I finished my own Original Story, it is entirely free and on Wattpad. Check it out, Destiny Rebellions- A Queen's Champion... if you love A Mortal's Might you'll love it. It was inspired heavily by that story and this one. Please check it out and tell me if you love it. I will be publishing it one day, so check it out before I pull it off of Wattpad.

"Alright, training starts now."

Kakashi's words had a great effect on his student, he could clearly see as much. Even Sasuke, who was quiet and closed off, showed a sign of excitement in some minute twitching of his hands. It took all of his ANBU experience to see it but Kakashi could see it clearly. Sakura was quivering with some fear but a great deal of anticipation. Then there was Naruto, who was bubbling with so much excitement he reminded Kakashi of a Puppy.

"RIGHT!" he barked out, making Kakashi smile inside.

Rooku on the other hand looked bored.

"First we will begin with a review of chakra a ninjas basic source of power. Understanding chakra is essential."

Sasuke, ever the sarcastic one, bit out. " We know that."

"he's right, a long time ago we learned about... catra?"

Rooku groaned. "Kakashi... let me explain." Turning to Naruto, he gave an explanation. "Chakra powers jutsu. It has two halves, physical and spiritual. Physical is from food and the strength of your body, you as an Uzumaki are genetically predisposed to have vast reserves of this type of chakra. Spiritual comes from training, experience and what not. When you combine these two things, you get Ninja power and can do jutsu. By mixing them in varying amounts, you get different jutsu. Simple. Handsigns help focus and channel this power, which is why we learned them in the academy." He turned to Kakashi. "He is going to show you lot how to climb surfaces with your chakra, which helps you to control and maintain your chakra, a basic technique really. Primative but important."

To make his point, the boy walked over to the nearest tree and climbed it without effort, Kakashi felt not a single trace of chakra. It was perfectly done.

"Wow, without his hands!" Sakura's shrill voice echoed into his ears.

"Wow!" That was Naruto.

"Focus the chakra towards the soles of your feet and use it to connect it to the tree." Kakashi said, throwing kunai at them.

Sakura looked outraged. "That's a nice trick but how does it help us to fight Zabuza!"

"By giving you greater mastery of your chakra." Rooku said. "Naruto, you have a butt-ton of chakra, you need this to gain control. Sakura you have very little chakra like me, you need to gain power. Sasuke you are in the middle of them in that regard."

Sort of proud, Kakashi nodded. "Yes, that is the idea. You see if you master this you will learn to draw a precise amount of chakra to a precise point. This is difficult even for advanced Ninja. This type of climbing requires a subtle mixture of spiritual and physical energy. The soles of the feet are the hardest point to draw from and too. Are you getting the picture Sakura. If you master this you can master any jutsu… in theory anyway.

The second point is to maintain your chakra levels. When a ninja is focused in battle it is even harder to control and maintain his charka levels. A deadly mistake. To avoid this maintaining chakra must become second nature. Effortless. Well, I could talk about this all day, but that won't advance your skills will it. You need to apply chakra, through training."With blinding speeds, Kakashi threw four Kunai at the feet of his students. "Use the Kunai knife to mark the tree at the highest point you can climb without using your hands. Then try to get past that mark the next, then the next. First, you need to run at the tree so the momentum can take you as high as possible. At first. Ready!"

Naruto nodded. "Alright, I got this believe it!" Closing his eyes, Naruto focused his chakra creating a physical wave of energy before shooting across the clearing and making his way up the tree... only to fall off and land painfully on his head. "OWWWW!"

Sasuke and Sakura both shot up their own trees, with Sasuke making it just under half way and Sakura...

"This is fun!" Sakura cheered from a spot all the way up her tree, a happy gloating grin on her face.

"Well it looks like the female of the team has the greatest chakra control."

"Good job Sakura." Naruto said smiling.

Rooku sighed and Kakashi turned to him. "Yes, Rooku?"

"Again, I know this exercise. I can do three and a half of the medical control exercises with perfect accuracy, and the other five with fifty percent accuracy."

Naruto turned to him. " What?"

"Naruto, I am a medic, my chakra control has to be perfect so I do not kill people. I can do the mystic palm, that's why I was allowed on this mission at all. That requires control even better than Kakashi is likely to have." He shrugged. "I am not as great a fighter as Sasuke, nor do I have Sakura's clearly innate talent for chakra control, but my powers are molded through effort and training. Unlike you lot, I have dedicated myself to mastering this path and damn it is has bore me fruit!"

Kakashi felt bad, at least slightly. It was true that he should have taught his team this technique before, and it was true that Rooku had helped him to recover far faster than he would have without his aid. He really ought to give him something...

And like that, a wonderful idea came to Kakashi's mind.

Walking to Rooku, he offered a smile. "I have something interesting to teach you. Your chakra levels are at least of average level, right?" Rooku nodded. "Then I can show you this jutsu. The Water Clone jutsu. You should be able to at least create two of them. With their help you should be able to act as a greater medic, able to serve multiple people at a time. Sound fair?"

Rooku's smile was beyond warm. "I would be happy to learn the Water clone jutsu."

"Follow me."

"""

Rooku figured out the Water clone jutsu in about three hours, it was a tricky jutsu that required more chakra density than he would have liked but he managed it. He could make two clones, just as Kakashi had guessed. Within another hour, he was sending his clones throughout the village of Wave, acting as healer to as many people as he could help since, according to Tazuna, they had no local healers after Gato had them all killed. His clones didn't use the Mystic Palm, but they did manage to patch wounds, disinfect wounds and stitch together several injuries. Hours passed that way, while Sakura was at the bridge with Tazuna. He enjoyed the task greatly, using his earned talents to make a real impact on the people of Wave. It kept his skills sharp too and really fulfilled his purpose as a healer.

He ended up taking care of nearly a hundred people from the time he started til sundown. He felt terrible for all those he could not help, those whose injuries were far too severe, who were on the brink of death, suffering from infection or scurvy or a million other things. It was terrible to see, to witness the heartbroken faces of those he had to turn away in one way or another. He couldn't even offer pain relief for most, since he only had so much to use on his teammates...

By the time he was hurrying to Tazuna's home, he was slumped over and dragging his exhausted body. Everything ached, he worked nearly twelve hours and felt terrible...

He ended up still helping Tsunami make dinner.

"... and there is just so much sickness here, in Wave." He whispered to Kakashi. "If we get rid of Gato or just make the bridge, we need to send people here to help heal the sick and dying."

Kakashi sighed and nodded. "From your report, we might have to... we cannot allow them to go through so much when we can help."

"I would be happy to stay behind and patch people up as I have been... Gato took the pain killers, he has them used as pleasure drugs, the dick weasel."

That made Kakashi snort. "You are an interesting one, but a good medic. Tsunade would be impressed, I am sure."

That made Rooku flush with pride. "Thank you."

"NARUTO ENOUGH!" Naruto froze as he saw Rooku, almost glowing with rage as Naruto stuffed his face with bowl after bowl of food. "This country is starving as it is you will not make it harder by eating them out of house and home." He turned to Sasuke, giving him the same look and getting an equal amount of hesitance in his eyes.

"Sorry." Narito squeaked out.

"Apologize to Tsunami, not me!" He growled out, and Naruto realized the nice healer was scarier then Sakura.

Turning to Tsunami, he bowed his head. "Sorry."

"Sasuke, you too."

"Hnn."

"SASUKE!"

To Naruto's extreme shock, Sasuke actually bowed his head as well. "Sorry."

Some time passed and they started to drink some tea, the room quiet except for the sound of Tsunami doing the dishes.

This was interrupted by Sakura. "Hey this picture is torn. Is there some reason for that?" Naruto may have struggled to read the room but he could easily tell there was something wrong. "Inari, you kept glancing at it through dinner, it looks like there was someone else in here but they were torn out."

"It's my husband." Tsunami said, her voice quiet and pained.

"He was once called a hero in this land." Tazuna said and with that Inari left the room, eyes shaded in shadows from his hat.

"Inari where are you going?" Tsunami followed him as he left the room, stopping at the door to turn to her father. "Father you can't talk about him like in front Inari you know that."

"Inari's so… what happened to him?" Sakura broke out, not reading just how much pain was in the room.

Rooku sighed. "He lost his father." Everyone turned to him, and Rooku sighed. "I was told the story by a few people I healed today. They sort of hate Inari, he lost his father but he's pretty luck compared to those without a home, food or healthcare..."

There was a pained a silence before Tazuna started on the story.

"He wasn't his real father, he came into our lives and he brought so much happiness...Inari used to laugh and smile all the time and then... " Tazuna started to cry. "...All that ended. He never laughs or smiles anymore. Ever since that day, everything changed. The word courage was stolen from this island, we were left feeling powerless, hopeless and Inari suffered the most. Ever since that day, ever since it happened."

Kakashi's voice didn't change much but Naruto felt like it sort of did, like Kakashi felt warmer and quieter than normal. "Tell us, what happened to Inari."

"To understand, you need to understand the man, his father. The man who taught us the word courage, his father."

When it was finished, Naruto stood up. "I'm going to prove it, prove to Inari that heroes do exist."

He turned and saw Rooku looking at him proudly, which Naruto felt in his chest. "If you are going to go work on the tree climbing exercise, I'll help you. I have some tricks that make it easier."

Naruto beamed. "Thanks."

And the two boys walked out of the house, ready and willing to get started.

:::

Rooku never liked Naruto, he was annoying, rude and awful at everything... but the boy's declaration shifted something inside of him that made Rooku reconsider things. 'Maybe Naruto isn't so bad... maybe I should have tried to be his friend a while ago... he is as alone as I am, more so since everyone seems to hate him... ' Pleased with his thoughts, he walked with Naruto to the nearest tree. "Try laying on your back and just using your feet to move up the tree, get used to the feeling of sticking to the tree then work on climbing the tree. It might help you."

Naruto's smile was oddly uplifting. "You think that will help?"

"I am sure it will, Ru." The title slipped out before he could stop it.

Naruto froze. " Ru?"

"Not sure, you just seem like a Ru... and honestly, I didn't like you until you said you'd prove that Heroes exist... sort of made me realize that you are not as bad as I thought."

"Oh... so ... friends?"

"Friends. Now, let's get you climbing the tree. Kakashi is a terrible teacher, someone has to help you climb the tree."

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

I think I, at a young age, would have tried to see past Naruto's personality and helped him to get better. I now would do that, but I am almost thirty so...

Love, your Ninja Overlord,

Mika.
