Chapter one:

An unsuspecting man goes through the door leading to the garbage with a cart full of garbage bags. He hums to himself as he props open the door before turning away to wheel the garbage to the bin.

Three figures poke their heads above a box they were hiding behind. They move quietly through the door without the man even noticing. They stay low keeping alert for anyone though luckily for them no one else is right here. They hear others elsewhere in this place though.

"Psst." One quietly hisses gaining the attention of the other two. Nodding to a brick archway which looks to lead to what they're here for.

The other two nod and go with the other into that room where indeed it has what they want.

The three share a victorious smirk before slipping the backpacks off their backs. They split up filling their bags with what they can as quickly as they can. They pause when they hear approaching footsteps and duck behind some boxes.

Someone enters into the room before starting to go around to check supplies.

The three wait and move around the boxes cautiously trying to make for the way out.

"Hold on. Didn't I just get some of these yesterday?"

The three make a quick break for the way out of that room while the person starts to look around. They go for the door finding the man reentering from the garbage. They shove past him making a break for it down the alleyway.

"Hey!" The man turns shouting before chasing after them.

The three glance to each other before splitting up going in different directions.

The man skids to a stop glancing in the different directions.

The three take quick turns disappearing from sight making the man give up. They take a few turns each before meeting up at a point of the alley that meets up together. They glance to each other before slinking past a broken wooden fence. They go through the tall grass in the backyard that covers them. They enter into an abandoned home. They sit in what used to be the living room with the window border up, sitting in a circle together. They put their backpacks in the middle of their circle. They open their bags showing the food that they had just stolen.

"Dang!" The red head of the group blinks at the smallest of their groups bag. "You got a good section of the restaurants stored food."

The three turn as they hear a car pull up.

The red head moves away to peek through the gap in the boards. "Shit. They're back earlier than planned." He hisses at seeing a demolition crew arriving with an officer.

"Well let's get out of here." The blonde gets up swinging his bag over his shoulder after closing it. "This place served its purpose fine enough for today. We all knew that we had limited time to use it anyways." He points since the three of them had only came here to hide away from any chasers that they might have picked up.

The other two close their bags and head out with the blonde, all sneaking through the tall grass.

They all head away from that area starting their walk back home. They know better than to steal in the area that they live in. They don't talk much as they head back. Instead keeping their eyes out for anyone wanting to cause them any trouble. They try to keep away from causing any trouble themselves as they walk along. They pause as someone calls from an alleyway.

"Hey!" A homeless man emerges from an alley. "Got anything to spare by chance?" He has on three layers of ratty clothes as a beanie with a big hole in the top, all making him look like a true mess.

"No." The blonde tells the man and the three keep moving.

"Come on!" The man calls to them. "Surely you have to have something!"

"We said no so fuck off!" The blonde snaps turning to glare back at the man.

The man is about to say something when a woman points him out to a cop. He turns as the cop calls that he wants to talk. "Shit!" He turns dashing down the alley with the cop chasing him.

The three just walk away leaving whatever situation that is alone.

Other people around do look curious though leave it alone as well.

The three make it safely back to their living space.

An alleyway beside some abandoned train tracks. There is a makeshift tent made of a tarp and some metal pipes, some items placed in an old abandoned cement pipe by the tent, and sleeping spots with some ratty clothes inside the makeshift tent.

The three place their bags in the makeshift tent.

The smallest, a boy with white hair, goes to sit on the grass not far from the makeshift tent. He glances up to the clouds in the sky.

"Hey Near." The red head heads over joining the other while the blonde goes through some of their supplies.

Near turns to the red head. "What is it Matt?" He inquires blinking curiously at the other.

"We really should drop the whole never use our real names rule." Matt mentions with a slight sigh. "I mean I understand when we're out there. But here as well?"

"Matt. We may know each other's real names however we still have to be careful. You know how harsh this world is. Especially to those like us. We may trust each other though we are unable to extend that trust to anyone else. We're still out in the open here. Someone knowing our real names could cause issues. Big ones."

Matt sighs and nods his head as he gives in. "Yeah I know. Still feels sucky though." He shifts to glance to some of the clouds that are out today. "Well anyways that isn't what I wanted to talk about." He admits as Near listens to what he wanted to bring up. "I was thinking that maybe we could hit up the library. I mean it has been awhile since we last went there. I know the one that we go to is in too poor of an area for computers but at least they have books. It passes the time alright I guess."

"You get bored easily at the library." Near points out with the softest of smiles as he knows that there is more to this request. "Why would you suggest going there?"

Matt shrugs a little. "Eh. I guess I can handle it sometimes. Plus I think you two haven't shared some moments with each other in a bit. I think it is past due for one. And what better way than for you two to read up at the library swapping knowledge and theories about things? I can put up with my boredom to make sure you two keep a bond between each other. What do you say? It'll be a nice outing." He nudges Near with his elbow who turns still with the small smile.

"Well I suppose we do have some time. We would just have to convince him to go too." Near agrees causing Matt to grin widely.

"Matt!" The blonde calls to which the two turn around to look at him as he has his head poking out of the makeshift tent starting at them. "Where'd you put that knife you used last night? Come help me find it!"

"Coming Mello!" Matt calls back so the blonde ducks back into the tent. He glances to Near with his curious look changing back to a smile as he switches from Mello to Near. "Leave that part to me." He gets up heading over to help Mello.

Near turns away chuckling softly under his breath. He gets up heading over to the train tracks looking at them. He lets out a breath before movement catches his attention. He turns in that direction not seeing anyone. He was sure he saw something and it is putting him on edge. Before he can move he hears muffled cries that sound like a females.
