Mai's P.O.V

Darkness…Cold…Water dripping. That's all I felt and heard. Naru and the others were gone…I sat up, looking around. That's when I noticed a young girl cowarded a little ways away from me. Standing, I walked over and kneeling down beside her.

"Ayano…" I asked softly, the girl looked up before lunging into my arms and hugging me tightly.

"I'm scared…so scared…he's coming for me…" She said through tears. My eyes saddened as I held her close. She was all alone, scared and alone…

"Shh…it's ok honey, i'm here to help you…I noticed you took hold of me?.." I asked softly and she nodded.

"I wasn't trying too…but when i heard you call out to me…I felt warm and i was tired of being cold…" She said. I smiled gently, "but then there was that man there…i was afraid again."

"Well that man is here to help you…I hate to ask this, Ayano, but in order to help i need to know what happened…can you show me?.." I asked. She froze and shook. "I promise as long as you're tied to me, they won't hurt you…" she looked at me.

"Promise?.." she asked.

"Promise." I responded and stood, taking her hand, gently.

She took me through the dark, towards what seemed to be a light slowly appearing. When we went through, we were in the field, and Ayano was gone from my side. I walked over to Gene as i saw him appear and looked around. I was just a field of tall grass with the well in the middle.

That's when i saw her playing. Gene was quiet this time, just letting me watch. Ayano was giggling and playing with her ball in the grass near the well. The man came close to her and smiled, asking if she wanted to play. She tilted her head but stood up and smiles a bit before backing away to run off. That's when i saw him grab her.

Naru's P.O.V

Mai was out cold. She had been for awhile now. A lot longer than before. The others have all gone to bed, thinking that she would sleep the night through. But i can't sleep a wink while she's like this. I was just pacing and sighing periodically. She was just laying there, still as could be. She hasn't started seizing so maybe she is just sleeping…

"Not exactly" I heard Gene say, "She's talking with the little girl"

"Is she?.." I asked, i could hear him hum in acknowledgement and sat next to the couch Mai had laid on. Guess we just wait…

Some time passed before she bolted up, coughing and panting. I closed my book and walked over, rubbing her back to help her breathe.

"Mai..?" I asked. She put a finger and took deep breathes.

"The man asked her to play, she started to run, he grabbed her… then he drowned her in the well…" She said without hesitation. Usually she takes longer to tell me what happened… Guess she really just wanted to get this over with…

"Is it who you thought?" I asked. She nodded.

"Different face…same voice…" She closed her eyes and coughed, leaning into me gently. I narrowed my eyes and touched her head. A fever… I sighed softly and laid her back down, grabbing a wet cloth and placing it on her head.

"We'll take care of it…rest." I said and stood as she laid back down. She going to to need to rest when we get home.
