Mai's P.O.V
"Mai." I heard Naru from the kitchen as i was getting out of the shower. Wrapping the towel around me, i walked out and down to him.
"Yea?" I asked, still drying my hair.
"Would you want to go to campus with me today? Lin has some work to finish and you made it clear you dont like staying home alone right now…" he offered, looking at me.
"Oh uh…sureee… just let me get dressed…" i said nervously. He smiles.
"You wont have to talk to anyone. And my professors wont mind an extra face." He said. I nodded and headed upstairs to get dressed.
"Hey, maybe today would be a good day to wear that bodysuit mother got you." i heard Gene say, making me jump out of my skin.
"Eek! Gene!" I yelled into the mirror, flipping his off. He just laughed.
"Also, curl your hair a bit and wear light makeup. OH! And the vanilla rose perfume. But lightly." He continued. I blinked but he just grinned and disappeared.
I searched my side of the closet and pulled the body suit out, some black tights, and a black skirt. Getting dressed and pulling my boots on, i grabbed my brush. I decided i may as well curl it a bit and apply some makeup like he suggested. I wonder why hes suggesting i get dolled up…
"Omg is there a girl hitting on Naru?!" I scream in my head. Gene laughed but didnt say anything. "I'll take that as a yes." Spraying one spritz of my perfume on my wrist, rubbing it in and on my neck, i went downstairs.
"Mai? Ready t-" Naru started but stopped midway when i came down. His composure had completely faltered. And my face went red.
"I…is there a problem?.." i asked, avoiding eye contact.
"I uh… um.. no, not at all…" he cleared his throat, "you look great… but this is just a college campus…dont you want to dress more comfortably..?" He asked. I just smiled and shook my head.
"If im going, im going as your girlfriend…" i said, "can't have people saying "The great Oliver Davis is dating an ugly girl" now can we?" I joked.
"I'd punch their lights out." He says darkly before clearing his throat again. "Anyway… if you get cold i can lend you my jacket…come on…" i took his arm and left with him, Lin was driving us as always, though i'm sure Naru can drive, this was easier.
Naru's P.O.V
Oh holy….shit. Marie is so gonna be mad. I couldnt be happier. God, this woman… the past year has been kind to her, and the bodysuit only shows it. Plus the perfume was so light…I'm glad she's mine…
Lin pulls up to the campus and i get out, helping Mai out of the car. A few guys stopped and stared at her, eyes wide in awe. I kept my usual emotionless face and linked her hand over my arm, walking with her. Her heels clicking softly on the floor.
She gripped my arm nervously, staying as close as she could without making it hard to walk. "Naru…maybe this was a bad idea…" she said softly.
"Relax…I'm not going anywhere…" i whispered back, "do you feel too exposed?.." she shook her head.
"Wouldn't matter what im wearing, this many stares would make anyone feel naked."
"Thats true…but youre not usually anxious like this. Arent you outgoing?" I asked.
"In Japan sure…but i dont know what theyre saying here…" i hummed and pet her head softly, letting her sit in a seat next to mine.
"Ill translate if it's important." I reassured and sat down. She smiled and nodded, pulling out a book to read and staying quiet as class started.
Today was a study day it seemed, so the professor definitely didnt mind and extra face. We had to get in groups to study the packet. We could work alone if we wanted so i usually opted to do that. But Marie wasn't having it.
"Oliver~" i heard her say behind me, "are you studying alone again?" She asked. I nodded.
"Focus better by myself." I stated, not looking at her. I could feel Mai staring at me.
"Well, do you think you could help me?" She asked, sitting across from me and setting her paper on my desk, "i dont understand this part here." she pointed. I glanced at her.
"Naru…" Mai asked quietly. I gripped her hand.
"Marie i really cant today. Do you mind?" I asked. She glances at Mai the pouted. I groaned inwardly.
"Why? Cause she's here? Who is she, Oliver?" She asked.
"My girlfriend." I responded, matter of factly.
Maries gasped and started tearing up, "you're cheating on me?! How could you?!" She yelled. The class looking over. Most of them snickering at her obviously fake charade.
"Marie…ive been polite…i dont know what else you want from me. But last i checked, we werent dating." I said and looked back at my packet.
Mai touched my arm, and i looked at her as the other students started looking back at their work.
"What is it?" I asked in japanese. Marie's eye twitched. Mai glanced at her before smirking and kissing me. My eyes softened and i kissed back, parting after a minute and getting back to work. Marie walked off without a fuss at that point. But i knew it was far…from over…
