Two months, four days, fourteen hours, six minutes and twenty seconds but who was counting. Kim was blissfully sated next to Adam as they celebrated her freedom from Logan Harper. His fingers left goosebumps in their wake as he drew her fading pleasure a little while longer.
"God you felt good." He was on his side, his fingers gliding from her gasping throat down between her sweat ridden breasts. "And you are all mine." His lips found hers, not being able to get enough of her. He had long ago stopped trying to quit his obsession with her body but that was a battle he was actively refusing to win, to even fight. She was his with no obstacles and his body was drawn to hers like a magnet and he lever wanted that attraction to stop.
"All yours." Kim found energy to push Adam on his back and straddle him. "Nobody else's." His hands found the soft skin of her back as he pulled her down for a kiss. Tongues touched softly, lips supple and wanting, the two wanting to give into each other again but Adam was spent and he just wanted to hold her.
"You need to give me a little time to recover darlin'." He kissed her forehead.
"You'll have all the time to recover while we're out to dinner with Jay and Erin." She pulled away from him but stayed comfortably seated against his hips.
"Do we have to?" He groaned. The dinner had been planned a few weeks back when both girls had spent an evening together at Molly's to get to know each other and had decided they would go out as soon as her divorce had been finalized.
"Yes." She leaned down and kissed him.
"No." He growled, flipping her on her back and pushing his pelvis against hers, eliciting a moan from her.
"Yes or you will no longer get any of this." She pushed him off her and scurried over the side of the bed and out of his reach.
"You wouldn't dare deny me your incredibly, sexy body." He followed her inside the bathroom as she started the shower.
"I would definitely deny you all of me if you don't come in the shower with me so we can quickly get ready." She slipped under the warm mist.
"I wouldn't use the word quickly if I step in that shower with you." He could feel himself harden already.
"It's a good thing we still have just enough time for you to do something about your little problem." She chuckled as he hurried in the shower with her, caging her between his arms with the water running over them both.
"It won't take me long." Their lips found each other's and Adam's hands wrapped around her thighs, lifting her enough to press her back against the wall and make her sink onto him with a groan, the water splashing on their skin as Adam pushed in and pulled out of her in quick succession, making her moan and lose all thought while he made love to her again. "You're so close already." He bit down on her neck as she had her arm wrapped tightly around his for support. "So close." He pushed in with more power, making Kim shiver and clamp her walls around him. "Feel so tight." He grunted in her neck as she controlled the force of her clench just the way she knew would drive him crazy with a need to give her all of himself. She could never get enough of him or get enough of giving herself to him in a way that she had never given herself to her ex-husband. Adam was everything she could ask for from an attentive lover and if she was honest best friend, which made this even sweeter.
"Just for you." Her breathing was coming out in short huffs, shivers moving through her bloodstream at the love and lust in his thrusts, something she wanted to return in favour. "Adam." She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth to muffle her scream as she came around him, Adam groaning as he spilled inside her tightness. Still both short on breath, he pulled out of her and set her gently on her feet to kiss her, running his hands in her hair as their hands roamed lightly.
"Let's get you clean." He kissed her again before their hands washed each other, Adam exiting the shower before Kim. He watched her finish rinsing off before leaving the bathroom to get changed. They had a reservation at Bavette's Bar & Boeuf on W Kinzie St so he knew he had to dress nice. He slipped into a white dress her, forgoing a tie and wearing his best black suit. When Kim came out of the bathroom, Adam's jaw dropped. "Kim." He managed to find his bearings.
"Yes?"
"You're not going out like that." He had a predatory look in his eyes.
"Yes I am." She laughed. "Jealousy suits you baby." She pressed herself into him.
"It might not suit whoever looks at you the way I'm looking at you now."
"Then I suggest you keep a tight leash on it." She smiled into the kiss, her eyes open and peering into his.
"You're playing with fire."
"You know I love fire." She winked and pulled out of his grasp as he groaned his displeasure.
"That's what worries me." He mumbled under his breath.
"I'll be ready in ten baby." She called over her shoulder as she went back behind the bathroom door to do her make-up.
"I need a drink." He sighed as he poured himself a double shot of whisky, letting the burn in his throat push the jealousy monster down. As promised, Kim was out in ten, lips red and smoky eyes, his sudden urge to keep her home back with force.
"I don't want to be late." She ignored his look and grabbed her clutch, beckoning him forward.
"They won't mind." He grinned as she pulled him forward, letting him lock the door. The drive was spent in light conversation, Kim trying to tamper down the beast that she could see simmer at the surface. When Adam handed the keys to his Tahoe to the valet, Jay and Erin were walking up. "You two clean up nice." Adam and Jay shook hands.
"I could say the same for you Ruzek." Erin chuckled, looping her arm with Kim's, walking ahead of the boys.
"I'm surprised you let her out of the house dressed like that." The sharp elbow Adam received in the ribs slightly shook the monster to the surface.
"And I regret every second of it." He could already see eyes roaming over both girls, Erin's dress no more concealing than Kim's.
"They can take care of themselves." He clapped him on the back as they were seated
"That I know." It was hard to keep his eyes away from Kim, doing his best to ignore the wandering eyes coming from around them.
"How about we start this celebration with some champagne?" Jay flagged the waiter. Erin and Kim whispering in each other's ears had the guys looking at each other.
"How about the two of you share whatever secret you've been passing along?"
"No secret." Kim assured them. "We're simply stating a fact about our men looking pretty hot tonight." Jay was wearing a black v-neck under a navy blue suit.
"Only way we can keep up with the two of you."
"It's hard to keep up with Erin." Erin was wearing a low neck, short hem red dress with black heels.
"How about we just enjoy the fact that we are young and hot and you, my dear Kim, are free from a monster of an ex-husband and in the very capable hands on one of our best friends and I couldn't be happier for the two of you." She rose her glass to them both. "To a happier future."
"To a happier future." Adam echoed as he rose Kim's knuckles to his lips.
"So, what is next for the two of you?" Jay wondered as the divorce was so fresh.
"The divorce is finalized but there are some things that were in my name that need to be sorted out but since I don't want any of his blood money, we are looking for a house because his place is way too small." Kim grinned. They had spoken of the idea aloud while they basked in happiness a week prior.
"Your place is pretty tiny."
"My place is just fine." Adam gave Kim a quirk of the brow and a rueful smile. "Never heard her complain about it."
"Uh huh." Kim blushed at Jay's unspoken words.
"I think it's nice, this happiness looks good on you." Erin chimed in.
"And I very much intend to keep it that way." Adam exchanged a glance with Kim.
"Even more reason to celebrate." Erin was hyper bubbly, finally happy to see Adam in a good place after so much chaos. Their meal arrived and they chatted about every and anything the four enjoying a rare evening in their chaotic lives. They promised to do it again and Adam drove them to the waterfront where he draped his jacket over Kim's shoulder to keep her warm.
"Tonight was nice." Kim placed her head on Adam's shoulder with a sigh as they walked hand in hand, her other hand wrapped around his bicep.
"It was, we should do that more often."
"We should have everyone over as soon as we find a house." Her tone was soft but Adam heard the underlying pain in it.
"We'll have them over as often as you want darlin'." He refused to use the bastard's name, something they had agreed on the moment Kim got the news that she was finally free from him.
"Do you mind if we go home?" Kim no longer wanted to be out, simply wanted to be able to spend some quiet time with Adam.
"Whatever you want to do." Silence enveloped them both until they made it back and as soon as the door was closed, Adam's lips were on Kim's in a soft kiss. He could sense that something was weighing on her so he was gentle. His rough hands were on her cheeks, hers on his wrists, enjoying the little bubble they were in. Sliding his right hand to the back of her neck, deepening it only just before it slid down and found her dress's zipper. He was slow to lower it, a moan escaping her lips as his fingers found the skin of her back. "Is this okay?" She nodded her approval. He took half a step back to give her a bit of space before he ghosted her neck, hooking his fingers on the material of her dress and pulling it down slowly over her shoulders, her dress pooling at her feet, leaving her in black lace. His eyes darkened and his lips returned to hers. He wrapped her in his arms and slowly walked her backwards. He was intending on surrounding her with his love, to show her the extend of it. He stripped out of his suit as soon as they walked in their bedroom, laying down on the bed and offering his hand to her. She took it, his fingers flexing around hers and pulling her into his side. A soft moan escaped her lips as a hand slipped to her lower back and the other wrapped around her shoulder as she snuggled in closer.
"Thank you." She whispered under the beating of his chest.
"Never." He whispered against the crown of her head. "You don't even have to thank me."
"You don't even know what I want to thank you for."
"It doesn't matter." She hummed and closed her eyes. "I promise you right here, now, that I will never let a bad day on the job, an argument of any kind, or any of the other bad stuff to make you feel like you shouldn't be loved every single second of every single day for the rest of your life."
"Are you proposing to me?" She looked up into his eyes.
"Not now but I will one day, if and when you're ready."
"I'll always be ready Adam Ruzek." Her voice was soft and void of the pain he heard in it before.
"Good, I can't wait." They spent the remainder of their evening wrapped in each other, comfort, love and understanding between them.
