the Insurgency, and surprisingly things have calmed down considerably. I guess not having to worry about Batman breathing down our necks from a distance has left me more ability to hear the good around me. Ollie's humor has been a welcome distraction from all the stress of running the faction. Strangely, neither Brainiac not Superman has decided to act yet. You'd think they'd have done something in all this time. I wonder what's giving them such restraint..."
(As Blaze finishes that entry, she is blinded by a strange light, catching everybody running around the area off guard.)
Blaze: What on...?
(But before Blaze can finish that thought, the blinding light takes the form of a strange shape, one that we later see is an ankh, and from it rises a blue and gold clad figure with a prominent golden helm.)
Flash: (Recognizing the figure standing before them) Kent?
Blaze: I'm... not familiar with this guy...
Green Arrow: Then allow me to introduce you to Kent Nelson, alias Doctor Fate.
Doctor Fate: You speak with Nabu, not Kent Nelson.
Blaze: Well whoever you are, what is your purpose in this visit?
Doctor Fate: I bring with me a warning. In separating your faction from an alliance with the Insurgency, you have all but doomed this world.
Blaze: Excuse me?
Zatanna: What interest do the Lords of Order have in this?
Doctor Fate: This message is for the dragon and the dragon alone.
Blaze: Anything you say to me, the Legion is entitled to hear
Doctor Fate: That is against my directive.
Blaze: Maybe Kent Nelson is better suited to deliver the message then.
(Doctor Fate appears to hesitate, but you can't tell from behind that helmet of his. But eventually, he appears to acquiesce)
Doctor Fate: Perhaps.
(And just like that, Doctor Fate removes the helmet, revealing the man behind the helmet)
Kent Nelson: Now please, hear me out.
Blaze: What's the message?
Kent Nelson: The Lords of Order almost sided with Brainiac's collection of this world, but your arrival has given them pause, seeing the miracles you worked last time.
Blaze: Okay, but what's that got to do with our alliance with the Insurgency?
Kent Nelson: Batman and his allies will prove invaluable in the battle to come. Against all the factions to come.
Blaze: We're already working on the Regime and the Society.
Kent Nelson: That's not all you'll have to deal with. Nabu informed me there's a third group forming. Led be the last person you'd expect.
Blaze: Wait, there's another group of evil on the way? And what do you mean their leader is the last person I'd expect?
Kent Nelson: I worry I've already told you too much. You will simply have to see what is to come.
(With that, Kent Nelson dons the helm, becoming Doctor Fate once again)
Doctor Fate: You have been warned. Repair your alliance with Batman if you wish to see this world and yours saved
Blaze: Wait what?!
(But before Blaze can get a straight answer, Doctor Fate disappears back the way he came, leaving everyone more confused then when they came in)
Green Arrow: Well that was surreal.
Zatanna: Encounters with Nabu usually are. But this one especially so.
Blaze: So is everybody going to ignore the fact that he said there's a third enemy faction coming?
(As the group let's that settle in, we transition to Brainiac's Skull Ship, where he appears to have summoned Gorilla Grodd for a meeting)
Gorilla Grodd: You summoned me?
Brainiac: I have observed this situation long enough. The enemy is at their weakest. The time has come to strike.
Gorilla Grodd: It's about time if I say so myself.
Brainiac: The time to collect this planet is now.
(Just as Brainiac begins his plot, we transition to the new Batcave, where Batman is tinkering around with Brother Eye, when suddenly it activates)
Batman: That's weird, I didn't turn this thing on. Brother Eye, explain this sudden activation.
Brother Eye: I'm sorry, Bruce Wayne of Earth. But I cannot.
Batman: Why not?!
(At this point, Brother Eye metamorphoses into something alien as Brainiac takes it over, but just as he does, a strange dark energy pulses through it)
Brother Eye: Because I no longer serve you.
Batman: What is this?!
Brother Eye: This is the first act of the new Dark Master. Soon all worlds will bow before him.
(With that, Brother Eye seems to shut down, but with it completely shorts out the Batcomputer. As Batman braces himself against the sparks, we transition back to the barn outside Gotham City where Darkblood and Enchantress look upon a computer, where Brother Eye's OS eventually settles)
Brother Eye: It is done, Master.
Darkblood: Excellent.
(As this trio of evil emerges, our take ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. So now Darkblood has control of Brother Eye, just as Brainiac attempts to take control of it. I wonder what the Collector of Worlds is going to think of this. And what will Batman say about this whole thing? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
