There are two big similarities to Mika and that's it... three. Both want to shine past being a civie born ninja, both want to be a specific kind of ninja and both are really smart. That's it... other that that, since both are partially based on me...

"Clone Jutsu!" Rooku's hand signs were sloppy on account of his sluggishness and nerves, but he managed to push his chakra outward and before he knew it, two clones appeared. "I did it!" He giggled, and the men before him smiled.

Iruka nodded, passing him a headband. "Congratulations Rooku, you are now a genin of the Leaf Village."

Barely able to handle it, Rooku beamed a smile. "Thank's Iruka sensei!" Then he all but ran out of the academy and outside, running up to where he wanted to be most. He was not one for violence, his father had ensured that, so really one kind of ninja stood out to him. One kind of Ninja made him feel helpful, powerful and worthy of his power.

Medical Ninja!

So, without waiting, he rushed to the hospital, headband in hand. The moment he made it into the building, he slowed down but still hurried to the secretary. "Ma'am... I would like to apply to become a medical ninja!"

The woman, a black haired beauty, gave him a dry look. "You're serious? It's extremely hard work kid, not everyone is cut out for it!"

"Not everyone is meant for brutal battle either. I know I am more of a village ninja, this seems a good fit... so... I wanna apply."

"Fine, but just so you know, you have to pass a test both now and in three months to show that training you isn't a waste of our time."

Rooku nodded. "I know, the first is a general assessment, the second is to see where we have come since we have started our training. I asked a few months ago, when I decided my path! Thank you, Miss."

"Not a problem, kid." She gave him a look, then smirked. " Hey, Mei... you up for giving this kid a test? He wants to be trained as a medic?"

Mei, a thin lady with blue eyes, popped her head from her office two doors down from the secretary. "Sure, it's been a boring day anyway. You ready kid?"

Rooku jumped, then nodded. "Yes, Ma'am. I even studied,... which is good since I finally know how to study. No one showed me how to until like four months ago. My grade went from choppy but consistently high to the best academically in the academy."

The woman smiled. "That's good. How come you didn't know before?"

"I'm really smart, I think everyone just assumed that I knew. Before he lost custody and was arrested, my father certainly did."

"I see... come on down, I got your test right here." In the end, Rooku passed his test, with an eighty-seven... at least the written part. It was easy when you read most of the books in the Academy section of the library. Then came the chakra control test, which was much, much harder. "Separate this water, take the coffee and Oil, and put them on either side of the cup." She said, presenting them a cup and demonstrating the very technique for him to see.

He nodded and attempted the same. He poured his chakra into the mixture a dozen different ways, after a minute he managed to separate them finely though he was sweating. "How's that?"

She smiled. "Fifteen seconds,.. your control is fine enough to learn medical jutsu, but if you want full mastery, you need better control. I will be assigning you some chakra control exercises, five of which I want you to practice every morning, even when you manage them. They will help your chakra reserves grow in power, which you'll need. I can sense that your chakra levels are literally average, like just as much as a genin needs to have to graduate. I will let Lord Hokage know that you will be training here five days a week. Congratulations kid, you are on your way to becoming a medic. I hope you manage to pass again in three months." She handed him a scroll, containing what he assumed was the exercises in question.

"Same, thank you for this chance!"

"Not a problem... now get going, kid. I'm going to be getting real busy."

Rooku rushed away, on cloud nine, running to a distant training ground to start his training exercises, his new chakra exercises. First was the tree climbing exercise, which the scroll said took a few days to typically master.

Rooku would get it by sundown, exhausted and breathing heavily, but damn it he got it and he was pretty damn proud. It was good finding something you excelled at when you struggled to do most physical things period, even Ninjutsu.

'I can do this... I will become a medical ninja and no one will stop me from excelling, not even my lack of athleticism! I will manage to be amazing!"

:::

That night, Rooku dived into a book on advanced Anatomy, reviewing what he read before. As he had learned, writing things down and quizzing himself on it really helped. He passed the academy tests with a hundred percent with this trick, as opposed to only getting in the eighties before. It had changed everything for him. Putting him in an entirely different class than before, allowing him to showcase just how smart he really was... and boy was he proud of it.

Even Iruka, who tended to favor the clan kids, seemed pleased. "Great work!" He said, leaving Rooku blushing.

Now, now he would use his brains and book smarts for something useful and show the world that he mattered. No one would doubt it, not even the freaking Hokage! No one...

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was fun, simple and interesting.

Love, your Ninja Overlord,

Mika.
