The meet everyone was going to got cancelled and they turned around. After they arrived back in Beacon Hills Boyd informs Scott and Isaac that Derek is hurt but still alive. Derek actually went to the school teacher he met when he went looking for Scott for help and she watched over him while he healed after freaking out for a short while, when he reveals that he is a werewolf to her by shifting to heal faster. Once Derek was out of the woods he and Jennifer somehow ended up in a relationship.
|Two days later evening -Beacon Hills hospital|
"Oh thank god, I'm starving." Melissa says, accepting the food container Scott presents to her.
"Oh sorry, thank you for bringing me dinner." She adds, making Scott smirk.
"It's not problem, is everything OK here?" Scott asks, looking around the overfilled hospital corridors.
"Except for half the patients of a 10-mile run up downtown being rerouted here and the ER attending being missing." Melissa tells him stressed out.
"What do you mean missing?" Scott asks.
"I mean he's not answering his pager and we have to wait for an on-call doctor to get here." She replies.
"Excuse me, can I please have something for the pain?" An older woman asks Melissa while holding her side.
"I'm sorry, actually giving you something could complicate things, so here please take a seat and try to relax." Melissa tells her and leads the woman over to a row of chairs nearby.
"Let me help mom." Scott says and helps the woman the rest of the way to the chairs, using his ability to absorb some of the woman's pain, making her look at him with a stupefied expression.
A moment later Ethan arrives at the hospital entrance and yells for someone to help him while he's almost dragging Danny over his shoulder with the tall teen grasping for the wall with his free hand to keep himself upright.
Melissa and Scott immediately rush to their side and the two take Danny of Ethan and set him down in a chair.
"What did you do to him?" Scott asks Ethan dangerously, turning to look at the alpha werewolf with his eyes turning a dim red color.
"Nothing, he said he was having chest pains and trouble breathing, it just kept getting worse." Ethan informs them.
"This is not good." Melissa tells them, checking Danny, who is barely able to breathe over.
Danny then hunches over, falling to his knees and vomits on the floor, a handful of berries amongst the vomit.
"Mistletoe." Ethan says shocked and Scott looks at the werewolf with surprise before helping his mother bring Danny to a patient room and lie him on a hospital bed.
"Can you two please go back to the waiting room?" Melissa requests from Scott and Ethan.
"Where are all the nurses and the doctors?" Ethan asks nervously when Ethan is lying on the bed with no one but Melissa attending him.
"It's a full house tonight, they're tending to other patients." She informs him.
"Mom, how can we help?" Scott asks hoping to be of use.
"You can't. His lung is collapsed." Melissa tells him.
"Is he gonna die?" Scott asks worried.
"No, Scott you grab that tape and you cut off his shirt." Melissa instructs the two teens while she gets a syringe with a large needle.
Ethan rips the shirt off Danny, whose breath is starting to fade.
"Uhm, I'm not trying to rush but he's not breathing." Scott tells his mother, while trying to stay calm and fighting against the impulse to bite Danny to give him a chance to make it.
"I know." She replies and takes the syringe, pushing it deep into Danny's chest and slowly pulls on the back of it, making Danny relax at being able to breathe better.
"Thank you." Danny thanks her, almost in tears.
"You were great mom." Scott tells his mother, giving her a relieved hug while she puts away the syringe, she pulled out of Danny again.
A couple minutes later Scott is on his way to his bike at the hospital parking lot but sees Ethan following him.
"I know you're not going to believe me, but I didn't do anything." Ethan starts the conversation.
"All I know is the moment you got here you went for Danny and your brother tried to make his move on Lydia." Scott says.
"We're not going to hurt him." Ethan replies.
"Why should I believe you?" Scott questions.
"Because we knew one of them was going to be important to you and it is quite obvious who that is." Ethan tells him, patting Scott on the arm with his tattoo once.
Scott sees a car swerving from side to side in the background and puts away the helmet, he fetched before Ethan talked to him.
Ethan follows his line of sight and the two see the car crash into a parked car. They take off in a run for the car, only to open the doors to see the car being empty, safe for a lone dead butterfly.
Scott goes inside to inform his mother of what happened, while Ethan stays with Danny and Melissa calls Stiles father, to have him and the rest of the police searching for the missing doctor, whose car Scott found.
The next morning at Derek´s loft he gets woken when Cora enters his apartment and they see that the alpha pack left their symbol on his windows, meaning they are going to paying him a visit tonight.
Meanwhile at the McCall residence Melissa wakes up in her bed, only to get a shock when three teens are lying asleep in her room. Lyida is lying in a chair, Scott is lying spread out in front of her door and Isaac is lying at Lydia´s feet, a hand resting on one of the the girls legs.
"Guys!" Melissa says loudly, waking the three teens.
"What do you think you´re doing?" Melissa asks while Lydia is prying Isaac´s hand off her while he is trying to stand up, only to fall back to the floor when Lydia pushes away his hand.
"We were watching over you to make sure you´re not the third sacrifice." Scott tells her, stepping on Issac´s back annoyed because Isaac felt up his girlfriend during the night.
"But all of you were asleep." Melissa says.
"You were on watch last." Scott tells Isaac, lifting his foot once only to bring it back down on his back.
"What are you talking about, you were on watch last." Isaac replies with a painful grunt.
"No, you were on watch last." Scott repeats himself, rolling the beta over with his foot.
"I might´ve been on watch last." Isaac admids and Scott offers him a hand, pulling him up.
"My heroes. But didn´t you say they were all doctors? Cuz I don´t have a MD attached anywhere on my name so I should be in the clear." Melissa questions.
"Any kind of healer is a target." Lydia informs the woman, getting out of her chair and roaming her hand over her stiff neck.
"Well I´m not gonna get attacked while I´m on shift today so get your butts to school." Melissa tells the group and throws them out of her room.
"Can I get a lift?" Isaac asks the couple once they are in the 2nd floor´s hallway.
"Sure." Lydia agrees with a sigh and enters Scott´s room, pulling Scott along behind her.
"Thanks." Scott thanks her in Isaac´s place.
"I know he´s one of your best friends and all, but he really has a talent for being a mood killer." Lydia complains, rubbing her neck again.
"I know I know, but to be honest I´m glad he´s staying here. That means we got two super powered people protecting you and my mom." Scott tells her, pulling her towards his bed and making her sit down on it with him sitting behind her as he starts to massage her shoulders.
"Just make sure this isn´t a long-term situation or at least let's stay at my house once this whole ritual killing and Alpha-pack situation is dealt with." Lydia tells him, leaning further back into his hands as he massages her.
"Sure. But first things first. We need to get ready for school, even geniuses can get tardies." Scott tells her, giving her a peck on her lips before he disappears into his bathroom where he brushes his teeth.
|An hour later at school|
Scott and Stiles are sitting in chemistry class, where Jennifer Blake is substituting because Harris´s replacement is also amongst the sacrifices.
Stiles informs Scott of what his father discovered, which is that the doctor didn´t die from being strangled but still suffocated. He also tells him that there are at least 20 doctors in the hospital if they next target is even amongst them. As fate would have it in that moment Deaton calls Scott and tells him that he needs Scott to find him because he is going to be taken.
|animal clinic- an hour later|
Scott and Stiles arrive at the animal clinic, having told Jennifer that there is a family emergency. When they get there Sherriff Stilinski and a deputy are already there and inform them that Deaton really seems to have vanished. Scott and Stiles discuss whether or not they should tell Stiles´ father about what really is going on or not and decide to do it before its too late but before they can drop the supernatural bomb on the man Deaton´s sister, their guidance counselor stops them and tells them that they have to find Deaton and says that Lydia is their best chance.
The two boys make their way to school and find Lydia being interrogated by Cora, who knows that Aiden is trying to get close to her.
"Let go!" Lydia tells Cora who is holding one of her arms in a tight grip.
"Let her go." Scott tells Cora in a demanding tone, arriving in the locker room the girls were in through a back door.
"Or what? I don´t care that you are a big-shot alpha. You almost killed my brother and one of the twins want her and I want to know why." Cora replies pissed off.
"First of all, it´s not me you should be careful off . Second of all, I didn´t kill Derek so no harm done regarding the fact that he actually tried to kill me without being turned feral and lastly they want to get to Lydia because they want me and figure that if they control Lydia I´ll do their bidding." Scott tells her and nods towards Lydia, who already has her Kanima dagger positioned at the girls arm while she was paying attention to Scott.
"So what you have a crappy attempt at a dagger?" Cora says dismissively.
"Well, it´s not an ordinary dagger, it´s filled with Kanima poison." Lydia tells her, making Cora release Lydia´s arm and take a step back.
Scott then hears a clacking noise and Deucalions voice saying his name.
"Lydia, can you try to find Deaton with your powers? I need to be somewhere." Scott says, already heading for the door.
"How am I supposed to…" Lydia asks but Scott already disappeared before she can finish.
"Oh, he´s so going to regret that." Lydia scoffs before turning to Stiles and Cora. The three then head to an empty classroom where Stiles tries to get Lydia to find Deaton with multiple psychic parlor tricks. But that gets them nowhere.
"Why are you even asking me where he is? What did Danny say?" Lydia asks.
"Why Danny?" Stiles questions.
"Because Scott said he was a target, but he certainly isn´t a healer. That means he knows something and someone tried to silence him." Lydia explains.
"You´re right. We need to question Danny." Stiles says and is about to head out, expecting Lydia to come.
"Oh, I´m waiting for Scott. I´m not stupid enough to go to the person who´s a target without any protection." Lydia tells Stiles, crossing her arms.
"Good idea, let´s wait for him.
Meanwhile Scott followed the clanking sound to the music room and sees Deucalion sitting at the piano, tapping it with his cane in a steady rhythm.
"Do you know what a metronome is Scott? It´s a tool to help you maintain a steady rhythm once you set a tempo. Something tells me the tempo of your life has sped up considerably in the last few hours. I could help slow it down if you´d like." Deucalion offers.
"How?" Scott asks suspicious of the alpha-pack leader.
"By finding Deaton." Deucalion replies.
"Your heart is pounding, but it´s not because you´re afraid of me but because you´re afraid of yourself." Deucalion says, getting up from his seat.
"Smart boy. Tell you what, if you can take the cane from me I´ll tell you where Deaton is, even though I´m not the one who took him." Deucalion suggests.
Scott immediately tries to grab it and has to dodge a kick from Deucalion, by rolling underneath the leg. He jumps up behind the werewolf and attempts to kick him in this back but Deucalion turns around with the swing of his leg and blocks the kick with his cane.
"Not bad, but we both know if you want this, you´re going to have to tap into that power of yours." Deucalion tells him, taking off the cap from his cane, showing Scott the silver-bladed tip.
Scott charges at Deucalion, intending to tackle the man, but Deucalion turns to the side and shoves Scott away from him.
Scott turns around to face Deucalion again and barely dodges the tip of the cane, which scratches his cheek and stabs into the wall beside him, with Deucalion holding it like a fencer.
"Not bad, but you can do so much more. Well let´s make this clear, I´m not a druid, killing people randomly and offering them to some deity. I am part of a pack that wants Derek and you dead though, If you continue to disregard our invitation." Deucalion tells him, putting the cap back on his cane.
"Well, there is a difficult choice you have to make tonight, you can save Derek or Deaton. Not both." Deucalion tells him.
"Just tell me where he is." Scott says.
"I´m going to give you a very important clue. Let the current guide you." Deucalion tells him and walks out of the room.
Scott wipes the blood from his already healed cheek and steps out of the room once he hears that Deucalion is gone.
Scott listens for Lydia and Stiles and follows their voices to the room they are waiting in.
"Where did you disappear to?" Lydia asks Scott demandingly.
"I had a run in with Deucalion." Scott tells them, getting Cora on edge immediately.
"What did he want?" Stiles asks.
"He told me that I have to chose to either safe Derek or to save Deaton, He said I can´t safe both." Scott informs them.
"So what are you going to do?" Cora asks him.
"For now we still have to figure out where Deaton is, we can decide then how we´re going to handle the situation. Plus Issac texted me and said that they are preparing a trap for the alpha pack, maybe your brother won´t need my help, not that I´m sure I´d be a big help anyways." Scott tells her.
"What do you mean you won´t be a big help?" You´re more powerful than any of them, except for Deucalion and I´m sure if you team up with Derek you can take him down together." Cora asks him confused.
"I… I don't know if I can control myself when I shift. You saw what happened at the mall." Scott tells her fearfully.
"I thought you were the posterboy for control, at least with your girly around." Cora says annoyed.
"That was before Deucalion forced half his power in me. When I shift, I´m not sure I can keep the part of me Deucalion´s ability has taken under control." Scott explains to the group while looking at his hands.
"You´re going to have to face that part sooner or later Scott." Lydia tells him, taking his hand and staring into his eyes, having full confidence that he can do it.
"Let´s just hope it´s going to be later." Scott sighs and gives her a weak hug before breaking it and getting filled in that they decided to see why Danny was attacked.
When the group is leaving Stiles gets a text from Allison, telling him to meet her at her apartment and that she may have a lead on where Deaton could be.
