Chapter Eight: Hawkmoth's Helper
Although his nerves started to calm down, Chat Noir still felt extremely anxious. He knew that he wasn't gonna run into her tonight, but that feeling just kept growing. He was glad that Ladybug hadn't picked up on it yet. He didn't want to explain why he was feeling this way or what was making him so nervous.
After his father's arrest, she disappeared which was probably for the better. He would have been too angry to confront her after everything that went down. Besides getting the basic information out of her, he wanted to ask her a few other questions.
About an hour later, the lights in her apartment flickered on. She walked in and put her stuff down. He watched her movements closely. Her movements were slow. It was almost as if she was thinking about what her next move should be. She was being cautious. Why, though? It was almost as if she knew that she was being watched.
"What are you doing, Natalie?"
Natalie walked into her kitchen. She grabbed the tea kettle from off the counter. She walked over to the sink and put water in the tea kettle. Natalie moved to the stove. She turned the stove on and put the tea kettle on. She sat on a barstool and watched the tea kettle boil.
Natalie just kept staring and staring and staring and staring. From the outside, she seemed completely normal. She seemed like she had everything together. She seemed like everything was fine and nothing was wrong. But that was a lie.
How could everything be fine when that witch was watching her every move?! Natalie took a deep breath. She had to control her emotions. She couldn't slip up. Especially not when she was watching her. Natalie looked out the window. The city lights usually calmed her right down. Except only this time there was something outside. Something that could lead to big trouble further down the line. Her next move had to be cautious. She had to be careful if she wanted to make contact with Ladybug and Chat Noir.
Chat Noir froze in place. Natalie looked him straight in the eyes. Her expression was blank as if he wasn't even there. But he knew that she saw him. They held eye contact before she got up and stood in front of a calendar that hung up on the fridge.
She was angled so that they could see the calendar. She pointed to the Friday of that week. Natalie then looked up towards the clock. Chat checked the time on his watch. 6:34 p.m. She then sat back down and continued to watch her teapot boil. That's when everything clicked.
"She knows we're watching her."
Ladybug looked at him. "What?"
"Natalie knows that we're watching her. She wants us to meet her this upcoming Friday at exactly 6:34 p.m. There's something she wants to tell us."
