Blind Sided
Written through the eyes of a failed run...
Disclaimer: Death of pokemon and burning pokemon.
Missy watched with horror in her wide brown eyes, hiding behind her trainer as her spiked pelt seemed spikier than normal. They met long ago, so much so she understood that her trainer was blind. Fear raced through her as the flame-specialist sent out her pokemon: a Slugma. Out came the Rosealia, Pyxis. He stood as tall as his tiny frame could, worry creasing their features as the they began the onslaught. With a flick of his red and blue roses, Magical Leaf was used, striking the pokemon. He knew not to touch them, that much, was clear. The Slugma used Light Screen, preparing for the ever nearing end.
Pyxis used Leech Seed, doing everything he could to survive the impossible. Soon he was setting up while being hit with Smog, his poison typing was protecting him from being poisoned. Thankfully, he was using Growth, preparing to sweep through the flames and save their lives once and for all. Once he believed he was strong enough, he used Magical Leaf and took the fire-type down in a single blow. As long as he never touched the fire-type he would be safe from being burned to cinders.
Another Slugma came out and it didn't stand a chance as well. A single Magical Leaf took them down and out came the one they were worried for: Torkoal. They were defensive and powerful, and Missy had never been more afraid. As a Zigzagoon and at such a young age with no battle experience, she was not made to fight. Worry filled her small chest as the pokemon before her began their final phase of the battle. Pyxis used Magical Leaf by his trainers command. However, it barely did anything to the flame-type as it shook it off with a powerful shake of their body.
Just as suddenly as the Torkoal shook itself, it lifted it's head, tilting it's chin upward before it let out a huge bellow. Red-hot air flowed over the stadium as a furious red flame materialized and bathed over the battle court. The embers catching the delicate leaves, petals and stems ablaze with a screaming cry of pain. Missy shuddered as she looked up to her blind trainer, and saw the horror in those eyes. Rye couldn't see, but she was clearly afraid of what she was hearing. Within seconds, the leaves, petals and stems had been burnt to a blackened crisp. The corpse of their fellow pokemon disintegrating before their eyes with the movements of the Torkoal as it crept closer.
"Sirius, go!" The blind trainer called out, throwing the pokeball out.
It cracked open upon the heated floor, revealing a Grovyle. They were strong and fast, but Missy knew, with all her heart, that it might not be enough. The grass lizard glanced her way, yellow-golden eyes glinting with sorrow. "I'm sorry, but this might be where it ends." He whispered to her before turning back forward and launching his first attack. He used Pursuit, slamming into the pokemon with dark-energy. The pokemon took the attack and used Body Slam by lunging at him. The sound of warmed-hard scaly skin slapping against thin scaled skin cracked loudly into her ears.
Sirius had fallen, slamming into the ground before scrambling back to his clawed feet with a screeching war cry. Swiftly he used another Pursuit, hitting his mark, but it was too late. It was a losing battle, Missy knew this. Terror filled her veins as the air heated up again and the red spots on the Torkoals shell glowed a bright red. The smoke plumed out more than before and flame seemed to erupt from within it's shell. Missy let out a cry of terror as embers took over the field and sparked into flame all over the powerful grass-type. Agonized screams filled her skull as she tore her gaze away from the burning figure. The stench of burning plants and foul burning meat filling her nostrils as the screams echoed inside her mind.
The screams had long since stopped, but she couldn't hear anything else. Looking ahead, she saw the Torkoal kick over the burnt corpse. Treading closer and closer to the middle of the field. She wanted to scream, she wanted to run away, but she couldn't. Looking up at Rye, she saw the tears running down her face. They had lost, but she was still a pokemon on the team. If she could win, by some miracle, she could finally be more then their Hidden Moves user. With a weary yelp, she ran out to fight.
"Don't we've already lost, Missy." Rye argued, but Missy didn't listen.
The Torkoal was big and intimidating, but she knew what she must do. The fire-specialist was healing her pokemon while she ran forward to give a Headbutt. It's rock hard scales made her see stars, but she took the free hit with a whimper, falling before the massive pokemon. She shook it off roughly as the Torkoal stood above her. Their half-lidded gaze watching with contempt.
"Such a brave little pokemon." It sneered.
With a growl, she used another Headbutt with all her might. "I'm not giving up! For Rye, I can do anything!"
"Fool." The Torkoal grunted.
Her fur moved in an unknown heated wind. Her wet nose drying up as she realized, with shock, that she was not strong enough. She opened her jaws in a wordless wail as the Overheat swamped over her, shoving her tiny body back with flames catching fire on her spiky pelt. Her skin burned and she slowly lost consciousness. Her eyes slowly trailed to her trainer, darkness swamping over her vision as she had one thought left.
I did my best, aren't you proud of me?
Author Note:
On the third run I lost, I did a Grasslocke with a blind-character named Rye. Rye was confident that she could do what many told her she couldn't. She got so far, but it was all for nothing. She lost everything at the fourth gym.
I chose to write from Missy's perspective because she was the last hope and like all the others, she fell.
I followed a rule to not heal in battle and to not be stronger than the strongest pokemon of the Gym Leader. Flannery swept us with her Torkoal. I have made many a mistake, Crits were made and took down pokemon of mine. I did my best in this setting of a Grasslocke, it was hard and difficult, but it came to an end.
Notice: Now, this was supposed to be up on November 23rd but I didn't finish writing it in time. I have plans to upload my nuzlocke stories onto this site as well, due to the slow death of Deviantart. So look forward to hearing of all the tales of my nuzlockes!
Hope you liked this morbid and gore-filled tale from a 2021-2022 run! - NightSky
