It was a beautiful day in Bellwood. Birds were singing. Flowers were blooming. On days like these, kids like Benjamin Kirby Tennyson should be sleeping. It was 3 A.M. on a school night after all, and thanks to nights like these, he was having a hard time keeping his grades up. It wasn't like he could avoid it though. Earlier that night, he had saved Earth... again. This time, it was Diagon. It wasn't all bad, though. He had been deemed worthy of the official omnitrix after the fight, and he had been told it was a lot less glitchy than the ultimatrix. He was about to salvage his sleep schedule, when a figure stepped out of Ben's bedroom and offered a gumball. Upon seeing him, Ben frowned.
"Not again..." he groaned. He liked Paradox, but he knew that whenever the man showed up, it meant that there was a planetary to multiversal level threat that needed to be dealt with. "Not that I don't like seeing you, but would you mind telling me what's going on?"
"Of course, Benjamin!" Paradox replied. "Another universe is about to destroy itself and several others unless it is saved from the inside whilst being stabilized from the outside. I cannot save it, as my time walking is too destabilizing. You, on the other hand, can. Before you ask, Gwen, Kevin, Julie, and Ship have agreed to help should you say yes."
"Count me in!" said the teen hero, forgetting his earlier tiredness.
"Wonderful! Now, since you will be staying for quite some time, I will keep you from aging and give a word of warning." The time walker's face grew dark. "Beware the enemy throne's successor. They are the key to destruction." The man smiled and turned away. "Toodle-oo!" he said as he disappeared behind the doorframe.
Ben knew better than to follow, knowing Paradox was in another time and place. What he wasn't expecting was to blink and find himself in another reality altogether.
Castle of Lions
*GASP* "Father!" Those were the first words the princess had spoken in 10,000 years. She lunged forward, expecting to grab her father's shoulder and convince him to use the lions. Instead, she fell into a stranger's arms, who them blushed before saying "Hello" in a fashion she could not comprehend the meaning for. The man dressed strangely. All nine other humanoids in the room were. "Who are you? Where am I?!" said Allura. Before the man could respond, another piped up from the back.
"That would be nice to know," said another. This caused the black and green blob to turn towards him, while three of the others facepalmed. The remaining five individuals jumped, turned around, and got into fighting stances or hid.
"Great going, Kevin," one of the men said sarcastically. However, before a fight could break out, the princess realized two things. One was that everyone else's ears were hideous. The other was that her father had just put her into stasis, which meant...
Before he could react, she grabbed the nearest person's ear, spun them onto their knee, and shouted "Who are you?! Where is King Alfor?! What are you doing in my castle?!"
"A giant blue lion brought us here, then those guys", her captive said, gesturing to the ones in the back, "just showed up out of nowhere, that's all we know!" Wasting no time, she sprang into action to stop the individuals she now thought were spies from hurting anyone. The older man and the man in red joined her in the attack. The spies held their own, but they didn't land any attacks.
It was at this point that Coran woke up. He looked around, shouted "Enemy combatants!", and failed to land a kick on the "spy" in black, falling over in the process. Expecting the end, or at least some pain, he shut his eyes, but it never came. It was then that Allura and her new allies realized that their foes didn't fail to hit them because of ineptitude. They had not, in fact, even made attacks! They stopped attacking, and their foes didn't start.
Everyone realizing the fight was over, loosened up. Allura, specifically, started thinking while everyone introduced themselves. How did those people have the blue lion? Where is its paladin? Then it hit her. These people didn't even know what the blue lion was, and the paladin was gone, so... How long has it been? she thought as she activated the console.
"Okay. That's how that works," said Pidge.
As the data came up, Allura's eyes went wide with horror. "It can't be," said the princess.
"What is it?" replied Coran.
"We've been asleep for 10,000 years."
Everyone's eyes went wide as they stopped talking. "Planet Altea and all of the other planets in our solar system have been destroyed. Coran, Father is gone. Our entire civilization... Zarkon." She spat the name with fury.
She didn't know it yet, but she had triggered something in Shiro. His eyes went wider, and he could only reply with on word:
"...Zarkon?
