AN: Hey everyone sorry for not posting last week. I was extremely busy and to exhausted to do so, however this chapter is actually longer than most of my chapters being a total of 1,568 words. I hope that somewhat makes up for the extended wait time. Though this is not my first published fanfic I am very often plagued with writer's block so I'm going to just apologize now for any future long breaks between chapters. Thank you to everyone who has favorited, followed, and/or reviewed. I appreciate all the reviews I get be they good, bad, or meh so please leave one. If you wish to know what was occurring last week simply go to the Twitter with the same username as the one here. I do know what shameless plugging is. I might post more of my original poems on there though. I do have plans for a book of poems I wrote while pretending to be each of the hosts in OHSHC so I might post those soon, but now I'm just rambling. This is posted on Thursday, June 27th, 2019 for any future reader questioning why I'm apologizing for the extra week wait between chapters that they didn't need to sit through. Any way enough with the wait on to the story.

Quick last minute note italics is what is occurring on the TV.

Second Skate:

Skating Orphans

Yuri Katsuki's POV

Though still curious and wondering, I got back to skating and practicing for next week. There really isn't much time to lose. That doesn't keep me from stealing glances at Fujioka-chan. She really is familiar, but from where?

Haruhi's POV

I had fun skating this morning. It was fun to go back to the basics I learned two years ago. I did find it odd that a familiar black haired man kept looking at me from time to time. Then again, I did the same thing to him. My rink mates weren't really that bad either. The triplets, who I later learned were Yuko-sensei's daughters, Axel, Loop, and Lutz, were kind of intimidating but they're nice at least. The boys were a whole different matter. Maehara-kun didn't listen to the teacher and kept trying to go as fast as possible which made him collide with the wall; Yukimura-kun had a hard time not falling when trying to turn often crying out loud afterwards; Kimura kept tripping over his own feet he was so nervous; and Terasaka-kun was always angry as he kept being bumped into by the others. They were one of the reasons I stayed close to the outskirts of the rink, besides my own peace of mind at having an easy escape route.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and before I knew it the class was over. Ms. Isogai-san came pick us up and we went home all the while I had that same nagging feeling that kept telling me that the mysterious black haired man looked familiar.

TIME SKIP FOR PLOT CONVENIENCE (A FEW MONTHS LATER THOUGH STILL HARUHI'S POV)

I was watching TV in the living room when one of the shows I actually had an interest in on Saturday came on.

The screen shows three women with identical looks but different outfits sitting in a semicircle around a dark brown table in white chairs with a large screen bearing the words Sugino Sports Show in white with a blue background that matches the blue walls.

"Good morning Japan! I'm Mai," said the woman in the center with brown eyes and dark blue hair pulled back in a high ponytail with tan skin wearing a sleeveless, white, collared, button up shirt with a black bow tie, slim light blue jeans, and black high tops.

"I'm Suki," said the woman, to the left of Mai, who had her hair pulled into pigtails and curled at the wearing a light and dark blue plaid skirt with a lilac, long sleeved shirt and lilac Converse.

"And I'm Kirika," said the last woman on the right, who has her hair spiked up in different directions while wearing khaki shorts, an orange and white striped shirt, white shoes, and orange and white baseball cap.

"And we're the Sugino Sisters," the three said at the same time.

"And boy do we have a show for you today," Mai exclaimed.

"Oh yeah," Kirika agreed. "From the lates news in Baseball…"

"To the life changing events happening to some of our favorite figure skaters," Suki continued.

"This is Sugino Sports Show," Mai finished. The live audience is seen cheering for a few seconds before the camera focuses on the sisters again. "Now where to start."

"I say we get the scores out the way first," Kirika said confidently. Suki nodded her head so Mai gestured for Kirika to give the scores. "Alright. The Astros put up quite the fight in the close match up with the Tentacles but ultimately it was the Tentacles that took the trophy in the World series."

"Another victory goes to the Masked Wonder, pro wrestler Matsubara Tokio for his win against his fellow wrestler, and rival, Panda in last Thursday's match," Mai took over.

"And the last congratulations go to Katsuki Yuri, age 24, for his gold medal win and the Russian Punk, Yuri Plisetsky age 15, for his silver medal win at last week's world," commented Suki. Her face then goes a little sad. "I also wish to send Yuri Plisetsky my condolences for the loss of the last living member of his family his grandfather, Nikolai Plisetsky, who passed away from a heart attack a day before the figure skating Worlds." The other two also have sad looks on their faces at the news.

"These condolences are also extended to Kenjiro Minami and Guang Hong Ji, both age 16, who have both lost their families over the past month as well," Kirika added. Mai sadly nodded in agreement with her sisters before she started on the reports of how the two skaters' families passed away.

"The Kenjiro family were last seen at the seen of a car wreck on their way home from the hospital where the mother, Kenjiro Hana age 48, and father, Kenjiro Kyo age 49, worked and the eldest son of the couple and older brother of Kenjiro Minami, Kenjiro Yagami age 21, interned in pursuit of his medical degree to follow in his family's legacy. It is said that Kenjiro Hana died when the car collided with that of a drunk driver while her husband passed away a few moments later due to a fatal hit to his head that he sustained. Kenjiro Yagami however though managing to get to a hospital in time passed away from too much blood loss on the operation table last Wednesday." Mai took a visibly, deep breath before going on. "For the Guang Hong family, things took a turn for the worst when Guang Hong Ji's mother, Guang Hong Ai age 37, became terminally ill from a previously undiscovered, malevolent tumor located on her brain. The tumor was found out to be stage 4 brain cancer, and a video taken of the family before her death filmed by Guang Hong Ji and posted on all of his social media platforms confirms his unfortunate, new status as an orphan.

This is mainly do to it's accompanying caption of 'Farewell mom and I hope you continue to watch over me as a spirit like the rest of our family and ancestors' and the #neworphan that follows. Kenjiro Minami commented on the post made last Saturday with #neworphan as well while also sending his own condolences to the skater." The screen behind the sisters displayed the video and replies that the sisters are commenting on.

Probably noticing the glossy look in Mai's eyes, Suki took reins while Kirika comforted Mai. "Kenjiro-kun wasn't the only one who reposted and commented on the video. Yuri Plisetsky also did so with the comment 'we're in the same boat for once, but don't get used to it because you're still losers' that was preceded by the #neworphan, harsh. Others in the figure skating community to leave comments include Phichit Chulanont, Christophe Giacometti, and Leo de la Iglesia all sending their support to the three orphaned skaters."

"What broke the internet however was the series of comments from Victor Nikiforov and Katsuki Yuri, who had officially announced their engagement at Worlds last week with Victor Nikiforov stating that the wedding is being planned for February with Katsuki Yuri blushing by his side. These comments feature an intense desire to adopt the young skaters coming from Victor Nikiforov while it's clear that Katsuki Yuri is overwhelmed and trying to talk him down from such a big decision that they should discuss first," Mai chimes in composed once more after her earlier crying session.

Kirika smirks adding, "I don't think Kenjiro Minami would mind as his comments started to team up with Victor Nikiforov's in convincing Katsuki Yuri that them together as a skating family would be epic. Guang Hong Ji didn't seemed too opposed to the idea either stating that as long as he could keep his last name the same he'd be okay with it. It seems that Guang Hong Ji is staying neutral on the topic. Yuri Plisetsky on the other hand is vehemently opposed to the idea stating, 'No way in hell will I ever call, or consider, you family.'"

"Wow," Mai comments, "talk about mean."

"I think it's sweet how willing Victor Nikiforov is to adopt," Suki says, "May be if enough people support the idea, Katsuki Yuri will get on board with it as well." The other two nod while the audience cheers again before the screen goes black before switching to a cartoon show with a cat and a mouse.

"Hey!" I cry turning around from my spot on the floor. "I was watching that!"

"Too bad so sad," Yuki, the mean, and only other, girl in the orphanage, mocks. I sigh standing up. There's no reasoning with her at all. I just resign myself to leave the room going to my room where I can at least study for school. Can't be falling behind if I want to get into the best school in the world on scholarship after all.

I'm still mad that I missed seeing the highlights of the World Figure Skating Championships though. I've lost count of how many of the competitions I'd missed after my parents died. No amount of studying could make up for that. Though in a weird way, it was comforting to know that I'm not the only passionate figure skater without any family. Even more so that three of my top 10 figure skating idols were in the same boat as me.

AN2: I wonder who can name all the reference in this chapter first. Leave a review if you do. See you next time ~lumigo
