AN: Present traumas bring up past memories of Bonnie's time in New Orleans
In the past, in the small town of Riverdale, the sudden death of the high school music teacher and the disappearance of a popular student begins to raise questions as his friend's rally to clear his name.

So close to finding out how Bonnie ended up without her love in a prison world :O

***UPDATE: I added a lot here in some areas, mostly toward the beginning, about the thoughts that were weighing on Bonnie and Kai's mind. And there is a subtle character crossover that begins here, let me know if you've caught it!

*It should be noted that I do not own the characters from TVD or RD

Prison world

Mystic Falls 1994

Kai's POV

It had been eight weeks of a sick cat and mouse game with Bonnie. Or more like cat and possum, Kai thought. Every night, he would make his attempts to seduce her or get her to reveal where the ascendant was hidden, despite her claims it was shattered in pieces all over the world. She revealed that's what she actually did, in order to keep Kai from escaping. Every night she would clam up and induce herself into a magical temporary coma by unloading her magic unto Kai. All he could do to counter it was a healing spell to make sure Bonnie didn't overexert herself and end up dead. The spell healed Bonnie and slowly restored her magic after twelve hours unconscious, so Bonnie was magically useless to Kai during that time, he couldn't touch or siphon her, or she would expire. It was a vicious cycle.

Each time Bonnie came to, he punished her by pushing the limits of the proximity spell a little more. He was impressed by her determination and ability to stick to her guns, through the pain. Kai began to wonder if she started secretly enjoying the torment. It was cute at first but after those first three days, Bonnie being out cold half the time became a burdensome concept due to reminders of what it was like to be alone. It was getting old. He tried to be more strategic about his various assault methods, only to find the result was the same. She must have really loved Damon to keep her resolve. Not understanding the depths of that emotion, he vowed if he had ever had another opportunity, he'd end Damon. Not in front of Bonnie, of course, in fact, she needed to think he'd made an effort to save him. Her penchant for attempting to see the best in people like Damon would finally be extended to him. Once that happened, he would corrupt her innocence in every way possible.

Knowing he couldn't help nor extinguish the drive to want her in every way tormented him, almost as much, if not more than being stuck in a world of isolation for nearly two decades. He felt it as soon as they'd entered the prison world nearly six months ago. Bonnie didn't even have active use of her magic, it lay dormant. Yet he'd been able to feel the strength of it, her power swirling inside, yearning for sovereignty. Her presence alone stirred his appetite, her enchanting aura corroborated his longing for a union with the witch. Instincts told him the only way to sate that drive was to finally have Bonnie in a way he could behold her forever, yet things had gotten off to a rocky start. He was actually glad Damon was gone so he'd have time to actually get to really know Bonnie but her betrayal initially incited his rage, bringing out the worst in him, and he'd reacted accordingly. He had meant for things to go down differently.

Kai didn't figure he was completely out of the game, being that he had her in an empty world, all to himself. He knew he'd have to put in the work towards gaining her trust. He would loosen the reigns on the proximity spell, get her to realize he was actually a reasonable guy. It didn't matter that it wasn't true, it mattered that she believed it was true. Hopefully, she could come to believe in him.

Still, he was going to need to figure out a way around her magic unloading spell. He wasn't going to find that in Mystic Falls. He needed his family's grimoires.

Bonnie's POV

After a usual night of Kai attempting to get the ascendant from Bonnie, who insisted it was in pieces, scattered globally, Kai let Bonnie go into town on her own. He was still in the vicinity but he had given her more than five hundred feet of breathing room.

Taking a chance at her first reprieve from the siphon, Bonnie hot-wired a car attempted to drive to Whitmore College where she raided her Gram's office. When she realized she was able to get further away without a crushing pain in her gut, she sped the rest of the way, finally feeling liberated. It seemed Kai had let her go.

Within a few days, she'd made her way to New York, concluding her trip at a storage warehouse. Being away from Kai was so refreshing but it was also eerily quiet and lonely. Bonnie finally had time to think and allow herself to grieve the life she left behind, as well as hone in on some memories. Her magic, being fully intact with no interference from Kai was flowing generously through her veins and out of her fingertips with her heavy emotions. She scanned for magic before she entered the property.

Once inside, Bonnie let her magic guide her to the largest unit. Her magic also granted her entry into the locked unit and she stepped inside to see four coffins in the middle of the unit, along with dusty furniture, household items, and cobwebs coating everything in sight. After a quick spell was cast, everything was polished clean, as if brand new. She searched the unit until she came across a series of large framed paintings. Pulling one out, she leaned it against the coffin adorned with the Mikaelson's family crest as well the initial K.

Settling down cross-legged in front of the painting, Bonnie gazed at the portrait of Kol dressed in early 1900s garb. She choked back a sob because his was a face she hadn't set eyes upon in years and the guilt over it crushed down on her heart like a weight. The longer she looked at him, the more her emotions rose until they came spilling over the threshold of her resolve. All Bonnie could do was cry for the better part of twenty minutes. After releasing the burdensome emotions she carried, Bonnie enchanted the painting to appear as a television screen where she watched herself and Kol engage in a ballroom dance. They were both dressed in period clothes and she laughed through wet eyes as they carried on, seemingly having the time of her life.

After a week, Bonnie returned to Mystic Falls, with still no sign or sense of Kai. Part of her wanted to be overjoyed, another part of her was skeptical he was lurking somewhere nearby. But after almost two weeks without Kai, she decided it was time to dig up the ascendant. Of course, she didn't destroy it and scatter it all over the world, she wasn't insane. She needed Kai to believe that in case this opportunity ever presented itself, where he was gone and she'd have the time to do the spell herself. She waited long enough to make sure he wouldn't catch her slipping. On the thirteenth day, Bonnie decided it was time to get the hell out of there. Kai could be back any day and this was her chance to escape without him. She was taking it!

Bonnie checked conditions to make sure everything was as it had been since Kai left. With no sign of Kai, everything was in the clear and she went to the caves to do the spell. As she completed the spell and the portal opened up, Kai appeared out of thin air and grabbed her hand and the ascendant, effectively traveling with her through the portal.

Present-day of Mystic Falls 2013

Bonnie's POV

After a blinding light and landing in the woods of present-day Mystic Falls, Bonnie came to and saw Kai laying partly on her. She slowly tried to slide out from under him but he woke up at that moment, grabbing her arm to siphon her. Bonnie cried out in pain and began to feel weak.

When Kai was satisfied he let go and steadied Bonnie where she sat.

" Motus !" At that, rusty shackles wrapped around her wrists, muting her magic. This gave her a strange deja vu of her early days with Kol.

"Get these the hell off me!"

"Shut up," Kai hissed. "You're in no position to give me orders BonBon. No more martyring off your magic either. It's like I told you before Bonnie, you are mine!"

She smirked and mumbled something incoherent.

"What was that? I can't hear you over the fact that you're completely helpless now. It's a beautiful fucking thing!"

As Kai leaned in closer, Bonnie thrust her head forward and head-butted him as hard as she could.

"DAMOOOOOOOOOONNNN!"

Being in the woods near the Salvatores, Bonnie took a chance to scream her head off, hoping there was a friendly vampire face in the vicinity.

New Orleans 2010

Bonnie's POV

Damon had certainly given Bonnie an earful. He was equipped with lots of information that he should've given the gang before the witch's sacrifice. According to Damon, Katherine compelled the humans she thought were the next potential hunter, prior to being activated. It turned out to be Matt, who was compelled to sabotage the cure retrieval mission in order to deliver the cure to Katherine. Bonnie couldn't remember the details but what she and Damon could determine was that he'd tricked her into using an excessive amount of magic as a distraction and then they had to ditch the portal, which faltered due to the overuse of magic.

"I tailed her after she and Nadia split town, I knew she'd want the cure for something, I just don't know for what."

"Why didn't you say anything before?" Bonnie questioned. It didn't make sense why Damon wouldn't warn her about this. It affected her since that mission nearly cost Bonnie her life.

"Because you and everyone else were just so receptive to my 'helpful' methods?"

"Damon, this is my life we're talking about and you were so callous about it," she sighed, shaking her head. "You could have at least told me."

"I'm telling you now, Bonnie. Besides, I knew Abby and your Original would protect you. I was counting on it actually, while everyone was preoccupied with you and demanded I stay out of the way, I had time to track down Esther and Matt. And the new doppelganger," Damon gave her the side-eye.

Bonnie feigned shock. "There's another doppelganger?"

"Don't act stupid, Bonnie. Esther got to her before I did so she has everything she needs to take out the four Originals she's already collected the blood from."

Fear washed over Bonnie. "Is she…"

"Alive? Yes. For how much longer, I dunno. She's a thirteen-year-old delinquent who's probably looking at a career on Teen Mom ."

"Oh my God,"

"Who's now compelled to go straight and steer clear of all things that go bump in the night."

Whaaat? Damon, doing humanitarian work for the youth of America? "Ok, who are you and what have you done with the real Damon? Oh my God, did you switch bodies with Stefan?"

"Very funny witchy," Damon scoffed but he couldn't contain his smile. He kept his eyes on the road. "Ask me what you really want to ask," he raised a brow in Bonnie's direction.

"Why you're being so nice to me?"

"Nah you're going to be in a hell of a lot of trouble with your little boyfriend, and I'm staying out of that. Knowing that, I still roped you into my scheme, I don't consider that nice. You wanna know why I turned Abby?"

"Because you wanted to outwit Elijah's compulsion or be seen as selfless to Elena or something. No reason to indicate you actually give a shit about me or Abby, but you should know I'm grateful to have Abby in my life again." Damon gave a small nod of acknowledgment but remained silent. According to the map, they had two hours left until they reached Bourbon Street so Bonnie decided to take a nap.

While the young witch slumbered, her cellphone rang. Upon looking, Damon saw that it was Kol calling. He hit ignore and powered the phone off, before he turned the volume on the car stereo up.

Kol's POV

Bonnie's phone rang four times before it was forwarded to voicemail. Kol dialed the number again and this time it went straight to voicemail. "Love, please do not ignore my calls. I just want to know you are safe,"

After he ended the call he growled and flung his phone at the wall. One of Rebekah's groupie's was standing in the way and the phone ended up lodged in his throat. Rolling his eyes, he stepped over Rebekah's writhing body and headed to pull his phone out of the young man's throat. Immediately, blood splattered in multiple directions and the man fell to the ground gasping for a breath.

"Kol, you bloody idiot, heal him! He was to be mine tonight," Rebekah groaned, pulling out the leg of her chair that was lodged in her chest.

"I'll do no such thing, sister," he said as he attempted to wipe the blood off of his phone. Dammit, ruined. This made him even angrier at the man jerking on the floor beneath him. "You've conspired against me and likely sent my mate off to her death. I'll have to call an emergency summit if she meets her demise. Oh, will you just die already mate!"

Kol smashed his foot down on the groupie's head, crushing his skull. In an instant, his motions ceased. He sucked in a breath. It was almost satisfying, it had been a week since his last kill. He figured a little bloodshed was in order since Bonnie against his wishes willingly made the effort to put hundreds of miles of distance between them. Only when Bonnie was safe in his arms, home again, would the beast in him be quelled. Until then, anyone who crossed his path, he considered fair game.

"You reprehensible wanker!" Rebekah shouted, spitting out blood. "You've got blood all over my ancient Persian rug!"

"You'll curb your vile tongue if you wish to join me on a tour across the states," Kol said with a raise of his brow. "Or I can leave you here, impaled against the wall. The choice is yours, dear sister."

Rebekah strumbled to her feet. "And what of your precious witch? And Nik?"

"Abby will keep Nik busy and my beloved is, unfortunately, going to learn the hard way,"

"I'm in. She'll be entirely miffed with you. I'm going to enjoy watching this blow up in your face," she sneered in his face. "and when it does, you're going to replace my rug with something twice as valuable!"

Rebekah raised her voice at the end of her stipulation, while Kol pretended he didn't hear her. "We're all probably going to die or the witch will. What lesson do you think you can really teach her?"

"Come now, sister, we won't be felled without a proper fight! Not a chance. But Bonnie will learn it's better to remain at my side," he confessed, having no way of knowing how true those famous last words would ring. "Clean yourself up, we've got a private jet to catch."

New Orleans 2010

Bonnie's POV

Damon opened the passenger door and used vampire speed to catch Bonnie, who in her sleepy state nearly fell out of the car.

"Wake up Mighty Mouse. Welcome to Bourbon Street," Damon took Bonnie's hand and led her around the corner to a street that was crowded with people, music, and lighting.

"Whoa, what's the occasion?" she asked in awe, taking in the scenery.

"Tuesday," Damon surmised.

Bonnie realized her hand was still in Damon's and she snatched it away. "Calm down, I only bite with your written consent."

She frowned.

"What, I've changed, since our early days together."

She just gave him a wary side-eye as she followed him into the crowd. "You got his scent?"

"Unfortunately,"

Damon compelled two drinks from a passerby and offered one to Bonnie, who declined. He shrugged and chugged them both down, throwing the cups into the street after. "It'll be quicker to check the local tourist attractions and see if anyone has seen him around. We could ask about Katherine and her devil spawn but if anyone's seen them, they're probably compelled into forgetting it."

"I can't go in there,"

"You're with me. Don't worry about that," Damon winked as he led her into a bar. A bouncer checked them two feet into the door.

"I need to see some ID," he said as he held his hand out.

Widening his eyes in compulsion, Damon shook his head. "No, you don't."

"Are you going to compel everyone we encounter?" Bonnie asked sharply as they walked around the security guard.

"Everyone who's necessary."

Bonnie and Damon walked up to the semi-empty bar and Bonnie smiled at the blond bartender.

"Bourbon, on the rocks and a gin and tonic," Damon called as they walked up.

"Coming right up. You all are from out of town, aren't you?" the blond asked as she prepared the drinks.

"That obvious, huh?" Damon grinned at her.

"You just look like you're looking for something, most people from out of town do."

"We are looking for a room for the night. I'm sure you know the best spot for tourists?"

"That would be the Bourbon on Orleans St. You'll have the best luck with early bookings, otherwise you'll be referred to the Holidae Inn." The bartender slid the drinks to them and Damon handed her a credit card. He looked at her nametag. "Thank you Camille, you've been very forthcoming."

"No problem," Camille smiled but she looked at Bonnie warily, likely suspecting her of being underage. Bonnie quickly downed her drink.

The blue-eyed vamp stood up, reclaiming his card and gestured to Bonnie. "Let's hit it, kid!"

They went to scope out the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. Bonnie remembered to turn on her phone and when she finally did, an onslaught of missed calls and text messages from everyone in Mystic Falls had her phone blowing up for about five whole minutes. She decided to reply only to Rebekah, asking if everything was ok with Kol, not noticing she had missed notifications from him too. Relief flowed through her core when the blonde Original replied that everything was going according to plan.

About half an hour had passed by with Bonnie and Damon sitting in his car across the street before they witnessed Matt walking up to the front entrance. In a flash, Damon retrieved him and shoved him against the side of his car before Bonnie had even opened her passenger door.

"Where's the cure, Donovan?" he hissed. Bonnie ran to the side of the car.

"Let him go!" she yelled.

"Not until he gives up the cure,"

"I don't have it, Damon," Matt said through gritted teeth.

"Did you give it to Katherine? We know she compelled you before you were activated as a hunter." Bonnie asked.

"I don't remember Bon, something about a bargaining chip."

Bonnie and Damon exchanged glances. Damon loosened his grip on Matt. "Oh my God," she said, piecing the likeliest theory together. "That's why Katherine left. The cure is her bargaining chip. Her survival method! If she cures herself her human blood can be used for Esther's spell and take out the Originals. But Katherine's life will be saved, to live out the rest of her human years,"

"Esther's already got doppelgänger blood," Damon pointed out.

"Right, but she doesn't have Kol's blood. Katherine's blood is probably going to be the back up if she decides to do the spell before she gets Kol's blood. Making the cure her bargaining chip."

"That bitch is always looking out for herself," Damon grumbled, shaking his head. "Well, what's she waiting for? Shouldn't she have done the damn thing already?"

The little witch stepped a few feet away from the car and looked up at the sky, the moon was in its newest phase. "The next full moon, probably. Esther will need to harness more magic since she's been cut off from mine."

"And Katherine is probably making her rounds, compelling humans to do her bidding for when she's finally human. Bitch has too many enemies to even be considered safe as a human, if you ask me."

"What I don't get is how Esther was able to resurrect after I killed her," Bonnie pondered.

"We've got a theory," an all too familiar British female voice said from behind her, causing her to freeze.

"But first, a word with you in private, little witch," at the undeniable sound of Kol's voice, Bonnie spun around to see Kol and Rebekah standing before her. Before she could say anything, before her heart could even drop at the prospect of being caught at what Kol would undoubtedly see as a betrayal, all three vampires rushed into action at top speed. Rebekah pinned Damon against the car as he rushed toward Bonnie, who was grabbed by Kol. He sped out of sight with her.

Kol kept up his speed until they stopped in an elevator inside the Bourbon Hotel. There was a young couple locked in an embrace inside the elevator, one of who startled at Kol and Bonnie's sudden presence. Kol growled at them.

"Get out!" he snarled, full vampire visage on display. Terrified, the women shrieked and ran from the elevator, while the lights flickered and one burst. Kol pressed the designated floor number and turned his head to look down at Bonnie through half lids. His vampire form faded, much slower than usual. When his face was fully human, his eyes seemed to glow a pearly hue as he watched Bonnie.

She couldn't recall a time seeing Kol look as furious as he did in that moment, while he silently watched her. As Bonnie's heart raced, she could feel the rage and hurt that emanated from her vampire. He'd never been so upset with her before and it was frightening, so much that her eyes were transfixed on his, wondering what his next move would be. She didn't think he'd hurt her, yet he had murder in his eyes. Finally, the elevator dinged and the door opened. In a flash, Kol was guiding her into a room in the hotel hallway.

He closed and locked the door and ordered Bonnie to sit as he threw his jacket and keys onto a table near the entryway.

The pictures on the wall and the window began to rattle as the lights began to flicker. Bonnie's nerves were fried due to the tension between her and Kol, made it worse by the fact that he had not spoken a word to her, other than demanding she sit.

"I don't wanna sit! Kol, you're being all angry and silent. You're scaring me-"

In an instant, Bonnie found herself seated on the bed and there were rusty chains locked on her hands. The state of the room ceased to tremble and the lights stopped flickering. "What the fuck! Did you just block my magic?"

Kol didn't answer, instead, he removed his shirt, which Bonnie now realized was splattered with blood. The sight of that made Bonnie's chest heave in despair. "You killed someone."

"A lot of people, actually," he stated flatly.

"Because you were upset with me?"

"Quite livid to be precise. But yes, that is correct," he disappeared into the bathroom.

"What kind of psychopathic logic is that, Kol? You can't just do shit like that! This isn't normal behavior!" Kol didn't respond. Bonnie threw herself back on the bed and kicked her feet in frustration.

After a few minutes, the door opened and Kol said, "What's abnormal, little love, is you thinking you can run off with Salvatore of all people, against my wishes. The sod lusts for anyone unattainable, including you. I should kill him next."

"Really, Kol this is the thanks we get for trying to save your life?"

"We can find another way. You can't do this, Bonnie, willingly placing yourself in great danger. You absolutely cannot. Do you not remember what I've told you?"

Bonnie sat up. "We were trying to stop Esther, she has the doppelgänger blood! It's just a matter of time, I didn't want you involved. And you don't have to worry about him, I'm with you and he knows that. Everyone knows that!"

Kol crouched down in front of Bonnie, burying his face in her lap. He was scrubbed clean, devoid of any leftover traces of blood and the scent of very expensive cologne wafted into Bonnie's nostrils. "Let me worry about the responsibility of preserving my life, love. It's not on you,"

Bonnie rolled her eyes and stroked his hair until he finally looked up at her. The glow in his eyes had dissipated, and she could feel his manic state of mind had relaxed into serenity.

"Have we met? I'm the witch that cares about you and the only one capable of making sure you survive. The thought of losing you- I can't stand it, and I can do something about it."

"And I'm the immortal vampire who cares for his witch. I care for you deeply, Bonnie. Whatever is done, we must do it together."

"You're not sorry at all, are you? Innocent people died because you were angry with me!"

"Are you? Do you feel remorse for the fact that you went headfirst into danger?"

"I was trying to protect you," she whispered.

"As was I. I can't help it darling, there will be no mercy for anyone standing between you and I. And I will not apologize, for my loyalty knows no bounds where you're concerned. You have yet to understand the depth of my emotions," In a swift motion, Kol pulled off her shorts, causing her to fall onto her back. "Perhaps after tonight, you will,"

The look in his eyes went from calm while he lounged in her lap, to lustful and heated when he removed her shorts. His eyes began to glow again, this time with desire instead of anger. Bonnie laid there, gazing up at him. "What are you doing?" she asked softly.

"Your whims have made clear that a lesson in loyalty is in order," he replied just as softly as he pushed her legs apart.

Riverdale 2010

The start of Senior year

He loved her, he couldn't help it. As Archie leaned against the door of Ms. Grundy's home, he heard a loud noise inside. Startled, he pounded on the door.

"Ms. Grundy? Is everything ok?"

No answer. He tried again, knocking louder to no avail. Archie peered in the window and caught a glimpse of Ms. Grundy's feet, lying on the floor.

"Shit!" he grabbed a brick and threw it into her window, sticking his hands through to pry the window open after it shattered. Once inside, he could see that without a doubt, Ms. Grundy, the first woman he'd ever loved was dead. She lay on the floor with her eyes opened but devoid of life. Archie ran to the backdoor and saw that the kitchen door was open. He scoped the perimeter of the yard around the house but found no trace of anyone.

Returning to the living room where Grundy's lifeless body laid, he sank to the ground next to her and stroked her hair. He pulled out his phone when the room began to glow bright red. The luminescence was so bright, he had to shield his eyes. When he opened them there was a woman standing before him. She had bright red hair with a long and flowing asymmetrical dress in the same hue as her hair.

Maybe it was the shock of finding his lover dead or the fact that he'd just witnessed her appear out of a light beam and he knew he wasn't high, but rather than freak, Archie glared at her. The fact that she appeared at such a convenient time rendered the mysterious woman guilty in his eyes.

"Why her?" he asked, coldly.

"Archie, you think I did this?"

"She'd dead and you just happened to show up. Who the hell are you?" he sniffed the air around him. "Why do you smell so good?"

The red-haired woman laughed. "Sacrifices needed to be made. Come with me, and I'll tell you everything you need to know."

"Are you going to kill me?"

"Archie, you have a calling. You are destined for greatness, but you won't reach your full potential if you don't come with me."

He just hesitated, shooting a glance at where Ms. Grundy lay.

"Law enforcement is already on the way. There'll be no way you can escape the murder charge." she reached out her hand. "Come with me, child. And you can see your beloved Geraldine one last time,"

A silent tear slipped from his eyelid. Reluctantly, he took her hand and together they disappeared into a glowing light.

Two weeks later

Betty's POV

This was hard to do. Betty had loved Archie for years and now he was missing as of two weeks ago and the main suspect in the murder of Ms. Grundy. She couldn't help the fact that she loved him, but more than that, she knew him (at least she thought she did before the whole music teacher affair) and Archie would never harm anyone. She was determined to prove his innocence.

"Thank you all for being here," Betty addressed Jughead, Toni, Cheryl, Kevin, and Veronica.

"Of course, Betty. Archie saved my life when my days slipped into the dark abyss of despair. I'm now indebted to him and I plan on doing anything I can to repay his noble act of fortitude." Cheryl declared in her chipper cadence.

Toni rolled her eyes at her announcement.

"And I don't believe for one minute that Archie is capable of murder," Kevin added.

"Neither do I, but still his disappearance begs the question, why is he running?" Jughead queried. "Nothing about this situation is pointing to his innocence, it doesn't make sense."

"We don't know that he's running, Jughead," Betty countered. "But we need to find something, anything, to give him credibility. At the very least, he might be implicated somehow," Betty's face fell as she couldn't help but think of the worst. It was possible that if Ms. Grundy was dead and Archie was missing, him being innocent could mean that he too was-

"No, Bee," Veronica said. "Don't say it, don't even think it. Archie is fine, he is innocent, and we're going to find him." She rubbed her friend's shoulder.

"Thanks, Vee. Kevin, what can you tell us about the implicating evidence your dad has on Archie?"

"Bee, you know I can't," he said, shifting uncomfortably.

"Well, I can," Toni said, pulling out a file. Betty was grateful for Toni's loyalty to Jughead because with Jughead and Toni, the Serpents would have their back as well. That was the way loyalty worked in that gang, they had each other's back in an all-or-nothing fashion. Even going out of their way to help out a kid from the north side.

"Toni, that's illegal!"

"So is framing Archie, right?" Toni looked around, waiting for anyone to argue. "If we can prove his innocence, this shouldn't matter in the long run."

Kevin sighed. "Ok, what have you got?"

Betty squealed and thanked Kevin.

Mystic Falls 2013

Out in the real world

Caroline's POV

"He's my best friend, Elena. I don't want to complicate things, you know?" Caroline said as they were walking through the forest. Bonnie had been gone six months and Caroline had a weekly tradition of going to a gravesite she'd assembled for her fallen friend. She was still working with the twins to try to get Bonnie out of the prison world but so far nothing had worked as the twins weren't fully cooperating, since it was their psychotic brother they risked pulling out of the prison world with her.

Caroline was referring to the budding relationship with Stefan. As much as she said she didn't want to complicate things, that was already underway. Stefan was the vampire who had been there for her in her early days of being a vampire, who taught her self-control. He gave her the confidence she needed to survive her newborn days. He also was the only person who could bring her back from her loss of humanity, when he revealed he was in love with her. He even saved the goodbye letter her mom had written before she passed.

Still, Caroline had been awkward since Stefan had admitted his feelings. He was her best friend's ex-boyfriend and she knew how much they loved each other, a few years ago. They all still hung out and she was afraid of the dynamic changing. Most of all, she was afraid that even if she and Stefan truly did admit their feelings it wouldn't last. Everyone saw how deep the love was between him and Elena and when it was over, Caroline felt the pain of it herself. Having lost Tyler to his obsession with revenge on Klaus, her childhood friend, and most recently her mother, the young blond vampire didn't think she could deal with another heartbreak anytime soon.

"And that's completely understandable, Care. But you know you can't help who you fall in love with."

"Or out of love?" Caroline stopped walking and turned to look at Elena, her face in morose anticipation.

"That's what this is about? You're afraid you won't last with Stefan. Caroline, don't let-"

Elena was interrupted by a high-pitched scream.

"DAMOOOOOOOOOONNNN!"

Both vampires snapped to attention. "Bonnie?" Caroline mouthed. She and Elena sped in the direction the sound was coming from and witnessed that it was indeed Bonnie being accosted by a dark-haired male.

"The siphon!" Caroline mouthed. As quietly as she could, she called on the Salvatores for backup.

Bonnie's POV

Noting that Bonnie was scrambling to get up after her holler, Kai pulled on her arm sharply and she fell back to the ground.

"So you like it rough? Why didn't you say so?" Locking his hands around Bonnie's throat, he slammed her into the ground a few times. She cried out in pain as his fingers glided down her chest to dig his fingers into her nearly healed arrow wound.

"Ahhh!"

Bonnie whimpered as he pinned her arms at her sides with magic and his eyes bore into hers, something dark and evil, inhumane even. Every time Bonnie fought back he became more aggressive with her. He really believed he could possess her and claim her if he could beat her into submission. If he could break her she would no doubt bend to his will. She squeezed her eyes shut. She was determined to fight back with every ounce of strength and love for Kol she had, even if it killed her.

He reached for the space between her legs and gripped the mound between her legs aggressively. She squirmed and let out a frustrated moan.

"Look at me, Bonnie," he ordered, his eyes were black with heat, his breathing shallowed. When Bonnie didn't comply, Kai gripped her chin and whispered, "Don't make me use magic, baby,"

Her eyes popped open and as Kai leaned in to kiss her. He gripped her center so hard that she gasped in response and he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, although Bonnie wasn't reacting. She thought to bite his tongue so hard it came off but what Kai would do to retaliate, she didn't know, his increasing aggression anytime she retaliated at the forefront of her mind. As Bonnie laid there she wondered how she got into this situation in the first place. All she wanted to do was find a way to get rid of Esther and be happy with Kol.

Baby. Pfft. She wasn't baby, at least not to Kai. She was Kol's love. Yet here she was, the most powerful witch Mystic Falls had ever seen, in her most vulnerable state. Everything she ever did was to protect her loved ones. She started practicing magic to help Elena out, then keep her safe from Katherine and defeat Klaus. She was enlisted in the plot to kill the Originals until she fell for Kol. She'd been through hell and back with the cure as well as being the anchor. She felt every supernatural death, many times a day. She brought Alaric back because she knew Elena and Damon needed him. She'd sacrificed so much for the people she loved and in that very moment, it felt like that was all for naught.

The whole reason she couldn't be with Kol in the first place was to protect him from Esther's ongoing plot to kill her offspring. So she left, cloaking herself from him and cloaking them both against Esther so she wouldn't be able to use them against each other. All she wanted was to turn back time and make it so she never had to leave him. Bonnie wanted so badly to be with Kol. But now she felt tainted. She was Kol's and she was about to be defiled. She was about ready to give up. For the first time in almost three years, the shield cloaking her from Kol faltered. Kai was destroying her resolve. She felt Kol and she knew he felt her too. She knew it wouldn't be long now before he was back in Mystic Falls.

Was this nature's way of tormenting her for falling in love with an Original Vampire that she was supposed to kill? She couldn't help what fate had planned, their souls were literally bound before they even existed. Yet, she had to remain undetected by Esther until she no longer had access to Bonnie's power or she'd use Bonnie to kill Kol and the rest of the Originals.

"You feel so amazing Bon," Kai said breathlessly. "This thing between us; why don't you just admit that you want me. You like what I do to you. You wouldn't have reacted that way if it wasn't true."

"When I get my magic back, I'm going to skin you alive and burn your insides." Bonnie bore into him with icy green eyes that glowed.

"I love it when you talk dirty to me," Kai murmured, watching through her half-lidded eyes. "What else do you wanna do to me?" Her threat seemed to make him all the more anxious to have her. Bonnie squeezed her eyes shut when suddenly he was gone in a whoosh of wind. Bonnie opened her eyes and sat up, smoothing her shirt out.

"So you kill your entire family and you get off on raping women? I'm going to enjoy ripping your fucking head off." She heard Damon saying. Damon ! Her heart fluttered with relief.

A blur went by and Caroline was at Bonnie's side helping her up, then Stefan appeared too.

"Oh my God, Bonnie! I've got you, you're ok!" Caroline was saying. Bonnie threw arms over Caroline's head because the shackles were still in the way and squeezed Caroline.

"Caroline!" Bonnie cried. She looked over at Damon, who was strangling Kai against a tree. "We have to get Damon! He's a siphon!"

"I know," Caroline said, still in Bonnie's arms. She pulled back and mouthed the words "We have a plan!"

Kai was somehow managing to wear a stupid smirk on his face as Damon continued to mount pressure on his windpipe.

"What's with the stupid smile?" Damon demanded. He choked him a little more before he loosened his grip so Kai could answer.

"I just had a taste of heaven, Damon," he choked out. "Something you'll never be able to do. But go ahead, kill me. I'll die a happy man."

Kai widened that shit-eating grin.

"Not when I get done with you!" Damon's eyes went all crazy like they do when he's feeling murderous and he flung Kai at another tree a few yards away.

Kai groaned and rolled over, getting up slowly but then the honey-haired vampire appeared next to him.

"Hey man, let me help you," the vampire said as he plunged his hand into his chest, gripping his heart and starting to squeeze.

"Stefan, no. This one's mine." Damon called as he stalked towards them.

"Oh Steven, the brooding brother!" Kai coughed a chuckle out. "I've heard so much about you. I gotta say, I'm not impressed, man."

"Shut up. You're a disgrace to humanity and Bonnie doesn't deserve whatever you've done to her. You're going to die today."

"If you insist, Steve. But, can I just say one thing?"

Kai suddenly gripped Stefan's arm and began siphoning, Stefan desiccating as a result. He loosened his grip on Kai's heart and started falling to the floor.

Damon flashed forward but Kai threw a motus at him and he flew backward. Kai then disappeared into thin air.

"Stefan!" Caroline cried and moved towards him but Bonnie wouldn't release her from her grip.

"No, no, no, please don't leave me Caroline. Don't leave me." She looked around anxiously, knowing Kai could pop up anywhere.

"Come with me then."

Together they went to check on Stefan. Damon came up to them and reached for Bonnie. "I got her, Blondie. Come here, Bon."

Bonnie lifted her arms above Caroline's head and let Damon pull her into his arms. Caroline tended to Stefan.

"Damon," Bonnie sobbed as he squeezed her.

"It's ok. I got you."

"It's not ok Bonnie." Kai appeared again a few feet away. "In case no one got the memo, Bonnie's coming with me. We're leaving now."

He held his hand out forward with a motus and Bonnie started being pulled towards Kai.

"Damon!" Bonnie screamed, gripping his arms. Damon did his best to hold her tightly to him.

Suddenly Kai's face froze and he fell forward. Elena was standing behind him, holding his heart. "Looks like you're the only one leaving, you piece of shit!" She tossed his heart to the ground.

"Elena!" Bonnie cried. Elena ran up to Bonnie and glowered at Damon.

"Can I give my best friend a hug?" Elena asked, peeling Bonnie out of his arms.

"It's ok Damon," Bonnie assured Damon. He scoffed and walked off to see Stefan and Caroline, griping about how he would've given Kai the death he deserved.

"Bonnie," Elena said and they just held each other and cried. Caroline came up to join them in a group hug.

"Let's get out of here, please," Bonnie said. "I need to rest so I can recover my magic. My shield from Kol fell and I need to put it up again. He'll be here soon if I don't."

"You felt him?" Caroline asked.

Bonnie nodded.

"And he felt you too. He'll be here either way." Elena surmised.

"So the Original Psycho is going to come anyway to see if he can break us for your whereabouts." Damon walked up again. Bonnie didn't say anything, just looked at Damon, imploring him with her eyes to understand.

"Let's get you home." He said with a sigh.

Kol's POV

On the complete opposite side of the world in Australia, Kol was jolted awake in the middle of the night, having felt Bonnie for the first time in two years. She had a cloaking spell but it wavered for a second and he could sense her again. It was brief but it was intense. It could mean she's in some kind of trouble. It couldn't be with Esther because he was tailing her. He needed to go see his witch. He knew Bonnie didn't think it was safe until Esther was no longer a threat, but he didn't care. It had been too long since he saw his other half and this martyr complex Bonnie had going was driving him mad.

Now that he felt her, he had to go to her. Something was going on and he had to be there for his little love. He hoped it would be the last time he would be reunited with her before they needed to be apart again. He hated being apart from her, ever since he found her. This time, he would claim her and she would take her rightful place at his side, as his mate, forever.

He called the front desk of the five-star hotel he was currently staying in.

"Yes Mr. Mikaelson, how can I help you this morning?" The receptionists answered.

"Allie, darling, I need the private jet prepared for a route to Richmond, Virginia."

"Sure thing Mr. Mikaelson, and when would you like to depart?"

"Set the departure time for tomorrow at noon. And Allie, send Brenda up with my meal. Immediately."

"Right away Mr. Mikaelson sir. I'll send her up."

"Thank you, Allie."

Kol disconnected the line and went to his grimoire selection in his living room of the suite. He began thumbing through a specific section about cloaking spells. Approximately 15 minutes later, a knock at his door interrupted.

"Room service!" A woman's voice called.

He answered the door and a woman rolled a cart loaded with luxury dining breakfast into the room.

"Here's your meal Mr. Mikaelson, just the way you like it pre-"

She was cut off by Kol's fang sinking into her neck, onyx veins swirling beneath the eyes of the beast that was Kol. She didn't scream, she knew not to as she was compelled. When she was released, she cleaned herself up and fixed her scarf over her bites.

AN: What's going on in Riverdale? And what does it have to do with the Mystic Falls gang? We shall see as worlds begin to collide.

*I should note that for the most part, I'm bringing Riverdale characters into the TVD universe so the story is largely TVD with a TEENY bit of Riverdale. Also, the timeline in Riverdale is skewed to align with the Mystic Falls timeline because that's how it fits my story best. If you've been following along since chapter 1, I hope you don't hate it!

**I love Bee & Vee and I shipped Betty with Archie so hard, and it's a no for me that Veronica & Archie became a thing. So there's none of that here but we've got Choni!

***Also, I didn't have the most time to edit it. I'll hunt down any errors in continuity or grammar as I read it back, I was just anxious to get this out, but I shall take my time with the next update :)

**** I'm back with more updates, it's taken me some time but I was going over past chapters and some of it had me like wow this is kinda raunchy because of typos or continuity errors or whatevaaa. and I wanted to clean all that up before I continue. The next chapter is undergoing refining but it will be up soon! I hope you all enjoy the updates.

I deeply appreciate everyone who's been so supportive of me continuing this story; Special shoutout to Broken_muse, the world needs more You's :)
