-Traitors like you deserve worse treatments. You should be grateful this is all I'm doing to you.- Maria's words were clipped as she spoke. The sound of chains clinking together deafening in the silence of the barn. The stench of venom was heavy in the air. The crippling of the fire.
She had slaughtered the newborns for she didn't want to be interrupted. Their panic and fear still clung to him like a weighted blanket. Anger. Pain. Resentment. It stuck to him like a second skin.
The chains were tight and hot against the skin of his wrists and were he human there would be no circulation at this point. Wouldn't be able to breathe at all due the uncomfortable position his shoulders were in. He hung in the air. His shirt long ago shredded to pieces.
-'m sorry, it won't happen again, ma'am.- His voice came out broken. Useless. Pitiful. He should know that begging would lead nowhere, much less when he was lying.
A hand connected with his face sending a ripple of pain across his neck as his head turned away by the impact. Rage flaring like a wildfire and burning his skin. Her fingers grabbing his throat in a crushing hold. Fiery eyes blazing with fury.
-Of course it won't happen again!
Wood pierced his stomach and a cry stuck at the back of his throat. Acid filling the air as his blood dripped on the ground. She pushed the piece of wood further and further until it pierced his stomach and came out of his back. He threw his head back and tightened his jaw in a vain attempt to keep the sounds in.
But he failed.
Once she twisted the wood a scream tore out of his throat. Pain flaring in his stomach.
-This, is you own fault. I want you to remember that. None of this would be happening if you just listened to me.
Fire ignited on his ribs as he felt her sink her teeth on his skin. The chains rattled as he flinched. Coughing up blood as the jerk flared agony in his stomach even more. She bit again and again and again. Traveling from his ribs and down to his waist. She twisted the wood once again and he choked on a scream. Yanking on the chains.
-You break those chains and you know what will happen, Jasper.- Maria warned as she stepped back.
-'m sorry, it won't happen again ma'am, I promise, it was a reflex.
-Good.- She knelt before him and he heard the rip of fabric as she tore at the pant's legs. Felt her pull his boots off.
And when he saw her begin to walk towards the door he knew what was coming.
-No please, no, 'm sorry, 'm so sorry please dun't.- He found himself begging against his will. She turned to look at him with a sadistic smile as she came to a stop at the door. Her hand coming to rest on the knob.
-But you aren't really sorry, are you?
She opened the door.
The fire that ignited his legs as the sun leaked in tore another scream out of his throat as he yanked on the chains and kicked in the air. His skin sizzling and his blood boiling under the impact of light.
-The chains Jasper. You won't want to break them would you?
-No! Sorry no no.- He fought to keep himself calm. Calm. Stop moving. Stop moving. But he couldn't because his legs were screaming and his stomach was screaming. Acid filling the air. Acid. Black. Dripping. Drip. Drip. Drip.
The chains snapped.
And dropping to the ground did nothing but set the world ablaze.
A hand grabbed him and he knew what was coming. And in a surge of blind panic he lashed.
~~~~~~~~
Jasper didn't dream much and Alice was more than aware of this. But when he did dream nightmares were the ones that assaulted him.
Nightmares that in order to bring him out of them one would have to wake him up. But waking him up was also never a good idea for he lashed.
And while the Cullens now knew about him being a black blood there were still a lot of things none of them knew about.
Like the fact that waking him up from a nightmare could 98% of the time lead to The Major being the one waking up.
And that's exactly what happened.
Jasper scared was dangerous.
But The Major scared? He was as uncontrollable as he was bound to attempt murder and get out of control. He would dissociate and barely be able to form coherent thoughts. Wouldn't recognize anyone. Everything and everyone was an enemy to get rid of.
She just wished she had been there to stop things from going as horrible as they went.
In her vision he ripped Carlisle's arms in half and tore out a chunk of his shoulder when this one almost managed to successfully restrain him, Esme and Rosalie had wisely stayed away while Emmett grabbed him.
She had returned back to the house with Bella in time to hear him free himself from Emmett. The sound of bone and skin tearing reaching her ears along with a feral growl. The air was thick with rage and danger but it was soon obliterated under Bella's gift.
Alice tried to go upstairs.
Cue word "tried".
Because Edward grabbed her.
~~~~~~~~
Edward is holding Alice when he appears. Jasper . But the thing staring back at him is not his brother. Nothing about him belongs to Jasper but the face. This one is Jor.
But even that is questionable.
He looks like a rabid demon crawled out from Hell with those black veins marring his neck and face. The fangs. The claws. His skin looks almost grayish. His breathing ragged and his murderous glare such an intense void of absolute darkness it makes his throat close.
-Edward. You have to let me go. Now .- Alice plead. Her voice tense as she held his gaze. The one thing she feared the most had happened.
He was back to square one.
The Major.
And him like this wasn't someone one wanted to mess with.
She hadn't seen him get like this since that time he threatened to kill Edward if he was to drag her into danger again after returning from Italy.
-Alice-
-You don't want to agitate him more than he is, trust me. Let me go before things escalate more. It doesn't have to be like this. Just let me deal with him. Please .
Alice was more than relieved when Edward let her go. She approached him with a relaxed air. If she didn't fear him nothing bad would happen. If she didn't let him intimidate her he wouldn't get aggressive.
So she kept calm and relaxed as Jasper had once told her to do.
-Hey love.- She called softly, she threw a quick glance towards the top of the stairs where Esme, Carlisle, Rosalie and Emmett were at, she prayed that they wouldn't try to intervene.
He growled at her, the sound alone sending a shiver down her spine, but she didn't let it bother her. He wouldn't hurt her as long as she didn't fear him, she knew that very well. Plus. If she showed him fear he would do more than attack her.
He would take Jasper away.
-I don't know why you are acting like this, but I'm sure that whatever is it that they did they didn't mean harm by it.- Alice knew she had to be careful with her words. Wise. Because one wrong thing could make things worse rather than fix them. She reached out to him and was relieved when he let her touch him.- They were just trying to help.
Another growl was her answer as he threw a hateful glare at Edward. The hate seemed to almost ooze out of him in giant waves.
It took Alice a moment to figure out what had him in such a mood.
Ah.
She knew this anger.
It was the same anger Jasper had answered with when he first learnt she had seen things from when he was with Maria. The kind of things she saw and the fact that she had hidden from him that she knew about them.
It was unfathomable fear and shame hidden behind hatred and rage. Wanting to be rid of those who knew for the emotions were too much to deal with.
She grabbed his hands this time and tugged at him.
-Come on, let's take a walk, just look at me, ignore them, they don't matter, focus on me.- She told forcing him to start walking and keeping him as far from Edward as she did so.
"Don't look at him Edward. You saw what the nightmare was about. He's reacting to it through the desire to end you for knowing too much. He hurt the others because they kept him from reaching you."
She was able to allow herself some relief when she managed to take him away from the house without any further incidents.
-You're on the mind reader's side.- It wasn't a question but a statement of fact.
A dangerous statement of fact.
He fred his hand from hers.
-I'm not but I won't let you kill him either, what do you want? To make them hate Jasper? Jeopardize his place here? How many times will I have to tell you that killing any of them is not an option?
-They're dangerous!
-So dangerous they helped Jasper stay alive and consequently you? That dangerous?
He walked up to her and stared her down with a piercing glare. She didn't let it bother her. She wouldn't give him the pleasure to frighten her. Instead she crossed her arms over her chest and glared back at him with the same intensity.
-Major, how many times will we have to argue before you realize that at the end of each argument I will always be the one right? You know Jasper is safe here, that this family is the one thing that you know, deep down, is what he needs and deserves. Safer place than here there will never be. I know it. He knows it. You know it.
He gritted his teeth at that and curled his fingers into fists. Anger clear in his face.
-You may rip them to pieces as many times as you desire but that will never change the fact that they love and care about him deeply. And knowing a few things about his past won't change that fact or make them look at him differently. That includes Edward.
A growl.
-I know you don't like him, don't trust him, but at the end of the day Edward cares about Jasper as much as he cares about Emmett, Rosalie and me. You know why? Because we are his siblings. Family . Because while blood makes you related, loyalty makes you family.
He seemed to grow even angrier at that.
And then, without a second of warning, he was gone.
Leaving a confused Jasper behind and Alice sighing.
-What happened?
-Don't worry about it.- Was all Alice said as she pulled him into a hug.
Things could have gone a lot worse.
