Chapter 1
November 1, 1981
Minerva McGonagall had sat all day outside number four Privet Drive observing the muggles who lived inside. From what she had seen they were the worst types of muggles possible. There was no way that this horse faced woman could be related to Lily Potter. The difference between the sisters was day and night. Her husband resembled a constipated walrus what with the sour look on his face and his massive mustache. Their son seemed to be an overindulged little brat, every time he wanted his mother's attention he would throw a tantrum if she didn't respond to his cries right away.
This house was not at all the place for Lily and James' little boy she didn't care what Albus said on the matter. The events of the war had proven he wasn't always right. If the Potters had made different choices, then they might still be alive today. The only silver lining was that their baby son Harry was still alive. Not only was he still alive, but he had seemingly saved all of the wizarding Britain by managing to do away with the Dark Lord when no one else had been able to manage it.
She still laid on her perch in her cat form, her tail flicking from side to side as she watched the house in front of her. Her hackles raised when the street lights started to go out. She waited until Albus crossed her path before turning back into her true form.
"Professor, where's the boy?" Minerva asked her boss.
"He will be here any minute." Albus looked up and searched the sky for Sirius' flying motorcycle.
She knitted her brows together. "Mr. Black just went along with your placing Harry with the Dursley's? I would have thought that he would have put up a huge fight. His temper tantrums are legend."
"Mr. Black wasn't there when I sent Hagrid after the child." He kept scanning the sky as he heard the sound of an engine.
"Do you think that's going to be a problem?" She hated it when her boss wasn't more forthcoming with answers. She didn't think he was a bad man, he just liked to keep his secrets.
"I can't say for certain. You know what the Black family temperament is." He replied absentmindedly.
She peered over the top of her glasses and gave him a stern look that said she knew exactly what he meant.
Their conversation was broken up by Hagrid landing on Sirius' motorcycle. The half giant reached down into the baby carrier strapped around him and took Harry out. "Here we are now. The little tyke slept all the way here." He handed him over to the headmaster.
Minerva studied the baby. "What about the scar? Will you get rid of it?" She followed him up the sidewalk.
"I wouldn't get rid of it even if I could." Albus told her.
"Are you sure we are doing the right thing? I watched them all day and they are the worst type of muggles possible." She tried to talk him out of his latest scheme.
Albus gave her a patient look. "This is the best thing for him. He needs to have a normal childhood. With his reputation that just won't be possible in our world he would grow up with an inflated ego and sense of self. He needs to be kept humble and down to earth."
"Leaving him here with these terrible muggles is the only way to do that?" She questioned him hotly.
"It's the only way I'm afraid." He wouldn't be persuaded on the matter. He laid Harry down on the front porch and left a note on top of his blanket. "Come now, we should go and leave young Mr. Potter to his relatives for now." He backed down the porch quietly.
Hagrid blew his nose loudly into a handkerchief. "I'm gonna miss the little fella. He's all we have left of his parents, great people they were."
Albus slipped a few galleons into Hagrid's massive hand. "Go have a drink in their honor, my old friend."
"Right you are, professor." Hagrid took off on the motorcycle he'd borrowed.
"I must be going as well. This is a time of great celebration, but there is still much work to be done." Albus found an alley where he could apparate.
Minerva stayed for a few more minutes watching over Harry. Finally, her mind was made up. She collected the baby. "I'm sorry, bairn, I know what the headmaster wants, but I just can't leave you with these people. I know who can take you in and keep you safe from these vultures. We just have to get to a phone."
In a grand cabin settled in the Appalachian Mountains a man sat warming himself by a fireplace. He held a crystal sifter of whiskey in his hand while he looked over the latest copy of the Daily Prophet. The madman who had been terrorizing Wizarding Britain for years had finally been brought to his knees, but at a great cost. He swallowed his tears down with his whiskey as he stared at the prominent photos of James and Lily Potter splashed across the front page. It was such a shame for two such promising lives to be snuffed out so soon and so senselessly.
The phone sitting on the end table next to him rang and he grabbed it without thinking. "If you have this number it must be an emergency talk to me." He answered gruffly. He nodded along to what the caller had to say. "I'll be right there. Hopefully I will be able to help with whatever this is."
He threw on a coat and a scarf. He grabbed a pinch of floo powder and tossed it in the fireplace. He made sure that his wand was tucked securely in its' holster before speaking clearly. "The Leaky Cauldron," he stepped through the fireplace.
International floo travel always took a little longer than a domestic trip after what seemed like forever, but had only actually been a few minutes the man stepped out of the fireplace and into the bar at the Leaky Cauldron. He used a quick spell to clean himself off and then he looked around the bar to see if he could find the person who had called him. Not seeing who he was looking for he muscled his way up to the bar through the throng of people and ordered a fire whiskey.
Tom the bartender caught sight of who exactly it was who had ordered the fire whiskey and he gave the other man a somber look. He poured two shots of fire whiskey. "On the house," he pushed a shot glass over to him. "To the Potters, long may their legacy live."
The man ran his hand over his beard and raised his glass. "To the Potters and to the little whelp who saved us all." He threw his shot back and then closed his eyes tightly to fight off the burn.
"It is nice to know that your disposition has gotten better since you were at Hogwarts." Minerva tapped him on the shoulder.
The smile that lit up his face made his dimples show and his eyes twinkle. "All my professors always did say that I lacked people skills, but I'd always make it a point to mention that I am an American raised wizard."
Minerva rolled her eyes at him. "Jake, stop giving me cheek and follow me."
"Never," Jake laughed softly and followed after her.
She opened the door to the room she was renting for a few nights. "I have an important job for you and I hope that I can trust you with it."
"I will do whatever I can in my power to help you." He swore to her. He shut the door behind him when he gestured for him to.
"Mr. Potter, it's not me you're helping." She went to the crib and picked Harry up. "Harry, meet your Uncle Jake. He's going to be taking care of you for awhile."
Jake Potter's normally tan complexion went completely pale. "No, where's Sirius? I'm just a Potter who was made to satisfy the conditions of an alliance. None of this was supposed to be on me. I became a spare the minute James was born my nephew was born for this he had to go play hero. Now it's on Harry."
She forced Harry into his arms. "No one knows where Sirius is, but he needs to be found before he can do something stupid. Harry is the heir, but you're the oldest living Potter at this moment you have to handle things for him. I called you here because you need to get to Gringotts and the ministry to get James and Lily's will read. You have to take Harry, Albus already tried to leave him with Lily's sister."
His face went from pale to bright red. "Bank, ministry, then find Sirius." He listed off. He regarded the baby in his arms. "It's ok, Harry, Uncle Jake is here and he's gonna make everything ok. We are gonna get your crazy Uncle Sirius back and then we are gonna hide you until you get old enough to start school."
"Jake, what do you need from me?" Minerva asked him. James and Lily had been two of her favorite students, she would do whatever she could to make sure that their son grew up safe and loved.
"I need you to watch Harry while I go take care of the things I just listed off." Jake answered her. He ran his hand through his messy black hair. His was no more manageable than James' had been or Harry's would be from the looks of it.
"As you know I have to be back at the school, but I know someone I can take him to who won't turn him over to Albus." She took Harry back from him.
"I will come for him as soon as I can." He kissed the top of Harry's head. "Uncle Jake is going to make this as ok as he can for you. I'm gonna get your godfather back no matter how long it takes and then you both will come stay with me."
"I promise you he will be safe until you get back." She swore to him.
Jake took care of things at Gringotts easily enough. He had a true copy of James and Lily's will and he could use that to fight against Harry being placed with anyone else or from anyone trying to get access to the Potter accounts. He was just now able to address the ministry, because he'd been too late to stop Sirius from doing something stupid. Now he had to use the information that he had to kill two birds with one stone.
Jake pushed his way into the main courtroom of the ministry wearing his finest robes with the Potter crest featured prominently on his chest.
"This is a closed session what is the meaning of this?" Lucius Malfoy sneered and looked down his nose at him. "You have no right to interrupt this meeting of your betters, Potter." He was filling in for his father for this session.
Jake kept his head held high under the scrutiny of that blonde menace. He'd gone to school with him and he was used to every insult that he could hurl at him. "Do you care to tell me again how I'm just a spare Potter? That I was only needed to cement an alliance. I know all of that already. And a lot of good that did." He scoffed when he looked over at the man who currently occupied the Greengrass seat. His father had produced a child with his mother in order to make an alliance with the Greengrass family only for them to remain neutral in the face of Voldemort.
"Mr. Potter, what can this sage body do for you? You really have no right to address the Wizengamot without an appointment as you aren't a member." Albus looked over the top of his glasses at the young man his blue eyes twinkling.
Jake held up the roll of parchment that contained James and Lily's will. "The sworn will of James and Lily says different. It says that in the event that Sirius Black is unavailable to act on Harry's behalf that I should act as steward of house Potter until such a time that he is available or until Harry reaches his majority whichever comes first."
"Sirius Black will never be available for the task he's in a ministry cell right now waiting to be shipped to Azkaban for betraying the Potters and killing twelve muggles and Peter Pettigrew. That matter is settled." Minister Millicent Bagnold was a stern looking woman.
Jake cleared his throat and ran his hand through his hair. "All due respect, Minister Bagnold, if you would just read James and Lily's will you would know that, that was in no way possible. I'm prepared to have a copy of this will printed in the Daily Prophet as we speak. You can have it read into record here and now or we can do this the difficult way. Arcturus Black, Lord of House Black has given me permission to start a blood feud with whoever wishes to throw his grandson and heir into Azkaban without a trial." He may have been raised primarily in America, but that didn't mean his brother hadn't seen to it that he had been taught how to behave as a proper pureblood after their father's death.
Albus had to make a snap decision. He obviously couldn't get away with not having the will read the contents would be known anyway and the fallout would be something that he didn't want to have to deal with. "Have Sirius Black brought here. I know what the will says and there's no way he betrayed the Potters."
Jake stepped up and handed him the will. "Not only is Sirius one of Harry's sworn godfathers he wasn't the secret keeper Pettigrew was."
"What you mean one of Harry's sworn godfathers?" Amelia Bones asked. She was unfortunately the head of house until her niece came of age since the loss of the rest of her family in the war.
"Sirius and I both made vows that we would face death before we allowed harm to come to Harry. Alice Longbottom is his sworn godmother, but we all know that she's not an option now." Jake turned and bowed to the seat that held the dowager Longbottom. "Lady Augusta, I'm most sorry for what you're going through in this incredibly tough time if you require anything from House Potter and it's within my power to give it I will."
"The same to you. If you need anything from House Longbottom don't hesitate to ask." Augusta replied genuinely touched at the sentiment.
Albus had Sirius brought into the chamber to hear the will read. Sirius was shackled, his normally well kempt hair looked limp and greasy, and there was a wild look in his eyes. He was put into the chains chair before the will could be read.
Jake went to stand next to the man he considered to be another nephew to him and he put his hand on his shoulder in a comforting manner. "Some things never change I'm still having to save you from yourself just like when I was prefect and head boy." He whispered in his ear.
Sirius let out what could generously be called a chuckle.
"This is the last will and testament of James and Lily Potter." Albus began to read. "We James and Lily Potter being of sound mind and body declare this to be our last will. In the event that one of us predeceases the other everything will go to the surviving spouse and our child. If we both die, then our son Harry James Potter inherits everything. If our deaths happened by Voldemort's hand, we want it to be known that Peter Pettigrew was our secret keeper and therefore he was the one who betrayed us not Sirius Black. If it had been him then he would have lost all his magic on the spot, as Harry's sworn godfather he can't do anything that would in anyway hurt him." He read what he thought was necessary for the chamber to know at the moment.
"Is that enough for you to let Heir Black walk out of this chamber with me today or do I need to invoke a blood feud in the name of Lord Black?" Jake hoped to God that that would be enough.
"If all of that is true then why was Heir Black found mumbling that he killed them all?" Minister Bagnold asked.
"It was my idea to let everyone think I was the secret and then switch it to that rat. I was the obvious choice and I thought it would throw Voldemort and his death eaters off. I never thought for a minute that Peter was the traitor. Sweet, quiet, little Peter who used to bring us all snacks just to thank us for letting him tag along with us. I never thought that he would turn into this." Sirius put his head in his hands and broke down crying.
"I think we can all agree there are no need to bring charges and risk a blood feud starting. Not after all the unpleasantness that just transpired." Albus spoke in his role as chief wizard. He stared down the minister before she gave him a nod of her head. "All charges dismissed."
Madeye Moody stepped forward and took the shackles off Sirius. "I knew that one of my aurors wasn't capable of betraying his blood brother like that."
"Are we free to go, then?" Jake asked.
"There's the matter of the public burial and memorial that we have planned for James and Lily." Albus replied.
"I'll tell you what you can have all the memorials you and and even put up a monument, but I don't want James and Lily to be buried where anyone can find their graves. I will handle that part." Jake told him in no uncertain terms.
"Whatever you wish, Mr. Potter." Albus had no choice, but to give in to him.
"Sirius, come on, we have some place that we need to be." Jake put his hand on Sirius' shoulder and guided him to floo, so they could leave.
"Prongslet?" Sirius asked about Harry. He'd only briefly seen him the night he found James and Lily's bodies.
"He's safe and we need to go get him." Jake hustled Sirius to the floo, so they could get out of there before the reporters had a chance to corner them. He threw a pinch of powder in the floo and called out his destination.
Sirius followed suit he was in no hurry to argue with the man who had just saved his ass once again.
Andromeda Tonks stood in front of her fireplace waiting for word on her favorite cousin. She was worried that he had finally gotten himself into something that he couldn't easily be gotten out of. Her hair flew in wild curls around her face as she paced back and forth. She was thankful that Ted was in the other room keeping an eye on Nymphadora and Harry. Her little girl was so taken with the toddler that it didn't take much talking on her part to get her to interact with him.
Jake stepped through the fireplace first. He did a quick cleaning charm on himself. He didn't want to risk the ire of Andi for tracking dirt through her house if he could help it. He jumped back startled when he saw his friend wildly pacing. He had to take a deep calming breath to remind himself that he was with his friend and not her psychotic older sister. "Andi," He couldn't help the shakiness in his voice.
Andromeda caught sight of how she looked in the mirror above the fireplace. "Jakey, I'm sorry, I know I have to look like that crazy bitch Bella right now. You know that I would never hurt you the way she did. You know I'll hex you into next week if you mess with me, but I'd never try to hurt you." She shot him a reassuring smile.
"You never have to apologize to me for that psycho. You're much prettier than she is. Just for a minute when I walked through the floo I had a flashback to the duel I had with her." Jake kissed her cheek in greeting.
"Stop trying to charm your way into a married woman's pants. She didn't fancy you at Hogwarts and she doesn't fancy you now." Sirius grumbled stepping out of the fireplace.
"Hush, I love him more than I love you and everyone knows that. I'm glad to see that you are back in one piece and you didn't ruin your life." Andromeda looped an arm through each of the men's and walked them into the other room where the kids were. "Look who I found."
Ted shook hands with both Jake and Sirius. "I'm glad that you were able to handle things without needing my services."
"Not as glad as I am. Arcturus almost had me declaring a blood feud over this hothead." Jake pointed at Sirius.
"That rat basically killed my blood brother and his wife. He left my godson an orphan and then I had Hagrid telling me that Dumbledore knew better than I did where Harry needed to be." Sirius fumed.
"Dora, why don't you give your Uncle Siri a hug?" Ted suggested to his daughter.
Young Nymphadora's hair was a mousy brown today and cut in a short bob. She threw her arms around Sirius' legs. "Hi, Uncle Siri," She smiled up at him with a toothless grin.
Sirius cupped her cheek gently. "Hi, Nym, I'm happy to see you too." he smiled down at her.
Andromeda picked Harry up. "See, Pup, I told you they would be back. Uncle Jake promised you he'd bring your Padfoot back to you."
Harry smiled and clapped his hands happily. "Padfoo!" he babbled excitedly.
Jake took Harry into his arms before Sirius could reach for him. He needed to wash the dirt of the ministry holding cell off him before he held the baby. "You need a bath. I don't know how poor little Nym stood to hug you with the way you have to smell."
"That sounds good." Sirius wasn't in the mood to put up a fight. Just this once he was willing to admit defeat.
Ted took him by the elbow. "Come on, I'll show you where everything is."
Jake waited until the other two men were out of earshot before he spoke. "Did you figure out if there is anything to be done about Harry's scar?"
Andromeda shrugged helplessly. "It's something beyond anything I or the other healers at St. Mungo's have seen. I just know there is something very dark behind that scar. I even checked with a ministry curse breaker I trust and he had no idea what to do."
He looked thoughtful for a minute. "I think I know someone back home who will be able to help. He's been helping me overcome the injury I got in my duel with Bella." He absently rubbed the scar that was over his ribcage.
"Does the mutt know about the will yet?" She asked him with a hooked eyebrow. She poured him a cup of tea and put him into a comfortable arm chair.
"No, I'm waiting until the official reading to let him know. I can't believe James and Lily have put me in the position of having to co-parent with that man-child." He sipped his tea slowly. "I know you have a splash of fire whiskey you can put in there for me. I'm American remember we don't drink tea the way you Brits do." He flashed her a charming smile.
She produced a bottle of fire whiskey and poured some into his cup. "If you ask me it'll be good for all of you. Sirius and Harry need to get out of Britain for awhile and you need to not be living alone in the mountains of North Carolina while you see if your magical core can be repaired from the damage Bella did to you." She took a drink from the bottle. If only her mother could see her now she would scold her for being so unladylike.
Jake looked at Harry and chuckled. "Your Aunt Andi may just be smarter than all of us combined."
"Uncle Jake, smart men like my daddy know that my mummy is always right." Nymphadora climbed up into his lap.
Jake kissed the top of her head. "Your mommy just thinks she's always right. You need to come visit Uncle Jake in America more now that they bad man is gone. I'll get that proper British accent knocked out of you in no time." He teased her.
"I've heard your accent, Potter. Don't pretend that you don't have one too." Ted came back into the room and took a seat.
"Correction, I can speak with a British accent I don't have one." Jake flipped him off in a way that the kids couldn't see.
Ted held out his teacup for fire whiskey. "I see that we've started cocktail hour I may as well join."
Andromeda poured some fire whiskey into his cup and raised the bottle. "To James and Lily may their sacrifice always be remembered."
"To James and Lily," Ted and Jake toasted before taking a drink.
Three Days Later
Remus was standing on the balcony of Potter Manor looking out to where Sirius stood by the coffins of James and Lily that in just a few hours would be lowered into the cold ground.
Jake walked up beside him and handed him a cup of coffee. "We should do something about that, but I also think he needs this. He had to see them lying there dead in what should have been the safest place in the world for them. He has to live with that for the rest of his life. I'm giving him today and then after that I will force him to be a grownup. He gets today and so do we."
"How much trouble do you think we will be in if we are a little drunk and James and Lily's funeral?" Remus replied.
Jake chuckled softly. "I think when we go on to our reward James will be pleased and Lily will have words for us as usual. Now if we get caught today I would say that we will be facing the wrath of Minerva and Andi."
"I think that it is worth the risk." Remus looked thoughtful.
"I agree," Jake smirked. "Flip," he called for one of the house elves.
Flip the elf popped in dressed in a nice suit with the Potter crest on the chest. "How can Flip help you on this sad day, Master Jake?"
Jake put a gentle hand on the elf's head. "It's just Jake, Flip. Get us a bottle of fire whiskey and three glasses we will be outside."
"Right away," Flip popped out again.
Remus and Jake joined Sirius outside. Each of them put a hand on his shoulder.
"This isn't fair they should both be here. They should get to watch that perfect little boy they both loved so much grow up." Sirius' voice trembled.
"James should be helping us teach him to play pranks." Remus added.
"Lily, should be yelling at me and Remus for helping Padfoot and Prongs teach him pranks. I mean I got even more hell than Remus did I was supposed to be older and wiser." Jake laughed.
Flip popped in and handed each man a glass filled to the brim with fire whiskey. "Do masters need anything else from Flip?"
Sirius conjured a cup. "Have a drink with us." He handed him the cup.
"We are in so much trouble if we get caught." Remus took a healthy gulp of his drink.
"Today, I don't care. You two are marauders and I've always been a rebel." Jake finished his whole glass in one gulp.
"I will drink to that." Sirius also drained his drink in one go.
Flip refilled all of their drinks.
Ted found them all out there an hour later. "Dear God and Merlin, Dromeda is gonna kill all three of you and me for not stopping this."
"Mr. Tonks, please tell me that you've managed to find Mr. Potter, Mr. Lupin, and Mr. Black." Minerva was dressed in her best mourning clothes.
"I found them, but I don't know how they are supposed get ready for the service, but I did find them." Ted pointed over his shoulder at the three men and the house elf who were sitting on the ground.
"Minnie, my love, you missed the cocktail hour." Sirius slurred.
"It was supposed to be cocktail hour I don't think anyone had more than that mutt." Remus wasn't as obviously drunk as his best friend.
"It was two bottles of fire whiskey. We drank more than that at James' stag party." Jake stood up and leaned against the tree to keep his balance. "Minnie, there's still enough for you to have a tipple."
Minerva put her hands on her hips. "Henry Jacob Potter, Sirius Orion Black, and Remus John Lupin, you three should be ashamed of yourselves out here three sheets to the wind when we are getting ready to have the only damn ceremony that matters for James and Lily. Get in that manor drink the sobering potions I already laid out for you, because I knew you'd be drunk, then get dressed and be ready to greet guests."
"Yes professor," The three answered in unison.
"And I better not find out which one of ye got poor Flip drunk. It'll be better for you all if I never know the truth." Minerva called after them.
"You do know it was Sirius, right?" Ted asked her.
"Aye, indeed I do, Mr. Tonks. I'm sure I will find a way to make him pay for it later." Minerva crossed her arms over her chest.
Jake was the first of the three friends to step up and speak at the funeral. He'd only made superficial speeches at the public memorials. This one was for family and close friends, so he really opened up. He'd chosen to wear a muggle suit and tie for the occasion. He walked between James and Lily's coffins and put a hand on each lovingly.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes before he spoke. Despite the sobering potion he could feel the fire whiskey trying to crawl back up his throat. He took another breath to center himself and then he pushed on. "Jamey was the little brother that I never had, but always wanted. He was more my brother than his father Charlus was. It seems just like yesterday we stood here and I held him while we buried his parents. It is unreal that I'm standing here today between him and his beautiful young wife as we prepare to lay them to rest. They should have been burying me in the family plot after I died old and alone not the other way around."
He started to shift from foot to foot. "They were both so young and still had so much more to do. I mean more so Lily than James, but he had a lot to give too. He was my nephew and even I can admit that she was way out of his league. I'll never forget the first time she approached me when I was a sixth year prefect and she was a firstie her complaint was as usual about James. She comes to me all full of sass and says 'Prefect Potter, I need you to do something about your nephew, since no one else seems to be able to.' So, I had to go tell James to cool it or I would let her hex his balls off. Of course he didn't listen and I had to give him detention for messing with her then he pranked her. I wasn't about to let the jumped up little shit get away with that and I pranked him epically I got Sirius too as an added bonus I was happy. That started a thing anytime no one else could get the marauders to behave they came to me to prank them into submission."
He played with his tie and cleared his throat to keep his tears out of his voice. "So, Jamey, you behave yourself up there you know that beautiful wife of yours will let me know if I owe you one. Lily, you keep him in line for me and know that I'm gonna miss you terribly. You two have nothing to worry about up there we've got you covered." He took a seat as he finally broke down and cried.
Andi put her hand on Jake's shoulder to comfort him.
Sirius stood up to speak next. "I was an outcast in my own family from the minute I made it into Gryffindor I was no longer fit to be a Black in the eyes in a lot of my family. That didn't matter to James though he became the brother who wanted me to be a part of his family. His parents took me in when I was sixteen and had nowhere else to go. The same thing happened with Lily even though she couldn't stand me at first she put up with me and eventually came to love me. Imagine my surprise when she and James had their son and they trust me enough to name me godfather. James, I know that you've had faith in me since we were eleven years old and met on the train and you know that I can do this. Lily, I promise you that I'm not going to let you down and if I do you have my permission to beat the hell out of me when I cross over to the other side."
Remus didn't have it in him to stand up and say anything he'd said what he'd needed to say earlier when they had been drinking.
After the service they met in the study to hear the reading of Lily and James' will. A goblin from Gringotts had come by to make sure that nothing got confused. Jake had one of the house elves pass out drinks to everyone. He hid a smirk at the glare Minerva gave him.
"I already read everything having to do with the secret keeper in the Wizengamot. Let's move onto custody of Harry." Albus looked down at the will.
"Aye, something that you should have done before you left him on the doorstep at the Dursley's. You're lucky I saved you from yourself again." Minerva grumbled.
"Lily and James wanted custody to be split between Jake and Sirius. If Jake is unwilling, then Sirius will get sole custody." Albus explained.
"Albus, we really don't need to do this we all read the will I've had it for days. We just needed you to break it to Sirius that we are going to have to co-parent until Harry is of age." Jake chuckled.
Sirius nodded in agreement. "The goblins will take care of everything else. We know all the particulars of who gets what. Of course, Jake and I are going to raise Harry together the way James and Lily would have wanted."
"On that point Harry is too well known is this world and he is going to get a big head if all this praise is heaped upon him. He will grow up to be arrogant and a snob. He needs to be raised in the muggle world." Albus stressed.
Jake and Sirius shared a look. It was hard to tell which one of them disliked being told how to raise Harry the most. Jake held up a finger to silence Sirius. "Albus, we have this under control. He will be just fine."
"James and Lily trusted us to raise him and we will do that in the way we see fit and not how you tell us too." Sirius just couldn't keep his smart mouth to himself.
"It's been an emotional few days I think we all just need to calm down and take a step back." Remus stepped in to be the peace maker. If this was how things were gonna go, he didn't know how Jake and Sirius were going to last the next sixteen years until Harry was of age.
A/N: Here is the first chapter I hope you enjoyed it until next time please review.
