Learning to Kill
Harry bore his bright green eyes into her, piercing all that she was, and cornering all that she strived to be. All around him lights flashed and screams echoed, but all he saw were her hollow, empty eyes. They were lifeless, but they thrived on something more than life. They thrived on death.
"Are you going to kill me Harry?" she laughed, her voice soulless and dry. Her yellow teeth gleamed menacingly in the moonlight. Harry's wand pointed at her chest, quivering in anticipation of what was to come. He breathed through his teeth, sucking in the cold air around him. Mud and dirt covered his pale face.
Harry breathed deeply. Anger flooded through his body. He should kill her. He wanted to kill her! She had taken everything that he loved away from him! She had killed Sirius, and she served the Dark Lord! And yet, as the anxiety of it all heightened, his wand continued to shake furiously.
She laughed. It seemed to scream in Harry's mind, overcoming all of the other sounds that surrounded him. Her mouth opened wide, and you could see the blackness of her throat. She threw her head back, and continued to shrill out in pure amusement. What was so funny about being pinned up against a tree by Harry Potter?
"We've been through this before." she shrieked," Remember Potter? You have to want to kill. You have to let the feeling overcome you and drown you to actually do it. How bad do you really want to kill me?"
She smiled wickedly, triumph spreading across her face. Harry's nostrils flared, and his wand shook even more furiously. Pure rage took over and he felt his insides steam.
"YOU DESERVE IT! YOU DESERVE TO DIE AFTER ALL YOU'VE DONE!" Harry screamed, stepping forward and pointing the wand even closer to her black heart. She deserved to die! She didn't deserve to keep living, feeling, and loving, whereas, the people she killed couldn't! Sirius DIED! Sirius died because of her!
"Harry!" Ron screamed off to his right. Harry glanced out of the corner of his eye to see a death-eater charge towards Ron. Ron skittered back and shot a curse his way. "Harry we have to get out of here!"
Harry stepped forward, ready to say those two unforgivable words. Bellatrix smiled.
"Kill me then," she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.
His wand quivered. Just say it. Say it. She deserves it. She deserves it all.
But, inside, Harry couldn't help but think that nobody deserved to die.
"A-avada K-k-k," Harry tried. The words wouldn't flood from his lips. A tear trickled down his face and splashed onto the grimy earth. He lowered his wand, his hands still shaking continuously. His teeth chattered together, not necessarily from the cold, but from the anxiety of killing her. Of finally killing Bellatrix Lestrange.
If possible, her smile grew wider. She stepped forward and pushed Harry out of the way. His head still hung, his eyes fixed on the ground.
"Killing is inside everyone, Harry. There are just those who can control it," Bellatrix hissedturning her body until it faced Harry. She whipped out her wand and pointed it at Ron who fought beside her. He froze in fear, cornered by Bellatrix and the other Death-Eater. Bellatrix never turned towards Ron, but kept her eyes fixed solely on Harry. "And those who can't."
"AVADA KEDARVA!"
Ron's eyes grew wide. Harry's wand shook furiously in his hand, still pointing at Bellatrix's body. A tear trickled off his lips and fell into his mouth. She fell slowly, tilting towards the muddy ground. She landed with a thump, a wicked smile still plastered on her face.
A/N: Weird, yes, I know. But it was just something I thought of and felt like typing. I want feedback please!
