I finished my own Original Story, it is entirely free and on Wattpad. Check it out, Destiny Rebellions- A Queen's Champion... if you love A Mortal's Might you'll love it. It was inspired heavily by that story and this one. Please check it out and tell me if you love it. I will be publishing it one day, so check it out before I pull it off of Wattpad.
"... And Naruto managed the tree-climbing exercise in about an hour. I got him to learn water walking as well."
Kakashi gaped. "Both... with his chakra levels?"
Rooku nodded, smirking. " That is what happens when you actually teach someone, which you haven't been doing. You just throw them a technique and expect them to master it. Not all of us are geniuses or had a knack for techniques." Smug, Rooku turned to Naruto who was blushing fiercely. "Naruto, you couldn't do the clone jutsu right?"
Naruto nodded. "Basically." Shame in his voice.
"The reason, with your insane chakra levels, is that your control cannot keep up with your reserves. You need more training... I am choosing to work three twelve hour shifts at the hospital Friday, Saturday, Sunday... I can train with you the rest of the week since Kakashi seems unable or unwilling to help you. I may not be a powerhouse but I am good and well trained in chakra control. Those Shadow clones of yours can help me with my taijutsu, which needs some work since taijutsu has never been my forte. Deal?"
Naruto nodded, beaming with excitement. "Thanks, Rooku!"
"Not a problem, Ru."
Kakashi sighed, sheepish and hopefully ashamed for his inaction. Maybe... Rooku doubted it for some reason. The man seemed pretty inattentive and uncaring as a sensei.

The next day with Tazuna and his family passed quickly for Team Seven, as they had all finished their training with the trees they all were able to swap the guard, with Sasuke and Naruto taking over with Tazuna and Sakura and Rookui watching over Inari and Tsunami. It was an enlightening experience for Rooku, guarding over these people and realizing the power he had over them. To make them feel safer, stronger, more assured in their lives. He felt humbled, oddly enough, and made a point to keep up that idea as time went on.
Even Sasuke seemed to feel swayed by this, his attitude calming ever so slightly. He was actually respectful towards their clients, a little at least, and acted much more mature than normal towards Naruto who had buckled down and was acting like a real ninja for once. Of course, it helped that Rooku, in an attempt to help Naruto grow, was giving him suggestions when they trained together... which was daily, they both sparred together for about an hour each day and Rooku had won so far since Naruto's combat style relied on attrition to win everything.
However, not everything was so wonderful... Inari made sure of that during their last night of Dinner.
It started easily enough, with Tazuna talking to them all. "The bridge is almost complete, just a few more days of work and it will all be over. I have you to thank for that."
His daughter, putting away the dishes from dinner, piped in with a voice filled with concern. " You've all done great but you have to be careful."
"I have been meaning to ask you this but I haven't had the chance until now. Why did you stay and protect me even after you found out I lied to bring you here."
Kakashi, in a rare moment of wisdom, said. "Those who stray from the path of justice have no courage, but under the wing of a strong leader cowardice cannot survive."
Rai felt the shift in the room before Inari opened his mouth, looking up he saw the tears of the boy and his heart broke into a million pieces.
"But why?"
Naruto, who had been drifting off from the food and long day, turned to Inari. " What'd you say?"
"All this stupid training is just a waste of time. Gato's got an army, they'll beat you down and they'll destroy you, These cool things you say don't mean anything. No matter what you do, the strong always win and the weak always lose." Inari's voice was filled with so much pain it was hard to respond, to tell him how wrong he was... At least for Rooku it was, Naruto had no such inhibitions. "Speak for yourself. It won't be like that for me, you got that. " "Why don't you be quiet, just looking at you make me sick. You don't know anything about this country your just butting in. Always laughing and playing around, you don't know what it's like to suffer and be treated like dir-ARH!" Inari's speech ended when the room erupted into shock as Killer intent exploded from Rooku.
Everyone turned to Rooku, who was close to screaming, oozing killer intent and just feeling nothing but fury.
"Don't know suffering... Naruto is an Orphans, no family and a village that hated him for no real reason as far as I can tell.." He growled out, his heart beating a million miles an hour, his skin aching with heat. "Sasuke's entire family was butchered by his brother when he was seven! He's been alone ever since. Kakashi's entire team is dead, his Father dead... Sakura was bullied for years, mistreated, and abused for her appearance. My father was regularly beating me to near death until the village saved me. We've all known suffering, we just chose not to be defined by it.
Look at you, like a cowardly little worm you'd rather bury yourself in the dirt than fight back, even beg for the promise of tomorrow. Your grandfather is risking everything just for the chance of that future, and he's not even a warrior. We are, and unlike you, we will fight and we will win. One Genin is worth twenty brainless thugs, Kakashi is worth thousands. Sasuke is the best in our class by miles, Naruto can make a thousand physical clones! We have our own army and we will not lose, so shut your mouth before I make you, you whiny little shit!
And gods, you know what the worst part is, you acting like you have suffered the most. Half of your people can't buy food or have a roof over their heads. You have a loving family, food in your belly and a place to sleep... get over yourself."
Shaking and knowing he needed to leave, Rooku turned on heel and marched out of the house into the cool air, hoping he didn't accidentally kill the idiot boy.

"Alright, I leave Rooku in your hands today. He will guard you while we guard your father." Kakashi said to Tsunami, a smile on his face.
She smiled. "Alright, do try and be careful today."
"We will, dear. " Tazuna said. " Now, let's move out."
Rooku, still irritated from the night before, threw himself onto the room and sat there, meditating. He reached out with his senses, trying to sense the chakra of those around him. While he was not blessed as a sensor, there were techniques that could mimic that power and he was trying to replicate them. It was something he had tried for years, failing to do so to his shame.
He did this for a good two hours until something tickled his senses, not his chakra sensing one but his hearing. Opening his eyes, he saw two thugs wielding katanas. Realizing that Gato was smart and had sent people after Inari and Tsunami, he threw himself off of the room and readied himself. If they were real samurai, from the Land of Iron, this would be hard, but he had a sneaking suspicion they were not. He could handle two thugs...
Sparring with Naruto had helped get the rust off of his muscles and readied him for combat...
He hoped.
Just to be safe, he called out. "INARI, TSUNAMI, RUN OUR OR BLOCKADE THE HOUSE!"
With that, he rushed his foes and the battle was joined.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was so much fun to write,
