Legendary Reunions
Chapter 1
Piplup stood above his completed sandcastle. The water Pokemon smiled to himself, obviously proud of his work. Grookey was playing with its stick nearby. When the grass monkey Pokemon got too close to the sandcastle, Piplup shouted at it and shouted out a warning to it. Grookey saw the sandcastle and got an idea. It went up to the castle and stuck its stick into it.
"Grookey!" The monkey stated proudly. Piplup was about to yell at again when he looked at it, deciding it looked better with the stick in it. The penguin Pokemon complimented the monkey. was proud of his contribution.
Suddenly, the sandcastle was destroyed when Cinderace's body landed on top of it. The penguin- like Pokemon was terrified by this.
"PIPLUP!" He screamed.
Dawn, Goh, Chloe and Ash looked as they heard the commotion. Pikachu tried to settle Piplup down. Eevee was concerned about Cinderace and asked if it was alright in Pokemon language. Cinderace was up on its feet, defending itself, but Piplup wasn't having it. The humans went over to the Pokemon. Grookey picked up its stick.
"Piplup, what are you so mad about?" Dawn asked her Pokemon. Piplup angrily pointed his flipper at Cinderace.
"Piplup, pip!" The Pokemon said.
"Cinderace ruined your sandcastle?" Dawn asked. Piplup nodded. The humans looked at Cinderace.
"Is this true, Cinderace?" Goh questioned his Pokemon. "Did you wreck Piplup's sandcastle? Why would you do such a thing? Normally, Grookey is the one who would pull a thing like this, but you? I find it hard to believe."
"Cinderace! Cinderace!" Cinderace tried to explain
"I…I don't understand." Goh said. "What are you trying to say? I want to understand, but I don't." Cinderace sighed and frowned.
"Cinder." The fire rabbit Pokemon said sadly. It wished Its trainer would understand too.
The trainers and Pokemon all heard evil laughter. They all looked around, trying to find the source.
"Uh, Ash?" Goh asked him. "Doesn't that evil laughter sound familiar to you?"
"Yeah." Ash replied. "It does sound familiar." Suddenly, Gengar appeared in front of Piplup.
"Gengar!" The Ghost type Pokemon shouted. Piplup screamed and ran to hide behind Dawn.
"Gengar?" Ash questioned out loud..
"What's happening here?" Goh wanted to know. "I'm seriously confused. I wish I could get a simple explanation."
"So do I." Chloe agreed. "Unfortunately, none of us speak the language of our Pokemon so I don't think we will get one soon." Cinderace began to argue with Gengar. Piplup then realized something. He then frowned and seemed to apologize to Cinderace. Cinderace looked at Piplup and smiled.
"Cinderace." The rabbit Pokemon seem to forgive Piplup for it gave him a thumbs up. Piplup accepted the apology. He went over to Gengar and began to argue.
"Gengar." The Pokemon said sadly. Chloe thought about this.
"I think I get what this is about now." She said, which confused her friends.
"You do, Chloe?" Dawn asked. "What?"
"So Piplup made the sandcastle, then Gengar scared Cinderace, thus accidentally making it destroy the sandcastle that Piplup made." She looked at Cinderace. "Isn't that right, Cinderace?" Cinderace nodded, happy that someone actually got what went down. Goh was shocked.
"But how could you possibly have gotten that?" Chloe looked at him.
"Simple." She answered. "Being a daughter to a Pokemon professor has got its perks."
"Gengar!" Ash scolded it. "Scaring Pokemon like that isn't nice. Say you're sorry to Piplup." Gengar apologized to Piplup. "Now to Cinderace." Gengar did the same to Cinderace. Ash smiled. "See? Now that's better." Dawn bent down to her sad Piplup.
"I'm sorry your sandcastle got destroyed." She said to him. "I bet it was a wonderful sandcastle."
"Pip." A sad Piplup agreed.
"I think we better go and find a place to stay for the night." Chloe told them all. "It's getting pretty late." Everyone agreed.
"We just camp out whenever it was time to go to bed when I travelled with Ash and Brock." Dawn said to Chloe.
"I wonder how Brock is these days." Ash said, "In fact, I wonder how all of my friends are doing."
"We seem to be seeing them a lot lately." Goh observed. He then got an idea. "Hey, I know! Maybe we should ask the professor for a day off so that we can have a reunion with all of your friends," Ash looked at Goh.
"A reunion?" He asked. Goh nodded.
"My family always has them in the summer."
"I think that's a great idea!" Dawn said. "I only met Cilan, Iris, May and of course, Brock. I can't wait to see more of Ash's friends."
"And I bet Dad will totally be on board with this plan." Chloe put in. She looked at her Eevee. "And I bet if they had Eevees, it'll help Eevee decide what it wants to be, right, Eevee?"
"Eevee!" Her Eevee agreed with a nod. Ash looked at Pikachu on his shoulder.
"What do you think, buddy?" He wanted to know. "Should we have this reunion with all of our friends?"
"Pika!" The electric rodent agreed. Ash smiled.
"Then it's settled then! We'll go back to Kanto and ask Professor Cerise for a reunion with our friends!"
"Piplup and I could come back to Kanto with you guys." Dawn suggested. The friends were confused.
"You don't have anything to do?" Ash asked.
"What about Eterna City?" Chloe wanted to know. "What about the contest? And don't tell me 'no need to worry.'" Dawn looked embarrassed.
"Oops; I had so much fun with you guys hanging out here at the beach that it completely slipped out of my mind."
"How about this?" Ash spoke. "Chloe, Goh and I will fly back to Kanto, we ask Professor Cerise and call you and tell you what he says, kay?" Dawn nodded with a smile.
"Sounds like a plan to me!"
"Then we'll see each other real soon?"
"Really soon!" He and Dawn did their signature hi- five as Piplup and Pikachu did their hugs.
It was much sooner then they all expected. Professor Cerise agreed and when Ash called and invited all of his friends, they said they all could see each other the following Saturday. And so that is what they did.
Misty, being in Kanto already, was the first one to arrive. Pikachu cried out with joy and leapt into the Gym Leader's arms. Misty was thrilled to see the electric rodent too.
"Pikachu!" She cried. "I missed you so much! Are you keeping an eye on Ash and makes sure he doesn't get in too much trouble?"
"Pika" The rodent replied.
"Good to hear." She looked up at Ash. After their greeting, Ash introduced her to Chloe and Goh.
"Pleasure to meet you all." Misty said.
"So, Misty?" Ash asked. "How did you convince all of your sisters to come?" Misty looked at him.
"They wanted me to stay and manage the Gym on my own while they go do their own things. But I was assertive. I looked at each one of them in the eyes and said 'I'm my own girl! I have stuff that I want to do to. It's my life and no one can say what I can't and can do, not even you guys!'" Ash and the others were shocked.
"And they allowed you to come?" Chloe asked.
"Pretty much, yeah!"
"Wow!"
"I'm so lucky I don't have siblings to go through that." Ash said. "Talk about a nightmare!"
"Yeah." Goh agreed. "I'm lucky too." He then muttered under his breath. "If Mom and Dad had any more children, my parents would still be too busy for them as well."
"So Misty, where's Brock? Isn't he coming?"
"You know he's a Pokemon Doctor, Ash." Misty told him. "He's probably nursing a sick Pokemon back to health." Ash realized that she was right.
"Oh, yeah. You have a point there I guess. It's best that he stays and help out."
"You're right about that." She then smiled. "I'm sure he'll be here soon enough." Ash brightened at that.
"Yeah! In the meantime, we have our other friends!"
Soon after, Tracy, May, Max, Dawn and Ash's other long term traveling companions arrived, all but Brock. Pikachu gladly greeted their Pokemon.
"Guys," Ash spoke. "It's good to see you all in one room. Some, I reunited with recently, but for the others, I haven't seen in a long time. It feels like years."
"Well, it's always good to see your past friends again." Dawn stated. "And to learn all of the exciting things they had accomplished and are accomplishing right now."
"Piplup." Piplup agreed.
"You're right about that." Ash agreed as well. "It's always so exciting and nice."
"Pikachu!" The mouse put in.
"Even though I've met some of you before," Goh began. "I'm thrilled to see you all again. And I'm thrilled to see all of Ash's other friends. I can't wait to get to know you all and hear stories of your past travels with Ash."
"Gookey!" Grookey agreed..
"I can't wait either." Ash looked at Tracy.
"So Tracy, how's Bulbasaur?"
"Why don't you ask that question to Bulbasaur, Ash?" He questioned. Ash was confused.
"Huh?" He wanted to know. "What do you mean?" Tracy stepped to the side and Ash saw his Bulbasaur. Ash grinned from ear to ear.
"Bulbasaur!" He cried.
"Bulbasaur!" The grass Pokemon said, running to his former trainer. Ash bent down to pet him.
"How are you doing, Bulbasaur?" Ash asked. "Keeping all of the Pokemon at Professor Oak's lab in line?"
"Bulbasaur!" The Pokemon agreed.
"That's great! Keep up the good work and keep making me proud!"
"Bulba!"
The humans talked to each other while all of their Pokemon played. Ash smiled. He couldn't believe that this was really happening.
"Thanks Goh for suggesting this." Ash thanked him. "We're so busy helping out at Professor Cerise's that I forget to slow things down."
"No problem, Ash." Goh said to him. "Sometimes you have to take things slow. The jobs we're doing at Professor's Cerise's and now my work at Project Mew, are good jobs, but it's nice to relax now and then. If you work too much, it can be very stressful at times, so it's really good not to be stressed out so much. Too much stress isn't good on anyone."
"I agree with you there."
"And I have to be thanking you, Ash. I didn't have many friends to begin with, but now I do! Making friends was so hard for me in the past, but you make it look so easy."
"That's because it is. You just have to know how."
"I guess it is."
"Sorry I'm late." Brock said to Ash when he arrived a short time later. "I was nursing a sick Pokemon back to health."
"Misty said you might be doing that." Ash said.
"Well, she's right. I was. I figured it's better to help out a Pokemon in need before coming here."
"Good call. Helping sick or injured Pokemon should be a Pokemon doctor's number one priority first before doing anything else, even if that's something you also love like seeing your friends that you haven't seen in a long time because you know that they will understand." Brock nodded and gave him a thumbs up.
"You got it." Clemont. Mallow and Cilan then approached from behind.
"Ash," Cilan said to him. "Clemont, Mallow and I were talking and we found something that we all have in common."
"It turns out that we all love to cook." Clemont continued. "So we all got to talking…"
"And we decided that we all should cook lunch!" Mallow concluded. "And have people compare who is the better cook. Isn't that cool?" Ash nodded.
"I think that's a great idea!" Ash agreed. "Although if I remember, you were all great cooks in your own ways. It'll be impossible to decide." Mallow smiled.
"Aw, Ash, you're just being modest."
"Well, it's the truth." Brock then realized something.
"Hey, I know you!" He said to Cilan. "From the Lake of Rage in Johto. I wanted your name, but guess I didn't think of it at the time."
"Funny, same thing for me." Cilan admitted. "Well then, I'm Cilan." He took a bow. So did Brock.
"And I'm Brock."
"Cilan helped me get my sister and Dedenne back when they got struck on a runaway train." Clemont stated.
"About that cooking thing, Cilan." Brock told him. "Remember, I told you that I'm a cook too. I can also cook up some of my famous dishes."
"Perfect!" Cilan agreed. "With different chefs doing their own cooking, the food will all have different and unique flavors."
"Yay!" Mallow cheered. "This will be fun!"
"It sure will." Clemont agreed. "I can't wait! And I'm sure Serena will make the Pokepuffs for all of the Pokemon."
"I can't decide which food is better." Bonnie said after tasting food from Brock, Mallow, Cilan and her brother. "They're all so yummy!"
"Dedenne!" Dedenne agreed.
"I'm so glad to hear that." Clemont said to her sister. "Because I'd hate it if you had liked someone else's food better." Bonnie looked at Brock.
"Hey, Brock?"
"Yes, Bonnie?" Brock asked.
"Do you make foods that you know that your siblings don't like? My brother makes me eat carrots and I hate them." Clemont felt embarrassed about this.
"Well, no. But eating your veggies is good for you. Your brother is only looking out for you and wants you to eat healthy." Bonnie sighed.
"I guess. It isn't fair though. He hates peas and I don't make him eat peas, yet I have to eat yucky carrots?"
"When you are the chef," Clemont told her sister. "…you can make your own food."
"I'll be too busy as a Pokemon trainer battling lots of Pokemon with Dedenne." Bonnie stated. "I wouldn't have time to cook."
"Me too!" Max piped up.
"Well, first, you need a Pokemon to battle other Pokemon." Max grew irritated about this.
"I know that! I'm not an idiot. I don't just throw Pokeballs at random Pokemon, hoping to catch them. I know I have to weaken them first."
"I don't do that." Goh admitted. Bonnie looked at Goh. Max did too. They were both shocked.
"What?!" Bonnie wanted to know.
"You don't?!" Max asked as well. Goh nodded.
"Yeah. I like the thrill of just catching Pokemon. Battling just takes more time away and it's much more easier this way. That's just how I like it! Why look for a challenge when there's an easy way out?"
"That's no way to become a Pokemon trainer!" An angry Max shouted. "You said you just joined Project Mew? What if you have to battle? Your Pokemon will be weak! You have to battle if you want your Pokémon to become stronger!"
"Now I…" Goh began.
"Max is right!" Bonnie raised her voice as well. "You have to bond with your Pokemon as well. If that was the only way you had to do to catch Pokemon, that's super boring. That's no fun. That's not why me, Max and other kids our age want to become one. No one wants to witness anyone doing that. It gets boring pretty quick and why people may dislike you."
"Now, Bonnie," Clemont began.
"I wanted to become a Pokemon trainer long before my travels with Ash." Bonnie continued. "And every day that I have traveled with him with my brother, I wanted it even more and more. And I think I can say the same for Max, right, Max?" Max nodded.
"That's right. I must admit, I didn't like it when my daddy lost to Ash and he got the gym badge for it. I took it and ran into the closet, not wanting to give it to him. My daddy is my hero and that's why I took it hard seeing him lose like that. That was the first time I saw him lose a gym match and it was just too much. But I got convinced that I was wrong. Winning isn't everything. You have to lose if you ever want to improve and get stronger and get closer to your Pokemon. That's how most Pokemon evolve, by getting strong in battles. What you are doing is pathetic and you are not even trying."
"Max!" May scolded. Max looked at his sister.
"I'm sorry, but it's true, May." He told her. "He makes me so mad. It's an insult. He doesn't deserve to travel with Pokemon. He doesn't deserve to be a part of Project Mew. He doesn't deserve anything. He needs to go home and continue his studies in school, because he clearly isn't learning enough."
"Max, what you just said right now is downright awful! Now apologize to Goh right now."
"You too, Bonnie." Clemont added to his sister. "I thought you moved passed this. What people do is their business and their business alone. Now we may disagree with them, but we have to be respectful and let them live their lives whatever they see fit."
"That's right." May agreed. She looked at Goh. "Goh, I'm very sorry about my brother." She bowed to him.
"And I'm sorry about my sister." Clemont put in. He did the same.
"I'm not the least bit sorry." Max stated, hands over chest. Bonnie did the same,
"Me neighter." Bonnie agreed. Both May and Clemont were irate at their young siblings. Goh clenched his fist, trying very hard not to lose it.
"Can I just say something?" He asked. They all looked at him. He looked at the two young kids. "I'm sorry I'm not the one you both envisioned. I'm sorry I don't catch Pokemon in the way that other trainers do. I'm sorry I don't battle as much. But the truth is, I do battle and my Pokemon evolve and become stronger. That's how I got Cinderace and Drizzle, who spends most of its time in a cave hence why it isn't here right now. I'm sorry that you two don't like it, but that's ok. People have different opinions on things all of the time and it won't and never will affect me. This was my choice, my path in life and I will continue to live it however I want. I might change, who knows? I can't see myself doing that, but it could happen." He raised his hand into the air, smiling. "It's my reality, my future! And I can hold that future in the palm of my hand!"
"So you were mad that your daddy lost to Ash?" Bonnie wanted to know of Max, ignoring Goh. "I wasn't upset when my brother lost to Ash."
"Well, a brother is different than your father." Max said.
"That's true." Bonnie said. Goh was annoyed by this.
"Did you hear what I said?!" He commanded.
"Yeah." Bonnie admitted. "But we still aren't going to change our minds." Goh was still mad, but again, tried to keep his cool.
"Hey, I have an idea!" Max piped up. "Why don't you prove yourself in a Pokemon Battle?"
"Pokemon battle?" Goh asked.
"Yeah!" Bonnie agreed. "That's a great idea! You can battle with someone here. Show us what you got!"
"Dedenne!" Dedenne agreed.
"I think a Pokemon battle is a great idea!" Ash said to Goh. "I haven't seen you battle in a while."
"You don't have to, of course." Clemont said to Goh. "You can do whatever you want."
"What?!" Bonnie questioned. "He should battle! I want to see it!"
"Yeah!" Max added. "If he ever wants to get stronger, he needs to have a battle!"
"Yeah." May agreed with Clemont, ignoring her brother and Bonnie."You don' t have to cave into the pressure." Goh smiled and shook his head.
"No, I'll battle." He stated. Max and Bonnie cheered.
"You sure?" Clemont wanted to know. Goh looked at him and nodded.
"I'm sure. Max is right. If I ever want to get stronger, I need to have a battle." Clemont smiled.
"Well, I guess you're right. Ok, if you want to." Goh looked at at Grookey, not knowing that it wasn't there.
"Grookey, do you…" He looked all around. "Grookey, where did you run off too?"
"Never you mind about Grookey." Ash said to Goh. "I'm sure it's nearby. You just have that battle." Goh was a little unsure about this, but nodded in agreement. He looked at Cinderace instead,
"Cinderace? You want to be my battling partner?"
"Cinderace." The Pokemon said with a nod.
"But Goh, who would you battle?" Ash asked. Goh looked at him.
"I was thinking of having one with you, Ash. That ok?" Ash smiled with a nod.
"Sounds great to me! However, I won't go easy on you."
"I won't want you to." Ash looked at Pikachu.
"Want to battle Goh and Cinderace, buddy?"
"Pikachu." Pikachu said with a nod.
"Then that settles that then."
"I'll be the referee." Brock said.
"Alright, Brock." Ash said to him. "You do that."
Goh and Cinderace went into their positions on the grass, as did Pikachu and Ash.
"This is a one- on- one battle between Ash and Goh." Brock announced. "The battle will be over if either Pokemon are unable to battle. Begin!"
"You may begin, Ash." Goh told his friend.
"Okay then." Ash said. "We will then. Pikachu, use Quick Attack." Pikachu nodded, did his cry and sped toward Cinderace with said attack.
"Cinderace, you use Ember." Cinderace nodded, bounced a pebble on its foot and kicked it, doing an Ember attack.
"Pikachu, dodge!" Pikachu dodged the attacks while still speeding towards Cinderace.
"Cinderace, dodge it!" Cinderace tried to dodge, but Pikachu was too fast and rammed into Cinderace. Cinderace skidded back a bit and kept his footing. Pikachu went back into position.
"Cinderace, you okay?" Goh asked.
"Cinderace." Cinderace said. Goh smiled and looked determined again. "Now Cinderace, use…" There was then an explosion in the distance. Everyone was confused.
"Clemont?" Bonnie wanted to know, running into her brother's arms. "What was that big explosion?"
"Don't know." Her brother answered. They looked in the distance and gasped. They all saw Mewtwo soar away from the blast site.
"Isn't that…?" Goh began to ask when they then saw Entei and Raikou running. They then saw a Latios, a Latias, an Uxie, a Mesprit, and an Azelf soaring in the distance too.
"I wonder what's going on." Ash wondered out loud. "Let's go see!"
"Wait, Ash!" Brock called after him. "It might be dangerous!" He ran after him. So did his other friends. Iris sighed.
"Ash, always sticking his nose into something where it doesn't belong." But she ran off too.
Max then heard a voice that he hasn't heard in a long time. Still he recognized who it was calling out for him.
"Help, Max, help!" The voice cried out.
"Jirachi." The boy said to himself. He then heard and saw a motorcycle. On the motorcycle was the motorist, but in the sidecar was a chrysalis, and. Max's heart skipped a beat. "Jirachi!" He ran off after the motorist.
"Wait!" Bonnie cried out to Max, running after him. "You're supposed to stay here!" Goh saw the two kids running off. He was about to tell Clemont and May, who both were so busy running that they didn't notice their siblings running off, when he saw Mew in the sky too. Mew! He then saw Mew soar off in the same direction as the kids.
"Cinderace!" He yelled at the rabbit. "Come; I may need you!" Cinderace looked at its trainer and ran after him.
Meowth, Jessie and James saw everything as they all were hiding behind some nearby bushes.
"I wonder where the twerps are running off too." Jessie wondered out loud.
"Don't you have ears?!" Meowth said to her. "They're checking out that explosion and all of those legendaries." Jessie looked determined.
"We should go too." James and Meowth were both shocked at this.
"Wait, Jess, it could be dangerous." James told her.
"Yeah!" Meowth added. "Like that original tall twerp said."
"I don't care! Where there are legendaries, we steal!" With that, she ran off as well. James and Meowth ran after her.
Grookey and its new friend, Quaxly, who were also in the bushes, poked their heads out.
"Grookey?" The monkey Pokemon asked itself. It was then determined and ran after Team Rocket. Quaxly panicked.
"Quaxly!" The duck Pokemon shouted after Grookey, Quaxly was worried, but chose to go after the grass monkey, not knowing, like everyone else about the dangers to come.
