EPISODE 7:

EXT. MAYFAIR – DAY

Delivery boys run around, delivering Lady Whistledown's column to the very eager ton members.

Ladies chat and gossip with conspiratorial smiles, discussing the new column.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
No matter where in London you
visit or who you talk to, there
is still only one topic everyone
is talking about:

EXT. ANTHONY/KATE'S LODGINGS – DAY

Many people walk by Anthony & Kate's place, while a few women head to the door to pay a visit to the new Viscountess.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
the nuptials of the ton's most
eligible bachelor to a young
woman who was practically unknown
until this season.

INT. ANTHONY/KATE DRAWING ROOM – DAY

Kate sips tea while watching Lady Cowper, Cressida, as well as another ambitious mama and her daughter, with a sharp eye, paying close attention to their faces, despite their pleasant words. She still nods in polite acquiescence.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
Though many still speculate about
how the marriage of the Viscount
Bridgerton and his new Viscountess
occurred…

INT. BRIDGERTON HOUSE – DAY

Kate arrives, and is greeted warmly by Violet and Eloise. Hyacinth also comes up, wrapping her arms around Kate's waist. She returns the embrace, happy to be welcomed into the family.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
…it is this author's opinion
that it was a love match.

INT. ANTHONY/KATE DRAWING ROOM – DAY

Kate is entertaining again, but this time, it's Edwina and Mary, and the entire group is all smiles as they sip tea.

INT. BALLROOM – NIGHT

Anthony walks with purpose into a ball, looking around and deftly moving around people.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
For when Lord Bridgerton is
present at a ball…

Anthony's face breaks into a smile, as he sees what he's looking for.

It's Kate, who's talking to other matrons. Anthony pushes a gentleman out of the way to get to Kate's side. She sees him, and smiles, happy to see him. He puts his hand on her shoulder, and murmurs something in her ear that makes her giggle. They turn back to the matrons, keeping up their appearance.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
…he never ceases to pay
unrivaled attention to his
Viscountess…

INT. ANTHONY/KATE BEDROOM – NIGHT

Anthony & Kate are getting busy in bed, very hot and heavy.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
…or captivate every member
of the ton by dancing with
her once more than de
rigueur.

INT. BALLROOM – NIGHT

Anthony & Kate whirl around the ballroom. Amidst the many ton members staring in wonder at the couple, Lady Danbury, the Sharmas and the Bridgertons also watch with pride & bliss.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
The joy that this couple
emanates wherever they go
can only be an indication
of a romantic connection…

Cuts between Kate and Anthony in bed, and them chatting with others at the ball or staring at each other. The love and passion they share is burning as hot as ever.

Last shot is Kate and Anthony in bed, looking at each other after going yet another round. The desire blazes in their eyes as they stare at each other, refusing to let go.

LADY WHISTLEDOWN (V.O.)
…dear readers, that
everyone will notice.

INT. ANTHONY/KATE BEDROOM – MORNING

Kate is asleep in bed, her eyes closed, and a dreamy smile on her face. The sun starts to stream into the room, and Kate opens her eyes. She stares at the window, seeing the bright place outside. She's ready to face the day because of the previous night. She smiles at the memory.

Flashbacks of Anthony & Kate in bed the previous night, kissing and rolling around each other in the bed, cut with Kate smiling in bed at the memory. Kate's moans echo in the background.

Kate smiles. Her husband may claim not to love her, but she certainly enjoys his attentions in bed.

EXT. RACETRACKS – AFTERNOON

The ton is busily chatting about the grounds, socializing as much as they can before the races start. Men and women excitedly speak to each other, while sampling the small plates being offered and drinks.

The Bridgerton family walks around, with Violet and Kate taking charge of the group. Violet & Kate talk and laugh with each other while escorting the group. Hyacinth comes running up, Gregory hot on her tail.

HYACINTH
Kate, where's Newton? I
thought he would be coming
today.

KATE
I'm afraid not, Hyacinth.
If Newton were here, he'd
run straight into the
tracks and spook all the
horses and their riders.
That's the last thing we
need here.

Violet smiles at Kate, enjoying how well she interacts with Gregory and Hyacinth.

VIOLET
All right, you two.
Let's go find our seats
with the rest of your
siblings.

While Violet is talking, Kate looks to her left and stares in the direction. She's seen Lady Danbury, Mary and Edwina…as well as Mr. Bagwell. She watches Mr. Bagwell give Edwina his arm, and realizes he's her escort. Edwina sees Kate, and points Mr. Bagwell in her direction. They start making their way towards Kate.

VIOLET
(voice fading in) Kate,
are you coming? Kate.

Kate quickly turns around, focusing on her surroundings.

KATE
I'll be there in a
moment. It seems like my
sister is coming to me with
the intention of speaking.
I will go greet her.

Violet looks over, sees Edwina with her man, and realizes she wants to introduce Kate. She gives Kate an excited smile, before leaving with Gregory and Hyacinth.

Kate turns towards Edwina and Mr. Bagwell, who have reached her. Mr. Bagwell is keeping a composed expression, a little intimidated by Kate, while Edwina has an eager expression on her face, ready to introduce her sister to the man.

KATE
Edwina, I had no idea you
had an escort for today.

MR. BAGWELL
That would be my fault,
unfortunately. I only got
into town last night, and
your sister insisted that
I accompany her, your
mother, and Lady Danbury
today.

KATE
Did she, now?

Kate looks at Edwina with a pointed stare, knowing her sister has arranged this. Edwina looks at her with a bright smile, but mischievous eyes.

EDWINA
Kate, may I introduce Mr.
Bagwell? Mr. Bagwell, my
sister, Viscountess Bridgerton.

Mr. Bagwell bows in greeting.

MR. BAGWELL
It's an honor to meet
you, Lady Bridgerton.

KATE
And you, as well, Mr.
Bagwell. I apologize. I don't
believe we've met before, and
I have no idea how my sister
came across you when I didn't.

EDWINA
We met at Aubrey Hall,
during the party. (Kate
raises her eyebrows,
surprised) You couldn't have
known. You were distracted.
(Kate gives her sister a
light reprimanding look.
Edwina just smiles, knowing
she can get away with it,
and looks at Mr. Bagwell) Mr.
Bagwell is a scholar. We've
had quite a few enlightening
discussions, both in person
and through letters.

KATE
Letters?

EDWINA
(nods) We've been
corresponding since the
party.

Kate is amazed that her sister has been interested in someone for so long, and hasn't told her. She watches the affectionate gazes pass between the two, and a thrill lights up her face. Her sister is in love, exactly as she wished.

KATE
Well, I certainly hope that
we will have many discussions
in the future, Mr. Bagwell. It
seems my sister has her eye on
you, and will not let you out of
her sight.

MR. BAGWELL
Nor will I, milady.

Kate smiles at his reply.

KATE
Perhaps we can all go a for
a carriage ride in the future?
How long will you be in town for?

MR. BAGWELL
Long enough to be able to go
for one, Lady Bridgerton.

KATE
Well, I'll certainly look
forward to it.

ANTHONY (O.S.)
Look forward to what?

Kate turns to see Anthony, dressed with a top hat and suit, approaching them

KATE
Anthony! I thought you
wouldn't be able to make
it today.

ANTHONY
I managed to finish my work
early, and rushed over as fast
as I could.

He offers his arm to Kate, who gladly takes it, and faces Edwina and Mr. Bagwell.

ANTHONY
Miss Edwina.

EDWINA
Lord Bridgerton. It's a
pleasure to see you.

ANTHONY
I think you can call me
Anthony now. I am family,
after all.

Edwina gives an affectionate, but teasing smile to Anthony. They've developed a brother-sister bond, which Kate is happy to see.

EDWINA
May I present Mr. Bagwell? My
brother-in-law, Viscount
Bridgerton. I'm sure you know
of him.

MR. BAGWELL
Indeed. I've heard the name,
but never actually met in
person. (bows) My greetings,
Lord Bridgerton.

ANTHONY
And to you, Mr. Bagwell. I
didn't know you had an
escort today, Miss Edwina.

KATE
Nor did I. Edwina surprised me
today as much as you with her
scholar suitor.

ANTHONY
Ah.

Kate and Anthony watch Edwina & Mr. Bagwell, clearly besotted with one another. They're genuinely happy for the younger couple.

Edwina looks over her shoulder.

EDWINA
Oh, it appears Mama and Lady
Danbury are calling to take
our seats.

MR. BAGWELL
Shall we?

KATE
I'll speak to you later, Edwina.

Kate watches them leave, then takes Anthony's arm and lets her lead him to where the Bridgerton family is sitting.

INT. ANTHONY/KATE BEDROOM – NIGHT

Kate sits at her vanity, and rubs oil into her hair. Anthony is nearby, rolling up his sleeves, his coat left over a chair nearby. He watches Kate in her nightly ritual, entranced by the sight.

ANTHONY
Edwina seems happy.

KATE
She does. Truly, the way she
lit up around Mr. Bagwell,
that can only mean that she's
in love.

Anthony stiffens at the word, trying to block himself from that feeling.

KATE
And to think she almost
walked away from him.

ANTHONY
Why is that?

KATE
He's a scholar and a second
son, and he doesn't
have a lot of money. She was
worried that if she married
him, Mama and I would be left
to fend for ourselves.

ANTHONY
Ah. But that's not an issue
now that you're married.

KATE
Well, it's not just that.
(collects herself to form
her words) I always thought
I hid our financial problems
from Edwina so she wouldn't
be burdened. It turned out
she's known for a while,
and felt pressure to marry
well…pressure I thought I was
sparing her from.

Anthony watches Kate become slightly unnerved, her hands nervously fidgeting around as the conversation starts to unsettle her

KATE
To think she was going
through that all this time,
and I could've helped her,
eased her burden, and
encouraged her to follow
her heart, I never –

Kate stops abruptly. Anthony has come behind her, grasped her hands, tangled in her hair, and is looking at her in the mirror, as she looks back.

ANTHONY
Allow me.

Kate puts down her hands, as Anthony takes some oil from the tiny cup on the vanity, and rubs it into Kate's hair. She watches him for a few moments, then tries to stop him.

KATE
You're not doing it properly.

ANTHONY
I have watched you do this
every night for almost six
weeks. Give me a chance to
show you what I've learned.
Maybe even…give you a chance
to calm your mind.

KATE
I'm fine.

ANTHONY
You are not fine. That's
what I tell my family to
get them to stop worrying
about me. I'm sure you've
done the same for your
family, too.

Anthony puts his arms on Kate's shoulders, and bends down so his face is level with hers.

ANTHONY
You don't need to worry
about your family anymore.
I promise, I will look
after them like my own,
because they are my
family now. I plan to set
a dowry aside for Edwina
for when she marries.

KATE
Really?

ANTHONY
Really.

Kate smiles in relief, tears in her eyes at Anthony's thoughtful gesture. He brings his face close, and the two are kissing, happily lost in the moment.

Much later, Kate & Anthony are in bed together, sated & relaxed. Anthony spoons around Kate, keeping her close. The two are facing the window, asleep in the embrace.

Lightning flashes outside. Anthony opens his eyes. The thunder starts rumbling, and he looks at Kate, concerned. She starts fidgeting in bed, as the thunder unsettles her.

Another thunderclap hits, even louder, along with a brighter bolt of lightning, causing Anthony to look up from Kate. He looks back down when he hears a noise. He watches Kate closely, and she lets out another whimper. She's in the grips of a nightmare.

ANTHONY
Kate…

Anthony tries to wake her up, gently shaking her, and becomes concerned. She is still whimpering and tossing around, as the storm gets louder and the rain comes down.

ANTHONY
Kate, wake up. It's just a dream.

KATE
No, no, no…

ANTHONY
Yes, Kate. You are all right.

KATE
Amma!

Anthony is taken aback by this. What is Kate saying?

KATE
Amma! Amma, mat jao! Please! Amma!

Anthony is stunned into silence, unable to believe what he's hearing. He just keeps watching Kate, wondering if there's more to what she's saying that they don't know.

INT. ANTHONY/KATE BEDROOM – MORNING

Dawn has come. Sunlight again comes into the room. Kate is peacefully sleeping, no trace of the tension that gripped her the night before. She stirs awake, and turns to her other side. She wakes up and sees Anthony. He's half dressed, wearing half-buttoned shirt and loose trousers, but he's still watching her intently.

KATE
Good morning.

Kate notes the serious look on her face. She is confused.

KATE
Is everything ok?

Anthony looks at her intensely, then his face deflates, the exhaustion of worrying about Kate finally catching up to him. He shakes his head.

ANTHONY
No, it's not.

Kate sits up, wanting to hear what he has to say.

Later:

Kate is pacing about the room, now in her robe, trying to comprehend what Anthony told her. She looks at him, still in disbelief.

KATE
You're absolutely certain
that is what I said? (Anthony
nods once, unhesitant) Those
were the exact words out of
my mouth?

ANTHONY
I could not forget them,
nor how you looked. (Kate
looks around, still trying
to comprehend what happened
to her) What does that mean?
'Mud jaw'?

KATE
Mat jao. It's Hindi for
'don't go'...or don't leave
me. (pause) I have
no idea why I said that.

ANTHONY
What happened to your
mother? (Kate looks up,
pulled out of her thoughts)
How did she die?

KATE
Lung fever. (She sits down,
trying to calm her racing
mind) I was almost four. I
hardly remember. I got sick
too, apparently, but mine was
a mild case. I recovered quickly.
That's all I know. I have no
idea what it has to do with my
fear of storms.

Anthony watches Kate, trying to grasp any tidbit she can remember to work out how this all adds up. He's concerned, and can see she wants answers as much as he does. He decides to speak up.

ANTHONY
There's only one person who
can answer that question.

Kate looks up and sees Anthony's determined expression, and her face changes to a hesitant determination as she realizes what she needs to do.

INT. DANBURY HOUSE – MORNING

Anthony gets down from the carriage, and Kate follows him. They come to the front door, where a footman opens to their knock. They make their way inside, their faces both showing determination.

INT. DANBURY DRAWING ROOM – MORNING

Kate sits on a couch, nervous. Anthony stands off to the side, his hand on a nearby chair, too tense to sit and wait. They hear a footfall, and look to the door.

Mary walks in, surprised to see the two of them.

MARY
Kate! Anthony! I wasn't
expecting you. But don't
get me wrong, it's a
pleasure. I'm afraid Edwina
isn't here. Lady Danbury is
out chaperoning her and Mr.
Bagwell on a promenade.

KATE
That's completely fine,
Mama. We didn't come to
see Edwina. We came to
talk to you.

Mary notes the serious expression on both their faces, and her face changes to concern.

MARY
What is it?

Mary watches Kate and turns to Anthony, wondering what has happened.

Cut to:

Mary and Kate are sitting next to each other, with Anthony hovering over them.

MARY
I…I had no idea. I
thought your fear had
gone away.

Mary is shocked and upset to hear that Kate's fear is still present, and feels guilty, like she failed as a parent.

KATE
I got good at hiding it.

MARY
I still should've known.
I was supposed to take
care of you and help you
when you were hurting –

KATE
Mama…you did nothing wrong.
You have taken care of me
as your own for years,
and I am grateful to you.

MARY
You do not need to be
grateful. I promised to
love you as my own from
the moment your father
proposed, and I stand by
that vow to this day. I've
done whatever I can to
raise and love you as much
as Edwina, and I will
continue to do that.

Kate and Mary hold each other's hands, the tenderness of their relationship showing in their expressions.

KATE
This is really hard of me
to ask, but…I need to know
what happened to my mother.

Mary looks at Anthony for a moment nervously, before looking back at Kate.

MARY
I should've told you years ago.

KATE
Told me what?

Mary looks nervously, then sighs in resignation, preparing to tell Kate what she knows.

INT. SHARMA LONDON RESIDENCE – NIGHT

FLASHBACK

A storm thunders and rages outside the windows, with the trees blowing from strong winds. YOUNG KATE (3) comes out of her bedroom, unable to sleep. She nervously walks through the hall, agitated by the loud sounds of the thunder and wind.

She opens the door to her parents' bedroom. Inside, Naren is leaning over his wife, ANURADHA (late 20s), bedridden and unconscious. He looks up at hearing the door open, his face wet with tears. He's shocked to see Kate.

NAREN
Kathani! Beta, go back to
bed. Yahan nahin aa sakta.
(You can't come here)

KATE
I can't sleep.

NAREN
Because of the storm?

Kate gives a small nod. Naren gives a small reassuring smile, still concerned about her being in the same room as the dying Anuradha.

NAREN
Go back to your room,
and I'll come read you
a story soon. I promise –

A huge thunderclap, louder than any other, and a bright lightning bolt startles him, illuminating the whole room. He shakes off the sudden scare, and looks at Kate. Her eyes are wide as she looks at the bed. Naren turns around facing the bed.

Anuradha is sitting up, her mouth open in a silent scream. The thunder and lightning hit again, just as loud and bright as the last one. Naren is horrified by the sight, while Kate just stands in shock.

NAREN
Anu?

His voice is trembling as he watches his wife die.

KATE
Amma!

NAREN
Kathani!

Kate runs to her mother. Naren tries to stop her, but she gets out of his grasp and jumps on to the bed in her mother's lap. She cries as she wraps her tiny arms around her mother's waist. Anuradha falls back onto the bed, and becomes still.

KATE
Amma! Amma! Mat jao!
Please, Amma! Amma!

Kate cries out to her mother, while Naren desperately tries to pull her off. He calls out to Kate, but she's not listening. Kate continues to cry, not hearing her father's softer calls. The storm outside is still strong, and can be heard in the background. Both Kate's cries and the storm sounds echo as…

END FLASHBACK

INT. DANBURY DRAWING ROOM – MORNING

…cut back to present day, where Mary, Kate and Anthony still are. Kate is shocked by what Mary has told her. So is Anthony. He knows what it's like watch a parent die, but he was 17. Kate was only 3.

He and Kate look at each other as they get clarity on everything she's been through. They have a bit of relief from their questions, but wonder where to go from here.

INT. ANTHONY/KATE BEDROOM – NIGHT

Anthony can't sleep, as Kate lies next to him, relaxed unlike the previous night. He remembers how concerned he was about her, and realizes he cares for his wife in a way that he never intended to. He quickly gets up and dresses, leaving Kate alone in bed.

INT. ANTHONY'S STUDY – NIGHT

Anthony sits in his study, dressed, trying to understand his feelings for Kate. He said he wouldn't fall in love with her, but he was concerned about her in a way he's never been before. It's unsettling.

Kate opens the door and comes in, wearing her nightgown and a shawl wrapped around her shoulders. Anthony turns around, and sees her. He sits up, surprised.

ANTHONY
What are you doing here?

KATE
I could ask you the same
thing. It's the middle of
the night. Why aren't you
in bed? Did something happen?

ANTHONY
No, nothing happened.

KATE
Then why did you come here?

ANTHONY
(pause) It's complicated.

KATE
What's complicated?
What's going on?

Suddenly, Anthony realizes what's going on: he's fallen in love with Kate. And it scares him. He can't bear it. He stands up suddenly, unable to sit still.

KATE
Anthony?

Anthony picks up the glass he's been drinking, and downs it in one gulp. He walks to the door.

KATE
Where are you going?

Anthony stops right next to Kate, but doesn't look in her direction.

ANTHONY
I need to go out.

KATE
In the middle of the night?

ANTHONY
I'll be back later. Right
now, I need to go.

Anthony walks out, leaving Kate befuddled.

INT. DINING ROOM – MORNING

Kate has breakfast by herself, looking at the empty chair on the other side of the table. She's barely touched her breakfast, wondering where Anthony is. She's sad that he's not there. She debates what to do, since he's not here. She gets an idea, and her face changes. She gets up, and prepares to head out.

EXT. LONDON STREET – AFTERNOON

Kate gets down from the carriage. She looks around at the street, crowded with people. It's not a high-end neighborhood, but it's not the slums, either. Both sides are lined with townhomes.

The footman looks around nervously.

FOOTMAN
Lady Bridgerton, I'm not
sure if it's a good idea
for you to be here.

KATE
It's all right. I'm not
going into any of the
houses. In fact, I need
to go around to the fields
behind.

Kate walks on the street, and the footman hesitates before eventually following her.

EXT. WOODS – AFTERNOON

Kate looks around from the street corner to the backs of the townhomes, with tall fences to surround their backyards. She keeps walking, behind the fences, to where an extensive wooded area is revealed. There's many trees in the area, though not a lot of flowers or color besides green and brown.

Kate passes by rocks and trees, trying to discern the path, then sees a small hill of mud, and her eyes brighten in recognition. She goes around the hill to a small clearing. She looks at the trees, then walks towards her left between two trees, stopping in front of one of them, and the camera reveals what she's looking for:

A stone plaque in the ground with the name 'ANURADHA SHARMA' inscribed in. Kate sits in front of the plaque, placing the bouquet of flowers she brought next to the plaque. She gives a sad smile as she looks at her mother's memorial.

KATE
It's unbelievable, isn't it,
Amma? After all these years,
your little girl has returned
and married a nobleman of the
ton, a viscount. Neither of us
could've ever imagined I'd
become a viscountess.

Kate's smile slowly fades from her face, as she remembers what she learned from Mary the day before.

KATE
I had no idea, Amma. I honestly
don't remember being by your
bedside that night. I don't think
I ever would've known if I didn't
ask Mama. But now that I do know,
I'm…I'm relieved. At least I know
where my fear comes from. And
that's thanks to Mary…and Anthony.

Her face breaks out into a smile, as tears start streaming down.

KATE
I wish you could've
met him, Amma. You
would be happy to know
that he's caring for
me. And I am happy…even
though I love him.

Kate sighs, finally saying what has been on her mind.

KATE
I do love him, Amma. And I
knew it could happen, but I
just…I said I would keep
it to myself and find a way
to be happy. But now…I feel
like a fool.

Kate shakes her head, feeling like she's failed.

KATE
I don't why I convinced
myself that hiding the
fact that I love Anthony
would be better. I just…
couldn't hold it in. I
couldn't keep going after
how he worried about me,
then encouraged me to talk
to Mama. I love him…and I
don't know what to do.

Kate looks to the side, her eyes distant

KATE
But Anthony left, and I
don't know when or if
he'll be back. Suddenly,
everything's changed, and
I don't know what to do.
(she looks back at the
plaque) I thought maybe
seeing this place would
help me, but…I'm still lost.

Kate puts a kiss on her fingers, and touches her mother's plaque. She gets up slowly, still sad, and walks away

INT. WILL'S CLUB – MORNING

Anthony is sitting by himself, with a distant look in his eyes. His mind is on Kate, unable to understand how he fell in love with her.

BENEDICT (O.S.)
Brother!

Anthony looks up to see Benedict, who sits in the chair opposite him. Anthony sits up slightly, though he still has a distant look on his face.

ANTHONY
Benedict.

BENEDICT
Shouldn't you be with
your new wife in marital
bliss? Why are you here
this early?

ANTHONY
It's complicated.

BENEDICT
Ah, I've got it.
She kicked you out.

Anthony gives Benedict a reproachful look, but doesn't contradict his assumption.

BENEDICT
And you're sitting here,
wallowing in misery?

Anthony takes another gulp of his drink.

BENEDICT
Why?

Anthony
I told you, it's complicated.

BENEDICT
I don't understand how.

ANTHONY
What do you mean?

BENEDICT
It seems pretty simple
to me. Go back and
apologize to her.

Anthony closes his eyes in frustration. He wishes he could do that.

BENEDICT
Tell her that you want
to spend the rest of your
life making it up to her.
Isn't that all that matters?

Anthony looks at Benedict, his face suddenly dawning with recognition.

BENEDICT
If a design that I'm
painting is complicated,
I don't give up. I will
change my perspective,
because being happy
with my final piece
is all that matters.

Anthony realizes Benedict is right. He simply wants to enjoy life with Kate, and that's all that matters. Benedict smirks at that smile growing on Anthony's face.

BENEDICT
Looks like you've made your decision.

Anthony gets up, heads for the door, but stops and puts his hand on Benedict's shoulder.

ANTHONY
Thank you, brother.

Benedict smiles proudly. He doesn't get many chances to help his older brother. A low thunder rumble can be heard in the background.

INT. ANTHONY'S DRAWING ROOM – MORNING

A rainstorm rages outside as Anthony walks in through the front door to his place. He looks at the drawing room couches, which are empty. He's surprised, believing Kate would've been entertaining guests.

HENSON (O.S.)
My lord?

Anthony turns to see his butler, HENSON, approaching him.

ANTHONY
Henson, where is her ladyship?

HENSON
I don't know, my lord.

ANTHONY
What? What do you mean?

HENSON
She went out a few hours ago.

ANTHONY
Where?

HENSON
We don't know.

A maid walks in behind Henson. Anthony turns his attention to her.

ANTHONY
Do you know where Lady Bridgerton is?

MAID
No, my lord, but…

ANTHONY
But what?

MAID
One of the stable lads
at Bridgerton House said
she came by.

Anthony realizes Kate's gone riding. He looks outside at the storm. He's panicked, and runs out to find Kate immediately.

Horse riding scene in park, Anthony finds Kate just as she is thrown from her horse. He runs to assist her.

Whew! I thought the last chapter was difficult to write, but this one was a doozy :) Comment and review!
