"Owes me an apology, he says," Kagome grumbled, removing her wet skirt and replacing it with something warm and dry. "Damn right he owes me an apology. And then some."

Fully dressed, Kagome stomped over to her door, whipping it open dramatically. She'd expected Sesshomaru to be there, so she wasn't surprised to find that he was.

With a deep breath and a heavy sigh, she moved and allowed him back into her room.

She watched him wander around her room for a moment, observing things, before she plopped down onto her bed, pulled her pillow into her lap and curled her arms around it.

"You were saying something about an apology?" She prompted and he turned to face her. His hair swayed around his calves, catching the ambient light of the room and giving it a golden glow.

Taking the few steps to the edge of her bed he gestured. "May I sit?"

"On the floor, sure."

"You would offer a lord the floor?" He asked with narrowed eyes.

"Lord of the West, or Lord of the Dead. You've invaded my life and my personal space. As far as I'm concerned, you're the Lord of Nothing. And the Lord of Nothing sits on the floor."

Pressing his lips together, he folded his hands into his sleeves. "I shall remain standing, oh gracious host."

Kagome couldn't believe it, but she felt her cheeks heat at the snub. Her mother might actually be appalled at her behavior, handsy ghost or no.

"Fine," she sighed, standing and pulling her desk chair out. She gestured to it. "You can sit here."

"How accommodating of you," Sesshomaru deadpanned, but took a seat.

"Not comfortable enough for your lordly behind?"

He grimaced before sighing. This was not going at all as planned.

"Let us begin again."

"I'm still waiting for that apology," she said, crossing her arms and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Then this one apologizes," he said abruptly. "It would seem that I…" Sesshomaru dropped his eyes to the pink rug beneath him. Admitting he had a weakness was not something he found easy to do. "It has been some time since I have had interactions with another person. I believe I may have acted in a…less than ideal way." He lifted his eyes and met hers again. "For that, I humbly ask your forgiveness."

Kagome's blue eyes seemed to soften before flashing with anger once more. She leaned forward. "And for touching me without my permission?"

"My apology was all-encompassing," he said blandly, leaning back in the chair and regarding her steadily. "As was my plea for forgiveness."

Sensing his stubbornness, she pinched her lips together and sat more fully on her bed.

To forgive or not?

He clearly needed a friend. And he wasn't likely to leave her be, apology or not.

Deciding that since he apologized, it was good enough for her, she straightened and smiled at him.

"Then we'll begin again," she said with a small, quick bow. "Friends?"

Sesshomaru's eyes widened, shocked that it'd been so easy to procure her forgiveness. As fiery as she'd been, he thought for certain she'd demand he groveled at her feet.

"Friends," he agreed softly, mind reeling.

Was she really so easily forgiving, this little miko?

Could they truly become friends, as she suggested?

Sesshomaru didn't know, but he'd certainly stick around to find out.
