Welcome back to The Injustice Wars! Last time, Darkblood made a powerful new ally in the form of the space pirate Avarice and the crew of her ship, the newly rechristened Imperial Damnation. But while the Empire is starting to grow, they're not the only ones expanding. What do I mean exactly? Read on to discover...

(Our tale picks up in a dark tunnel. But eventually the strange lighting, water flowing through where a walkway would usually be, and above all the smell reveal our location to be a sewer somewhere. And in that tunnel stride Hellboy, Plastic Man, Aero, and Belial Aether)

Plastic Man: Remind me again why we're trudging through Gotham's sewers?

Hellboy: If you listened to the briefing, you'd know.

Aero: Some sort of energy signature is moving around down here, and we're trying to get to it before the Regime, Society, or Empire can.

Plastic Man: Still doesn't explain why I'm down here instead of Starfire.

Hellboy: If we got attacked, Starfire could set us all ablaze with the methane concentrations down here.

Plastic Man: As if your cigar wouldn't?

Belial Aether: So far, so nothing. Better contact V and make sure we're in the right place.

(With that, Belial pulls out a phone and puts a video call into Vandal Savage, who we see pick it up in the Republic's base via scene transition)

Vandal Savage: Have you found it yet?

Belial Aether: No dice so far. Are you sure this is where those signals were coming from?

Vandal Savage: Positive. They should be right nearby.

Plastic Man: (Stretching his neck to put his head in the call) Well we've been trudging through this place for three hours and there's still nothing!

Vandal Savage: My equipment is never wrong.

(At this point, Aero thinks of something and joins the call to bring his idea to the front)

Aero: Wait. What if you're equipment's not wrong, but we're in the wrong place?

Vandal Savage: And how do you propose that working?

Aero: The energy signature is definitely underneath Gotham, but what if it's not in the sewers?

Belial Aether: Good thinking, Aero!

Vandal Savage: The boy has a good theory. Let me take a look at it.

(With that, Vandal Savage adjusts his equipment and locates the energy signature)

Vandal Savage: And he's right! The signature is coming from below you.

Hellboy: We're in a sewer, what could possibly be below us?

Vandal Savage: I visited Gotham in the early 20th Century, shortly after they got their train system installed. If I recall correctly, based on your GPS location, the old City Hall Station should be somewhere around there.

Belial Aether: It's the best lead we've had all day, so we'll check it out. Thanks, V.

(And as Belial Aether hangs up his call, we transition back to the sewer.)

Belial Aether: Looks like we're looking for a subway station rather than a sewer alcove.

Plastic Man: Thank goodness, this place is doing nothing for my complexion.

Aero: Now all we've got to do is find a way through this place into this subway station. Shouldn't be that...

(Before Aero can finish his statement, Aero leans on the nearby wall and it collapses, giving way to an old maintenance corridor)

Aero: ...hard.

Belial Aether: Nice find, kid. This might be our way down.

(Sure enough, after a few minutes of following this corridor, and a resultant staircase, the explorers find themselves in what clearly used to be a subway station, complete with a stopped train. Clearing some cobwebs away from his face, Plastic Man gets a look at the sign hanging by the tracks)

Plastic Man: City Hall Station. This is the place alright.

Belial Aether: Now to find the energy source.

(But soon enough, Belial Aether catches something in the air against his skin. And as he looks around, we can see shapes moving in the shadows, all over the abandoned station.)

Belial Aether: We're not alone.

Plastic Man: How can you just tell that?

Hellboy: Doesn't really matter right now, bub. (Pulls out his massive gun) Just prepare for a fight.

(With that, the group bunches up, back to back, preparing for a fight. And all around them, four unique shapes appear moving in the shadows, so faintly as if to be invisible. But at that point, Aero catches something on the air, but this time, with his nose)

Aero: Do you guys smell that?

Belial Aether: Smell what?

Aero: Call me crazy, but it smells like... pizza.

Plastic Man: (Sniffing the air) Kid's right. Smells like Ray's actually. And I mean the real Ray's, not those knockoffs.

Belial Aether: Who'd be eating pizza down here?

(And as if to answer Belial Aether's question, the figures in the shadows make themselves known, but we stay behind them, so as not to give away their identities, now prepared to battle, as evidenced by the sound of a sword being drawn)

?: Who are you?

Belial Aether: Funny, I was about to ask you the same question.

(As the two stare each other down, we finally get some detail on these mysterious figures, and they appear to be... green? And it looks like they have shells as they all step into the light, revealing colored strips of fabric around where their eyes would normally be)

Belial Aether: I'll admit, I've never seen anything like you.

(And just as the fight looks like it's about to go down, our scene ends for today)

And a nice cliffhanger to end off today's update. Anyone who knows the Injustice 2 DLC should know exactly who these four figures are. And even if you don't know the DLC, I think I dropped enough clues to give it away. So, how is this meeting going to go? And who are we dealing with here? Tune in soon enough to find out! Same time... same channel!
