Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, Blaze and her team infiltrated Scarecrow's operation in Slaughter Swamp. And despite getting hit with Scarecrow's modified Fear Toxin, causing her to see Dragnarok's death and subsequent replacement by Darkblood, again, Blaze and company managed to at least derail a portion of the shipment going out with unseen help from Swamp Thing. But one thing that stands out, they managed to capture Deadshot. So, will the assassin be able to tell the Legion anything regarding what Brainiac wants with the Fear Toxin? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes in one of the side rooms of Legion HQ, where Deadshot sits, handcuffed to a chair as Blaze, Blitz, Supergirl, and Flash watch him from the other side of one way glass.)

Flash: I'll admit, catching Deadshot is pretty impressive. Getting him to talk is going to be another story, though.

Blaze: I'm taking your word for that, Barry.

Supergirl: So, what's the plan?

Blaze: I'm not sure. Deadshot seemed to be a little more panicky in Slaughter Swamp.

Blitz: Just didn't want to run into Solomon Grundy?

Blaze: No, more than that. I'm not sure what it was exactly. I'm thinking I'll need some backup anyways. (To Blitz) Blitz, you're with me.

Blitz: Me?

Blaze: Call it a hunch. Let's go.

(With that, Blaze and Blitz step into the room with Deadshot, and behind his mask, we can tell he's scowling at them)

Deadshot: If you think I'm going to talk, you've got another thing coming.

Blaze: We already have enough to convict you, Deadshot. We really don't even need you to talk before you're sent to prison. But if you want any chance of seeing those you care about again, you'll tell us what we want to know.

Deadshot: Yeah right. You're talking to a dead man anyways.

Blaze: I've heard about your notorious death wish. But I've also heard about Zoe.

Deadshot: (Startled) How'd you find out about her?

Blitz: We found record of her during the war.

Deadshot: But... Grodd said she was killed...

Blaze: Well, Grodd lied to you. No surprise there.

Deadshot: Where is she?

Blaze: Last we saw, somewhere near Chicago. I'm not certain if that's her current whereabouts. Why?

Deadshot: (Sighs) Now I can die in peace.

Blitz: What are you talking about?

Deadshot: Did you even wonder how Grodd wrestled me from the Squad?

Blaze: The Squad? (Realizes exactly what's about to happen) Grodd's got control of Waller's nanobombs, doesn't he?

Deadshot: Just mine as far as I know. And by this point, he's noticed I've been captured. He won't want to leave loose ends. That thing's probably going to go active any minute now.

Blaze: (With determination in her voice) We've got to stop that thing from going off.

Deadshot: How? It's embedded at the base of my skull. Like it or not, my brains are going to be staining this room. (Sighs) It's just a shame I have to leave Zoe like this.

Blaze: Not a chance, Floyd. You're going to reunite with Zoe, and together, we're going to make Grodd and Brainiac pay for what they've done.

Deadshot: So what? You're going to disarm this thing before it goes off? Good luck with that.

Blaze: (To Blitz) He's got a point. I've got no way to disarm this thing short of killing him.

Blitz: (Letting lightning arc through her arm) I think I can though.

Blaze: Are you crazy? You might cause permanent brain damage!

Blitz: It either let me try this, or we'll have Lawton brain all over the room. I've got to at least try.

(With mere seconds left to act before Deadshot's head explodes, Blitz forces his helmet off)

Deadshot: What are you doing?!

Blitz: Saving your life.

(As soon as the helmet hits the floor, Blitz is tracing along Deadshot's spine, before ultimately settling on a spot)

Blitz: I think I've got the bomb!

Deadshot: (Hearing a familiar ringing in his ears) Hurry up, that thing's going to go off any second now!

Blitz: This might sting a bit.

(With that, Blitz releases a small stream of electricity into the spot on Deadshot's spine. As the bolt travels, Deadshot's face does contort a bit from the electrical activity, and his arms do start twitching, but after a few seconds, Blitz stops the current, rendering the nanobomb useless.)

Blitz: That should do it.

Deadshot: (Realizing there's no more sound of death in his ears) What did you do?!

Blitz: I traced the electrical activity up your spinal cord, hoping to find a hotspot where the nanobomb was injected. Sure enough I did, then administered a short range electrical charge to disrupt the receiver on the explosive. You'll still need some pretty delicate surgery to remove the device itself and stop the explosive from being set off by, say, a blow to the neck, but Grodd can't use the detonator.

Deadshot: (Only slightly able to follow that train of logic) Come again?

Blaze: What Blitz means is that she's shorted out the bomb. Now short of a direct hit to the neck, nothing's going to set that thing off. You're free of Grodd's control.

(At this moment, Deadshot has no idea what to say. For probably the first time since being forced into the Suicide Squad and then into Grodd's service, he doesn't have the fear of death from someone with a switch. But as he comes to terms with the realization, a tear rolls down his face.)

Deadshot: Free... I'm finally free...

Blaze: I won't interfere with how you spend the remainder of your days. Just say it, and you're free.

(For a moment, Deadshot seriously considers it. Blaze is literally just letting him go. No questions asked. But then he sees his mask on the floor, and realizes that he's still got work to do)

Deadshot: As much as I'd love to take up that offer... (Puts on his helmet) There's still some tail that needs kicking. Grodd's going to pay for what he's done.

Blaze: Going at that alone would be suicide. (Extends a hand) Let us help you.

Deadshot: (Takes Blaze's hand) I owe you guys my life. But I'm taking it on one condition.

Blaze: Let me guess, you want us to help you find Zoe.

Deadshot: Looks like I'm not the only one who never misses.

Blaze: Deal. (Shaking Deadshot's hand as Flash and Supergirl) Then let's get to work. Starting with the Fear Gas. What does Brainiac want with it.

Deadshot: (Remembers exactly what's going on) Oh, shit. I almost forgot!

Blaze: What is it?

Deadshot: Brainiac's planning to use that Fear Gas to clear out Metropolis before collecting it!

(As soon as Deadshot says that, the ground begins to shake)

Supergirl: It's already begun!

Blitz: What's begun?!

Supergirl: Brainiac's preparing to collect his chosen cities!

Blaze: We need to get moving. Now!

(With that, the group, now including Deadshot, leaves the interrogation room and prepares for action, as our scene ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. And with that, as per the notes Yami and I exchanged, the Legion is officially complete! Deadshot was the last member we could both remember was in this group, and was actually one of my initial 13. Also, small detail about Deadshot. Since Deadshot had a different voice actor when he was initially revealed as compared to the final game, I kind of use both voices in this version. The original reveal voice is him without his helmet, and his in game voice is him with his helmet. You're free to use whichever voice you like, that's just how I'm doing it. So, what awaits now that Brainiac is making his move? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
