AN: New beginnings and burned bridges take place as Bonnie gets closer to opening the portal to the cure.
Lots of behind-the-scenes things are going on to focus on Kennett's budding romance, which isn't the only thing blossoming. One more expression sacrifice needs to happen which won't be behind the scenes :)
I updated the rating to M (because when I say siphon problem, I mean NOTHING good) and added new character tags with some of my faves from Riverdale (this story was always meant to be a crossover, we just haven't met those extra characters yet, I hope you still enjoy it!)
"She's not dead, she's in transition."
"Technically that's still dead." Kol said as he took Abby from his brother's arms. He carried her to the couch.
"Shut up Kol. The two of you have a lot of explaining to do. Your mother would still be breathing as a human if the lot of you had-"
"Don't put this on us!" Bonnie shouted, further angering Klaus. "Abby left town, what the hell is she doing back?"
"You neglected to inform us that our mother was channeling your entire ancestral line for more power. Ring any bells, witch?"
Bonnie pierced Klaus's eyes with narrowed orbs, her chest heaving furiously.
"And why would I tell you that?"
"You must have known about this too," Klaus glared at his baby brother, who just smirked in return.
"Especially with Elijah and his 'do whatever it takes to preserve his damned family' complex? So he can kill me or my mom? I knew that's what he'd do." Bonnie shook her head. "He once gave me your word he'd help me take you out. And he didn't. He's a traitor so no, I don't trust any of you."
"And yet you trust Kol of all people. Why, he's the worst of the lot, love. Have you told her Kol, how many people we've ripped apart, bathed in their blood, and feasted on their bones?"
Bonnie winced at Klaus's revelation. Kol's smirk suddenly contorted into a glare.
"You're in need of a lobotomy, sweetheart, if you think for one minute you can count on my baby brother here. He enjoys violence as much as I do, if not more. Take caution love, he'll discard you the instant he grows weary of your company."
Klaus gave his own evil smirk and was suddenly punched at vampire speed. Kol continued pummeling speeding fists into him then grabbed the hybrid by his throat.
"You will refrain from speaking to her like that!" Kol snarled as he tightened his grip.
Suddenly, Klaus twisted his brother's arm with his hybrid speed until it snapped out of place, then broke his neck in multiple places. Now limp and lifeless, Kol plummeted to the ground in an interim of death induced slumber.
"He really does lose his temper too often. Pity," Klaus shook his head in dismay, stepping over his brother's crumpled form. "Now, since we're allies, I'm willing to forgive that oversight in divulging information. What else aren't you telling me?"
Bonnie looked at Kol's temporarily dead body. She hesitated. "You're not going to dagger him are you?"
"Give me one reason why I shouldn't? We could have all met our permanent death!"
She then realized it was indeed necessary to apprise Klaus of the end result from the attack of her ancestors, her purloined magic, and how Kol training her to wield expression wasn't just for the spell to find the cure.
"Esther's link to our magic has been broken since then. She's doing this with or without me, that's why my powers were muted. If I'm dead, she can still channel our line and use expression to do the spell. Of course, she'd have to start all over. But, Abby…" she said as she finished recanting the details.
"Her death was in vain. Elijah only wanted to break the link our mother had to your ancestral line. It doesn't have to be so, Bonnie. She can complete the transition."
Klaus explained how Abby had been an unwilling guest the past week, courtesy of Elijah. He wanted her for questioning, though she refused to disclose any information about her daughter. She also refused to perform any magic spells for Elijah. She spent most of the time being painted by Klaus. Weird, Bonnie thought.
The hybrid also revealed it was Damon who fed Abby his blood once he realized Abby's life was literally in his hands. Elijah compelled him to kill Abby or Bonnie, whoever he came across first then conveniently released Abby. Damon, the same person who spilled the beans in the first place, as an act of defiance, gave Abby his blood first before completing the task.
"How is he still fucking shit up when he's supposed to be out of the way?!" Bonnie lamented.
"Say the word, and I'll put him down, for you. For good." Klaus prompted, peering into her eyes with what she knew was a dead serious expression in his icy blue spheres.
"Why would you do that? For me?"
"Because it would make you happy. And that would piss Kol off." His expression was still serious but he was grinning from ear to ear now.
Annoyed, Bonnie rolled her eyes. "No thanks, he's Stefan's problem."
"Very well, then. We have an advantage. As long as you're alive, Esther can no longer channel you, meaning she's not as powerful. Unless there's another Bennett witch out there?"
"No, just Abby and me."
"Noted. So, as long as we work together to find the cure before Esther does, your friends will remain safe."
Klaus surveyed the spot over her shoulder, his gaze landing on Abby's body on the couch. "I do hope she decides to turn. Be a bleeding shame if she didn't complete the transition after what she's been through."
"What exactly happened?"
He clasped his hands behind his back and gave a knowing smirk. It brought Kol to mind. "Your mother will fill you in. I quite fancy her,"
She could do nothing but frown and think ew.
"You know love, I was one hundred percent sincere when I said Kol was the worst of us."
"I believe you." she responded with a gulp.
"Do you?"
She nodded.
"It will only get worse, the more attached to you he becomes. If you two ever had a falling out, it would not bode well for anyone to cross his path. Kol doesn't handle grief well. Why, he would slaughter the city and burn it to the ground with everyone in it." Another gulp from Bonnie. "However, not in a thousand years, have I witnessed my brother temper his homicidal tendencies as he has since he's acquired your company." He leaned down to whisper in her ear. "I wouldn't take that lightly, sweetheart."
Again, she nodded. There was nothing Bonnie could say at that point to dissuade him. Even prior to the premonition she and Kol experienced, everything was telling her that she was already in too deep to try and deny what her magic already knew, seeing as how it vibrated everytime she was near Kol.
Kol's POV
"You've got some nerve coming here. I suggest you get the hell out of here, before Bonnie melts your face off, while I hold you down." Kol heard Caroline sharply suggest with his enhanced sense of hearing.
"I'm here to talk to the witch, not you Blondie."
"Stay here with Abby," Bonnie instructed Kol. He bent his head and cracked his neck as Bonnie headed downstairs to the front door.
"What makes you think she wants to talk to the vampire who continually-"
"Care, it's ok. I got this." Bonnie said at the door. Caroline apparently stayed right where she was.
"Why did you try and save her?" Bonnie asked Damon.
"Is it so hard to believe that I'm capable of doing the right thing?"
Kol heard a scoff then Caroline's voice muttering, "yeah tell that to Elena."
"Stay out of it."
"What do you want, Damon? The damage is already done. When Abby wakes up, she'll have a decision to make, thanks to you."
"So you don't know what actually went down?"
"Klaus wanted me to hear it from Abby."
"Well, you should hear my version."
A loud breath was exhaled.
"Damon, I'm tired and I don't trust you."
Kol came hopping down the stairs, stopping to lean on the wall at the edge of the stairs, giving Damon an instigating smirk. Damon who fumed and flared his nostrils turned his attention back to Bonnie.
"Yet you trust Kol of all people? Out of all the Originals you pick the most volatile and impulsive one?"
"Let's see. Volatile, impulsive, can't-be-trusted old-school vampire. Sounds like you, only the difference is Kol hasn't harmed me or the majority of my friends. You did this, Damon and now your bullshit has implicated my mom!"
Bonnie slammed the door. It was already obvious to Kol that Damon's jealousy was rearing its ugly head. As the little witch got closer to Kol, Damon feared he wouldn't have the witch at his beck and call for his precious doppelgänger, whom he'd already fallen out with. Now he was trying to suck up to the best friend in hopes she'd vouch for him. A rather pathetic move in Kol's mind. Poorly calculated as well. Kol couldn't wait to hear Abby's recapitulation of the boundless evening's events
"Ladies, Abby has risen."
Bonnie began to rush upstairs but Caroline flashed in front of her. "Sweetie, I know you wanna see Abby, but remember, you're the only human here. You can't just run in and hug her. Remember what I told you about baby vampires?"
Kol felt Bonnie's heart sink. "Right, I'll be careful."
Bonnie, Caroline, and Kol treaded up the stairs at human pace in silence.
Abby was sitting up on the bed in her old room, rubbing her neck. As soon as she saw her daughter, tears welled up in her eyes.
"Bonnie, I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have to see me like this."
"No Abby, I'm sorry. I should've protected you. You were supposed to go home!"
"What happened?" Caroline asked quietly.
"Elijah set me up." Abby turned a glare onto Kol. "I was in your home for an entire week."
Kol thought for a moment. "Sage," he said.
"He didn't know, Abby." Her daughter explained. "You must have been in a room that was burning sage."
"That's why I didn't sense your presence."
"Yeah, I guess." Abby huffed. "Anyway, Elijah was convinced I knew where Esther was or how to stop her. I'm guessing the fact that I told him nothing pissed him off, because he threatened your life, Bonnie."
A grave mistake, Kol thought, his hands forming into fists.
"Tonight, he let me go for some reason. He said I was no longer needed and everything was taken care of. And if I wanted to know what that meant, I'd find the answers at the grille. So I went there for nothing, ain't shit at the grille. Stepped outside and then, I- I don't know. I heard Klaus's voice and that's all I remember."
"So when did Damon give you his blood?" Bonnie wondered.
"Salvatore? Shit, he must've laced my drink with it, he was there."
"He didn't want your death to be permanent," Bonnie concluded.
"He took my life but he also gave me a second chance at it. I'm not going to waste it, Bonnie. I plan to do right by you this time. If you'll let me. I wanna help you with whatever you're doing."
Caroline wore a puzzled expression, Bonnie just gasped at her mother. "You're asking for a relationship with me?"
"Yes," Abby said as she gulped. "Only if you want to."
Bonnie stepped forward and Caroline placed her hand on Bonnie's arm, in an attempt to soothe her. "Why now?"
"I- I don't know. I just know that I wanna be a part of your life."
"Since when, Abby?! You gave me up, you- you've been compelled!"
She turned and marched back downstairs, Caroline hurrying after her. Kol stayed in the room, capturing Abby's gaze in compulsion.
Bonnie flung the front door open to find that Damon was indeed still standing on her porch. She stepped across the threshold and stopped an arm's length away. She just stared at him for a moment before she swung her hand and landed a slap on his right cheek. He stumbled backward as the slap was powered with the emotions of Bonnie's newfound magic.
"Undo it!" She cried through her shiny green glare.
"Bonnie!" Caroline rushed in front of Bonnie protectively, but her petite friend stepped around her to face Damon. She was determined to defend her mother with all that she had.
"No Caroline, he needs to undo it!"
"No," Damon finally said, standing up straight.
"Are you fucking with me? She doesn't want me, Damon! Why would you compel her to be in my life when you know that's not what she chose?" Bonnie demanded.
"You need her,"
"The hell I do!"
"And most of all she needs you." He continued as if she hadn't spoken.
"Oh, I get it. You're checking off your list of good deeds for Elena, aren't you? Think she'll welcome you with open arms again if you finally do something selfless for once?"
"Maybe," he inched closer to the little witch. "It's because of Elena. Maybe I just wanted to find the loophole with Elijah's compulsion. Or maybe, just maybe, I saw a girl and her mother who need each other but are too fucking stubborn and judgey to admit it, so I took matters into my own hands. It doesn't matter Bonnie, it's done and it's up to you now, if you want your mother in your life. Or you can just have your Original Psycho compel her to go away."
Damon looked her up and down with his wild sapphire spheres, before turning away and walking off the porch. Bonnie was shook. She didn't want to manipulate her own mother anymore than anyone had already done that week. At the same time, she didn't want to force her to stay when she knew what Abby would have preferred. To run, like always to avoid the situation instead of facing it. She'd even had an opportunity to reconnect with Abby but still, she left. Bonnie also suspected the only reason Abby invited her to leave town together was to continue running. And Bonnie was no runner. She had a mission and she had vermin to kill.
"You can't just compel people's major life decisions!" she yelled to Damon, who glanced at her, then zipped away.
"It's not true," Caroline said as Bonnie stared at the space Damon had previously occupied. "You said Abby doesn't want you. It's not true."
"How do you…"
Caroline tapped her ears. "Kol compelled the truth out of her. She only left because she didn't think she would be able to protect you when she lost her magic. And she thinks you hate her so she wanted to give you your space."
Bonnie guffawed and started laughing with tears trailing down the apples of her cheeks. Caroline would not lead her on, Abby truly did want a relationship with her daughter and it took the sleuthing skills of Damon and Kol for Bonnie to finally realize that. Kol was working on cementing his presence in her life for sure but Damon had planted a seed. The seed of what she wasn't sure but she didn't think she could ever hate him again. He saved her mom who actually wanted to be a mother and Bonnie no longer held any consternation over how he'd achieved that feat.
"Should I give her my blood?" The girls squealed and rushed back upstairs.
"I'll feed you my blood, Abby, and that'll complete your transition." Bonnie announced.
"And then I'll heal Bonnie-"
"She's already had my blood earlier this evening." Kol interrupted Caroline. "Too much variation of vampire blood in her system could affect her ability to harness expression. Accompany me, darling."
Kol led Bonnie downstairs, explaining that watching Bonnie expelling her blood in front of a newborn vampire would render her savage due to pure instinct. Bonnie pulled out a glass from the cabinet and a knife from a drawer. She held it to her hand, ready to slice.
"Bonnie," he spoke softly. "If you want the dreams and visions to stop at every touch, you would have to let me consume your blood."
"Are you serious? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Bonnie held her hand out to Kol, having had enough of the mental invasion if she was being honest. She would focus much better if her mind wasn't clouded with erotic fantasies starring Kol Mikaelson, whom she had to work closely with to save her little town.
"It will bond us. An attachment so strong, I'll always be able to locate you and sense your emotions."
Bonnie slowly pulled her hand back. "Will that happen with me and Abby?"
"You'd each have to consume one another's blood. Our situation is unique due to our shared visions. But typically vampires who engage in blood sharing with humans do share a blood bond as long as the blood is exchanged within a significant time period. So to answer your unasked question, no Abby will not share a blood bond with Damon."
The young witch breathed a sigh of relief. "Why don't we just skip the blood exchange and do the spell you told me about?"
"That will only show you what it means, not stop the visions."
"Well fuck me sideways," Bonnie sighed. Kol raised a brow and closed the distance between them.
"As you wish, darling," he replied with quite the enthusiasm, waggling his brows.
"It's an expression, Kol." Bonnie shuddered as he reached for her hand.
"May I?"
"No! I- oh I," Bonnie was conflicted. She didn't want to cement a blood bond leash, and she no longer suffered from the visions, at least she didn't until she saw the alarming state Abby was in. Moral Bonnie and Witch Bonnie were facing an internal struggle. She decided then that she wouldn't count on the visions to sway her, sure maybe she could have a thing with Kol but she didn't have to be tethered to him forever. Moral Bonnie reasoned that being able to better focus without these infractions getting in the way was more important than whatever magical destiny was brewing between them.
Additionally, Bonnie knew Kol was still hit with the visions every time he touched her. It tormented her each time it happened and she imagined it was the same with him.
"Will I be able to sense and find you?"
Kol nodded. "The bond will always be strongest in the hours after the most immediate blood exchange, but we'll always be able to sense each other."
"Fine, just this once. " She said, unknowingly sealing her fate.
"Are you certain?"
"Yes," she affirmed. Bonnie watched as Kol slowly lifted her wrist to his lips. His vampire face formed over his features and he bit gently into her wrist. Bonnie gasped at the piercing of his fangs and her chest heaving heavily. Kol gave a low moan as he sucked, then he growled as he removed her hand and placed it over the glass, applying gentle pressure to squeeze out some blood. He pushed a finger on his fangs until the skin broke and used the welling blood to rub onto the holes in Bonnie's wrist. His face returned to human and he sighed.
"Let's go make a vampire," Kol mused.
After feeding Abby the blood, she left with Caroline to start her vampire life acclimation. Kol had to leave as well, he explained that they both needed to come down from the blood exchange. Her witch blood would amplify the effects which would begin with irrepressible arousal, followed by an overwhelming need to be near each other for a few hours.
"You mean you won't be able to resist me?"
"That's not been easy since our first encounter. Magnify that tenfold and you'd discover yourself at the mercy of a beast. You wouldn't be able to refuse me either. Better you sleep it off so I'm not driven to claim the innocence you still carry." He tapped her nose lightly. Bonnie felt the blush burning her cheeks as Kol so casually referred to her virtue. She hid her face with her hair.
"Hey," Kol tilted her chin up. "No need to appear so mortified love. I knew it the moment I met you."
He looked over her in adoration for a moment.
"What?" Self-consciousness had taken over her frame of mind.
"Salvatore knows it too. Vampire senses," he added when Bonnie's eyes widened. "I'd get some sleep if I were you. Since you'll be in the equivalent of vampire heat, he'll be able to sense your arousal if he's near, not if you are sleeping at the moment. Why, if he were to take advantage of you in your delicate state, I'd save you the trouble of administering him another bitch slap and rip his heart out instead, thereby destroying all semblance of alliance with the Mystic Falls gang."
Bonnie wanted to ask why he would do such a thing but she figured it was a dumb question, being that she was talking to Kol Mikaelson.
"Does that mean Abby will be able to sense if I ever…"
"Correct, my dear. Unless you were to turn vampire before you ever got a chance. Technically, you'd remain virgin but you'd heal after each of our encounters." Kol grinned and cast a downward glance at his feet. He actually looked embarrassed! That was a first. "Forgive me. I don't want to seem presumptuous."
"No, go on. Since you know everything, please. Enlighten me on how I'm just dying to jump into bed with you." Bonnie goaded.
"I can wait, love." He narrowed his beady brown eyes at Bonnie. "Something I wouldn't do for just anyone."
"Until I'm ready, right?" She scowled. "I'm very old-fashioned, though."
"Saving yourself for marriage, are we?"
"What's wrong with that?" Bonnie snapped.
"Nothing," Kol sighed and took her face in his hands. He didn't wince or anything, now that they'd exchanged blood the visions no longer bombarded him. He just gazed, lost in her eyes. "You are adorably delightful, Bonnie and so incredibly beautiful."
He closed the space between them with his lips landing on hers. The kiss was firm and breathtaking. Something started building deep within Bonnie and her reservations began preparations for take-off.
"Whoa, Kol," Bonnie trembled at the knees, not noticing the subtle flash of his vampire face as Kol caught and held her firmly. "I'm feeling- I don't wanna wait… Kol…"
Kol straightened them both and donned a wide, mischievous smile. "Oh, but you must, love. You're saving yourself, remember?"
Bonnie heaved a breath of disbelief as she reached for Kol who sped away at Original speed. Bonnie stomped her foot, grasping the fact that Kol played her. He used her building arousal to goad her into admitting she wanted him. When she heard her windows crack, she rushed inside and grabbed some sleeping pills, swallowing them without water. She screamed into her pillow as she laid down.
Kol's POV
As much he wanted to stay and torment Bonnie a little longer, Kol had a brother to torment. Although he was serious about the uncontrollable urges, as much as it pained him as well, he thought the little witch ought to know what the sweet suffering of burning desire felt like for a short time. It would serve her right for trying to blow him off earlier, as if she could outrun their inevitable fate. Bonnie was surely in denial if she refused to believe there was something powerful brewing between them. Fortune smiled upon him in the moment he'd kissed her because his blood wasn't as fresh in her system as a few hours prior, it paved the path for him to freely take his leave, though he did feel the urges that were to come commencing.
Simply put, he wanted Bonnie badly but he didn't just want to bed her. Kol knew without question that if he stayed much longer, that is exactly what he would do that night, deflowering her immaculate design in the process. As lust driven as she may be to imagine she would offer such consent in that endeavor, Kol was no fool. She would no doubt regard him as taking advantage of the situation when she came to her senses. It would not matter that he employed no dominion over his self control, it would matter that he was in the vicinity, cognizant of the risk at hand. He would not risk losing her trust and further complicating their relationship. She may be his soulmate but he still had to put in his due diligence to ensure their future.
Upon arriving at the mansion, Kol found his remaining siblings all gathered in the ballroom.
"If you don't want to bear witness, you can leave!" Klaus chastised Rebekah for crying in the corner.
Kol was pleased to find that Klaus had already gotten to work on Elijah. He was tied up with vervain ropes in the center of the ballroom, beaten and bloodied. His daylight ring was also noticeably absent. Kol couldn't help but smile as he walked up to Elijah.
"Brother! Quite the day you've had, right? You look like you could use a drink." Kol picked up a pitcher full of vervain water and poured it down Elijah's throat. Elijah gagged and coughed as it singed his insides.
His cough turned into a laugh, puzzling Kol. "How much vervain has he ingested?"
"He's been shot up with four of these." Klaus waggled a syringe containing the transparent olive substance. "Damon brought the hunter's arsenal after he was compelled to kill him. It's a concentrated dose of vervain."
"You compelled the toddler vampire to kill the hunter?" Kol asked Elijah who just looked at him stone-faced. Then he donned a macabre smile, blood dripping from his lips.
"What if I did, Kol? It's done now," he mumbled, spitting out speckles of blood.
"That responsibility actually belongs to me." Klaus admitted. "But Elijah here has been beaten senseless and sustained my hybrid bite on top of the vervain doses. It's likely he's not certain of his current surroundings. He probably doesn't even remember his crime against our family."
"Well then let's review, brother! You tried to kill the Bennett witches, nearly signed all our death warrants as a result, and you broke our pact by going after the witches." Kol illustrated each point with a bone-crunching punch to Elijah's face. Bonnie's current frustration all the way from her house had begun to creep its way into his emotions so it felt good to relieve some tension, despite it being violence towards his own brother.
"Kol, that's enough!" Rebekah cried.
"I told you, GET OUT!" Klaus roared.
"Can't you two see that this is mad!"
"REBEKAH!" Klaus grabbed a dagger and dipped into the vial of white oak ash. He stalked up to Rebekah and pointed it towards her neck. "Leave us or join Elijah in the coffin."
"I'm going!" She snapped then she looked at Kol. "Thanks for defending your baby sister against this beast !"
"Weren't you just leaving, Bekah? Go on then. Don't let me distract you."
"I hate you!"
Rebekah sped out of the room. Kol didn't care, he would not succumb to her guilt trip over daggering Elijah. It needed to be done, he had implicated their survival enough.
Klaus brought over a small dropper of human blood. He clutched Elijah's cheeks, squeezing his mouth open, and administered one drop.
"I assume you're not done yet? Wouldn't want Elijah to fall unconscious before you get a proper chance at his comeuppance."
"Oh brother," Kol cracked his neck on both sides. "I'm just getting started."
Elijah chuckled and rolled his head up. "Never did I think I'd see the day when my brothers would be working together to subdue what they perceive as a threat. And yet, here it is upon me. Working together to subdue me, over a witch no less. It's spectacular."
Elijah appeared deep in thought for a moment. "Of course, I'll need to be free of my deathly slumber in time for the summit." Elijah gestured to a gold chain on his half-exposed chest.
"You intervened with witch business when you plotted to kill the witches when we're supposed to be working together! This is about survival, Elijah, what you're always on about! The witches can ensure our survival when she wields the power of expression, which you tried to prevent!" Klaus shouted at his elder brother.
Elijah closed his eyes. "I did what I felt was necessary to ensure our survival, brothers. Esther had a weapon against us and I merely meant to confiscate it."
"That wasn't at all necessary! The link to her magic was already severed! And you claim to be the noble one. If it wasn't for Finn playing the sacrificial lamb, I'd vote to replace you with him."
Elijah opened his eyes. "You have yourself to blame for that, Kol. If you and the witch you are so clearly enamored of had only been forthcoming with that information, I wouldn't have had to resort to such nefarious scheming, now would I? Speaking of schemes, did you know that your massacres nearly warranted an emergency summit? It was fortunate for all of us that Niklaus had the mind to dagger you when he did. You may not have had the opportunity to meet your precious witch."
Kol punched Elijah repeatedly until he knocked his head off. He would not be blamed for taking caution for his brother's predictable impulses. All in the name of survival. So sure.
"I think I'm ready to call it a night," Kol announced with a deep breath. He'd created a bloody mess of Elijah which sated his lust for a violent outlet. It also kept the urges at bay and he was sure Bonnie was asleep by now, not feeling her emotions anymore.
Klaus stared at Elijah's detached head as it and the body turned gray. "Is he going to be alright?"
"It will take a few hours, but a magnetic pull will force his head back to his body. If he was closer it would take less time. I sliced Finn's head off once. When we first arrived in England, that's why he buried me in the ground."
Klaus wore an amused expression. "And what drove you to behead him?"
"He took the sleeping chamber I wanted." Kol answered with nothing but apathy. He grabbed a towel to clean off his bloodied hands.
"This is no sibling squabble, Kol. This is personal. Why?"
Kol rolled his eyes. He wasn't in the mood to get into explanations, he needed to get some rest before his urges returned.
"So what if it is? What does it matter, Nik?"
"You've only known her a few weeks, I don't-"
"No, I haven't."
"What?" Klaus furrowed his brows.
"I've only met her three weeks ago, but I've known her for much longer."
Kol explained about the soulmate spell that Ayanna performed when he was still human and how his visions progressed up until this point. There was no mirth, no evidence of any indication that Kol was not telling the truth, Klaus had to believe him.
"Why did you never tell any of us?" The hybrid asked.
"You were too busy daggering anyone who didn't agree with you, Rebekah and Elijah were also busy following your every whim. You didn't care to listen, I didn't care to enlighten you."
"Show me the spell," Klaus demanded. Kol sighed. He should have kept his mouth shut.
After eating half of Caroline's miracle brownie, Bonnie got a text from Stefan that he was outside. Great, what do the vampires want now?
"Stefan, what's wrong? Did the circle work?"
"It's Damon. He's delirious; he tried to walk into the sun without his ring."
"Is it the hunter's curse?" Bonnie was confused.
"No, I think it's guilt," Stefan explained how the newly activated hunter, which happened to be Matt, took out thirteen vampires the previous night at the second point of the expression triangle.
"If Matt's a new hunter, why is Damon still delirious?
"He wants your forgiveness for turning Abby," he said solemnly. "He won't talk to me or Elena, he just keeps drinking and engaging in suicidal vampire thrills."
"I am grateful to him, Stefan, I am. But it doesn't undo all the damage he's done. If he wants my forgiveness, he can tell me himself and understand it's going to be a long road to earn it."
Just then, Kol appeared on the porch of Bonnie's home, glaring at Stefan and fixed his pupils in compulsion. "Leave us now ."
After Stefan zipped away, Bonnie opened her mouth to ask Kol why the hell he did that when suddenly her back was against the wall and his tongue was pushing through her lips. Sighing an audible moan, she gave in and lost herself to his kiss.
"I've wanted to do that for days." Kol exhaled when he was done. He leaned in and sniffed around her mouth. Bonnie pulled back.
"Then why have you been gone for three days? Where were you, I thought you were coming back?"
"Questioning my whereabouts already, love? I'm beginning to think you missed my company."
Bonnie scoffed and walked inside her home. She'd walked a few feet before Kol had flashed in front of her.
"Bonnie, I've warned you not to turn your back to me," he reminded her with menacing eyes.
Raising her chin in an act of defiance, Bonnie asked again, "Where were you?
"Admit it. You missed me because you want me-"
"It was the blood bond!"
"Just as much as I want you." Kol finished.
Bonnie shook her head, furiously. "I needed you, couldn't you feel me?"
"I did, love and it was torture. I couldn't come to you until the urges settled, they were far more powerful and lasted longer than I anticipated. I only intended to protect your virtue."
Bonnie could feel the weight of how remorseful he was that he had to stay away. She was truly impressed that he was exercising that much self-control. Before she realized it she had pushed him onto the couch and straddled Kol's lap. Their lips met, then their tongues, wrestling for dominance before Kol took full control of the kiss. He shifted his position so he hovered over Bonnie, laying her on her back. She began kissing his neck as he nibbled on her ear.
When Kol placed a hand on her bosom, it made her moan louder than she intended to, the sound of it eliciting an erection in Kol's jeans. Coupled with the aroma of her arousal and feeling her need for him, he was about to lose control. He pulled back but Bonnie clutched at him in an attempt to hold him close.
"Bonnie, you've made your point, however, you're testing the limits of my self-control," Kol stated in a gravelly voice. "If we don't stop..."
She looked at him with a lust-filled green gaze then exhaled deeply. "Okay," she nodded.
A puzzled expression marred his handsome face. He placed a thumb on Bonnie's belt buckle. "Yes? You want to?"
"No, I mean okay, we should stop!"
Kol's face fell as he sat up and ran a hand through his brown locks. "Right. Apologies, I misread that. There's only so much restraint I can exercise."
"It's good to utilize self-control though. It'll help you not go on killing sprees."
"Killing sprees are quite therapeutic when someone has wronged you. I consider it poetic justice."
Rolling her eyes, Bonnie sat as well and adjusted her clothing before she leaned back on the sofa. She was not going to get into this right now so she decided to change the subject.
"So how'd the sacrifices go?" Bonnie asked. She had been holed up in her house for three days as she waited for the effects of the blood bond to subside. She missed all the action of the vampire sacrifice.
"Successful. Kind of haunting, to be honest." Kol admitted, leaning back as well. He placed his arms across the back of the sofa behind Bonnie. "Thirteen vampires convened in the woods last eve at what they thought was a convention to destroy the hybrid. Nik, of course, wanted to torment them first but your friend Caroline wouldn't allow it and as a result, distracted him so the quarterback took his kill. Nik and the blonde have been at odds ever since."
Bonnie shifted uncomfortably at the mention of Klaus being at odds with Caroline. Just a few short weeks ago he was pulling out every trick in the book in an attempt to woo her, but lately he'd been spending a lot of time with Abby. Not to mention he flat out said he fancies her. She hoped it was just another crush he would get over the moment he finds himself at odds with her as he apparently did with Caroline. Bonnie mentally shook it off. It had to be. Klaus probably went through women the way Bonnie went through coffee and Abby wasn't even someone who would entertain Klaus.
"What was the haunting part?" She wondered.
"The quarterback turned hunter only had to kill one vampire. They were all linked from an ancient, now extinct witch coven."
"Oh my God. And it reminded you of Esther's plan to link you all?"
"Precisely."
"I'm sorry. It was hard enough having a mother who abandoned me but I can't imagine having a mother who wanted to kill me."
Kol gave her a soft smile and tucked a few loose tendrils away from Bonnie's face. "It's no fault of your own, no need to pity me, love. A thousand years I've spent killing and committing deplorable acts because I was separated from my magic that brought me peace. All because of what Esther's done to my siblings and me. Your presence alone brings me so much peace than I could ever hope for, I haven't the time to worry about my wicked witch of a mum."
Bonnie's face transformed into a wide grin and then she burst out laughing. "Wicked witch!"
Again, Kol looked puzzled and this time Bonnie found it even funnier. All sense of composure appeared to fail her in that moment. She laughed harder and fell into his lap, laughing against his stomach.
"Stop making that face!"
"I'm not doing anything! What's going on, darling?"
He sounded genuinely worried and had a look of panic in his eyes when Bonnie looked up at him. She clapped her hands over her mouth, the way a small child would when caught in the wrong.
"Oh no! I'm sorry, Kol. I'm okay,"
She uncovered her mouth and attempted to make a straight face. "See?"
"Are you certain?" Kol narrowed his eyes, studying her, which made her burst out laughing once more.
Kol's POV
"Nik, you must get Abby over here, something has happened to Bonnie and I've no idea how to help her! I fear it's the ancestors possessing her!"
"Keep your voice down, Abby's got sensitive hearing now. What's going on?"
"She's hysterical, I can't get her to cease her laughter. She'll settle for only a moment then resume as quickly as she stops. It's as if she suddenly became inebriated beyond control, only she's not stumbling."
Kol was pacing around Bonnie's living room on his cellphone while Bonnie was unable to move due to her fits of laughter immobilizing her.
"I am not drunk! You're drunk! Go home Kol, you're drunk!" Bonnie yelled in the background before doubling over in laughter again.
"Bloody hell. She's high Kol, I can't send Abby over to find her in such a state. Parents aren't fond of their teens partaking in recreational means of intoxication. Were herbs recently burned?"
Klaus described the distinct scent of cannabis in its multiple forms and Kol then remembered when he'd arrived at Bonnie's there was something along with her usual scent. He tracked the scent and found a half-eaten brownie with the herb-infused. He relayed that to his brother.
"Ahh, it was an edible. Get her a bite to eat and she'll likely require a nap. If that fails, give her your blood, or seduce her, either will work to sober her up. The witch sacrifice is tonight and she needs to be on top of her game if she's going to open the portal."
Kol was relieved to find out there was nothing actually wrong with Bonnie, she was merely intoxicated. Of all the remedies cannabis had, he had never partaken in using it recreationally, therefore not comprehending the effects.
Kol had food delivered and after Bonnie ate nearly everything, she was still loopy so Kol led her up to her bedroom, which took an extra half hour due to her constant distractions. First, she focused on a spot on the wall and asked Kol if he could see it from far away with his vampire vision. She made him stand at a further distance each time, asking if he could see it. Even with his vampire vision, it wasn't clear what Bonnie was actually referring to. He was uncertain if she was just fucking with him. She once again dissolved into a fit of laughter when Kol finally asked why they were staring at a wall for the past ten bloody minutes. She then insisted she needed to tell him something but she couldn't speak the words. She found a pen and paper and drew a heart and a lopsided happy face before the giggles came back. Kol confiscated the pen and paper.
"No that's not- That's not what I wanted to tell you," she pouted as he held the items out of her reach as she grasped at the air for them.
He was confounded and impressed all at once. He'd never witnessed Bonnie relishing in such joy. He'd never seen Bonnie have that much fun, much less have no care in the world. She was always on about protecting her dimwit friends and being roped into dangerous vampire business. He had the inkling to take her away from all this one day, and together they could forget the rest of the world. Maybe he'd partake in consuming cannabis too.
Her hysterics had diminished significantly after Kol took away her writing tools and she became bothered and petulant.
"You're going upstairs to sleep it off, love." was all he needed to say before Bonnie had an attitude adjustment. Her demeanor became very affectionate, pulling Kol into an array of hugs and sloppy kisses as he helped her up the stairs. When Kol laid her down in her bed, Bonnie kicked off her shoes and undid her belt. She shimmied out of her pants before she slid under the blanket, giving Kol a full view of her ass in her cheeky lavender panties. His mouth became parched at the sight and incited that familiar feeling of 'got to have her'. Then she reached her arms out to Kol.
"C'mere," she beckoned. In a flash Kol settled himself onto the bed with Bonnie, only he rested above the blanket. I can do this. His arm hooked around her waist from behind and he breathed in her hair. Lord, she smells absolutely splendid! Then another scent invaded his olfactory senses. Her arousal! She was fortunate she was his Bonnie, Kol would not stand for this sort of torment at the hands of another. But she was so innocent and pure, he couldn't treat her just like anyone. He had waited for her over a thousand years and he would put her best interest in the place of first priority.
"Kol!" Bonnie whispered loudly.
"Yes, darling?"
"I can't stop thinking about you."
He chuckled. "Of course you can't, darling. Why don't you tell me all about it? Start with how handsome I am."
To his delight, Bonnie was exceptionally receptive to his suggestion and proceeded to do just that. He was filled with glee over all the ammo she was giving him to tease her with later. She told him everything she felt from when they first met, even describing the sensational things she'd dreamed of until a few days prior when he'd removed his shirt for their spell practice.
"And all I could think was soo hot and buff and I didn't mean to light you on fire," Bonnie began to giggle again, then she turned to face him. "I just wanted to take your pain away, make it better."
"Kissing you definitely helped soothe the pain." Kol assured her. "I told you, you bring me peace. I wish with all my heart I could return the gesture."
"Your whole family brings chaos to my whole life." she murmured with a glossy look in her eyes.
"I know, love," Kol whispered as he stared into her eyes, mournfully. He caressed her hair and worked diligently to suppress the urge to kiss her, knowing full well where that would lead. But when Bonnie slipped out of the covers to once again straddle him in just her blouse and panties, what else could he do? Powered by an influx of rage and lust at the sweet torment of how hot this fire between them burned that needed to be extinguished in the worst way, he flipped her on her back in an instant and held her arms hostage above her head.
"Dammit, Bonnie. You've tried my patience for the last time today." He bared his fangs as the black veins began to writhe under his eyes.
