Chapter 39: Punishment

Naruto woke up, lying on a bed with a weight on his chest. At first he thought it was Orochimaru until he saw her sleeping in the next bed with Tsunade. Everyone grabbed it and within a blink of an eye they were in front of Konoha Gates. "We're home!" he yelled and ran into the village with his group close behind. Then Naruto spoke making her jump. "This way." He said, walking away.

Soon the two stood in front of a really large gate as she looked around. She then noticed another small room that was further down the hallway and started to walk till Naruto grabbed her shoulder and stopped her. "Ready?" he asked as he grabbed her hand and walked into the gate and stopped. "What are we waiting for?" Ino asked. Then the ground shook and trees began to fall over and now stood in front of the two blondes was a really large fox. "You dare to come in here!" the fox growled out. Naruto sighed and walked up to Kyu as she lowered her head so Naruto could hug her. "It's alright she's with me so don't eat her like the others." He said. "But she's so tiny and tasty looking." Kyu growled and licked her lips.

Naruto then walked back other to Ino and whispered. "Just go with it please." And then he grabbed her by the back of her neck and kissed her, finished up by licking her cheek. "She's with me and I'll be really upset if you do eat her. She just wants to see a memory so please let go to the vault." And he got a small growl from the fox and she walked away. "It's all good she won't eat you now, sorry about kissing you. It was the only way that she wouldn't eat you." He said as he walked through the woods. Ino was red in the face and quickly ran after Naruto till she stood in front of a house and a huge marble mausoleum. "Wow… I never seen anyone's mindscape like this." She muttered. Naruto chuckled and grabbed her hand, "Well not everyone is hated like I am. Now shall we see this memory?" he asked as he led her into the marble building. As they entered Ino saw two hallways, one was well lighted and the other one was dark and gloomy. Ino started to walk towards the gloomy hallway as Naruto tried to stop her but Kyu stopped him. Then Ino's face slammed against an invisible wall and Kyu busted out laughing. "Hahahaha… At least we know the security seals work. The only memories down that hallway are secret." Kyu said as Ino rubbed her nose.

As Ino followed Naruto she looked around at all the doors and noticed that each of them were green or red and the ones that were red had a number on them. Before she could asked Kyu answered the unasked question. "Green is happy memories and the red ones are the bad. The numbers on the red ones rate how bad they are from one to five, five being the worst." Kyu said and quickly jumped inside of Naruto's shirt. As they walked everyone watched and was impressed by what they saw then Tenten spoke. "Wait I didn't know Naruto was in the orphanage as well. I kind of wanna see." She said as she whispered the last part. Tsunade heard her and came up with an idea, "Naruto since you saw all of these girls naked I think that they should all pick out a memory to see." She said making Naruto and Ino stop. Kyu softly growled from the insides of his shirt while Naruto sighed and just agreed. "I want to see the memory of when you were in the orphanage." Tenten said. Naruto walked up to the door with Kyu and he placed his hand on it while Kyu placed her paw. Then there was a loud clicking noise as the door unlocked and opened. Ino started to walk inside but Naruto stopped her by placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Fair warning, once you walk inside you can't come back out until the memory ends." He warned as he walked away to a bench nearby. Ino was puzzled as to why she would end a memory before watching it all and why she couldn't stop. But before she could ask Kyu answered her unasked question, "It's a safety machination that we made to capture people entering. That is if they were able to get by me, which is unlikely but you can never be too unprepared." The fox said as she led Ino through the doorway. The door shut and the dark room turned into a large room that was in the attic. Ino looked around and noticed that there was a large hole in the corner of the roof then she heard rustling and turned to see a small blonde boy poking his head out of a pile of blankets. Naruto yawned and stretched then he heard people talking and quickly he hurried to the large hole and saw a man and woman being led inside. "This is it! I'm going to be adopted today! I just know it!" he yelled out as he ran to grab a bucket.

Naruto quickly ran back to the large hole in the wall and there was a large wooden barrel full of water from the rain. Naruto quickly filled the bucket and got undressed, he then climbed into a bathtub that didn't have running water and quickly dumped the cold water on himself and then soaped up. After he rinsed himself off he ran and pulled out the nicest shirt he had. It was a plain white shirt with a couple of holes in it but it was the only one that had fewer holes and no stains. Soon the little boy was dressed and looked at his reflection in a broken mirror, then he comb his hair and after he did he frowned at his reflection and then violently shook his head making his spikes pop back up. He then smiled and gave himself a thumb's up.

Ino and the others chuckled as they watched Naruto get ready. Naruto quickly and stealthy made his way downstairs, looking around corners hoping not to be caught. "Now is my chance!" he whispered as he saw all of the children lined up as the Sister's showed the couple the kids. Naruto quickly ran and stood at the end of the line, ducking and hiding behind the kid next to him. Tenten and the others were confused as to what he was doing till the couple came and saw him. "I thought you said that you don't have IT around the other children Sister Scarlet." The man said as he looked at the woman. "We don't! I don't know how he got down here." Scarlet replied then turned to another Sister. "I thought you said that you locked the door so he couldn't leave." She whispered. "Sorry Sister Scarlet but me and my wife aren't interested in any children that's been tainted by that demon." The man said and walked away with his wife as the Sisters chased after them trying to convince them to adopt a child.

As the sisters were out of sight a group of older kids circled Naruto. "What the hell do you think you're doing? You just ruin the chance of any of us being adopted!" the boy yelled out, pushing Naruto to the ground. "I-I wanted to be adopted too!" Naruto cried out. "No one wants you! And now because of you once again none of us will be adopted!" a girl yelled out as tears began to build up in her eyes. The older boys saw and started to kick and punch Naruto, ripping his shirt. Naruto just curled up in a ball and took the beating then he heard a kid shout, "The Sisters are coming back!" and then all of the children ran away. Naruto stood up and as Sister Scarlet approached him, he looked up at the furious woman and looked down at his feet. "You know the drill Naruto my office now!" she yelled out and Naruto quickly ran to her office. Once inside he just stood in the middle knowing that Sister Scarlet hated if he touched anything.

Soon Sister Scarlet came in and sat down behind her desk crossing her arms. "You just scared away another lovely couple! You know what that means?" she asked with a wicked grin. Naruto trembled as he stared at the floor. "I-I m-must be pu-punished." He sobbed out. "That's right but seeing how I'm felling generous if you find your belt in thirty seconds I'll forgive you but if you don't you have to go to the punishment closet." Scarlet said as she opened up a drawer and quickly picked up a belt and hid it in her sleeve. Everyone saw and was shocked, Ino didn't want to watch anymore and tried to leave but was trapped in. "Naruto did warn you that you can't leave till the memory ends. So just sit back and watch." Kyu said looking up at Ino. Ino watched as Naruto quickly ran over to the dresser and looked through the drawer but couldn't find the belt. Scarlet grinned as she watched Naruto panic as he tried to find the belt but his time was up. "Times up." Scarlet said as she walked up to the drawer and pretended to search for the belt as it fell out of her sleeve she picked it up.

"It wasn't in there! I looked!" Naruto cried out but then saw Sister Scarlet holding said belt. Then what happened next made Ino and the others tear up as they watched the woman beat Naruto. After Naruto's beating he laid on the floor crying as Sister Scarlet put away the belt. "Get up!" she yelled out but Naruto stayed laying and balling his eyes out. "Fine!" she spit out and walked over to Naruto and grabbed him by his hair and dragged him out of her office and to a nearby closet. She opened the door and threw Naruto in and pulling out a hand full of his hair in doing so. "Five days." She said closing the door and locking it. After an hour of crying Naruto slowly sat up but he instantly fell to his knees as the pain was too much.

He took a small rock that he kept hidden in the closet and scratched five more tally marks onto the wall. Ino and the others squinted their eyes to see what he was doing but as he moved and the light from the key hole showed the wall they knew that he was keeping track on how many days he was in the closet and to their shock the wall was covered in tally marks. "That's why the Sisters said that we were never allowed to open that door." Tenten said as she was horrified in what she just seen. Tsunade and the other however where royally pissed off as they continued to watch. The day soon turned into night and Ino watched as no one came to give him food. "Aren't they going to feed him?" she asked looking down at Kyu. Kyu just laughed, "Please… you don't get fed when you're in the punishment closet. Hell he might get a cup of water tomorrow morning and that's it." Kyu said. "What happens if he has to use the bathroom?" Ino asked and Kyu just looked over at a bucket on the other side of the closet.

That night was a bad thunder storm and Naruto just listened to the rain and thunder. But as soon as he was about to fall asleep a really loud boom was heard shaking the whole orphanage. "What was that?" Naruto asked himself as he looked through the key hole and saw the Sisters running upstairs. As Naruto leaned on the door more to try and see it opened making him fall on his face. He quickly looked up knowing that he would be punished again but there was no one around and there was another boom but it wasn't as loud as the last one. Naruto looked around and once he didn't see anyone he ran, making his way outside in the pouring rain and he kept running till the orphanage wasn't in sight anymore. The memory soon faded and Ino was back in the hallway and once she saw Naruto she noticed that he now had his hood up and his face covered by darkness, she quickly ran up and hugged him. Naruto didn't hug her back or say anything as he walked up to the door that Ino was just in and closed it.

The door automatically locked itself as it closed. Naruto turned and looked at Ino. "Ready for the next one?" he asked and walked away. As they walked Ino looked at all of the different doors and that's when Satsuki spoke. "I pick that one with the Ramen." And just like the last one Naruto and Kyu unlocked the door and only Ino and Kyu walked in. But before Ino walked completely in she turned to look at Naruto. "Aren't you coming?" she asked. Naruto shook his head, "No because as you watch the memory it plays in my head so I don't need to be in there nor I would like to be in there." He replied as he sat down on the bench that was in the middle of the hallway. Ino walked inside and just like before the memory soon appeared. It was night time and the small whiskered boy was searching through trash cans, looking for food. Ino watched with a sad look in her eye then Ayame spoke. "I remember this! This is the first time that I met Naruto." She said as everyone turned their attention to her and then back to the screen. A small girl was sweeping the store when she heard rustling across the street. She quickly ran back inside scared, "Tou-san!" she yelled out.

Ino and Kyu turned and watched as Naruto tried to hide but his bright blonde hair stuck out. "Come on out little one, I won't hurt you." The man said as Ayame hid behind his leg. Naruto slowly walked out from behind the trash cans, covered in dirt. But when he stepped into the light Teuchi saw who it was and sighed. "Ever had Ramen before?" Teuchi asked as he motioned Naruto to follow. Naruto shook his head as he watched the man make the noodles. Ayame was curious now and walked up to Naruto, holding out her hand to introduce herself. Naruto flinched and took a step back; Teuchi saw and called Ayame over to help him. Naruto slowly made his way to a stool and sat down cautiously. When Teuchi was done cooking, he had Ayame bring him the bowl of Ramen as he started too wiped down the counter. "Th-thank you…" Naruto mumbled. Ayame just sat there smiling and staring at the dirty blonde boy as he ate.

"Ayame-chan stop starring at him so he can eat. Go finish sweeping." Teuchi ordered and Ayame pouted seeing how not many kids her age came in. Of course she had her friends from school but she spent all of her time at the shop so she didn't get time to meet or play with other children. "Where are your parents?" she asked as she swept. "I don't have an-" but before he could finish his sentence Ayame bombarded him with another question. "Where do you live?" but Naruto didn't answer instead he ran out of the stand, leaving an empty bowl behind. The memory faded to black and they were back in the hallway. "Ready?" Naruto asked as he stood up with his face hidden by a hood that he now had on. Ino did the only thing that she knew, she hugged him again. "I'm so sorry that happened to you." She whispered. Ino couldn't see because of the blackness that shrouded his face, but tears rolled down his cheeks. As they walked Ino stopped and saw a door that had her Ka-san's name on it. "Can I see this one?" Ino asked and Naruto didn't reply. He simply walked up to the door and placed his hand on it to unlock it.

As the door opened Ino was hesitant to walk in at first but walked in. Just like last time the pitch black turned into the memory. Ino watched as Naruto continued to pick through the garbage still in the same outfit but it was dirtier than last time. They were standing in an alley in what appeared to behind a restaurant. Just as she thought that a man wearing a chef outfit came out with a trash bag and threw it in the dumpster. Naruto's eyes were big and had a giant smile as he ran towards the dumpster. "Yay! Food!" he yelled out as he ran. Soon he filled up the trash can lid with discarded food that he picked out of the trash and ran through the town back to where he made a little home in an alleyway. Ino watched as a man bumped into Naruto making him spill the garbage on the man. "Oh I remember this! This is the day that Yoshino, Hina, Yuzuki and myself took Naruto in." Tsume said as she watched the memory unfold. Soon as the man was going to hit Naruto Ino saw Tsume and the others approach and save Naruto.

They quickly picked him up and took him to Yoshino's place where they washed, fed him and gave hime new clothes to wear. The memory faded and now they were inside of her living room and saw her Ka-san teaching Naruto how to read and write. Ino walked over and sat down next to Yuzuki and smiled as she watched. Taking in every moment, trying to memorize her voice and face but the memory faded and she was sitting in the hallway again. Naruto slowly walked up to her and placed his hand on her shoulder, "If you want I can put together all of my memories of her and record them for you." Ino look up at Naruto with tears in her eyes. She just nodded as she got up and continued to walk down the hallway. Next was Yugao, "I want to see that one of Au." Naruto turned to look at Kyu. 'I don't think I'm ready to see it though.' He said to her. Kyu nodded and the Kyu that was out of the seal understood. "That's a tough memory for Naruto to see so if you would kindly pick another." Kyu said as she looked at the purplette woman.

"I don't care! I didn't want him to peek on me in the hot springs and he did so he'll be fine." Yugao retorted making Kyu growl at how Yugao spoke to her. Tsume quickly spoke, "What about a compromise? How about if more than Yugao wanted to see it?" she asked. "Fine I'll accept that if they will." Naruto replied. Tsume and Kyu looked at Yugao and the others. They all agreed and Hinata decided to use her choice along with Yugao. Naruto walked up to the door and placed his hand on it just like the others but instead of one lock unlocking there was ten and when the door opened it sounded like it weighed a ton. Ino slowly walked inside and waited for the memory to start and when it did she found herself standing in her living room. She saw Naruto sitting on the couch watching television and heard her Ka-san and the others arguing in the next room. "Where are we going to put him? Because he can't stay here any longer." Yuzuki said. Naruto overheard them and started to tear up. "Ka-chan doesn't want me anymore." He sobbed out and quickly gathered his things into a backpack.

Before leaving the house he saw all of their purses on the table. "I hope that they don't mind…" he whispered as he took some money from all four purses. After he left the house he started to roam the streets again and before he knew it he was in the red light district. As he walked through the streets looking for a place to stay when he heard a woman. "Come on baby! Monsters are my specialty! Five hundred a night." She said making Naruto curious. He continued to walk until he reached an abandon apartment complex. He made his way up the stairs and into one of the apartments. Once inside he noticed how filthy it was and decided to clean. After a few hours of cleaning he made his way into the bedroom and was happy that it had a bed. He placed his backpack in the closet but as he started to walk out of the room the floorboard creaked, and gave him an idea.

'I better hide my money inside of there so if I do get robbed they won't take the money.' He thought as he peeled up the floor board and placed the money inside. After he put the flooring back together he made his way outside and looked for restaurants so that he could get their garbage. Soon Naruto was back at the apartment eating the food that he scavenged from the trash when he heard a loud boom of thunder. He quickly ran and hid in the bathtub shaking with fear. Tsume and Yoshino frowned as they watched Naruto shake with fear. "He was always afraid of thunder; he told us that the people from the orphanage told him that it was Kami mad at him." Tsume said making Tsunade even more pissed off. 'That's it!' Tsunade thought and summoned her Anbu. "Gather all the people in charge of the orphanage and arrest them till I get there." She ordered and the Anbu Shunshined away.

Tsunade and the others turned their attention back to the screen. The thunder had subsided and Naruto slowly climbed out of the tube, wiping away the tears that stained his cheeks. "I wished that my Ka-chan's were here with me but they don't want me anymore. Maybe the people from the orphanage was right and I'm actually a monster." He mumbled then his eyes got wide. "That lady! She said she loves monsters!" he yelled out as he ran out of the apartment trying to find that woman. Naruto ran through the streets and stopped with a large grin on his face. "I finally found you." He panted out. He then quickly ran up to the older girl with a large grin. "Hello miss…. Umm…. I heard that you like to sleep with monsters." Naruto said making the woman blush. "Go away kid! I'm not interested!" she yelled. Naruto was shocked and a little disappointed. "But I can pay you to sleep with a monster." And after he said that the woman was interested. 'Maybe his older brother or guardian sent him.' She thought. "Alright then it'll be five hundred." She said as she started to follow Naruto.

As they reached the apartment the woman was a little skeptical but went in. "Alright wait here while I get you the money." Naruto said as he hurried off to the bedroom and pulled up the floor board and grabbed more than five hundred. 'I hope that this is enough.' He thought wishing that Yuzuki taught him more numbers. Naruto ran out and gave the woman the money. "I hope that this is enough… I don't know how to count money yet. By the way what's your name?" he asked. The woman grinned as she looked at all of the money that the boy had just given her. "The name is Au, so I take it that the bedroom is through there." She said as she made her way towards the room. "Yea, make yourself at home while I go get ready." Naruto said as he hurried off to the bathroom. "I guess that he's going to get 'The monster'." Au giggled as she counted the money as she sat on the edge of the bed. Naruto then came back wearing a large shirt that went down pass his legs. It had the Inuzuka, Nara, Hyuga, and the Yamanaka clan emblems on the front.

"Alright I'm ready!" Naruto said happily and climbed up on the bed. He looked at a shocked Au and frowned as she held the money in her hands. "What's wrong? Did I not give you enough money?" he asked. Au placed the money on the night stand and started to leave. "Sorry kid but you're too young to be sleeping with women." Au said. As she walked away Naruto grabbed her arm to stop her. "B-but you said that you sleep with monsters and everyone calls me that and I-I'm scared and don't want to sleep alone. Please stay with me! I'll give you more money!" Naruto cried out. Au gave him a sullen look, 'He's so innocent he doesn't even know what he paid for! I know I'll test him.' Au thought as she made her way back to the bed and undressed down to nothing but her underwear. Naruto blushed but quickly ran to his backpack and pulled out another large shirt and gave it to Au. "Here! Since you don't have any pajamas." He said turning around so she could get dress. Au chuckled and quickly and put the shirt on, 'Well that confirms it. He just wants to sleep nothing else, I can do that.' She thought as she looked at Naruto's back. "You can turn around now." She said and Naruto turned around with a blush and quickly ran and jumped back onto the bed.

"Why did you get naked Au-chan?" he asked embarrassed. Au sighed knowing that he was still innocent, "Sorry about that kid, but I always sleep naked." She replied. Naruto gave her a foxy grin that made her blush, "That's alright Au-chan and my name's Naruto." He said. Au shut off the light and climbed in the bed and Naruto quickly snuggled up to her. "Good night Au-chan and thank you for sleeping with me." he whispered out. Au smiled and wrapped her arms around Naruto to pull him closer, "It's no problem and as of tonight you're my number one customer." She responded making Naruto purr in delight. Ino and the others watched as the memory faded. "Why wasn't Naruto ready to see that? It wasn't that bad." Tenten asked. "Because it's not over yet." Kyu replied, pointing to the monitor. Now they were outside and it was day time. Ino looked around and saw that both Naruto and Au were sitting on a bench sharing a Popsicle.

"Guess what Au-chan! The Hokage gave me a new apartment that is bigger and better so we can share. And he said that I can start the Academy soon and I'll be able to be a Shinobi and you won't have to work anymore!" Au smiled at Naruto and looked down at her watch and saw the time. "That sounds amazing Naruto but we'll talk more about it later. Our hour is up and I have to get back to work." Au said as she stood up. "That's fine; I have to go see the Hokage anyways. I'll see you later Au-chan!" Naruto yelled out as he waved goodbye to Au. That's when Anko recognized her and looked at Kurenai and the others. "We have to tell him!" she whispered out. Tsunade and the others overheard her. "Tell him what?" Tsunade asked and Anko was now sweating. "Umm… well Lord Third ordered us to threaten her to stay away from Naruto. We didn't know who she was or why he wanted us to do it." Anko confessed. "We'll talk about that more later." Tsunade whispered as she turned her attention back towards the screen.
