I'm the damned Mailman!
Welcome back and I say hello once more to the people who read this!
In all seriousness, I just needed a quick break from writing Darkest Hero since I frankly have gone a bit mental trying to constantly figure out how to get from point A to point C with no idea what the heck point B is.
Now onto a quick Q and A segment with questions asked by the readers of this fic.
Q: Is snipe gonna get a protege from this?
A: probably, they both rock the cowboy aesthetic after all.
Q: uh, is it safe for Izuku to be using a fatman in Japan?
A: probably not but I can already tell you of a few situations where it may be used especially given the tiny blast radius and how quickly the radiation decays back to safe levels. The first being the USJ incident, the other is the battle between All for One and All Might.
Q: did Izuku and Lily go on any of the DLC adventures?
A: not in this one as I have only got the base game.
Q: will Izuku name his own moves?
A: probably.
Q: where is dogmeat?
A: I didn't know Dogmeat was even in New Vegas, I though it was only Rex the cyber doggo.
Q: are all the students aged up or only Izuku?
A: it will be all aged up, UA is a university in this instead of a highschool.
English: hello
Japanese: Hello
Chapter 3: interview
Izuku sighed as he sat in the cleanest room he had been in since he first ended up in Nevada. It was bare bones and frankly he had seen powder ganger tents with better security than the room he was in. As he looked about the room he drummed his fingers across his lap and whistled Big Iron softly. In the next room over he could hear some poor Sheriff trying to talk with Lily to which the woman kept replying she didn't speak the language.
Soon the door before him clicked open and the detective from before walked in with a skinny man with bags under his eyes, black hair and was somehow hopping along in a yellow sleeping bag. All in all it wasn't the weirdest thing he has seen but then again he did fight aliens not two hours ago and had fought rodents of unusual size too.
"Right, let's get this over with." Izuku sighed as he put his hands onto the table before him, ignoring the fact that he had left the handcuffs attached to the table open.
"Do I even want to know?" The tired looking man asked in English with a sigh.
"What? They chafed." Izuku said in broken and highly accented Japanese as he shrugged and leart back in his chair, the sound of plastic grinding on the tiled floors filled the air as he did so.
"Right." The detective sighed. "I am detective Naomasa, this is the underground hero Eraserhead. We just want to know what happened from your perspective since according to files, you went missing."
"Started when I was, what? 8?" Izuku asked himself again in english. "I was at the park with my friend, can't remember his name but he was blonde and exploded things a lot, then some foggy ass butler guy snatched me away, stuck me before some white haired guy who said he wanted my quirk, I panicked and next I know I was hitting the ground hard in Lily's house, broke my arm too."
"I see, and you landed in America then?" Eraserhead asked.
"A version of it anyway." Izuku replied with a shake of his head. "Parallel post apocalyptic world, mutants and radiation were major problems and I ain't mean like the sludge guy, I mean things like 6ft tall scorpions or whatever the hell Deathclaws came from, didn't really pay much attention to them other than how to not get killed by one."
"I see." The hero sighed. "And how did you get back here from this... alternate world?"
Izuku shrugged. "Alien attack, rightly couldn't believe it myself if'n I'm honest. I mean sure, I'd of sooner believed Caesar to rise from his dirt grave if it wasn't for the fact I've done just that."
"Just what?" The detective asked.
Izuku merely rapped his fist to the upper right side of his skull. "Metal plate, Doc Michaels had to pull out a 9mm round from my skull, had blurred vision for a while after that and I kept finding dirt in my hair but it sure beat radiation poisoning."
"Excuse me." Naomasa balked. "You're saying you've survived a bullet to the head?!"
"Shoot more than just that." Izuku chuckled as he learnt forwards in his chair. "Poisoning, multiple broken bones, sprained ligaments, radiation poisoning, normal poisoning, being rammed and sent flying by super mutants, being burnt, stung by cazadors, bitten by ghouls, the list goes on, heck one time I even fell into nukage, stuff stank like a dead centaur covered in mole rat shit and burnt through my favourite boots but I still survived."
"God fucking damnit." Eraserhead sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "You're such a problem child."
"Guilty." Izuku snorted. "Now, when can I get my pipboy back? It has my medical records in it if you need em, not to mention helps me keep track of what I have on me."
"You'll be able to collect it after your family picks you up." Naomasa replied simply. "Now, how did you get out of the cuffs?"
"Lockpick." Izuku shrugged. "I've seen Raiders with better locks on their shit."
"I see." The detective sighed loudly through his nose. "And your companion, miss Lily, what's with her?"
"Lots of things. Kicked out of the vault she lived in, experimented on by a maniac, infected with FEV, turned into Nightkin, suffers from schizophrenia or MPD I'm not sure on which, occasionally travels with me when we have to go through super mutant turf with no bloodshed." Izuku explained. "She speaks english by the way, not Japanese so the sheriff in there is wasting time."
"One second." Naomasa replied as he walked out of the room leaving Izuku and Eraserhead by themselves.
"So, How'd you get the neat sleeping bag?" Izuku asked after a few moments of silence.
"Custom order from a local camping store." Eraserhead answered bluntly.
"Nice. Uh, so... I don't actually have local currency on me, I have a few NCR bills, some gold coins the Legion used before they all got killed and a load of caps." Izuku explained.
"And what exactly are all of those?" Eraserhead asked.
Izuku hummed as a small stack of notes appeared before him. "NRC bills, $5, $20, $50, and $100, conversion rate is roughly NCR $2 per cap, but it does fluctuate based on how well they're doing though."
Eraserhead nodded as a small pile of gold coins appeared on the table next to the notes. "Legion coins, forgot the name since I never really used em, before the Legion fell apart it was something like 4 coins per cap? Anyway I don't like these things since it's backed by slave labour, only had these as some nutter wanted them for a museum. Caps, on the other hand are backed by water, 1 cap is about a third of a litre of water."
Eraserhead blinked with a deadpanned expression at the bottle caps Izuku had made appear next to the coins and notes. He had no idea what the heck kind of brand nuka cola was but in his eyes it was illogical to use drink lids as currency.
"I think I also have pre-war money here too." Izuku hummed as several pieces of random junk fell onto the table, ranging from broken clocks and dented tin cans to skulls of animals Eraserhead had never seen in his life before finally a large stack of American currency from the 2070s fell onto the table before him. Aizawa could only gape in shock, there was easily a few million in American dollars sitting on the table. "There it is, useless shit honestly. I've seen people use it for toilet paper or tissues, personally I use it to patch up holes in my hats when they get shot at."
"Okay, we've got a translator fo-holy fuck." Naomasa uttered as he entered the room. "Where did that all come from?!"
"I can store things with my quirk, as for this? Ruins of some bank south of new Vegas, stuff is useless honestly, it's what, $100 per cap?" Izuku replied absently as he began to tap the items returning them to his pocket dimension.
"I-is this even legal?" The detective asked in shock.
"I'm not sure honestly, here take a wad for testing if you want." Izuku replied as he handed the man one of the stacks. "Like I said it's borderline worthless where I was."
"I...uh... Alright." Naomasa blinked as he looked on with mild concern at the stack of money had had been given. It was $10,000 his entire month's salary for crying out loud! Next to the chief and the other two head detectives in the station he was the third highest payed in the building!
"Detective." Eraserhead coughed.
"Oh, right." Naomasa replied as he sat the was of notes on his end of the table. "Midoriya this conversation will be recorded for the incident report involving the sludge villain attack today, my quirk is Lie detector, I can tell when you lie and when you tell the truth."
"Neat, would of saved me a fair bit back in the casinos." Izuku chuckled to himself.
"So, can you describe the events that lead upto your involvement with the sludge villain?" Eraserhead asked in a tired tone.
"Me and lily were returning to the border outpost to make a pitstop on our way back to New Springs to drop off a new supply of meds before making our way back to the strip when the outpost came under fire. Never seen blue fire before honestly." Izuku told them, his hands clenched together tightly. "We rushed up there thinking some maniac got ahold of pre-war tech and went on a rampage. On the way up some poor sap rushed down the hill burning alive, barely made it 10 feet before he died. By the time we reached the top of the hill everything was burning and the last few NCR troops were in a firefight with honest to god aliens. The caravans were burnt to bits too, men, women, children, brahmen didn't matter, all dead."
"True." Naomasa stated looking sick. Eraserhead merely gulped and tried to school his features.
"Lily went nuts and killed one with her sword before one got the drop on us, next thing we know we ended up in some tunnel here and a green sludge guy attacks us." Izuku sighed slightly. "The buff blondy came and collected him up and gave us directions to this sheriff station, unfortunately the sludge had taken the girl hostage and I went in to help given the locals only gawked at it all."
"Also true." Naomasa sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Everything matched up with what we know happened. What you did was still illegal, interfering with an attack like that again could see you in prison, is that clear?"
"Chrystal." Izuku nodded.
Unknown to Izuku however was the fact that this room had a two sided mirror where a pair of women were watching him along with a officer who had a dog head in place of a human one.
"Everything seems to match up with the file woof." The officer stated gently. "It's more than likely this is your missing son."
"My baby." The older woman who had green hair sobbed. "The kind of danger he must of faced my poor boy!"
"Damn, oniichan is a badass." The blonde girl smiled revealing a fang. Despite only speaking a small amount of English she was more than capable of getting the general idea of what the brother she had never met had gone through.
"Language! I will not have you swearing like your friend." The older woman snapped.
"Geeze sorry mum." The girl sighed with her hands raised in mock defeat.
"I swear you two are enough as is." The older woman sighed softly. "I honestly have to worry about you two trying to sneak girls or porn magazines in the house, now I may have to worry about Izuku too."
The officer meanwhile was waiting and watching the interview. A subtle gesture from Eraserhead was enough to let the man know it was safe to allow the family to have their reunion.
"Come on woof." The man nodded as he beckoned the two to follow him as he walked out of the door. Walking out into the hallway they weren't went one door down and opened the door. "Alright he has visitors woof."
"Izuku my baby boy!" The woman cried as she tackled Izuku into a hug across the table.
"M-mum?" Izuku asked hesitantly in Japanese. "It's you?"
"Yes! You have no idea how worried I was! I searched for you since the day you were gone!" The woman sobbed as she held her son close.
"So you're my brother huh?" The blonde asked with a grin. "Nice to meet you, names Toga Midoriya."
"Sister?" Izuku asked in confusion.
"Adopted." The blonde shrugged with a smirk. "Mum found me eating birds behind a dumpster when I was nine, my old folks kicked me out."
"Uh... Sorry?" Izuku replied hesitantly. "Japanese... Old use?"
"It's ok dear, we can teach you again." The woman smiled softly.
"I'll just need you to sign him and his friend out." Naomasa explained.
"Friend?" The woman asked with a curious blink.
"One Lily, no known last name, she was experimented on by some villain but travels with Izuku to keep him safe." Naomasa explained.
"That poor dear!" The woman gasped. "If she needs a place to stay I can easily set up the guest bed for her in my house."
End.
