It has been a long time since I touched this….wow, I have to admit that I thought that I would have got something done by mid-February but found myself too busy to really make the time for this. I'm not completely done with the planning for this, at least not all the finer points but I have finished the broad and complex mapping of the plot and characters for this part of the story. It's because of that fact that I know that R2 will also be over 30 chapters. As stated in the last chapter, I decided to cut the parts with Lelouch in them for time, and also because I felt like it wouldn't have fit narratively as well, it's a big cast and not everyone gets to play in each chapter. Anyway, let's not waste any more time, I hope you enjoy it.
Chapter 2: Vacation's over.
As the night rode on, a chilled breeze blew through the streets, carrying with it a sense of calm and contentment. It was well into the early morning hours, with most inside their rooms, fast asleep as they dreamed of whatever their minds could imagine for them to enjoy before their waking hours came for them. In one of these dreams, it was a warm afternoon, as the cracks of gunfire rang through the air. With the image of a large mountain, with one of its great sides seemingly covered in a sheet of metal, in the background, large metal beast-knightmares battled it out.
In the center of it all, stood the masked man, the living legend-he who challenged an empire, Zero. Undaunted by the masses of soldiers and knightmares approaching, he lifted up one of his blades, his lightsabres, and ignited its blade-releasing its bright, mystic purple blades. His sheer presence seemed to be a source of motivation for his soldiers, his valiant and crafty Black Knights stood by their leader as they charged, machines of Black crashing into those of purple and red.
One machine, in particular, a crimson giant with a claw of coal and gold seemed to cut through its enemies like scissors through paper. Its clawed hand grabbed anyone unfortunate enough to be close and caused them to bulge up and explode. Another machine, this one white and gold, sliced and slashed through foes with its dual swords like a master swordsman of the screen.
But it was Zero that all attention was directed to as with no machine of his own, he fought-he clashed and he dominated. His attacks by his blade or by his powers of telekinesis render all opposition pointless. Though as the scene played out, it was apparent that not all was what it seemed as no blood was shed despite the battle raging, no screams of the dying were heard, no smell of death in the air even as the casualty count climbed.
The scene reached its apex here, with the sun to his back and the people's cheers ringing through the air for all to hear, Zero booted the evil Charles from Area 11, yelling to all the world that Japan had been reborn, that the country and its people were now free once more. The sun was bright, the sky was clear, and the air was filled with the sweet taste of victory as the people cheered for their hero. But Zero turned and walked towards you, the unseen dreamer, and removed his fearsome, faceless helmet.
His kind smile and bright eyes greet you as he opened his arms to you.
"Everything will be okay, sweet child."
You don't hesitate as you rush him, laughing as you reached out for him, for his embrace. But it was not to be. Before you could reach him, you blink and in that moment of blindness, he vanishes, and the entire world changes. As you trip and fall, you start to make out the changes that have occurred. The sun vanished behind the grey, angry clouds, the sky filled with smoke as the world burned all around them. The sweet taste in the air was replaced with a dreadful copper.
Looking around, there was nothing but carnage as what was once a beautiful city all around you, now lay in ruin as rubble and debris chock the roads and litter the parks. All this heralded another battle, but one which was so much different from the last one, much more terrifying. Now Zero stood, batted and dirty, against unending waves of unknown figures, dressed in brown, white, and blue cloaks that covered them from head to toe. However, one thing that drew attention was the fact that each of them wielded a blade just like Zero, only theirs were either blue or green in color and seemed much…colder than Zero's.
Before when he danced through opponents, cutting them down with single strikes-now, he found himself pushed back, slowed down, and forced to block and dodge more times than he could attack. He desperation in his moves as no matter how many he seemed to defeat, two more would appear from the ruined buildings or vehicles to keep him on his toes. Their strikes grew closer and closer to landing that fatal blow on Zero as his troop, his courageous troops, died one by one as they themselves were either cut down or shot by men in orange and white armor using strange guns that fired blue jets of some unknown substance.
You reach for Zero, scared for his life as he was quickly swarmed by the wave of enemies. With no voice to cry out with, and a body that refuses to do anything of meaning, all there was to do was merely…observe. Yet, you refused this and closed your eyes from this sight, from this nightmare unfolding in front of you. The last thing you heard was Zero's cry of pain and fury.
"You cowards will all die for this! I will have justice!"
His words, his intent leaking through to you as you felt nothing but cold fury wash over you. Before you realize it, you already running away from the blood, the fight, the anger. You don't know where, you don't care where. All you have to distract yourself from your thoughts is the patter of your bare feet on the ground as you move. There in front of you, a partially destroyed apartment building stands, its doors open from were last used them but all that's useless information at the moment as your body rushes for it, your lungs screaming as you take ever more breaths of air to keep going.
The light appears at the end of this path, and without hesitation, you dash for it but it led not to mercy, but to something far worse than the previous sight. As you step into the light, it blinds you for a moment and as your eyes clear up, it's to another sight you wished you never say. You find yourself back in Tokyo, only now the city was in ruins, burning and destroyed in every sense of the word. The skies are crimson as the Sakura, the pride of the Black Knights falls from the sky, burning up. Knightmares lay in ruin, the field silent as the grave as there be nothing but corpses to greet you. In one pile, you can make out the dull green eyes of your uncle, his body burnt, his lightsabers destroyed.
This nightmare is as unrelenting as it is, didn't stop as you make out there are three people still breathing, not too far from you, exhausted, wounded, missing an arm, and unmasked, Zero stands in opposition in defense of your new mother, who you hoped to God was only unconscious as she didn't move a muscle. The being he stood against was a figure that sent a shiver down your spine. As if made from shadows and darkness, the light seemed to be absorbed by him, his stature meant he towered over the weakened and injured Zero much like a man over a child. Where Zero's only remaining hand held his blade of purple, this thing held one that bleed red.
You couldn't move, you couldn't speak, you could only stand frozen and silent as this vile, villainous aura washed over you, robbing you of breath, of the will to oppose, almost taking your will to live as it seem to suck up everything to feed this infinite darkness resting at its core. You had heard stories of how others saw your father as a demon, as a master of Ogres and dragons but…whatever this…monster was, it was far beyond it. Their gaze alone was as powerful as the titan, as all-consuming as a sun, but where stars give forth light and warmth, this monster's gaze heralded nothing but darkness, hate, fear, and the chilled hands of death.
Still, Zero fought him to defend the last living person there, but to say it was a fight would be horribly inaccurate in much the same way one wouldn't call it a fight when a cat plays with a mouse that he had caught. With every attempt he made, he was pushed back and for every inch, he seemed to gain in their duel, he lost miles. It felt like an eternity to watch as the greatest warrior you have ever known, he who defeated the invincible empire was broken, bent, and humiliated with shocking ease. Once his lightsaber was destroyed, any resistance he could mount ended as he was picked up using the same unseen power he normally used on others.
As you watched Zero shake and gasp for air through the chokehold on his neck, the figure spoke, their voice quiet in tone yet booming like an explosion that never ended.
"My life spans millennia. Legions have risen to test me, to challenge me, to defy me." Zero was smashed into the ground, before being tossed through some loose rubble, breaking through on the other side but still well within the grasp of this ancient monster grasp. "And each and every one of them fell to my power, to my wrath."
"You believed yourself different, you entertained the notion that you could do what no Sith or Jedi could, your youthful arrogance bleeds through, young one." Zero tried to fight free, but a large charge of lightning had him screaming in pain as he smashed into the ground once more.
"The deaths you caused, the wars you waged…they were all for naught. Your world burns, your people fall into shallow graves, and your ideals will to be forgotten. All that you wished to protect, to achieve," The figure cracked a smile, but it only brought further dread to your heart as they lifted their crimson blade up once more, prepared to deal the death blow.
"It is mine." He laughed as pulled Zero towards him, his blade poised to impale him. You closed your eyes before you could see it, but you couldn't stop yourself from hearing the hot blade burn its way through his flesh, or the scream that Zero let out from the finishing blow, but above that, it was the laughter of this monster that terrified and hurt you more then.
"This galaxy is all mine!" With that last proclamation, the entire world fell to his power as dozens of giant warships, with hundreds upon hundreds of fighters, appeared overhead, flying off to do the same as they did to Tokyo to every corner of the blue gem of a planet. As Zero's corpse fell to the ground, his hollow eyes piercing your closed eyelids and your very being, the monster began to walk away, his fine white clothes, spotless of any blood or grime despite their surroundings, flowing with his movements like water off rocks.
"It's time I claim it, once more." You didn't know what he was talking about, you refused to know what he was talking about as he paused, lightning gathering in his hands. Soon, it seemed like he had gathered over a hundred storms to himself as the power made the air as heavy as bricks. In a flash, he turned to where you were, as he had been aware of your presence the entire time as he blasted you with his power.
"Now you shall all be consumed by eternity!" And with that, the world turned to a screeching white.
"NO! Go Away, GO AWAY!" Alice screamed as she violently woke up from her nightmare. The darkness of her room only added to her fears as every shadow and shape looked like it was approaching her with ill intent. "Mamma! Pappa! Make them go away!" Out of fear, she tearfully jumped from her bed and crawled under it, sobbing as she held onto her blanket which she had grabbed.
"Alice!" Her door was busted open when Lelouch, having heard her cries, came running. He may have been in a pair of white and blue PJs and barefoot, but he still struck an intimidating figure with his eyes ablaze for any who would dare harm his child, and with one of his lightsabers at the ready, but when he saw no threat-he turned to his daughter, seeing her crying from under the bed frame. Realizing what must have occurred, he calmed himself down and dropped his weapon, slowly moving towards the bed.
"It's alright, it's alright, sweet child. It was just a dream, you are safe…" He comforted her as he knelt down, his hand reaching for her, but stopping short so as to not scare her any more than she must already be.
"It wasn't a nightmare, it was horrible!" It broke his heart to see her like this as snorted along with the tears.
"I promised that I would protect you, didn't I?" He asked her, waiting for her to nod her head before he continued, his voice as soft as wool and his smile welcoming. "Then take my hand, I'll keep whatever scared you far, far away from you." He encouraged her to come out as while he could pull her out, he knew this was something she needed to do. It appeared that she wasn't going to, but when he looked into his eyes and saw his love for her burning bright, her resolve hardened enough for her to bolt out from under the frame and into his arms.
He took the impact of his eldest crashing into him with ease, letting her cry into his chest as he brought his arms around her, gently soothing her as he rubbed circles around her back. "The night, the shadows will never bring you harm, sweet child." He whispered into her hair before he kissed the top of her head, feeling her grip on his pajama top tighten before loosening. He picked her up in his arms, before moving to the bed where he could have a more comfortable spot as he spoke soft assurances to Alice. The two of them spent some time like this, with no real words spoken as Alice calmed down from her nightmare.
Once he was sure she was ready to talk, Lelouch started to question her. "Alice, I know that you must be scared, but could you tell me what you saw in your nightmare?" He kept his voice soft as Alice hadn't left his lap and didn't seem like she was going to anytime soon.
"Do I have to?" Her question was muffled by the fact her face was still buried in his chest, but he could make out the words.
"No, dear. Only if you want to." He wasn't going to force her to talk about it if she couldn't. They fell into silence for another few minutes before Alice spoke up in this meek, scared voice that squeezed at Lelouch's heart. She wasn't supposed to ever sound like this.
"…It started like this…"
"I was getting worried." Reyla gave a welcoming smile as Lelouch, with Alice in his arms, walked back into their bedroom. The pale woman much like himself was in wearing a pair of white and blue PJs. Along with her were two fussing toddlers who she was struggling to calm down.
"Sorry, mamma." Alice apologized, thinking that the twins only woke up crying because they heard her crying.
"Don't apologize, sweetie. I was worried because it got all quiet there and none of you returned." Reyla turned down her apology as the two of them got into the bed along with her and the twins.
"She's going to share the bed with us tonight." Lelouch didn't need to ask permission, this wasn't something his wife would deny as she only gave them a larger smile.
"Well then, looks like the whole family's here as the twins also are having a rough night." She replied as he used the force to start to levitate the two toddlers, being lifted into the air and gently moved about proved to be just as effective as ever as they soon calmed down and started to giggle in joy from the experience.
"Family pile then!" Once they were pacified, the family moved about the large bed to the best positions. Lelouch and Reyla of course were at the bottom with Alice laying atop them, though more on Reyla while the twins were placed on their father's side so that he could keep an eye on them if they decided to try and explore the place unsupervised(again). The two of them were quite fast on their feet when they wanted to be.
"Good night, pappa, good night, mamma. Oh, and good night Pré and Bri." Alice told all of them as she got herself comfortable, using her little brother and sister's nicknames as the twins didn't so much as offer up a reply and more made sounds such as 'Gu' and "Ai" in their walk-asleep state.
"Good night, everyone. And remember that you're safe with us." Reyla reassured them as Alice turned to her with a small, but present smile.
"I know, love you." She replied as Reyla gave her a little kiss on her forehead. It didn't take all that long for the kids to fall asleep once more, it was pretty early in the morning after all.
"So, what was the commotion about?" Once she was sure the kids were fast asleep, she couldn't hold back her concern.
"She had a nightmare." Lelouch didn't really know how to describe what she had told him. There was a part of him who wished to just stop there, but the rest of him…
"You don't sound so sure about that?" And of course, his wife picked up on that.
"Because I'm not, it sounded like, like she had a vision of the future, or at least a possible one." His response almost got a physical reaction out of her, but she stayed still to ensure they didn't disturb the kids, but her eyes nevertheless widen in shock and fear.
"She's force sensitive?" She whispered even softer than they had for this conversation. She knew what that could bring, the enemies she would now have for simply living.
"No clue, to be frank, we never checked." Lelouch reached over with his free hand and grasped her in it, giving it a gentle squeeze, one that she returned as he was in the same boat when it came to worrying about this new development.
"But she's shown no signs of it." She may have not spent all that much time around the masters, but she heard them talk enough to be able to tell that Jedi were able to pick up on one's connection to the force in a child's infancy.
"Neither did I till I was 12, this isn't something I'm well versed in, I'll have to speak with the masters the first chance I get, get their opinions on this." In hindsight, he wanted to smack his past self over the head for never looking into this. He took his master's words on how he, Nunnally, and Suzaku were the only force sensitives on the planet as inarguable proof. But that was over a decade ago, who knows if it still held true. A child with such power was a walking disaster just waiting to happen as it made any tantrum dangerous, any violent thought could be lethal to their targets. They were lucky in that nothing showed till after they got out of that phase.
He will have to look into this as soon as he gets back as while his enemies on Earth wouldn't know what to look for, it didn't mean they couldn't stumble upon a force-sensitive child and recognize the similarities between them, and he/she. A problem that immediately arises is that they couldn't just take children from their homes and families, even if it's for everyone's benefit as they neither had the influence of the Jedi nor were they as cruel as the Sith who often just snatched up any potential candidates. Japanese families were the most likely to be receptive to this everyone else would be outright hostile.
They had their own sect growing on Mars, but it was still small, only having around 40 or so members with most of the older members having been disillusioned Jedi padawans who had left the Order during their war with the Sith. Perhaps he can have intelligence keep an ear to the ground for any news that could sound like force-sensitive children presenting their gifts, but he wasn't naïve enough to think that such incidents would be without harm.
"Lelouch." Reyla's voice brought him back to the present. He would have to shelf that line of thought for later.
"Right, sorry. She seemed to have a vision where we seem to fight both the Sith and Jedi in open conflict." He gave a short explanation of it all, once she had heard the gist of it, she pulled Alice closer to her bosom, wanting her to be close to her warmth.
"I can see how that would be scary for any child." Alice didn't make any sounds other than a contend sounding hmm as she snuggled up closer to her mother.
"There's more, after all that. She said she saw all of Tokyo reduced to ash, and I was fighting this man which sounds like e Sith Lord, but was vastly stronger than I…I lost." He was scared by that part. He wasn't arrogant enough to think himself the best, his 0.1 win-loss ratio with his master in dueling served as an ever-present reminder his blade work needed further polishing. But there was more to this.
"But that wasn't the part that worries me, it was what she said he talked about, how he had lived for over 1,000 years, how entire armies had tried to face him only to fall short, and how not even the Sith and Jedi could defeat him." That didn't sound like any species he knew about. There were plenty that lives past the 700-year mark, but by then it would be quite clear they were elderly, but from how this…sith was described by Alice, he couldn't be any older than 50 and quite human in if nothing else but appearance.
Then there was the line about armies. Force-sensitives were worth hundreds if not thousands of troops depending on their talent and skill-but even by Earth Standards, an army was many times larger than that yet this being claimed that such masses of man and machine fell short of defeating him. This was an unknown, one that he dreaded.
"I've never heard of such a being, it could just be an extremely powerful Sith Lord, or perhaps another Revan." Reyla offered up some possible suggestions but he didn't think they would fit this mold.
"If only, but Revan was anything but a monster as she described him." Revan was many things but while he was feared by his enemies and nigh unstoppable on the battlefield, this unknown Sith, was something else.
"We can talk about this later, it's 3am and I want to get some sleep." Reyla decided that they should talk about this later as while grim, they were still on vacation and if nothing else, they owed it to their kids to try and relax.
"Yeah, you're right." Lelouch relented, closing his eyes and going back to the land of dreams. They could worry about this after they were rested and able to speak with the experts.
(Later in the day)
After breakfast, the family continued on with their off-planet vacation. Alderaan had been chosen for their month-long trip as it was both peaceful and having been spared from the worst of the fighting between the Republic and Sith Empire. Lelouch would have preferred to have spent their vacation on Earth, but Alice was adamant that they make good on their promise to 'take her to the stars'. As the family made their through the crowds, he couldn't say he didn't enjoy their trip, and while they only had 3 more days left-they planned to make the most of it.
The group consisted of the family themselves, along with a small security detail of which Nagato was a member, all of whom dressed like tourists, and lastly, there was C.C who at this point was more a live-in aunt/annoying friend/nanny.
"Mama! Look!" The elder twin, Lepréie pointed towards one of the larger alien species walking about.
"Lo da!" Not to be outdone by his twin, LeBrill tried to get their attention focused on one of the speeders zooming by on the road.
"They're still so absorbed by it all," Reyla stated as she smiled down into the stroller, she was using to carry the two. The twins shared her pale skin and white hair, but they got their eyes and faces from their father, which meant they could have his glare one day, but right now they were far too adorable to scare anyone, not with how they giggled, smiled and played with their plushies.
"They like to learn about things, isn't that right, my little ones?" Lelouch replied with a proud smirk, looking at them through his sunglasses.
"If they turn out to be anything like their father, I'll have to keep a close eye on them." Reyla faux sighed at all the trouble they'll no doubt get into as they get older.
"Like they'll leave evidence of their mischief." Lelouch didn't see an issue with this as he let out a little laugh.
"Don't you dare." Reyla turned to glare her him, her eyes as sharp as any blade before they softened up as she gave him a smirk of her own. "Besides, I'm eager to see how you react once Alice hits her teenage years, and all that entails." She giggled at the horrified face Lelouch made as he recalled that in a few short years, he would have to deal with an Alice going through puberty.
"Boys are gross, mom," Alice interjected from her father's side; her hand being held by his own to make sure she doesn't wander off(again). Despite her words and genuine feelings towards such at this time, none of the adults present believed for a second it would last.
"Your father thought the same thing about girls till he-" Before Reyla could out how embarrassing he was in his efforts to draw her attention in his teenage years, Lelouch interjected by pointing towards a small stand where a merchant was selling toys.
"Look over there, does anyone want a new toy?" He quickly asked and luckily for him, it worked as all three kids turned their attention towards it as Alice started dragging him towards it so that they could pick some. It was true that his wallet was going to take a hit with this, but it wasn't like he and Reyla didn't have lucrative employment.
"That one!" LeBrill pointed towards one of the larger ones that looked like it was a stuffed Ewok.
"Smooth save," C.C spoke up from the side.
"I don't need any lip from you, witch." He muttered back to her as the children started to talk about which toys they wanted with the vendor who thankfully was well versed in handling children who spoke 200 words a minute and couldn't keep a straight line of thought for a 5th of that.
"Whatever you say, warlock," C.C replied as she turned her gaze towards a large, muscular red-skinned Sith as she walked on by.
"I wear the damn costume one time…" Oh, how he regretted listening to Milly when it came to that damned Halloween party. It was fun, but he could have done it without everyone making that joke.
"You seem almost as invested as the kids," Reyla spoke up as C.C turned back from eyeing the options.
"Don't be ridiculous, I am merely enjoying a novelty experience." Her rather cold response would have meant the end of a normal conversation when they first met, but it had been two years since then.
"Changing the words doesn't change the meaning, C.C. Nothing wrong with how you're acting, this is your first trip off-world." Reyla was well versed in handling their green-haired houseguest. She recalled how her husband looked on his first few trips and how overwhelming it was for her when she left the Nightsisters.
"Don't bother, she's mostly here instead of the hotel room thanks to Alive and alien pizza," Lelouch muttered as he couldn't believe that there were dishes that looked like pizza, having spent most of his time not looking for them like the gluttonous witch had. It was even more annoying when they would come up from some couple of times only to see at least 8 boxes of the stuff laying about the floor as C.C and the kids watched something on the holoprojector.
"She's not as uptight as her father." C.C's response had him grinding his teeth together.
"Good, then it means you can continue to babysit her and the twins." Reyla stepped in for her husband to which C.C went from flippant smug to an annoyed.
"Do I look like your nanny?"
"Do you like free housing and food?" Lelouch answered with a question as they had tried to get her to leave, but it never worked and while they could kick her out, they felt like it wouldn't do for the kids to see something like that.
"Oh hush, you. You wouldn't cut her off like that." Reyla slapped his side at that one as while she had her own feelings about C.C. she could say that she had grown on them, she enjoyed having her around if for nothing else, than someone to talk to. Nunnally wasn't a bad conversationalist, quite the opposite but the two of them had different interests as Nunna was shaping up to be a philosopher/researcher when it came to the Force. Kaguya was another option but while she could take the teasing the double meanings, she was often busy in Kyoto.
C.C on the other hand, for her blunt, prickly nature, was someone who could get lost in conversation regardless of the topic, and whenever she gave out advice or wisdom, it felt like she was speaking with a respected elder who had lived for decades if not a full century. As the parents turned their attention back to the kids, C.C couldn't help but roll her eyes with a small smile on her face.
'Who would have thought, not even Marianne could get me to help with you two brats, yet here I am.' She recalled how she would often vanish whenever Marianne needed her help to change a diaper or feed them, leaving her contractor furious as she often couldn't rely on the help to do their jobs owing to the fact her enemies had already paid off a chef to try and passion her when she was pregnant with the grumpy father she was watching right now. She may have helped deliver the two into this world, but she wasn't their nanny.
But yet, here she was acting like one to these kids, she may have indulged her own tastes even when they were about, but it wasn't like she left underwear or porn laying about. She helped keep watch on them, teach them stuff, and play around if she was in the mood. Hell, whenever Reyla worked late at Tokyo Hospital, she was the primary caregiver till their father got home, at which point she would lump the workload on him and go do her own thing.
She was only on this trip as Alice had asked her parents if her 'aunt' could come along with them. The girl had grown on her, more so than she would have ever thought possible. There were times when she thought about granting her geass, giving her the means to live up to the growing legacy her father was creating, but she would always cut that line of that. She would NEVER make the mistake of another Mao…never again. 'It's the little things that make living all these years feel worth it.'
"I thought you didn't like her." While the immortal witch was lost in her own thoughts, Lelouch whispered to his wife.
"I didn't say that, she's just…an acquired taste." That was an understatement and a half, the woman came off as infuriating most of the time and apathetic the rest.
"And what about the time she snuck into our bed?" Lelouch's brow twitched at that one as waking up to a beautiful woman's naked body pressed up to yours was great, not so much when said woman wasn't your wife.
"I admit that in hindsight, it is quite funny as I thought I was still asleep when I saw her, rubbing her nude body to yours." Reyla could admit that she fought that amusement when she looked back on it. Growing up the way she did, she wasn't…opposed to such, having seen more than a few of the elder Nightsisters pass along a particularly desirable partner like a toy, or just sharing one amongst a group.
"I would say her words on this coming event of great importance is just an excuse to mess with us," Lelouch replied as he was the same in that he placed little weight into marriage growing up thanks to the many marriages his father had, with powerful noble families having a similar if a much smaller number of wives and/or lovers.
"I approve of her, you know." Reyla's response got him to pause.
"I'm serious. You're going to have more than me in the future, your position all but demands it." Reyla had long accepted that his position, his role in the grand scheme of life would have him take more than her to their bed. She thought she would be angered, or feel jealously over this, but she knew he loved her as much as she did him, so what if that love spread?
"I would like to not sleep with women I don't care for." Lelouch was grateful that the kids were too invested in picking out their 3rd toys to hear what they were talking about, the last thing he needed was Alice getting on their backs about more siblings.
"Do you care for C.C?" She asked him, looking him straight in the eye.
"Well, yes but-"
"Then build on that, she's our shameless bisexual friend. She's not apathetic, even though she may act like it, she wants affection as much as everyone else." Reyla answered him before he could finish his response.
"Did you use some spell to figure that out, or is this just your instincts?" He asked her, wondering when he lost this argument or if he ever had a chance.
"Come on, we still got to see the zoo here." Reyla chose not to answer the question as they quickly paid for the toys and took the bags filled with them. The group would spend the rest of the day exploring the place, managing to even visit a traveling circus where the twins insisted that they ride on the back of one of the acts and while Lelouch and Reyla tried to apologetic to her, the Iktochi just laughed it off and carried the twins around for a bit before they moved on.
There was a small incident when someone in the crowd recognized Reyla as Dathomirian and charged her, throwing racial slurs the entire time as he decried her as a heartless witch. Their security made sure he never got close. Sadly, the incident shook the kids so they decided to call it quits early and once they handed the man to the local security forces, they headed back to their hotel. Unknown to them, at the same time this happened, some robed figure in the crowd had picked up on Lelouch's ire and attempted to choke the man out and followed after him.
"This is troubling news, indeed." Hours later, long after the sun had set, Lelouch sat in their bedroom, alone. Reyla was with the kids to give him time to contact his masters and explain the situation with Alice to them.
"My thoughts exactly, but I thought it wise to seek your guidance before I made any move," Lelouch told them as he couldn't think of any ideas, he could consider being good on his own, and while Reyla tried to help-she was not like them, like him and couldn't get the full picture because of it.
"You were right to do so. At this point, it doesn't seem like this is a top priority issue, so you can enjoy the rest of your time off, but once you return, make sure to bring her to the temple where we can confirm or disprove this." Master Jaunus instructed him to which, he nodded his head. Master Auburna also added her own piece.
"Master Auburna is right, we can start looking into things here." Jaunus agreed with his fellow master as if Alice was potentially force-sensitive, then they needed to begin searching for any more children like her.
"As you wish, but as to the matters of her possible premonition." Lelouch paused there as he still couldn't make much sense of it. Auburna and Jaunus looked one another in the eye, seemingly discussing this without words which in his years under them, was never a good sign.
"I have no knowledge of such a Sith Lord, if there was an individual with such power, surely they would have tried to usurp the emperor and take the empire for themselves." Jaunus eventually spoke up, his brow creased up with worry. Auburna being just as concerned as he as she roared.
"She's right, premonitions are notorious for lacking crucial context, making it a gamble to either try to avoid it or ignore it without unknowingly setting off the chain of events that cause it." That was one thing both Sith and Jedi hated about visions. As it seemed like the force was playing with them, mocking them and making light on their efforts for certainly and control.
"The Jedi archives could have something, but none of us could gain access." Jaunus thought aloud as while the Sith had records of such, the rather fragile nature of the line of accession and its absolute nature meant that more than once, new emperors destroyed parts or entire sections of history that didn't fit the narrative they were pushing. Of course, it wasn't like the Jedi achieves were a sure thing either as while they kept them, they were only open to members of the council and under tight security. Auburna spoke up, surprising both with her words.
"A friend in the order? Are you sure that is wise, master?" Lelouch asked as he figured that both kept some contacts from the days as a Jedi and Sith respectively, but he didn't think they were anyone of note outside info brokers and suppliers.
"We lack critical information here, it might just be our best bet, but it would be best if you took some backup for this assignment. Nunnally is available, is she not?" Jaunus' question only added to his worries but he nonetheless answered the question.
"As far as I know, but isn't such a task above her skill level?" He knew she was capable, but there was a reason he did his best to give her non-combative, otherwise non-dangerous roles during their rebellion. If she were to head for Coruscant, they would have no way to help her, or even get her out of there if things go wrong.
"We are not looking for a fight with the Jedi if that is what you're worried about. Besides, she's the only member capable of such with both yourself and Suzaku occupied with your duties on Earth." Jaunus told him, ending the discussion there as his pupil could do nothing but bow his head.
"If that is what you think is best." With that the call was cut as the projector ceased, leaving him in the darkness of his room, but not alone.
"Are you going to just keep standing in the shadows?" He got up from the desk, looking towards the corner where C.C stepped into the light. He had picked up on her sneaking in earlier but had elected to say nothing, now he wanted to know why.
"Your destiny is shaping up to be treacherous," C.C spoke up, looking towards him with guarded eyes. "Your daughter might be just like you, and your sister is heading towards the heart of your enemies."
"I don't believe in destiny. Only the will of men and the force." Lelouch responded, his own eyes blazing with his will.
"And what happens when the force wills for your destruction?" C.C asked him as she moved to lay down on the bed, closing her eyes lest he sees the tears starting to build up. She had learned much about the force from them, and because of that, she believed that her immortality was because of it. Of course, that realization also came with the part that if this strange, body-less power could curse people with immortality, what hope did people have to oppose it?
Seeing her acting like this, and wanting to convey some sense of togetherness, Lelouch walked towards her, taking her hand into his own before clasping his other on top of her, waiting for her to open her eyes to his. "That's the beauty of it, life is just the never-ending struggle between men and the force, always pushing against one another." He told her, he didn't know her full story, but he did know that she wasn't normal, and she was hurting because of it.
"Is your will strong enough then, to overcome this unseen power?" Her question got him to smile at her, not his cocky one, not the one he had whenever he conducted his business, but the one he would give those close to his guarded, scarred heart, and in her, he saw a kindred spirit.
"The Jedi make themselves willing slaves to the force, the Sith become blind tools of it." He started, her gaze telling him to get along with it.
"We are alive, C.C. We are free. The force may its own plans, it may want us to suffer for some unseen purpose," Here, he didn't hide the fact that he knew a little more about her than she suspected. "It may wish to see me and everything I love burn but I will fight with everything I have to ensure that never comes to pass."
And that is that we made the debut of the Lamperourge family, and we got to learn more about them. I won't say what Alice say in her nightmare, but I can figure that many of you will have an idea of who it was, and what this means for the plot of the story. When it came to Alice's dream, I tried to add some foreshadowing to it, but written in such a way that it would fit to be seen from Alice's POV as she's not all that knowledgeable, and a child, so she would put more emphasis on more things than others. Zero would be seen as a hero in her eyes, while the forces of the Jedi would be seen as the enemy.
When it came to the twins, I had some trouble thinking of names for them, but then I decided to follow the same naming scheme the writers did with Lelouch himself as his name means suspicious thanks to the French word it's derived from.
So, I decided to do the same for the twins as his daughter is named Lepréie which roughly translates to "precious" or "The precious one" while his son is name Lebrill which translates as 'smart' or 'The bright one". Alice referred to them by their nicknames(Lebrill is Bri, the English pronunciation and Lepréie is Pré, The Portuguese pronunciation) as you can imagine their names would be a handful to remember and properly pronounce(trust me, as someone with a name people keep mispronouncing, nicknames are just easier to deal with)
As I thought this script down, and my plans for R2, my friend and I realized that a Nightsister and a child of a harem would have very different views on love and marriage as from what we see in the Clone Wars, the Nightsisters treated men like livestock, kept only to keep their species going and/or sell them to off-planet bidders. Whereas Lelouch grew up in a society where men in power rarely have one wife, and if not-they have lovers, consorts, mistresses, etc. With such an upbringing, having a harem would be less a social or cultural stigma, and more like something couples would choose to do or not do.
Lastly, there is going to be more C.C in R2 as she's already put together that the force is the source of all things, including geass and code so she has a stack in this race as she hopes to find a way to get rid of her power without cursing someone else with it.
Reviews:
REVANOFSITHLORD: Well, this is the second chapter of that sequel.
justinq719: Well, you got your more.
Perseus12: Thanks, hope you enjoyed the second chapter.
Dewa1990: Hope I kept things up to snuff with this one then.
dsgundam00: Here it is, though expect from time-to-time chapters where the stories slow down out of a need for narrative…well, breaks to catch my breath and not burn through what I've planned too fast.
zack24: Glad I can make you feel happy.
Shadowedsoul2: Yeah, I only realized the other day that when I finish stories, I should make them complete instead of just leaving them dead. Sadly, I couldn't fit the world's reactions into this chapter for the sake of the flow but I do have chapters with such planned.
Spartan517: Thank you.
Wahyubison: There will be chapters that explore more about that, and for the record, they have cold relations with the Federation as the Empress isn't the one true ruler just yet, so while on paper they're at peace, they don't hide their resentment for the eunuchs who don't take being called out kindly, but aren't that dumb to try and fight them.
tf330129: Hope you liked it then.
Coment9: I'll be frank, I'm still undecided about creating a wiki page for this. If I do make one, it would be after I go back and clean up as much of the first story as I can.
x-x-TheBurnedMan-x-x: Well, I haven't seen these Super Robot Wars videos, but the knightmares starting to take on that role was always in the cards as we see that the engines of the TIE are both small enough to fit into that small frame, but also allow the damn thing to power through all laws of flight dynamics and physics so someone thinking 'Hmm, I wonder if I can't slap that into a knightmare' is bound to happen. When I wrote the fight between the starfighters and knightmares, most of the inspiration came from watching Gundam Seed and how GINNS could just wreck the mobile armors the Earth forces deploy.
And much like you believe, knightmares will gain traction for all sides involved as it would be the height of stupidity to now recognize their potential and move to either develop your own or just copy whatever units the other guy is using.
Greer123: I am, thanks.
Vein Bloodborne: I would respond to this, but someone else already did for me, thanks -x-TheBurnedMan-x-x for clearing that up.
Blaze1992: Yes, this is part of the reason I loved Clone Wars, because of those moments when it took focus away from the battlefield to show us how the good guys were dealing with shit on the political front, which also was a great way to show us more scenes where Sidious without just showing him shooting lightning and declaring himself the senate.
Dontus -not Donut- Powerus: Yup, I really do.
phantomkillerx5: Honestly, that guy didn't know when to quit.
Clone Ranger-555: If Star Wars could go like, two seasons/movies without having a scene on a desert planet, I would be so happy.
Echo 5555: Yeah, sorry about that.
ShadowDuke 844: Not sure, but knowing how old Yoda was, it wouldn't be weird for one of his species to make an appearance only for the readers to later learn this is his great-grandparent or something.
WhiskeyRanger 69: Hope you liked the chapter.
