CHAPTER 5:

Almost a month had passed since Grace and her parents had adopted Miley. Alice and Ken were very proud of how much their daughter had been learning from Chloe regarding cat care.

At about 4 p.m. on July 4th, a few of the Bellas headed over to Aubrey and Chad's house for some burgers on the grill. Grace wanted to show Miley to the other Bellas, but her parents were opposed to it; it would be too hard for Grace to hold on to her little Miley during the barbecue. So, Alice took some pictures of the kitten with her phone, so the others would be able to see it.

When they arrived, Alice rang the doorbell, and Aubrey answered.

"Hey, glad you all could make it," Aubrey said.

"Thanks, Aubrey. Happy Fourth of July," Alice said.

"Thank you," Aubrey said.

"Grace wanted to show her new kitten Miley to everyone. You wouldn't mind if we share the pictures I took with the other Bellas, would you?" Alice asked.

"Are you kidding?! We'd love to see the pictures. Come on out back, Chad's already hard at work grilling the burgers, and I've got some salt potatoes cooking on the stove," Aubrey said. She led the family out to the back patio, where many of the other Bellas were already sitting down at the picnic table.

"Hey, guys. Happy Fourth of July," Alice said.

"Thank you, we're all glad you're here," Stacie said.

"So, Grace, do you want to show the Bellas your new kitten?" Alice asked.

"Sure. Her name is Miley. She is about nine months old now," Grace explained as Alice showed the pictures of the kitten to the others.

"Aww...look how cute she is," Stacie said, admiring the kitten.

"She's so precious. How old is she?" Aubrey asked.

"Nine months old," Grace said proudly.

"Could we get one, Mommy?" Bella asked.

"Yeah, can we?" Kim asked.

"We'll have to talk to your father about that, girls," Stacie said.

"I have to say, Alice, your daughter has really taken my cat care instructions to heart," Chloe said.

"She sure has. Her father and I are so proud of her," Alice said.

After they all got an opportunity to catch up and have some burgers and salt potatoes, some of the Bellas decided to stick around for fireworks. While they were watching, the Bellas told their children about the fact that America had just turned 250 years old. Since it was an important milestone, it was a big day full of parades and other festivities.

On the afternoon of July 27th, each of the Bellas received a text from Amy stating that Star Elizabeth Allen was born on July 27th, 2026, at 11:48 a.m. The other Bellas sent Amy and Bumper congratulatory messages back.

THE END!
