Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, Starfire officially joined the fight for the forces of good, now acting as a liaison between the Republic and the Legion, the leaders of the two factions celebrating their alliance with a few sips of wine Vandal Savage bought from Thomas Jefferson himself. Surprisingly, it was still good. But as they celebrated, Darkblood got to work using the sample of Belial Aether's necromantic powers to revive some new members for his Empire: King Shark, Man-Bat, Killer Moth, and, scarily enough, the man who started all of this, the Joker. I can only imagine how the other factions will react to that. So, what's going to happen next? Read on to discover...

(Our story resumes in Legion HQ where Blaze is writing in her journal, an action we haven't seen in a very long time. The entry reads in this fashion:)

"It's been a year since all of this started. And man has a lot happened. We went from two factions to six, ventured into the multiverse to recruit some of our members, found out my beloved Drago is now brought back as one of our enemies, and now established an alliance with the newest of these factions, the Republic. Their leader, this Belial Aether person, seems trustworthy based on reports of our cross-operatives. But then again, anybody who can reform Hawkgirl and make Vandal Savage seem trustworthy. But in spite of all the craziness, we're pulling through pretty well. I admit, I'm taking to this leading the Element Guard thing better than I thought. I'm still nervous about every decision to be made, but I'm better able to bullshit my way through presenting them, I guess. One can only hope that'll wrap this war up quickly."

(As Blaze finishes writing in her journal, what sounds like a rocket can be heard entering the underground base, but it's revealed to only be Starfire, who flies right up to Blaze at the old Justice League conference table)

Starfire: Friend Blaze, I come bearing news.

Blaze: Take a seat, Kori. What have you got?

Starfire: Vandal Savage's equipment has picked up a series of strange energy signals all over the globe.

Blaze: Strange in what way?

Starfire: Strange as in the energy does not match anything in this universe.

Blaze: Like Belial's energy signature?

Starfire: It doesn't match his either, but the concept is the same.

Blaze: Interesting. I'm giving the Republic full reign over this situation. Keep these energies out of the hands of the Regime, Society, or Empire. So, where are these signatures located?

Starfire: The clearest are in the sewers beneath Gotham City, and in an old Shaolin temple in China.

Blaze: Any others worth noting?

Starfire: There's one that seemingly keeps moving, but it seems similar to that Vermillion character you told us about.

Blaze: Same universe?

Starfire: Maybe.

Blaze: Keep me updated. I've got to start finding a way to get Brainiac out of the way.

Starfire: I can help with that. Once I get back.

Blaze: Thanks, Kori.

(And with that, Starfire takes off back towards Republic headquarters)

Blaze: Hm... all of this seems... odd...

(As Blaze ponders what's going on with these energy signatures, we transition out of the Legion HQ, and then out of the atmosphere altogether. And as we enter the space surrounding the earth, we suddenly see something approaching from the distance, a giant spaceship resembling a hybrid of the RLS Legacy and Queen Anne's Revenge, so it looks more like an actual ship than a spaceship. Focusing on the deck, we see a crew of automatons either manning the oars of the ship while singing what sounds like an alien version of the sea shanty known as The Wellerman, but standing before the bow, someone resembling Larfleeze, but notably a female of the species, dressed like a mixture of Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones. )

?: Avast ye scurvy dogs! Cease with the shanty! This be our destination!

(As the figure looks upon the earth, she pulls out a holographic parchment revealing something nobody would've expected: Starfire's got a bounty on her head)

Avarice: The Tamaranian princess ought to have pulled port here. Well, nobody escapes Captain Avarice and the crew of the Damnation. (To her crew) Listen here, ye swabs! Our target be hiding on this planet. Now, this lass' sister, Kommand'r, be paying us handsomely to track down her mangy hide and bring her back to Tamaran in a pine box. So once we put anchor, scour this pitiful planet for any signs of her. She doesn't escape us alive, aye!

Avarice's Crew: AYE, CAPTAIN AVARICE!

Avarice: That's what I like to hear. Now, find us a secluded port and put down the anchor. We've a bounty to claim.

(With the order from their Captain, the automatons man their posts and prepare to land this ship somewhere on Earth to continue their hunt of Starfire, which she may or may not be aware of. And as Captain Avarice and her ship enter the atmosphere, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good place to end for today. And it looks like we're finally about to get one of Yami's original characters. Unexpectedly, Captain Avarice is the first to make their appearance. I've hinted at another, but I'm still working on how to introduce them at this moment. And it's official, in canon The Injustice Wars have lasted for a year now. As Year 2 dawns, things are about to get crazier, I will say that much now. Speaking of crazy, yes I know it seems weird to have robots singing a sea shanty, but Captain Avarice is just meant to be a pirate in space, so I threw in as much stereotypical pirate stuff as I could with her. And I know her ship's name is different from last time. When she last appeared it was the Imperial Damnation, now it's just the Damnation. But there's a reason for that. You'll see as the story goes on. So, how will everyone react to this new face? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
