Cameron Davies was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with him. Despite his best attempts to subtly flirt with Jane Rizzoli, she had barely paid him any mind. She had declined all of his offers to spend time together after any of their work events. He watched as Jane subconsciously checked her phone multiple times a minute as if she were expecting an important text or call. However, her phone rarely buzzed. When it did, Jane often had a short conversation with someone who he assumed was her mother. He had begun to think that Jane's heart belonged to someone else. However, Jane was too impressive of a woman to give up that easily. He needed to make sure before he lost his only chance. At the end of the weekend, they had a final dinner planned with Director Patel, the man who had been the deciding factor in whether Jane would be hired or not. He knew that his chance had arrived when Director Patel excused himself halfway through the dinner, needing to tend to an emergency. As Jane pokes at her food, he decides to put down his fork and capture her attention.

"Jane, I have to be really honest with you right now."

Jane forgets that she has been inside of her head for the majority of the dinner, feeling bad that she may have ignored the man in front of her. Her eyes widen in surprise as she moves the asparagus on her plate around.

"I think you are a beautiful woman. You are a gifted instructor and I have greatly enjoyed being able to see you interact with our trainees these last few days. They look up to you and rightfully so. I have followed your story for a while and I admire your dedication to this field."

Jane responds with a half smile, her dimples flashing momentarily. "Thank you, Agent Davies."

He starts to feel discouraged. "Are you spoken for, Jane?" he blurts out.

Jane looks up, dropping her fork in shock. "What did you say?"

Davies begins to feel like a fool. Jane was the first woman to ever be so disinterested towards him and it had him acting like an idiot. "I have been trying to flirt with you all weekend and it's like I don't even exist. I just want to know if I'm barking up the wrong tree."

Feeling conflicted, Jane isn't sure how to respond. Her heart belongs completely to Maura, but Maura and her needed to be over for the sake of Maura's safety. Agent Davies wasn't too bad to look at and he had been very sweet to her the entire weekend. If she had never met Maura, she might have considered giving him a chance. However, that wasn't the case. Maura Isles was someone who Jane couldn't ever forget and for the rest of her life, she would mourn the loss of this woman.

"I'm sorry, Agent Davies. Cameron. I'm in love with someone else. Things have ended, but I'm not looking for a relationship right now," Jane says apologetically. "You've been a gentleman and I had a good weekend. I hope this doesn't make things awkward with us as we begin to work together."

Agent Davies sits back in his chair, trying his best to keep a smile on his face. "No hard feelings, Jane. I understand."

Having lost her appetite, Jane pushes the plate back. She is glad that Davies brought up this topic at the end of their meal, as they only had to sit in awkward silence until the check arrived.

Davies pushes in his chair, putting his suit jacket back on. "I'll see you at the end of the month?"

" Yes. I'll be there. Is there anything else that I should be prepared for?"

Shaking his head, Davies says, "Not that I can think of. We'll be assigning you two of the trainee cohorts and your first class will be on the art of interrogation. Is that alright?"

Jane walks alongside him as they exit the restaurant. "It's perfect. Thank you again for this opportunity."

Opting for a handshake, Davies bids Jane goodbye for now. "See you soon, detective."

It has been a long weekend for Maura Isles. Maura was the only woman who had consistently avoided being hungover every morning and she was thankful as they headed to the airport for an early flight. All of the other women were wearing sunglasses that covered half of their faces, groaning at the bright lights in the airport. Bottles of Dramamine and painkillers were passed around as the women addressed their nausea and headaches through self-medication. Nina and Frankie had been texting non-stop, and it made Maura miss Jane even more.

"Frankie's picking Jane up from the airport and then he's going to come back for us," Nina says as she looks up from her screen.

Both relieved and disappointed that she won't be forced to see Jane, Maura thanks Nina and settles back into her airplane seat. The ride from Vegas to Boston is longer and Maura manages to write five more chapters for the new novel that she is working on. When they land, Nina calls Frankie immediately. He says something that makes her laugh and they chat until the women begin walking down the airplane to exit.

Nina spots Frankie's Jeep, jumping into his arms as he waves his hands in an exaggerated motion to catch their attention. As Maura goes to put her suitcase in the trunk, he helps, loading all of the suitcases. Before he gets to Maura's suitcase, the passenger door opens.

When Jane steps out, Maura feels her heart stop. It had been weeks since they had seen each other outside of work. As Jane looks back at Maura, she grabs the suitcase from Maura's hands.

"Hey, Maura. I got this."

Maura hands it over reluctantly, ignoring the spark between them as their hands brushed against each other. As Nina climbs into the front seat, Jane realizes that she will have to sit in the back with Maura. Maura sits in the middle seat, being the shortest woman compared to Jane and Nina's sister, Kathy. Jane's long legs are cramped in front of her, as Frankie's seat is pushed back to fit his long legs as well. Jane is forced to sit with her legs spread a little, taking up Maura's space as the two women are squished up against each other. With every right turn, Maura slides into Jane more. The tension between them is thick and Maura feels her body react to Jane Rizzoli pressed up against her.

"Sorry, ladies. Jane's flight was delayed so I didn't get a chance to drop her off before needing to pick you up. I didn't want to keep you all waiting," Frankie says over his shoulder.

Nina touches his right arm, touched at how sweet her fiancé could be. He gives her a smile before turning his eyes back on the road. "Did you have a good time?"

While Kathy and Nina describe the trip, Maura and Jane take turns looking at each other. The sound of a loud pop startles everyone inside of the car as the car starts dinging, complaining of a low tire pressure. Frankie pulls over to the side, looking at the dashboard.

"Aw, man. I think I blew my tire out," he says as he opens his door to check. Nina and her sister exchange glances as they realize that they are about to be late for Nina's dress fitting.

Jane gets out, taking a look at the tire as well. "Damn it, Frankie." Bending down to examine the extent of the damage, she says something to Frankie, who nods in response. Jane peeks her head back in the car. "Nina and Kathy, you guys go ahead and head to your dress fitting. Frankie will go with and our ma will pick him up when you two head in. I don't want you to be late for this."

Maura hears as the women breathe a collective sigh of relief. "Maura, are you alright sticking with Jane? The taxi will only fit 3 people since the luggage will take up the 4th seat," Frankie asks as he points to the stack of suitcases behind them.

Maura nods, not knowing how much of an option she had.

"Go, Frankie. I'll put a spare on the car and drive it to your place when I'm done."

Before she knows it, Maura and Jane are alone. Jane rolls the sleeves up on her button-down shirt exposing toned forearms and vasculature. Maura looks away, feeling her heart begin to race at the sight. Jane gets on her knees, slipping the car jack under the frame and the tire iron in place. As she cranks the iron, her muscles flex and Maura gulps. Watching a tire change should not be this stimulating. Jane gets some grease on her shirt, so she decides to take it off, sporting a white tank top instead. The tank top makes things worse for Maura, as Jane's muscular back and shoulders are out for Maura to ogle. As sweat glistens off Jane, Maura finds it harder and harder to focus on the task at hand.

"Do you need any help?"

Jane grunts as she puts the spare tire in place. Tightening the nuts on the wheels, Jane says, "No. Thanks."

As she finishes up, Jane wipes off the sweat gathering on her brow with her tank top, revealing tight abs underneath. Maura sees how Jane's scars were beginning to fade.

She hoped that Jane's emotional scars were doing the same as well.
